I came here mid-day on a weekday for a lunch that turned out to be a breakfast for lunch. I am a big fan whenever a restaurant does breakfast into the afternoon. I got their Classic Breakfast and my partner got a Breakfast sandwich. The classic breakfast had an option to get gluten free bread, which I got, and it was delicious. It is always great when a restaurant has a gluten free bread to exchange for their meals and theirs didn't even have an up-charge which I appreciate. The service was good and the food was great. I recommend coming especially during the less busy daytime if you can. read more

Here's our experience. 1) Food: "The best scone I've ever had" is how my wife described their marion berry scone. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was just okay. 2) Drinks: The hazelnut latte was just okay as well. 3) Service: Staff weren't very friendly, but they also had a lot going on. Here for breakfast to start our day trip in Bellingham and the service was friendly and attentive. The cinnamon rolls still great... we haven't been back here for 6+ years. Ordered the black Benny with smoked bacon, spinach and tomatoes. Unfortunately the new cook presented it as more like a salad cold dish. The manager apologized when we commented to him and offered to take it off our bill. He said our feedback was important to help them improve. We appreciated his attention and the service over all was great so we still tipped them 20%. We will return because this breakfast place is still our favourite. read more

Located in an anonymous shopping center, Mt. Bakery Fairhaven doesn't have much to offer. The decor is very plain; the high ceilings mean the acoustics are poor, making conversation difficult; it's cold and drafty in the cold season. The service is just OK, tends to be very slow, and orders can be incomplete or inaccurate. The food itself is not very good: we've had items come out burned, overly salted, bland. I truly hesitate to say this, but I think this epitomizes the "good enough for Whatcom County" trend in restaurants here. read more

We came here as a party of 4 on Saturday morning at about 10:30 AM for some brunch. We were able to find seats easily outside. We spent a little less than an hour here, and left with full bellies and satisfying flavors. I ordered a mimosa with framboise, it was a nice addition to the morning. Simple, and good. I ordered their Wild Salmon Benedict, which has been my favorite dish here for years. The smoked salmon they use is solid and enjoyable every time. I like to order my benedict on top of their house foccaccia, and add some tabasco to give it some heat. Their hollandaise is delightful. We always leave with some pastries to go. Grabbed a Chai Latte with oat milk and the raspberry cream cheese turnover and the orange cinnamon sugar covered thing lol Coffee was good, orange pastry was amazing!! I ordered the original eggs Benedict for the 1st time. The potatoes were lukewarm and you could tell they were sitting for awhile. They weren't freshly cooked. The eggs were a little overdone for my preference. It seems like the potatoes had a little kick to them which was unexpected. Didn't really care for the kick to the potatoes. The staff was very friendly and the vibe was cool. I came with a party of 6, didn't have to wait too long so that was nice. Half of the group loved their meals, half was less than impressed. My eggs were delicious but some felt hers were watery (from being poached) one loved their Benedict but the other didn't like the soggy bacon and lack of flavor on her potatoes. We have come to this spot In fairhaven for years. There used to be the same friendly staff and manager who always greeted us. The staff appears to be new and very stand-offish. We visited after not being here for a while. The prices have always been on the high side and the potato's have always been disappointing. These things never changed. We ordered coffee and the special for the day. Coffee took an extremely long time to come out and arrived just before our food. It would have been nice to get our coffee beforehand. We also never received part of the special, which was the bacon, on either of my husband or I's dish. This would have been fine if we could have just told the waitress this so she could bring it out.. so we waited.. she never came. So we just eat what we've been given, thinking we'd mention it when she brings the bill around. She never comes back! My baby and i go to the car because we've been there for so long while my husband waits to pay. He sat there for another 20 minutes. He finally had to literally hunt her down to pay the bill. She doesn't say a word. Never asked how food was, drink refills etc. Terrible service for mediocre tasting food that is priced highly. read more

SO GOOD....I have been wanting to go here ever since my brother has told me about Mount Bakery...the waffle was sweet and fluffy and the eggs were perfectly poached. But omg...the lemon curd waffle with strawberries, cookie crumbs, and whipped cream was so good and the lemon curd was tangy and the whipped cream was very light and good. What happened to this place? Only a couple other customers in the place and I still waited 15 minutes to get a cold espresso and a badly burned pastry. Apparently the charming (sarcasm) barista decided to leave my twist pastry (last one) in the warmer until it resembled a brickette..... lovely. Four stars, because the pastries are usually very good. Went there for breakfast with some friends. I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato and a side salad. The grilled cheese came and was literally not grilled. It was like they put it on the grill for 30 seconds with no butter on the bread. I'm not sure how they melted the cheese, I honestly think they may have nuked it. No tomatoes. The salad was greens with big chunks of dry kale and hardly any salad dressing. Our server was very nice but no check-back on food, no refill on coffee without having to flag someone down. On my continuing quest to find great places to work (and eat) in Bellingham, I recently decided to stop at the Mount Bakery (Fairhaven edition). This place is much smaller than its downtown Bham mothership, but offers the same baked good deliciousness and yummy Hammerhead Coffee that can be found at the original location. I got a half order of quiche, a chocolate croissant, and a latte (power breakfast anyone?) and settled in to the free wi-fi with my Mac to get some work done. I chose a seat by the window, which had a lovely view of the bay on a blustery day - it was an inspiring place to blog about our fair city. The atmosphere was a little noisy as they are undergoing a major expansion (and will soon be serving a full breakfast menu) - this is going to be a great addition to Fairhaven and to local breakfast joints in general. For now, it's a nice place to enjoy some goodies and get some work done. Oh, and friendly service - and plenty of parking - too! read more

I love this place so much. The staff is very kind and this location is less cramped than the other one so I feel a little more comfortable here. Came here for a friends birthday brunch recently and it was so fun! The menu selection covers everything from classic breakfast to sweet and savory waffles/crepes. The eggs Benedict's come on a waffle!!! It's amazing!!! The specials are also super fun and I have never ordered a special I have disliked. Thinking about it now I haven't ever disliked anything I've had here. The giant paintings are really beautiful and nice to keep your eyes busy if you tend to look around a lot (or as conversation starters if things begin to lull). The whole ambiance is very cafe and bakery with the case of pastries and the fun mismatched mugs. I definitely recommend this place if you want a nice breakfast, but keep in mind that a good breakfast place is a busy one (for the most part) so know there may be a wait!! read more

I stopped in for breakfast around 10 am on a Saturday. The place was not very busy, and I started with a warmed up cinnamon roll! They are very delicious. They have the flakiness of a croissant, but they still have the doughy texture you want. It was very good. I also ordered the classic eggs bennie. I first tasted the waffle and it was pretty bland. Next the hollandaise was normal, not amazing. But together with the ham and cheese it all worked, and it was very tasty. If the waffle and sauce had a little more pizzazz, it would have taken it to the next level. As I finished eating every table was taken and they got busy very quickly. The service, and prices were average. UPDATE: what's the point of having staff behind the counter at 7 willing to open the door and tell you to wait till 8 for a pastry. My favourite breakfast stop in all of Fairhaven, maybe even Bellingham itself. I've been finding myself in Bellingham almost weekly lately, and this has been my go to place for breakfast so far. Was excited to try this place for the biscuits and gravy. We went on a Sunday morning around 1020 and had to wait about 25 minutes to get seated, which was fine. However, once we ordered the food it took over an hour to receive it. They also came back 40 minutes into us waiting to let us know that they didn't even have biscuits and gravy, which was a bummer. When we did get our food, the potatoes were lukewarm, the bread on the sandwich was hard as a rock and the apple pear brie crepe was underwhelming. Bakeries in Seattle like Le Panier and Cafe Flora have similar priced pastries and there's day and night difference. Wait staff not paying attention, too repeated asks just to get a glass of water. They couldn't cook an egg over medium, they will only do poached or over hard. The crepe was rubbery and unevenly filled with raw fruit and some melted cheese somewhere in the crease of it. Went to the Fairhaven location at 1:30 pm, no waiting. We found a great booth. It took a while to get coffee, even thou there were not crowded. We both hard the Benedict, I had the portobello and my friend had the original. While we both asked for no waffle, somehow mine still came with a waffle. We were able to get coffee refills. However as soon as our plates look empty the bill came. No 'anything else'? Just the check. I think it is still worth coming back for the food, but I will be more aware of the need to keep on the staff. read more
