What a gem! Everything about the hamburger is amazing. The meat has an amazing taste all by itself, the cheese is super flavorful, the bacon is top notch and the sautéed onions are just so good... There were flies everywhere, attempting to get at our food. This issue had to be known to servers and management. Before we ordered, I heard a snippet of a conversation between other diners and a server where they asked to be comped for some inconvenience. In retrospect, they must have been referring to the flies that became persistent as soon as our food arrived. The server should never have allowed us to order our food knowing that we would encounter this issue. We boxed our food to go because we spent our entire meal swatting flies away. We should have just left it there because there is 0% chance we will eat it. The server apologized and acknowledged they had the doors open the day before when a bunch of flies got in. Meh. That's the best way I can describe my most recent trip to Haywire. We were directed to sit at the bar. Service was pretty slow which I suppose it expected for a fairly busy Friday night, but I heard several tables behind us requesting their waiters because they hadn't ordered. The bar wasn't too crowded however. I ordered an American patty melt on a gluten free bun. The gluten free bun was pretty good for being gluten free but the rest of the dish was ... meh. It was just ok. The fries were lack luster, a small portion and sort of cold. I had expected the burger to be pressed like a patty melt. It was a big burger though! My friend ordered a chicken sandwich. She said the bun was cold, food was room temp, and agreed with the fry situation. I still had plenty of food on my plate when the waitress tried to take my plate away. I know we weren't a big ticket as we weren't drinking, but it felt a little rushed. We had the best experience after a long day of traveling! I'm sure during warmer weather there would be a wait, but we got right in. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. My husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger (no onions) and I had the Figgy Jammin. Both cooked medium. I don't remember what my husband chose, but he was just as happy. These may be the best burgers we've ever had. Went here for lunch with my wife on a Sunday at 2pm. We sat at the bar which was empty; other than a few tables the place was empty. We were hoping to watch the giants/jets game - but had to settle for Yankeeography on one tv and the pats game on the other. For drinks, my wife ordered a Vodka soda. I ordered a counterweight ipa that was kicked so I ordered a different one - which the bartender informed me was a new keg so it will take a minute - no big deal.....I watched her as she poured a pitcher of foam out before pouring my beer, which was at one point just half foam. She kept letting it settle and refilling. By the time I got halfway through the beer it was flat. I order another one of the same beer and it was the same thing, so I asked for a different ipa as the glass was half full of foam; to which she seemed annoyed. Generally in my experience when a keg kicks or a new keg it poured, they'll either give you the beer or atleast the option for something else if it is pouring that bad For food We ordered wings, cheese curds and split the patty melt. The wings were excellent. On the menu it said "comes with celery". My wife loves celery with wings - we ask the waitress and just said "we're probably out". The cheese curds were ok, nothing special. The burger came out closer to rare even though we ordered medium. For a patty melt, the cheese wasn't even melted...it reminded me of McDonald's where they just throw the cheese on the bun before it goes in the box. The service was average at best, food less so; for $100+ bill, we won't be back. read more

We noticed on the menu no refill on beverages, which is never a good sign. Tried the wings that were on special. Brown sugar Bourbon, not bad. Then we shared the F-G-T//B-L-T ( Fried green Tomato, BLT) it was supposed to be on thick sliced sourdough, with ranch dressing. I really wanted to love it. It was over run with cheese, which they never mentioned cheese! Bread was thin, small pieces of fried green tomatoes. Upcharged for waffle fries. The service was slow and our waiter never came to check on us. It was 2:15 when we went in. We won't be back. So sad. read more

Delicious lunch- we had the Cobb sandwich, and the avocado ranch burger. Both were excellent choices. The Cobb sandwich came with grilled chicken on buttery grilled sourdough bread. The chicken was a little on the small side compared to the large slices of bread, but still tasty. The burger was fat and juicy. We upgraded to onion straws for one sandwich which were very good, not too greasy. The fries were like shoestring fries with a nice crisp to them. This past Friday night, my husband, two year old son and I were it off to Massachusetts for a weekend getaway and we decided to head in this direction to stop by Haywire on our way for dinner. We arrived at about 5pm ( a friend had advised us that it gets busier as the night goes on and we witnessed that as we were leaving... they even have a parking attendant with telling people where to park) Our meal was absolutely awesome. my husband got the Sunny Side Burger with Haywire fries and an IPA and I got the Brie Burger with Haywire waffle fries and a glass of the King malbec. The topping of chili, cheese, sour cream and jalapeños on our fries was the perfect amount.. not dry but not drenched. Our son got the kids chicken fingers with fries. He normally just likes to dip in ketchup, but enjoyed the honey mustard provided as well. All of our meals were really delicious, juicy and flavorful. Our waitress could have been a slight bit more attentive as our 2 year old who had not napped at all earlier in the day was starting to itch to leave towards the end and she was nowhere in sight. If you are craving a burger, I would definitely recommend coming here. We will definitely be back. read more

Welcome to Haywire Burger, This spot is nestled in a beach community. We drove an hour and ten minutes to this place. My family and I wanted to try a new venue and thought it would be a great experience to hit up a burger spot that I've heard mixed reviews on. Anywho, our overall impression was not wow. My lady and I had burgers which weren't horrible, our hostess did her best at no fault of hers. She was attentive and pleasant. In my humble opinion the place can use some updating, but that's just my opinion. I know they have a kids menu and my kid isn't overly picky but, these guys served my kid raw in the middle chicken tenders. I probably wouldn't consider this a family restaurant for kids under 12. Luckily I split them open and caught the raw chicken. I sent them back obviously and was asked if I wanted a new order or them taken off the bill. I was a bit taken back by that question. One with any sense of customer service would've automatically assumed that, we'll, it's for a child, the kitchen messed up, we'll replace at no charge. Not the case, we still got charged. Ok cool . Anyway, it wasn't a great experience. Consistency is key in customer service and it sucks that I had to be the one to be disappointed here, but my kid could've gotten sick over your mistake. 1 wrong and 1 right doesn't offset a possible health violation. If I could leave less than a star I would. After having considered this place a mainstay, I had the worst restaurant experience of my life this week. Ordered Buffalo chicken dip as an app. "Homemade" tortilla chips came out stale. Took the waitress 20 minutes to come back around and couldn't get anyone else's attention. Not to clear plates, refill drinks, nothing. When she finally came back, we were told the chips all came from the same bin and they'd all be like that. Offered no other solution. Visited around 6:30 on a Thursday night. Don't know if they had a lot of online orders, but the place wasn't busy at all. Still, burgers took more than 30 minutes to come out. Two were ordered medium, one mid rare. All came back incredibly well done, but all of our fries were cold. Not warm, not room temp, cold. One person ordered a chicken sandwich that was sitting so long the bread was soaked through and crumbling as soon as he picked it up. Again, no rush and no servers. When she finally came back (very young girl) we told her she wouldn't have to deal with this and asked to speak to an owner or manager. She came back and told us the owner was in the kitchen working because they were short staffed and it might be a while. I said okay, we'll wait. She came back and said he can't come out and offered to remake our patties. That's it. We'd now been waiting we'll over an hour. When I said no thank you, I'd just like to speak with the owner, she went back again and came out saying he would NOT be coming out and offered again to remake the nothing else from the meal, just bring us no patties. No fries, toppings or buns, just the patty. They didn't even offer to take the cold or overcooked food off the bill. Eventually, I asked and the young waitress complied I do not know who the owner of this place is. But if there kitchen was short staffed, it was better without them. And shame on them to, as a small business owner, refuse to speak with local customers and force this poor young woman into an uncomfortable situation she was not prepared to handle. You're better off with a Big Mac. Next time someone asks me where to get a burger, I'll just say anywhere BUT Haywire. read more

Food was mediocre at best. Went for Father's Day and it was near empty. We ate here several years ago and that experience was 4 stars. Today = barely 3 stars. The burgers were blah and the fries were among the worst we have had on the shoreline. Disappointing experience considering what we were expecting. So disappointing! We have been dying to try Haywire and were so excited to eat there tonight celebrating a birthday. The service was great! The food was terrible! We had heard great things about the burgers but they were mediocre. The bread was so old and stale it was crumbling. And my sons Mac n cheese was a bowl of cheese I made it a point to let our waitress know we were unhappy and she acted totally unfazed. Not awful but not great. We enjoyed our zucchini fries the most. My bf got the haywire burger and I got the nashvillle hot chicken sandwich. I asked for the bread from another sandwich (something like a flat bread, bread) since Texas toast is so thick but they just get me Ciabatta bread which is equally as bready. The fries were def generic and frozen. We would come back here if we couldn't find a better option. One pet peeve I have was that the booth seats were so torn up and gross looking, literally falling apart. The bathroom ancient and yucky looking.
