I'm so happy the new owners have maintained the fabulousness that is Edd's Place. The fish is still fresh and delicious, the views are still peaceful, and the service is smooth! Things have changed, sure: playground is gone, fewer umbrellas, fewer plantings. But that's probably just the new owners' spin. I don't know if I'd take my out of town guests anymore as it doesn't feel quite as special as it used to, but for us it's still fine. The BYOB helps keep it affordable and given the water views and outside dining, that's pretty awesome. The fish tacos are some of the best I've had-they're simple and that's what makes them so good. Despite only one person being behind the counter and a large dinner rush, our food came out pretty quick. I was really surprised.

The atmosphere was astonishing, it really represents all that is the tiny town of Westbrook. Our server Pam, greeted us with kindness and enthusiasm. Best cold lobster roll on the shoreline without a doubt!

The Cole slaw! Sooo good. And an up close pic of that delicious lobster roll

Super cute place with outdoor seating on the water. I got lobster roll and fries and hubby got chicken sandwich and chili dog. Lobster roll had a nice buttered and toasted bun. Lobster was cooked perfectly and overflowed from bun. Good crispy fries. I wish they'd spring for Heinz ketchup but that's just a personal thing. Hubby said sandwich was delicious. He didn't care for the chili but the hot dog itself was delicious and again a buttery toasted roll which is essential. The coke slaw was a sneaky star! Crunchy and sliced thin and tossed w just enough dressing that you still got cabbage flavor. We got a cookie and stopped in on way out to grab it. There was a couple inside, him cooking, her serving and they were very friendly and chatted us up while he grabbed the cookie. We'd def come back

Another great lobster roll at Edd's. Hot ones best

Fingers crossed as new management and staff take over! Same great setting but the familiar faces are gone and fresh new ones are doing their best. They are actively trying to increase staff so they can reduce wait times. The menu is pretty simple initially. We'll keep our fingers crossed that they keep it going and look forward to checking in for a meal now snd then to see how things improve. Good luck!

Found this place online for a stop for lunch. We'll, I should say: the hot lobster roll was the best, no doubt. Very warm, buttery and not too salty. BUT!!! Be aware of the size of the roll! It is a 4-inch roll. So you get it: you'll probably need to order two rolls... At least, we were surprised when we first saw the rolls we ordered... I was okay, but my husband can definitely take another one! The chowder was not that good: not very thick but very salty... wouldn't try that again... The place was nice near the water, quiet.

What a hidden gem! This is certainly a no-frills place, but we really enjoyed it. We went at sunset and enjoyed the beautiful view on the river. The food was all delicious and we found everyone there to be so personable. I liked how the shrimp and grits came out in a unique bowl and the cup of lobster bisque on a different place - it gave a nice homey vibe. Though it was counter service, they were kind enough to bring everything to our table on the patio. It's nice that they have a glass, heated indoor gazebo as well for chilly or rainy weather. It was much less crowded here too which I preferred to other places in the area.

"There is a place where I can go, When I feel low, when I feel blue" (Lennon & McCartney) We always try to kick off the warm weather season at some place with a celebratory lobster roll, and this year we did so at a new place.......namely Edd's Place! We found it on the busy Post Road, which is quite a contrast from the view behind it, where it's on the scenic banks of the Menunketesuk River as it makes its way into Long Island Sound. When you approach the place that is Edd's Place, you'll see a small building, a big gazebo, and a slew of picnic tables with bright red umbrellas right on the shore. If you are ordering or picking up a "to go" order, you go inside. If you're having your food there, just grab a seat, like we did in the gazabo. I started off with a terrific appetizer - a big portion of piping hot lobster bisque $6.95. Any hesitation I had about the price disappeared when I saw plenty of big chunks of lobster bobbing on the surface, and when I tasted my first silky spoonful of that delicious soup. It was stellar. Lobster rolls come in two sizes -something I really don't recall seeing anywhere else. We both went for the 4-ounce version ($17.50), and believe me - you get a big sandwich for that. The lobster rolls can be ordered CT Style (hot with butter) or MA style (cold with mayo) with a side of fries or slaw. The rolls are grilled and buttered, of course. The CT style lobster rolls were excellent, with plenty of sweet delicious lobster meat with neither a speck of shell nor a sliver of gristle in there ruining anything. The "small" version was plenty big, and with a side for $17.50 was a pretty good value. By the way, the fries were really, really good, as Yelper Jill E. noted. I concur. Our lunch for two, including one iced tea, ran $47.25 before tip. All in all, we found Edd's place to be an excellent place to have a very reasonably priced lobster roll and enjoy some very pretty scenery.

The shrimp tacos were very good and best on the shoreline. My son and husband both raved about their food! The gazebo was clean and they had wine glasses for our BYOB of wine! Glad to see they were open in the evening for the gorgeous sunset over the water view. The only suggestion is to spend a little time trimming grass and shrubs. Giving a little attention to cleaning/filling the condiment containers and brushing tree pollen off outside tables. Food is A+++ ! Prices are very reasonable. Better than the cash only guy next door. We don't need a live band and appreciate the cozy atmosphere. We will be back- as long as they are open in the evening!!

The fried clams were lightly battered, golden, and crisp on the outside, yet tender and briny inside. It was fresh, not greasy, and came in a portion generous enough to share and enough for some leftovers too. The side of tartar sauce was creamy and tangy, but honestly, the clams were so good they didn't need much dressing up. The lobster roll, I must say is one of the best in the area. The lobster meat was sweet, plentiful, and perfectly cooked--no rubbery bites here. (In Cali, they seem to split the lobster meat into 2 or 3 rolls as there isn't much lobster meat). Served on a toasted bun with butter, it was simple, classic, and exactly what a lobster roll should be. The service was quick even though the place was busy. It's the kind of spot that feels like summer in Connecticut, whether you're sitting inside or out on the porch. You will be pleasantly surprised at the time it takes you to get your food when you see how busy it is if you stop here. Very surprised. The restaurant is a clean as most places. They clean up well after the tables are turned. The service has never been anything remarkable as in awesome over the top and very hospitable. It's just solid, regular, good, quick service with receiving your food quickly. They must have a good amount of cooks in back. Seafood is ALWAYS fresh. I must repeat this. I had every intention of ordering the lobster nachos (because hello?!), but the portion looked massive. I will definitely be coming back for that with a friend. I pivoted and grabbed a lobster roll instead, which came with crunchy house made chips and coleslaw. The chips were so yummy and crispy and salty, I almost finished them before I had my first bite of the lobster roll. Even the water they brought over was crisp and cold, which I truly appreciated on a warm afternoon. Also, I tried the clam chowder, because if you're by the water in New England, it's practically a requirement. Clammy, creamy, and comforting...just how it should be. Again, almost finished and filled up before my first bite of the lobster roll! I felt satisfied with the smaller, 4oz roll. The roll was perfectly toasted and there was just enough butter to moisten up the plump lobster. I'm drooling just writing this. It started off pretty quiet, but the crowd picked up once the live music kicked off. The vibe was exactly what you'd want: easy, breezy, and full of locals who clearly knew this was the spot. The bathrooms outside are a new addition from the last few years. Very clean and practical. I just love the vibe of this place. Food? Delicious. Service? Wicked awesome. Cleanliness? Impeccable. Don't forget to add that the food came out in under 20 minutes. Already planning my return to try the ahi tuna sandwich and finally conquer those lobster nachos. Where do I start? I could start with the absolutely awful music that was playing. I'm sorry, but these 2 people have no business being on a microphone and it's hard to believe anyone would pay them to do so. I will say, in fairness, that there was only 1 bartender/server. Yes, the same person doing both...so it's obvious that there might be a wait. She took our drink orders and left us with menus. Came back with a tray of drinks, only to spill them on the ground and had to go get new ones. Finally got the drinks and the beer was not cold at all. Ordered 3 orders of wings and a wrap. How difficult is that? About 30 minutes later we get 1 order of wings and the wrap. In the meantime, 3 other tables came in and sat down. 30 minutes more, we still don't have the other 2 orders of wings and the tables that came in after us are already served and eating. Waitress never comes over to see if we need anything. When she finally does come over we explain still waiting on wings. She acted clueless as if she didn't know what was happening. We waited, stupidly, another 30 minutes and finally had to tell her we were leaving. She asked if we wanted the wings removed from the check...REALLY? No, we'd love to pay for food we didn't receive! I went downstairs and asked for a manager, of course I was told there wasn't one. But the woman there said our wings were given to another table. I don't really believe that. Located in Clinton Connecticut, this mainstay restaurant came highly recommended by many of my friends. I pulled in and parking was a breeze, even though it was busy. This parking lot was big. Lots of handicapped spaces also. My friend and I went in and we were greeted warmly, and promptly seated Knowing portions were big, but not realizing how big they would be we passed on appetizer. This is where it gets good! My friend ordered lasagna, and I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. We also ordered water, Immediately out came the salads that were included with the meals. These salads were medium sized, and we're probably good enough for just a lunch! Tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped lettuce, and a very nice house dressing, consisting of a creamy garlic, which was delicious. After salad was done our fantastic waitress brought us a big bowl of pasta and sauce. I could've made a meal out of this! This wasn't just any run of the mill, this was delicious pasta and sauce. Oversized entrées were next on the Bill and I ate probably 1/5 of the eggplant Parmesan. It was huge. I think three or four people could've split this. My friend ate probably about the same of the lasagna. For dessert, we split a Reesie's chocolate pie that was very, very sweet creamy, and hit the spot with the chocolate sauce and whip, whipped cream around the plate Bag probably weighed at least 7 pounds. We brought home the pasta, the lasagna, and the eggplant Parmesan. I loved the eggplant Parmesan. I make a pretty mean Parmesan, but this eggplant Parmesan was on point. It just exploded with great Italian flavors My friend liked the lasagna, as she said it was very, very nice I'm still raving about the big bowl of pasta that came with the meal. Dinner with the tip which included the two big meals which I think were 24.95 each along with the dessert and the big bowl of pasta was roughly $80 and change. This was a deal of deals. There will be meals during the coming week. If you're at the shore and you need takeout, this will be good for the week.
