Warm Kentucky Butter Cake with vanilla bean gelato and blackberry compote $9

Excellent meal. Great service. Small, yet casually sophisticated space. Four two tops, four four tops, and eight bar seats. Great for a date night or intimate meal with a few close friends. Can hear each other while enjoying a delicious meal and great cocktails. Definitely 5 out of 5.

Great restaurant, Scott is a terrific guy and makes truly amazing meals. The presentation and quality of meals is unlike any other restaurant along the shoreline. Be sure to try the bacon wrapped dates! Highly recommend coming here, unique tasty cocktails as well! You won't be disappointed!!

The great staff at Charter Oak Tavern

Our third time at Charter Oak Tavern. It's become our favorite restaurant in the Westbrook / Old Saybrook area. Not a large place, which makes it a very personable experience. The staff are attentive and friendly. The dishes...everything we have had here have been outstanding. The Chef is nailing it. Beautiful presentations which have fantastic tastes. It's busy, so make a reservation.

Chef (and owner) Scott has created a very unique spot. Between the thoughtful menu choices and ambiance, there is nothing like this nearby. Beautiful experience and it's just getting started... It's a must visit!

Food was delicious and the service was great! We will definitely be back again soon! The butter cake was incredible

Delicious dinner! The tuna tartare appetizer was so good. Smaller menu, but nice offerings. The seating is tight. Service was good.

Very basic. Asked for flavoring and they have more sweeter stuff: strawberry, pomegranate Food and drinks were all out quick We were specifically looking for dog friendly places online and found an ad for "Yappy hour"; dog friendly food and drinks. Although this was an ad from last year unknowingly, we were still able to get a puppy bowl for our dog (hamburger, hotdog carrots and treats). Who I'm assuming was the owner, came out, greeted us, made some small talk and was on his way. Staff were friendly and food was good.

In the warmer months, there are several picnic tables to enjoy your meal outside (this area is dog friendly too!). My friend and I sat at the bar and were lucky enough to be greeted with some live music. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The menu isn't large, but it has a good variety of food and drink options. I opted for the Cowboy Griddle Wrap with chicken and a pumpkin cider. The wrap was flavorful with cowboy caviar, avocado, and cilantro lime aioli with chicken and melted cheddar cheese. If you are in the area, it's a great spot for a quick drink and bite to eat.

Roasted garlic, onion, spice and a hint of smokiness that suggests it was perhaps on a grill. Do not miss this one! The avocado salad is a generous portion of avocado, sliced delicately thin, and fanned out over mixed greens. It was a nice compliment to the spicy items we had. The tempura sea bass is very lightly battered but oh so crisp, no trace of oil, and enough seasoning to complement, yet not overwhelm, the fish. The dipping sauce is unnecessary but was appreciated. Pork gyoza has a nice sear outside with plenty of filling inside and a tasty sauce. The only roll we had was the spicy tuna. It was tender and mildly spiced. The soothing atmosphere and attentive service elevate the experience. Our amiable server didn't crowd us but didn't leave us waiting either. We appreciated that fine balance.

I guess they like inviting high expectations. To be fair it's old saybrook, not much competition, but Massa in Clinton far exceeds Nori and at much better ambience and pricing. Nori does have a cool vibe and love their spicy edamamme and spicy tuna dumplings. Poke bowl is a hit too. Always thought it was weird to have new american or french entrees on their menu like the Duck. Can get very loud when crowded.
