    Lobster crepes

Fan-freaking-tasting! This place is absolutely amazing and a must go to for breakfast or brunch. I came here with my family while in town for a wedding. We sat outside and it was beautiful. We were seated pretty quickly and service was awesome. All but one of us ordered the lobster crepes. This is a must get entree. There is about a 1/2lb lobster chunks. One of the best brunches I've had in a while.

The creative breakfast and lunch menu make Turtle Cafe special. The gf frittatas are amazing, especially the lobster or the Merlyn Farm veggie, the Portuguese, the Meat Lovers, all great! The clam hash is also unique and delicious - a nice break from the same old, same old. We like the sidewalk tables out front when the weather is nice or sitting at the old school counter, watching the culinary magic come together. Well done and thank you for the passion that you put into all your dishes.

This place is so cute, they had outdoor seating so we took advantage of the beautiful day! Looking over the menu they had so much to choose from....omletes, French toast, waffles, bagels, sandwiches and crepes so much more. I got the apple brulee french toast, my husband got a hot bowl of breakfast stuff it was fantastic , pictures included. Our waitress was so nice and on top of everything, coffee never ran out and we were full. I can't wait to visit this place again soon!!!

Great Diner experience. They have Classic Diner staples, such as eggs any style, burgers, fries, and bottomless cups of coffee. However, they also have a great selection of Crepes as well. My heart was set on French toast, and I selected the berries and cream variety. (However, if I come back here, I'm absolutely getting there Apple French toast, which features slice apples torched atop The Stuffed French toast, with a healthy serving of whipped creams, and a drizzle of caramel!) On this visit, we also had some classics, such as corned beef hash topped with sunny side of eggs, locks on a bagel, smoked salmon crepes, and omelette with four toppings. Everything we had was tasty and made exactly to our specifications. Overall, friendly service, and quick! Just know ahead of time that there might be a wait, as this place is tiny. Additionally, use the bathroom before going here, I didn't see any signage for restroom facilities, but according to reviews you have to walk through the back half of the kitchen, and it is extremely tight. While there is some outdoor seating, don't expect to sit inside if have a stroller or mobility devices.

What a hidden gem! A cozy little hole-in-the-wall that's absolutely worth the visit. The space is compact, with only 6-8 tables, but there's also plenty of bar top seating and an outdoor area. Today, the inside was packed, and we were lucky to grab the last available table. Breakfast came out quickly, piping hot, and was incredibly satisfying. The menu is full of unique and delicious options, making it hard to choose just one thing! Service was outstanding, friendly, and attentive. This is definitely a place I'll be coming back to again."

The food was amazing and delicious. I had corn beef hash and eggs and my partner had the veggie eggs. Both were so delicious. Great service. All smiles and happiness.

Visited an outlet mall in southern Connecticut and saw the Turtle Cafe food truck. The menu was great, had a tough time choosing between the smash burger & their bacon wrap, chose the wrap and was not disappointed at all. The gentleman running the food truck (not sure if they're owner/partner?) - was very friendly and knows how to make great food! Plan to visit their physical restaurant soon!

Old School diner/cafe. Great food, and awesome atmosphere. Sat at the counter, and watched the chefs prepare our food. Very impressive, and entertaining.

Mmmm Lobster Omlette with a perfectly toasted Everything Bagel ! Coffee mmmm good and lots of it

Excellent service! Delicious breakfast! Five star coffee! Cute atmosphere! I had a special, the Lobster Omlette. Excellent with an abundance of lobster , a perfectly toasted Everything Bagel and delicious home fries! My wife was in a wheelchair due to foot surgery- patrons and wait staff helped me transition her from wheelchair to table and back, and opened and held the door for us! Great place all around

Five stars for food and service, 3.5 stars for ambiance.....nothing bad, just old and well-loved. Really big breakfast menu with some interesting combinations. Food was served piping hot and fast! I had the Turtle Sizzler! Huge portion and great combination of flavors! Highly recommended for breakfast aficionados!

This place is small, but the menu has HUGE and the staff are amazing! I got the TURTLE SIZZLER: Eggs scrambled with sausage, ham, chorizo, onions, mushrooms, peppers and cheddar cheese, topped with Cajun aioli and scallions, served on a bed of home fries. It was delicious!

    Is it Handicap friendly?

It doesn't seem like it is, unless you are sitting outside for outdoor dining. The inside seating is extremely tight, like a crowded diner. There is some very limited booth seating. Our family ended up sitting at the counter after waiting 20 mins… Read more

Everything we had we loved! Drinks were delicious, and spot on. Because of the season, it was really busy, and our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed. We ordered wine for our meals, and it didn't come until after we finished eating. Understandable with the season, but did feel a little hard to get something if we needed it! Overall I'd recommend going because it's worth the fun Christmas vibes.

We visited The Griswold Inn for Thanksgiving day, reserving a spot in the library of the dining…read morearea as well as a room in the inn itself. Unfortunately, most of nearly every aspect of our experience was disappointing: *While we were expecting a small, quaint room (which we certainly got), we were not expecting the walls to be paper thin and the heating system to be ineffective. We were located in the inn itself, and you could hear folks on the stairway, going into their rooms, etc. The heating in our room was really wonky--75 degrees and it felt icy cold. For $300 a night?? *The Thanksgiving buffet was OK. We tried to get drinks at the bar beforehand and had to wait a long time because the ONE woman behind the bar decided to hate us from the onset and serve every single person there before grudgingly turning to us. As for the food, there were some hits and misses. We appreciated that there were some salads available, and while the stuffing was bone dry, it tasted pretty good. There were some other roasted veggies and mashed potatoes, and we did like the turkey. Dessert, however, was disgusting. It was either defrosted Betty Crocker or from an Aramark catalogue, but absolutely nothing was homemade. *The reason why we're especially pissed at the place was the "continental breakfast" included in the cost of the room. LOL! A couple Chobani yogurts, stale Aramark pastries, and not-even fresh hard boiled eggs that were so defrosted that they actually squirted water when you sliced into them. Disgusting. What a joke. Better just to serve coffee than what they had. How embarrassing for America's oldest "continuously-running" inn, a moniker that they are so proud to boast of. Listen, this place is adorable and the dining spaces are cozy and the staff (other than the bar) is extremely kind. Essex also couldn't be more cute and we definitely want to be back here again in the warmer months, but we would actually prefer to stay at a Courtyard Marriott and get the points because it would be far less money and--we can't believe we're saying this--better quality. Maybe we'd come back for the regular menu at the restaurant, but overall, it's three stars.
