The delicious hand spun chocolate boozy milk shake!
    Cheryl R.

THIS is literally the BEST BURGER my hubby and I have ever had! Charred a lil bit crispy on the outside - but huge, pink and delicious inside. The toppings were superb. Cooked exactly to order ( despite my @When Harry met Sally"ordering style!) It was a busy holiday weekend Saturday night and quite busy, yet the ENTIRE staff made us feel at home ( and as a southern raised girl, that's a high bar here in CT! :) - The owner was super warm and attentive, and even though the bar was jam packed, even the BARTENDER came out to check on us a whole bunch! We had Haywire Fries ( must have!) The flash fried Brussels ( best I've had anywhere!) and even a boozy chocolate shake!! Decadent but worth it!! Everything five stars. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, casual but well thought out - Great for the family but still a great place for a fun date. From the moment we walked in it was clear they had their act together and were there to please. The hostess was very competent in assessing the wait time and very friendly, cannot wait to return to try all of the other gourmet burger choices!

My husband and I found this place while looking for a "gourmet burger" nearby. Boy, did this place deliver. The service was great and nice and the place was cute. The selection of different burgers was fantastic. My husband was also pleased with the extensive beer selection. I got a figgy Jammin burger and it was superb. I don't remember what my husband chose, but he was just as happy. These may be the best burgers we've ever had. The toppings were perfect pairings and the patties were huge, well seasoned, and well cooked. My only point of improvement was the fries could've been cooked a little longer, but I was so happy and full from the burger that I didn't even care. Would absolutely go back again!

I had the haywire burger and my husband had the avocado ranch burger

My husband and I are visiting from Pittsburgh and lucky we made a last minute decision to come here. The food was amazing, atmosphere was nice, plenty of parking and the food came out quick. Can't think of a better burger place! Definitely recommend coming here!

Service here was best we had during our week on shoreline. Got the haywire fries to start, so good. Crispy waffle fries loaded w chili, cheese, sour cream and green onions. I got avocado burger and he got French onion. A little over cooked for us both but still juicy and delicious. I added onion straws to my burger and they were next level good! He got slaw and I got side greens w basil balsamic. The dressing was so tasty and not too heavy on balsamic! We'd def come back

Came here for lunch with friends and had a great time. The boozy milkshakes were great and my friends really enjoyed their burgers. I'm not the biggest fan of burgers, so I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, and it was okay. The fries were all great and we loved the option to "Go Haywire" and add all the toppings. I thought the menu had a great variety and some really unique choices for burgers! Definitely a good choice when you need a change from all the seafood in the area.

Delicious lunch- we had the Cobb sandwich, and the avocado ranch burger. Both were excellent choices. The Cobb sandwich came with grilled chicken on buttery grilled sourdough bread. The chicken was a little on the small side compared to the large slices of bread, but still tasty. The burger was fat and juicy. We upgraded to onion straws for one sandwich which were very good, not too greasy. The fries were like shoestring fries with a nice crisp to them. So many choices, we will have to back to try them all!

The shepherd's pie was another standout, cozy, flavorful, and wonderfully filling. And do not skip the bread pudding -- it was absolutely amazing and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. The only negative was our booth: right in front of the door, so every time it opened (and it was often), we got blasted with cold air. Next time we'll sit further in or upstairs. If you're running around Old Saybrook and need a quick, hearty meal, this is the place to be.

With some good and some not-so good, we concluded that we aren't likely to return -- in spite of the really yummy tartar sauce (more on that in a moment). Penny Lane is a bit of an English Pub-style restaurant on two levels. We ate upstairs since the lower level was filled (steps, no elevator that we saw). Service was slow to nonexistent. It took us ten minutes to get recognized by a server who asked if we wanted something to drink and took another five minutes to get it. After we ordered we waited 25 minutes to get our food. We got no drink refills. Maybe service is better in the first floor? Ah, the food. Fish and Chips is essentially pub food, so that's what we got. The crust was light and buttery, quite good. The fish was utterly without any sort of flavor, as bland as could be imagined in your worst imagining. The tartar sauce was super good, but it just couldn't disguise the fact that the fish was tasteless. We also tried the poached egg and corned beef hash, which was ok though the hash was kind ... well, and of a hash, unremarkable at best. Conclusion: There was little that was appealing in our experience. Oh yeah, another ten minutes to get our bill... a long afternoon.

I recently planned an errand in the general Old Saybrook area so I could try both at Jack Rabbits. I had the vague impression that there may be more than one part to Jack Rabbits. I went to the part that's more of a bar. It was crowded. There was one table open, but I opted for one of the last seats at the bar. If Jack Rabbits isn't quite a dive bar, it's dive-bar-adjacent. There were clearly a lot of area regulars there. The bartenders were all friendly and helpful. They knew the names of a lot of customers. Always a good sign. The thing about trying both the hot dog and wing part of the menu when you're alone, you can't really do a deep dive into either part of the menu. And the depth of the menu, definitely warranted a deep dive. I'll return to try more of the menu with reinforcements next time. I ordered a New York style hot dog, which was served with a split and grilled Hummel as the base. The toppings included sweet pepper relish, mustard, bacon pieces, kraut and onions. There was a lot going on in a way that I enjoyed. The dog was well cooked. They had a number of specialty dogs I'd like to try. I also ordered 8 Sriracha Lime Cilantro wings, and ate four there and brought the rest home for my son. Good flavor. Good texture. Meaty wings at a goods price. My son liked them too. Wing Addicts had another good call. I'll definitely return. 4.5 Stars

Located in Clinton Connecticut, this mainstay restaurant came highly recommended by many of my friends. I pulled in and parking was a breeze, even though it was busy. This parking lot was big. Lots of handicapped spaces also. My friend and I went in and we were greeted warmly, and promptly seated Knowing portions were big, but not realizing how big they would be we passed on appetizer. This is where it gets good! My friend ordered lasagna, and I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. We also ordered water, Immediately out came the salads that were included with the meals. These salads were medium sized, and we're probably good enough for just a lunch! Tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped lettuce, and a very nice house dressing, consisting of a creamy garlic, which was delicious. After salad was done our fantastic waitress brought us a big bowl of pasta and sauce. I could've made a meal out of this! This wasn't just any run of the mill, this was delicious pasta and sauce. Oversized entrées were next on the Bill and I ate probably 1/5 of the eggplant Parmesan. It was huge. I think three or four people could've split this. My friend ate probably about the same of the lasagna. For dessert, we split a Reesie's chocolate pie that was very, very sweet creamy, and hit the spot with the chocolate sauce and whip, whipped cream around the plate Bag probably weighed at least 7 pounds. We brought home the pasta, the lasagna, and the eggplant Parmesan. I loved the eggplant Parmesan. I make a pretty mean Parmesan, but this eggplant Parmesan was on point. It just exploded with great Italian flavors My friend liked the lasagna, as she said it was very, very nice I'm still raving about the big bowl of pasta that came with the meal. Dinner with the tip which included the two big meals which I think were 24.95 each along with the dessert and the big bowl of pasta was roughly $80 and change. This was a deal of deals. There will be meals during the coming week. If you're at the shore and you need takeout, this will be good for the week. I love this I am now a big fan and I look forward to returning in the spring when the weather gets nice All in all, I wonder what took me so long to come to The Log Cabin!
