    Lobster roll hot with butter
    Logan B.

Fair price, quick service, buttery gold! We had the hot lobster rolls and order of fries! The lobster rolls come with potato chips ( not noted on menu)! Everything came out hot and delicious! Super casual atmosphere which we appreciated mid day for a quick lunch!

    Lobster roll

Excellent hot lobster roll. I was trying to find a lobster roll within mystic I could get for brunch and off the hook was one of the earliest openings (11am). The lobster was perfectly prepared and appropriately portioned and seemed to fly under the radar at least for now - no line! The bun was freshly toasted and offered the perfect crunch. They also had fresh poke if looking for a healthier option. I started the morning at a nearby pastry shop called sift and this was about 1 min walk across the street. It was the most splendid morning you could imagine. I'd highly recommend both!

The Rigatoni ($28), a pasta with Bolognese in a cream emulsion, frozen in time due to its salt preservation technique, was indistinguishable in size from its appetizer counterparts. One example of such includes the Fried Calamari ($20), and the Fried Mozzarella ($15), both of which came under-seasoned and under-portioned in the vie for freshness and seashore "vibes", leading to a spectacular disgracement to its 'Mariner' title. It is unclear thus far into the lore who this restaurant is intended for. A romantic date where each party tries to look less hungry than the other? A local photographer trying to flaunt Shutterstock photos on its faux-wood bulkheads? Whoever the audience may be, it certainly does not include people looking for heartily assembled food, who also happen to be hungry. Of course, blame does not go without acknowledging my naivety of hoping a reliable cash cow in trigger-happy wealthy Mystic, would strive for improvement. Who am I to look for change where the money just isn't demanding any semblance of quality for what the ambience implies?

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

Don't let the casual setup fool you--this place serves some seriously good seafood. With "oysters" in the name, I was surprised when I tried to order them and was told they were out. No oysters that day. But what they did have more than made up for it. The lobster roll was one of the best I've had--jam-packed with fresh lobster, served hot with butter, and absolutely delicious. Paired with a simple bag of Cape Cod chips, it was the perfect New England lunch. I also tried the clam chowder, which was the Rhode Island style. Unlike the creamy New England version or the tomato-based Manhattan style, this was a clear clam broth that really let the flavor of the fresh clams shine through. Clean, briny, and authentic. The service was friendly, the atmosphere low-key, and the food top-notch. Bottom line: Even without oysters, Mystic Oysters is worth a stop. If you're looking for authentic, fresh seafood without the tourist-trap vibe, this little shack delivers.

At that…read moretime their clam chowder was phenomenal, and I always held that chowder up in my mind and compared every other chowder to it. In the interim I have only had two chowders that I would even put in the same league. Last night we had dinner here, and everything was excellent, the atmosphere was of course as wonderful as always. The only disappointment I had was the quality of the chowder has taken such a drastic turn. It was very onion heavy (my daughter thought maybe leeks) that I couldn't taste clam at all. It was also very thick and gluey. Lastly (and I know this is the luck of the ladle) if I got any actual clams, I didn't notice them. Clearly a lot is going right in that kitchen, but I think the head chef needs to go back to the drawing board on the chowder. For such an icon of a restaurant to be serving that chowder is a true shame.

Half of us couldn't move our seat back without hitting your head on the dormer. The acoustics were horrible as we could hardly hear the person next to you. Six of our party were in the restaurant on time. But four of our party arrived at location on time but were a little late (20 mins) getting in due to virtually no parking available. They eventually had to park at a marina among the boats and walk. During our wait, we were informed that we were only allotted two hours for our reservation by the waitstaff and then the management, rudely I might add. After we finished dinner, we were asked if anyone wanted dessert. Some said yes. The waitress left which we assumed to get dessert menus. However after a rather long delay she returned and informed us that we couldn't have dessert because they had another reservation. At this point, we were only 20 minutes past our ALLOTED time. We left and agreed that was the last time we would ever go the Daniel Packer Inne. When the reservations were made we were not informed we were on a strict time limit. If we were, we would not have chosen DPI as our party was from three states and coffee and dessert would have been nice before the long trip back home.
