My friend was in town and had to get a lobster roll while he was here! Had heard good things about Liv's shack and glad we were able to try it out. They have parking spots reserved for Liv's shack which was nice. We both ordered a 4oz Lobster Roll and we split truffle fries. The worker that took our order was very nice and helpful. They brought our food out to us once it was ready. It came out pretty quickly. The outdoor area is nice under a tent. Lobster roll was good we just wish it had a little more butter on it. Loved the fries. They were delicious but wish there was a little more Parmesan cheese. Left very full and satisfied. Overall a nice time!
I was on vacation this entire week. I decided to take a drive to Liv Shackin Old Saybrook, CT. I was on a mission to get their lobster roll. When I arrived there was a beautiful young lady at the table outside. As I ordered viewed the hand written menu. I decided to purchase the 1/2 lb lobster roll. They had several different fries. I asked the young lady which fries were the best, she stated the Old Bay fries were here favorite. I chose the Old Bay fries. The service was impeccable and every waitress I saw had a smile on their face. I sat out under their tented seated area. When my food came out I said Hallelujah!! The Old Bay fries were supper crunchy on the outside and moist inside. They didnt skimp on the lobster meat. It was juicy ,succulent and sweet. The roll was toasted to perfection and was able to sustain all the lobster meat. I can say this was the best lobster roll I ever had and I've had many. It was quiet and very peaceful ambiance surrounding the Harbor Marina next door. If you liv out os state and especially if you live in CT you need to make your way to Liv Shack.To all my Yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world #foodie4life.
The MOST buttery lobster roll I've ever had. I ordered online before driving over, so only had to wait for a few minutes, but it was so busy on the weekend! But a really great lobster roll. Good vibes, pic Nic tables and such, and park nearby if there's no seats. Accepts Apple Pay

Stopped by Liv's Shack on a Sunday afternoon and while the food was excellent, the portions were little small. You order from a giant menu at the front before grabbing a seat at one of many picnic tables. The atmosphere is casual and a couple of bees made it difficult to eat as they chased me. The chicken tenders were hot and crispy, and the lobster roll was buttery and fresh. The clam chowder was very good. While everything tasted great, I felt the portions were quite small for the price, which left us looking for more food somewhere else.
I saw a clip from Sistersnacking and they claim this was the best lobster roll in CT, and honestly, it was a bad recommendation. I should have went somewhere else because the lobster roll wasn't that great. The Food: 1/4lb Hot Buttered Lobster Roll- Where do I begin, first the lobster itself didn't offer a lot of flavor, second there was this weird artificial butter flavor like how you get butter from the movie theater, it was so strange it almost tasted like a weird cheese sauce which I wasn't a fan of, third I didn't care for the bread. It was toasted but it was toasted with so much butter, I feel if i squeezed the roll, butter would of oozed out like if I squeezed a sponge. The sauce covering the lobster was a thick white sauce, it almost looked like they tossed the lobster meat with the chowder then added to the bun. I was on a lobster roll kick the whole weekend I was in town. Liv's was a recommendation, so we came here for lunch one of the days. It's located in a marina, is a little shack with picnic tables they bring your food out pretty quick and of course everything was great. I had a lobster roll, old bay fries and tried white birch beer for the first time. I'd go here again.
We ate lunch here on a day trip out to the Old Saybrook area. The food was delicious and the outside eating area has games (cards, board games, trivia cards, etc.) available to play at your table. It's so scenic right along the water and is a great spot to visit with friends during the summer!
Great food! Fast, friendly service. We must have gotten there at the perfect time because we easily found a parking spot, turned in our order and got our yummy food all within about 15 minutes! Husband had the lobster roll and I had the grilled cheese/lobster. Both were chock full of sweet lobster! It was a beautiful day and their tables that sit under an awning were perfectly comfortable! Lots of families and people fresh off the water!
On our drive back to New York last weekend, I was trying to find a no frill fresh seafood joint on route. Came across this place on Yelp and seems to be overall favorable. I am glad we stopped by this joint. This place opened at 11am and does have about 7-8 parking spots and overall, the shack is located by a marina. So from a scenery perspective, it is very inviting. Walking up, you get to place an order with a wait staff and after the order, they will give you a buzzer and will bring the food over to your table in their nearby wooden tables and chairs seating area. There are ample seating and very clean with utensils and all. Now onto the food. Everything we'd order were on point. My wife got the fish tacos and because of her allergy, they were able to use corn tortilla. I got a fried shrimp roll sandwich along with an order of grilled shrimp. All the dishes tasted very fresh and vibrant. Nothing was greasy. Additionally, we got a truffle fries which hit the spot and my son got a grilled cheese sandwich accompanied by New England clam chowder. The chowder was amazing and not runny at all. Also, they filled the chowder to the rim of the cup. Just look at the photo. You can BYOB which is always great to see at any place. Highly recommend and price point is definitely reasonable for the fresh seafood. Lastly, the staffs were exceptional.
My wife and I live here in Connecticut and over the last three or four years have tried every place pretty much along the CT coast line that offers lobster rolls and this place by far has the best lobster roll your money can buy. Consistently excellent every time we go there. And it's BYOB. Every time we have friends come in we take them here and never been disappointed. Oh and the service is excellent. After you order, go round back and pick a nice shady spot under a tent on one of the many picnic tables. You'll be given a pager and when your order is ready, it will be brought right to your table. We've never waited more than five or 10 minutes after ordering.
Loved the food here and the outdoor seating options! Wish we could have seen the water more instead of mostly the parking lot, but the food was worth it. Excellent lobster roll and old bay fries!
Visited one of Connecticut's bucket list Shacks in Old Saybrook. It didn't disappoint. The Shack attack is amazing. Every bit of Lobster tail meets burger smushed by cheese, I agree 100% a must try. Even to share so you can try other things. We had a delicious lobster roll and the lobster tacos which had a hint of spice. Service was great, girls were friendly. Greeted at the door outside to take order and then they brought out the food. Be ready to share some picnic tables and eat outdoors. A True Shack , but worth it.

My wife and I are driving to Rhode Island. After we hopped off the Bridgeport Ferry I planned out a nice lunch at Liv's Shack. She's a little lerry of Lobster Rolls, if one speck of mayonnaise touches the LR? She's out. I say in my most charming voice: My love, Liv's Shack also serves a Connecticut Style Lobster, it's gently cooked in warm butter. How does that sound for some afternoon delight? She gave me the nod so I set the navigation to crustaceans. Once the nav brought us to our destination, I can see parking is an issue. I patiently waited as a family of four settled into their minivan and drove away. When we walked up to restaurant, first you'll place your order at an outdoor lemonade stand. There's a menu board, I know I'm going to chase my LR with a New England white birch beer. I order two small, buttered Connecticut Style Lobster Rolls. I grab my buzzer and we have a seat at one of the outdoor picnic tables. The LRs come out quickly. Folks, this has to be one of the top five lobster roll I had in my life! The lobster was very hearty with freshly caught lobster. The cook was perfect and the bun was also buttered and toasted to create a gorgeous hand held. If you're worried about the size, it was the perfect size. The larger size would have been overkill IMHO. Listen, some people like Geno's Cheesesteaks, some like Pats across the street. This is my review and I am telling you, from the lobster to the way it was prepared was award winning. All from a little spot on the water. If you like another area spot then you do you! This is the best so far where you can indulge the sweetest and succulent lobster roll along the marina of Old Saybrook! It's an outdoor seating under a big marquee. Service was fast and easy. Service personnel come to your table when your order is ready. A definitely place for a great lobster roll! read more

I had to audible from our original dinner plans, and when an area Yelp search proposed Liv's, I remembered that Instagram's @connecticut_bucketlist was a fan of Liv's. I can see why. Liv's is a seafood, burger, etc. shack near the nice boat docks in Old Saybrook. They offer takeout and have an outside picnic table area as well. I tried a hot buttered lobster roll, fried cheese curds, fries and clam chowder. I liked everything. The roll was well grilled. The lobster was plentiful and perfectly cooked. It was dressed with a lemon butter sauce. I prefer a straight up hot butter for lobster rolls, but I respect that they went for something a little different. The fries were thicker than a lot of my fav CT fries, but they were good crispy and I was a fan. The cheese curds had good texture and were tasty as well. The clam chowder was medium thick and really flavorful as well. One of the better chowders I've had in CT. Loved this trip to Liv's. Five Stars read more
Excellence. A nice shack tucked by some fancy boats and homes- this is a good place to go and worth the money. We had a surf n' turf burger (who would have thought lobster and hamburger would be delicious!) also known as their Shack Attack and their tacos. The surf n' turf burger was a little heavy for me but that's what makes it darn good right? Imagine a lobster roll meets juicy hamburger. I went home and made mine little lighter but their combo is definitely inspirational. A Swiss cheese binds together land and sea. No need to add seasoning- they did this dish justice! The tacos were also good- a nice spicy kick at the end with a good combo of seafood and some Cole slaw like topping. They had a good clam chowder- typical clam chowder. Nothing out of the ordinary but definitely meets the standard of a New England Clam Chowder within the NE part of the US. The order is outside really casual and you take a beeper thing. Plenty of seating in their back. read more

I wished I had a good experience but I didn't unfortunately. I've been trying to get here for a while and last night we finally stopped for dinner around 7. We stopped after a walk and we were very thirsty. I didn't like the ordering process . Get in line, order your food and they will bring everything but why can't we have our drinks right away? Like I said, after our walk we wished we had the chance to have our lemonades right away. And the fact that we are asked to tip before we had our meal is a concept that I don't understand. We were generous anyway. I didn't like the ambience. Too noisy for me, barely found a table. I understand it's a shack however for the price they are charging, some updates are needed. Maybe a fresh coat of paint for those tables or maybe no crumbs or cups left behind. We both ordered the fish tacos. 2 tacos per portion, well seasoned fish with a very generous amount of coleslaw and pico de gallo. Too spicy for my taste but just right for my husband. I don't think I want to return. read more
Seasonal seafood spot inside of a marina, with just a few outdoor picnic tables for seating. The menu is limited, but they have great seafood and a great lobster roll. I got a burger topped with lobster and a side of fries. What a surprise.. Driving down rte 1 and a lobster called me to this place. Two poached rolls, fries and slaw. The roll was spectacular, buttery toasted and crispy.not soggy and the lobster was cooked to perfection.. 4 & 8 oz available and the fries were crunchy and HOT. Creamy cole slaw rounded us out w/a BYOB policy and pet friendly. Grilled Hummel's too!!! Place your order, have a beer, 5 minutes later a server brings your order to your table. They're open until 7:00 not 4:00. I ordered the Shack burger. I've never eaten a burger as slow in my entire existence. 1/4 lb of buttered lobster slapped on a 4oz patty with melted white cheddar. yessir read more
New fan of Liv's Shack! You order outside and the wait is a bit long during peak lunch times but the wait is SO worth it! Luckily they have plenty of seating in the back with umbrellas and picnic tables to accommodate everyone. Once your name is called be prepared for the best lobster roll you ever had! My husband and I shared their large lobster roll and it was so stuffed! Honestly, we are lobster roll snobs and get them all over Rhode Island and CT and we without a doubt agreed that Liv's Shack has the BEST lobster rolls! The lobster was so fresh and the roll was delicious and buttery. We also shared a New England Clam Chowder, burger and fries and my mother in law got their shrimp tacos. Everything was amazing! I cannot wait to go back- seriously the lobster rolls are unreal!! read more

Liv'e Shack is a "hole in the wall" kind of shack with a beautiful backdrop! Near the water , views of the boats... it's lovely. There are several picnic tables around the back for seating. You pay up front and then they bring your food to your seat. It is not cheap and the portions are small, but the flavor is good. My lobster roll was around $25 for 4oz of meat. And would have been $48 for the larger roll portion. Not cheap, not filling but it was delicious. The truffle fries are great! The mahi tacos my husband had were flavorful but small! ReAlly small ! there are a few outdoor games like corn hole and large Jenga. It's a cute stop if you're in that area. The 3 star rating is due to portion size for the price. read more

I loved Liv's shack! Located right near the Saybrook Point Inn, this really gives a laid back, beachy feel. The service was fast, the employees were friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious. We both got the shrimp roll, mine was seasoned with Old Bay and my mom's with Cajun seasoning. And the fries were hot and crispy! Pleasantly surprised by this little shack we have here in Old Saybrook. Located right next to the dock, you'll see some tables cramped right on this little porch. When I came here, all tbe tables on this porch were occupied so my girlfriend and I headed to the backside of this shack right over to the lawn. There were additional picnic tables with umbrellas and all the condiments you need as well as another place to leave your cans, trays, garbage and bottles. But before this, I needed to order inside this little shack. Menu was on a chalkboard to your right upom walking in. Plenty of staff for such a small space. I remember their employee parking spots having some very fancy cars when I was there. Just a fun fact lol. Anyways, I placed my order of two hot lobster rolls and a BLT Salad. They were able to find us on the lawn and they brought it right over to us. The lobster roll was meaty, tender, juicy, fresh, oh it was everything. I even offered my girlfriend the "I'm gonna be a gentleman and offer the last bite of my food to my girlfriend just to sound caring but I expect her to say no" and she said ".............YES". So in conclusion, I had about 80% of kne of the most delightful lobster rolls I have ever had. I distincly remember seeing a lot of meaty claws in both our rolls. Maybe we just got lucky. As for the BLT Salad, they over load it with bacon and I LOVE IT. The vegetables were good quality, could have been tossed or chopped much more as one of the pieces of this salad was litterally a brick of iceberg lettuce. But overall, very good. I did not expect much from such place that I have never heard of and has little reviews on Yelp. Walking in here not expecting much, I got A LOT and I am not gonna complain about that at all.
