    Scallop Sandwich.

Delicious food and beers. As a starter the fried pickles are a must. I had a great burger, lots of flavor and cooked perfectly. My wife has a scallop sandwich, with I have never seen on a menu. She loved it! Definitely recommend this little gem!

A diamond in the rough. So glad we didn't drive away. Tiny place with a wonderful bar (and bar tender). Delicious burger (sorry forget to take a picture) and spicy fries pickles. Bartender was also server and was friendly, attentive, and proud of the establishment. What a great surprise this place was.

Had lunch here after kayaking and I could not love the ambiance more. There's an attached greenhouse that is such a cozy vibe I cannot wait to go back. Cute outdoor area w fire pit as well and I hear they have great karaoke. We got malt fries and they were a perfect start! Salty and malty and still crispy! I got raspberry jalapeño burger. Came with bacon, grilled jalapeños and strawberry jam. Burger was cooked perfectly on a toasty roll. Bacon was crispy and salty and put against spicy jalapeños and sweet raspberry jam there was nowhere to go but flavor town after one bite. We tried the malt salt wings and they were crispy and full of flavor too. Bartender was on his own and took a triple seating when we arrived and he handled it perfectly! Food was quick and hot and we didn't want for anything. A great find and we will def be back to try more of their huge burger menu

So when you come to the rustic café understand the name of the restaurant! If you like a rustic atmosphere and a great outdoor spot then this is your place! We were looking for a nice place to go for a drink and a casual atmosphere outside and we found it at the rustic café. Definitely a hometown feeling and the best burgers we've had in a long time with some fabulous toppings! Don't miss it

Great food, wonderful drinks and the service is top notch. If you love pickles, this is the place to go. Pickle backs, fried pickles, and pickle martinis. Do you love burgers? Chocolate burgers with/without bacon, burgers with caramel, Gorgonzola and all the above. You will not be disappointed, tons to choose from!

Picked up a super-filling buttered lobster roll. Won't be the last. Yummy beers on tap; watched a couple enjoy their pickle whisky.

Covid-19 era: because of distancing this small place is even smaller, but call ahead orders and outdoor dining means you can still try their glorious seafood if the few indoor tables are already in use. I suggest getting it to-go for one awesome beach picnic like we did. We arrived early and had time to enjoy a pint/popcorn. Seasonal and local beers were on tap, and Spatan went well with the autumn day. The couple in the corner was enjoying their pickle back whiskeys ("I usually never like whiskey, ooh!"), so pickle back's on my to-do list for our next visit despite the curious-and-or-icky name. Our food was neatly packed, and the generous amount of buttered lobster packed separately from the toasted roll. Consider getting bubbly with your seafood since it's that good. The small but stocked bar is too cozy and clean to be called a dive bar, and the bar tender/host was super friendly. For now I can only enjoy reading drink specials and their commentary on the Rustic Cafe website, and the I'll be dreaming about everything on their seasonal dinner menu specials, but I can't wait to return!

This is…read morevery much your standard local dive bar--and I mean that in the most straightforward way possible. You're not coming here for a standout meal or craft cocktails. You're coming here because it's open late, has cold drinks, and it's probably close by. In my case, it was conveniently located near our Airbnb, and with limited late-night dining options in the area, I ended up eating here two nights in a row--strictly out of convenience. Both nights I had the Clam Strip Roll. It's fine. Not great, not terrible. Just... fine. On the first night, I made the mistake of ordering the French fries, which came with an extra charge. They were underwhelming--small portion, cold, and not seasoned. Definitely not worth the upcharge or the calories. The second night I opted for the default chips instead. Still not great, but at least they didn't cost extra. My friend had the BLT on night one--nothing offensive about it, but nothing to write home about either. The toast was uneven, and the onion rings (also an upcharge) were a letdown: soggy and bland. On the second night, they went with the Works Burger and a side salad. Again, both were just average. The burger checked the usual boxes, and the salad was basic but fresh enough. In short, the food does the job, but it's not going to be a highlight of your trip. Drinks were a brighter spot--cold and reasonably priced, which is really all you can ask for in a place like this. The atmosphere? Exactly what you'd expect from a small-town dive bar. There are a few pool tables, TVs mounted on the walls playing sports, and music that leaned into classic rock and barroom standards. It's unpretentious and low-key--probably the kind of place where regulars sit at the same bar stools every night. Service was solid. Orders were taken quickly, drinks arrived fast, and needs were met with minimal fuss. Nothing over the top in terms of attentiveness, but nothing lacking either. It's the kind of service that keeps the gears moving without drawing attention to itself. Overall, Lyme Tavern is a functional, no-frills stop. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit, but in a pinch--especially if it's late and you're nearby--it'll do.

Much more than brunch!…read more I wanted to treat my parents to brunch and I found this truly unique venue where you can dine on a yacht on the CT River and dance/listen to music! It is the 2-hour fall foliage brunch cruise on the Lady Katharine yacht called the Mystique. You arrive by 10:30am at Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam, and everyone (I'd estimate about 150 people, tops) begins the boarding process. You have pre-assigned tables and can request to sit together with family/friends ahead of time. The buffet brunch is hot and ready as soon as you board which is great because there are literally no lines - it's a gradual process. Also, the food is out and replenished for a long time, so you don't have to worry about not getting any, e.g. if you decide to partake in the music and view on the top deck first, you can eat when you are ready. The buffet consisted of salad, rolls, salmon, stuffed chicken with a delicious cranberry stuffing, tortellini, tender beef tips with gravy, carved ham with a delicious sauce, Belgian waffles with fruit and cream toppings, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, raw salmon w/capers and several desserts... I'm probably forgetting something. There is a cash bar but coffee, juice and tea are free ($3 for a fountain beverage which I thought was strange). The staff members were all incredibly friendly and attentive. There was a 3-piece band playing a variety of music on the top deck and people were having fun dancing. The views were amazing, especially seeing Gillette's Castle from the water. For only $50-ish dollars per person, this was an awesome alternative to your usual brunch buffet!
