Stopping in on a Saturday morning in December at 9 a.m. with friends, Mount Bakery Fairhaven was popping! Here's our experience. 1) Food: "The best scone I've ever had" is how my wife described their marion berry scone. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was just okay. 2) Drinks: The hazelnut latte was just okay as well. 3) Service: Staff weren't very friendly, but they also had a lot going on. Given that, they did a good job balancing customers and flow. 4) Space: It's a small cafe with indoor tables and a larger outdoor space.

Last full day between Ellensburg & Bellingham. Ran across this restaurant with fresh food, good service & reasonable prices. Great area to walk around too.

Here for breakfast to start our day trip in Bellingham and the service was friendly and attentive. The cinnamon rolls still great... we haven't been back here for 6+ years. Ordered the black Benny with smoked bacon, spinach and tomatoes. Unfortunately the new cook presented it as more like a salad cold dish. The manager apologized when we commented to him and offered to take it off our bill. He said our feedback was important to help them improve. We appreciated his attention and the service over all was great so we still tipped them 20%. We will return because this breakfast place is still our favourite.

We came here as a party of 4 on Saturday morning at about 10:30 AM for some brunch. We were able to find seats easily outside. We spent a little less than an hour here, and left with full bellies and satisfying flavors. I ordered a mimosa with framboise, it was a nice addition to the morning. Simple, and good. I ordered their Wild Salmon Benedict, which has been my favorite dish here for years. The smoked salmon they use is solid and enjoyable every time. I like to order my benedict on top of their house foccaccia, and add some tabasco to give it some heat. Their hollandaise is delightful. We always leave with some pastries to go. They have many options. We chose their Parmesan and pesto swirls.

Food was absolutely delicious. We had the Blackstone Benny on focaccia. So good. We also had the lemon curd waffle, really great. The thing I didn't love was they never came by to refill coffee or waters. Otherwise, wonderful little place.

On another day I would have browsed the shops near the restaurant. I am surprised by the low reviews. We stopped here around 12:50 pm, had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. I had a French 75, waffle with strawberries and bacon on the side. My husband had the fish and chips. We both enjoyed our food and would make a return visit. It's much larger than it appears. There is seating on the main floor, an upper area, the lower back of the restaurant has additional tables and there is a back patio area. It appears that they time the seating to coincide with server capacity.

Several guests who were seated after us were greeted and offered water and coffee before anyone came to our table, which was frustrating. Once our server did come over, though, she was great--friendly, attentive, and took really good care of us from that point on. The coffee was okay, but I definitely would have preferred it stronger. We both ordered the Monte Cristo with breakfast potatoes. The sandwich itself looked amazing, and the raspberry jam was delicious, but unfortunately the meat inside was pretty dry. The breakfast potatoes were SO good and the tartar sauce was honestly some of the best I've had. At $25 for the Monte Cristo, I expected the sandwich to be better, and I probably wouldn't order it again at that price. There were definitely some highlights, but overall it was a bit of a mixed bag.

First off, the gal at the counter was extremely nice to each and every customer in that way that you know she wasn't faking it, she was just genuine. I liked that. I ordered the "Caprese" Style Chicken Sandwich and salad based on her recommendation. They give you a number and deliver it to your table. Very comfortable seating is spread around the corner with nice views towards the water. When the food was delivered, the sandwich was huge and the salad was also. They were both absolutely delicious! I mean really tasty with fresh tomatoes, cheese, salad ingredients, everything--I was amazed at the quality from a bookstore cafe! But disaster struck. Apparently they had messed up and hadn't made my sandwich with the toasted ciabatta bun! What?! To be honest, I hadn't noticed because I was gawking at the sandwich and salad and wondering where to start and if eating it all was even possible, but the gal delivering it had noticed the wrong bun, and that just couldn't be! The next few minutes was straight out of a comedy sketch: She insisting that I get the sandwich I ordered, I saying I was happy with this one and was ready to eat it. It was very funny, especially the part when the cook came out to insist that they "don't do that here" and that I at least was getting a sandwich that was made "Correctly" to take home with me. Shades of Monty Python :) The sandwich and salad was so good I forgot to take a picture until I had eaten the whole dang salad and half the sandwich--you'll have to use your imagination! Honestly, this place endeared itself to me. Amazing food, really nice people, and it's over a book store. I will be back.

I found that some local Sprouts stores were carrying it. I really like it. Like anything, when checking out something for the first time, stay as basic as possible. I tried the Vanilla Bean. All of their flavors display "Full Strength" in front of the flavor name. This is to drive home the point of their concept... no air in the ice cream. Hence, this is very dense ice cream! Of course, they also use excellent ingredients to make this great stuff. I am a fan. It is very concentrated in flavor. It also has a nice mouth feel, very smooth. Loved the Vanilla Bean. Just picked up some Full Strength Raspberry Chip. It's ok, but I prefer the Vanilla Bean. The raspberry is a little on the sweet side.... but still the same silky mouth feel. I am on the lookout for the Vanilla Chocolate Chip, which should be great. Looking forward to more Vanilla Bean and trying some other flavors. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Plus, we were gonna share the ice cream so not as bad right? I tried a sample of the mixed berry and coffee flavors and fell in love. The ice cream was so creamy. It was perfect that they do half scoops so I got both flavors. I mean, we didn't wanna ruin dinner. It was perfect! I wish we had this shop in the Bay! It's sooooo good! Gotta come back and visit!
