How I heard of this place: My sister once recommended it as a good brunch spot if we were in the area. Our family chose it as a morning breakfast spot on a visit to Bellingham two years ago. (How did I miss writing my review!?!) We went again this weekend, and it held up! Type of cuisine: Homemade diner style breakfast and lunch foods. "Here at the Daisy Cafe we offer great food along with a relaxed authentic dining experience. Our charming Family Owned restaurant serves up the best breakfast and lunch daily in beautiful Downtown Bellingham. Our delicious choices range from the creative to the basic: from Omelets, Scrambles and French Toast, to Frittatas, Benedicts and the soon-to-be famous Hoppel Poppel. We achieve this goal by making everything from scratch and in house (at least wherever possible), and by using as much locally grown and sustainable product as possible. Our goal at the Daisy is to offer you a real cafe experience, with real employees working hard and in unison to make your visit special. And for those of you with special dietary restrictions, we are here to accommodate. Even though we don't have a special section dedicated to gluten-free or vegetarian items, we are happy to let you create and re-create whatever you see on the menu into your own special meal. Choose from our gluten-free baked goods, to Field Roasts Vegan Sausages or substitute a plate of Fresh Fruit for your toast or potatoes. So the next time you are close, or passing through Bellingham and would like some real... good... food... come in and visit us. Peace" Ambiance: A two-in-one spot, where The Daisy Cafe takes one side, complete with kitchen and bar seating; and The Union Coffee Shop takes up the other side, complete with mega barista station. Both sides offer table-chair set-ups for patrons wishing to dine in. The atmosphere is casual, laid back, clean and very Bellingham - cozy, artsy, quaint and friendly. Despite being downtown, the Cafe feels like a neighborhood spot, where you can walk in and know your servers, cooks, and the faces around the restaurant. What I ordered: For my husband, Chicken Fried Steak ($15) - 2 over medium fried eggs, ground chuck steak lightly seasoned and covered in homemade breadcrumbs, grilled & covered in house-made pepper sausage gravy and served with country-cut red potatoes. For our kids, Galbraith Quesadillas ($11) - 2 eggs scrambled, melted Tillamook cheddar, house-made fresh chopped pico de gallo wrapped in 2 lightly grilled flour and served with country-cut red potatoes, as well as Daisy O'Brien ($13) - a generous portion of country-cut red potatoes & melted aged Vermont cheddar cheese, topped with sautéed red & green peppers & red onions. Sadly, the cheddar cheese was left off of this dish, which would have been devoured. For my mom, a toasted bagel topped with feta, red onions, kalamata olives and small diced tomatoes ($14). For me, the Hoppel Poppel ($14) - sautéed hickory smoked bacon, garlic, red onions, mushrooms & country cut red potatoes, scrambled together with 2 eggs and topped with Tillamook cheddar and served with a side of buttered English muffin and raspberry jam. Our beverages included two 12-ounce caramel sauce steamers, a 12-ounce mocha for me and a 16-ounce matcha latte for my husband. What I loved: My mom absolutely loved the bagel with feta (Mediterranean style), but we all felt the limited plate was overpriced. The chicken fried steak, quesadillas and hoppel poppel were definitely the top choices on this visit (and seems they were the same selections we made on our previous visit). Why I loved it: Friendliest staff, courteous customers and a sweet spot to sit and enjoy a meal with family. Cost: Average

    Eggs Benedict with nova salmon

This place was great. I went around 10am on a Sunday with some friends for breakfast. We walked in, placed our orders and sat ourselves pretty quickly. The person ringing us up was able to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations which I always appreciate. The food was brought out to us within 20 minutes and it was delicious! I recommend the Eggs Benedict with lox and the Orange French Toast. The French toast didn't really taste like orange as advertised, but it was perfectly cooked and I really liked the syrup. The coffee was good and our server came around to offer refills. Overall this is a cute place to grab a meal when in the downtown Bellingham area.

Daisy cafe has incredible brunch food and customer service! Highly recommend their eggs benedict and orange french toast. Love the hollandaise sauce they make :)

So amazing! I thought it was pricey at first when I paid the tab, but then I saw the amount of food we got I was impressed! Not to mention the taste of everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite was the potatoes and the coffee. Service was spot on. Not much interaction because it's not really necessary but the short interactions we had with 2 gals that were there was very pleasant. We went on a Thursday morning and almost all tables were full I can't imagine on a weekend. It is rather small but worth the wait to get a bite to eat! Definitely recommended!

This is such a cute and delicious brunch spot!! I am a vegetarian and the veggie omelet is delicious! I do wish there was a couple more veggie options though. The staff are super kind also!! I love that they have coloring books but would highly recommend they invest in some crayola crayons.

The food are OK. I think they have a good service. In Bellingham, there is not too much to ask because the town is very small.

We tried the bioluminescence drink and the toasty marshmallow latte. The bioluminescence drink is very aesthetic and drinks like a soda / energy drink, though it is a one and done for me as I don't feel the sparkles are the most healthy thing. The toasty marshmallow latte was a bit pricy at $7.50 but they had 3 pieces of toasted marshmallow that is perfect (s'mores like but not burnt) and there is a lot of drink. It was on the sweeter side for me. They have Cinnamon Toast Crunch on the side but it was a bit stale, but I won't be docking off a star as there's not much to it and everything else was delicious. We opted to dine in for the aesthetics and I'd recommend doing so as there's higher price point doesn't seem as worthwhile if you take these drinks to-go

Oh man was it amazing, got the cardamom coffee to go with a piece of Helva for my little and the Chocolate baklava for me and hubs to split! My little demolished the Helva and hubs and I enjoyed our chocolate baklava at the end of a very fun but busy day! We simply had to give it a try. And continue coming back. Type of cuisine: Turkish fare - from simit and borek, to cardamom or pistachio infused Turkish coffee, apricot and apple teas, baklava and lokum. We have always loved the foods, mostly imported directly from Turkey. Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, the space is full of beautiful Turkish art/craft - from lighting to seating, from merchandise to the tasty treats served, we love our bay window benches and small, tiled tables that barely hold everything we order. The brother-owners are always wreathed in smiles and humble, grateful service. The music is soft, but always a surprise - sometimes Turkish, sometimes rock, sometimes jazzy, always fun and unobtrusive. We also love the huge barrel "tables" used as outdoor seating under a covered "patio". What I ordered: I was sad to hear that they no longer make/serve their refreshing and lovely apricot tea, so I chose a sweet cardamom coffee. My sister each chose a turkish coffee and pistachio coffee. A hot chocolate for my husband and two apple teas for the children. We ordered one of each selection of baklava available - pistachio, walnut, chocolate pistachio, halva and another walnut treat. Not to mention peach and blackberry lokum. We also ordered a potato & cheese sandwich; they ran out of the bread so substituted potato borek topped with cheese for our savory snack. What I loved: Always the service; quiet, humble, spot on. The coffee is truly magnificent and fully takes you back to Turkey. The baklava is sweet and soaked in honey, just like the cafes in Istanbul, and the beautiful lighting mesmerizes each of us every time. Why I loved it: It's always a little escape entering the doors of Ashuri, and like a mini vacation in a home away from home. Cost: Average

They really do have a bend over backwards attitude towards just plain being kind, I've seen folks get rude and mean towards the employees and it's just wrong. Stop that be an adult. Order is messed up, they make it right I've seen and experienced that 100%. Buy a dozen bagels get a card punch. No, REALLY, get a punch card. Now that is said. I am a New Yorker. Don't try and tell me how my bagel is supposed to be. I know. There is a certain pull, and chew that is part of the experience while you savor the texture and seasoning involved. There should be a certain a la dente exterior texture from being boiled. THIS IS IT. There is no other. Pumpernickel bagels and an experience in themselves. I lean more towards the savory side with my bagels because a lot of time at home I make a lox sandwich. I can vouch for the lox spread, jalapeno spread and the highly under-rated cinnamon raisin walnut. The latter is definitely a treat and the former can apply to most bagels and bialys in a highly complementary fashion. The garlic bagel is made to only be toasted with butter, but sometimes I make a breakfast sandwich with them. I only like to go to establishments that have better food or convenience than what I can do at home. I still make my own bagels, because I can. If I could go to ONE place the rest of my life, this would be it. Bravo Bagelry for keeping up your time-honored traditions and being a cornerstone of what I know as Bellingham.
