Who doesn't serve breakfast all day? I thought breakfast was by far the most profitable meal of the day and hence restaurants would never NOT serve breakfast. No matter, we were there before 11AM so we were served breakfast. The server we had was excellent she was a former employee of the Coffee Break which was the old restaurant in this location. The place is LOUD. The decor is new and refreshed. There is NO WHEEL CHAIR ACCESS (which surprised me as they just renovated the place. One would think the Town of Clinton would have required it.) I had the Breakfast Wrap with sausage and american cheese. It was good and filling. $7.00 (in May 2026) My companion had the Quinoa Omelette pictured 1/2 eaten ($14.75 in May 2026) which was good. The home fries had a little too much salt but were otherwise excellent. Personally when there is salt actually on the table, I always wonder why the cook just lightly dusts with salt as I can add more. We also ordered a fresh fruit cup which had grapes purple and green, strawberries, and a few hard pieces of honey dew melon. $6.50 (May 2026) In May 2026 the hours are 0700-1430 MON - SAT 0700-1200 SUN ****WARNING**** They stop servicing breakfast items at 11AM They do take credit cards BUT... They used to take it right at the table now, they don't which means you wait to pay. Bad move on the owner's part. There is plenty of free parking. I am really perplexed by all the great reviews because our experience having breakfast at this restaurant was completely average. The service was average; the food was average and lacked any flair. And why would a place that tries to be upscale offer Coffee Mate (which is primarily water and corn syrup solids) but have no half-and-half available?! (We asked and our server said this was a recent change.) Then again, the coffee wasn't particularly good. Nice atmosphere and crowded but I really don't get it. We've passed by this restaurant many times. We tried for the first time last week. It was obviously a spot for the locals to meet as even the waitstaff seemed to know the folks coming in. The restaurant is cute both inside and out. It had a big menu with lots of choices. We opted for fish tacos and their version of a French dip. Both were just ok. The taco presented pretty but the fish was overcooked and the topping were lacking in flavor. The sandwich was good. The meat was tender but the onions were under done and didn't enhance the sandwich. The fries were good and hot when they came out and were still good as the cooled off. We will come back to try breakfast since it seems to be more known for this. read more

Enjoyed a delicious Monday lunch at this tucked away spot. An easy on and off the highway but somehow still peacefully on the water. With both inside and outside seating, there's plenty of options for large and small groups. It has a cozy home diner vibe. Cute, charming breakfast/lunch spot just off the highway--stopped in for lunch and was super excited, but wound up fairly disappointed. I tried a special butternut squash bisque that just had an odd flavor--clearly lacked salt, but adding salt only really improved it up to edible; It still was ust not enjoyable. My salad with grilled salmon was a bit better--salmon nicely cooked, but the salad greens were fairly wilted and it came with an odd orange vinaigrette that I did not care for and didn't really think went well with the Greek-style salad. On the more positive side, my girlfriend's veggie burger was interesting--black bean, corn, and quinoa blend, I think--pretty flavorful. And they had very good coffee. Service was a bit slow and had to ask a couple of times for coffee/water to arrive, but friendly overall and it was a bit busy. Happy to find this little gem in CT. Came here for brunch on a sunday. The place is packed with a long wit, but thankfully they have some bar seats that were available, we ended up waiting 2-3 minutes to be seated. The menu is pretty straight forward... various pancakes, french toast and egg options. We ended up sharing some french toast (great) and i had one of the omelette options. Lovely out of the way place near the Lyme Art Assoc and Griswold Museum. Nice ambience, decent service and pricing not unreasonable. We sat outside by the tributary. Hard to find places by the water. Seating is tight, not a big place, so get there well before noon or about 3 pm. Parking can also get hinky, and since there are so many older folks there, beware. We went for lunch. read more

A few of us were visiting from out of town as some of our other friends were running in the new London race. The runners having just run 13 miles wanted some protein and some eggs. Having a summer cottage in old Lyme, one of them suggested we go to the Hangry goose because they have outside seating. My friend having her support dog with her thought that was a great idea. Myself and another friend arrived at the establishment at 11:20. A few minutes later, we were inside at the register waiting to be seated. There was two small parties of 3 ahead of us. The hostess asks each of these parties if they are having "breakfast or lunch?" The sign on the door indicates that breakfast is discontinued at 12. When it came our turn to be seated, I told the hostess that we would need both breakfast and lunch menus. She then proceeds to tell us that breakfast is no longer being served. This response had me quite perplexed since it was literally five seconds after she just asked the previous party if they were having "breakfast or lunch?" Huh?? Having driven over from New London myself and my other friend opted to just grab the table outside and wait for our other friends to arrive with the dog. Moments later they arrived and we informed them they were no longer serving breakfast. This was disappointing to my friends as they really wanted some eggs. Since one of them is a waitress, she figured she would ask the waitress if there was any exception that could be made. The waitress said there was nothing they could do because it was a Kitchen policy. We all decided just to have lunch instead since we were already there and because we had already driven 20 minutes to eat. While perusing the lunch menu we noticed a few things. 1) it said NOWHERE the time that they stop serving breakfast 2) they serve a brunch burger with a fried EGG 3) a goose burger with BACON. So the kitchen was unwilling to put an egg or two, and a side of bacon on a plate because that is considered "breakfast" yet they can still cook said items for topping for burgers for lunch. I was dumbfounded. Not only is this establishments breakfast time schedule extremely lax and unclear but the staff/kitchen/management apparently isn't willing to make exceptions to their policies which as I stated before were already unclear and confusing. The food was ok. It wasn't fantastic. But we repeatedly had to ask for things including drinks and dressing. The amount of French fries that came on the plate with the sandwiches and burgers you could fit in your eye and honestly the whole experience was now tarnished. And to add insult to injury our check was $122.00 for a lunch that we didn't really want on food that was mediocre at best and. The view was nice. Our waitress had zero personality and it was obvious to us all that she really wasn't in the game. There were no pleasantries exchanged no friendly banter, just that breakfast couldn't be served. All in all this experience kinda sucked. I should have asked to talk to Teddy Kanaras the owner. I know he was onsite. In the end I believe they wouldn't serve us breakfast; 1) they make more money on lunch 2) they knew we weren't local or regular customers. But one thing I do know, my friends and I will never be returning to the "Hangry Goose" when we visit the Connecticut shoreline again because none of us should have left "Hangry." read more

My and my grandfather are from The Hudson Valley in New York and we were staying here in old Lyme for a small vacation. We decided we'd like to go and get some breakfast before we head home and I found this place online. We drove over here from Niantic which was about 4.6 miles, definitely worth the drive. When we arrived we were greeted by fine young ladies who asked where we would like to sit, I chose to sit outside. The back patio had a nice little view of a water way with Cattail plants, we seen a decent amount of wildlife including seagulls crows and some small fish surface the water. I don't know if I believe their sign for alligators, it gets a little too cold for alligators to be this far north I'm pretty sure. Anyways beautiful scenery great patio very clean. I ordered some French toast and my grandfather ordered some French toast, hash, brown and eggs. I also got a side of bacon as well as he did. The bacon was good. The French toast was nice and custard-like on the inside. their coffee mugs were cute but the orange juice glass I had was a little small. I kind of felt like a kid I guess lol but the food was really good and the scenery was beautiful. Definitely worth driving the 4.6 miles I'd probably drive a little more just to go there like I said we are from New York. We're not from out here, but if I knew about this place at the beginning of our vacation, we would probably go there every morning for breakfast. They also had real maple syrup grade A from Vermont. My grandfather is really picky about his food because he's been in the food industry for 60 something years and he really liked it here. The outside patio has several tables and most have sun umbrellas - lovely for summer heat. They make a great omelette and their home fries are perfectly crisp! Otherwise the food is pretty bad, the coffee almost undrinkable, and it all just tastes like stuff that Sysco delivers once a week and then they convert into "meals" in the kitchen- a step or two above what I imagine prison food tastes like. I didn't remember to write down the names of our meals but I had a burger that was thick and juicy with the crispiest fries I think I've ever had. My wife had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries that was equally delicious. We started the meal with a clam chowder that was thick, rich, and pretty flavorful, and we ended the meal with a lightly sweetened blueberry cobbler that was just a tad sweet. Just had a wonderful meal at the Hangry Goose. My husband had a cheeseburger with candied bacon that he loved. One friend had Shrimp Scampi that she said she wanted to lick the plate. My friend and I had the salmon with fried Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes Absolutely delicious! The very best thing about our meal was our fabulous waitress Caitlyn.
