We had dinner here after arriving in Mystic for the night. We were looking for good seafood, a view of the river, and a good glass of wine. It delivered on all plus more! The lobster roll was delicious and very meaty. My husband got a cod sandwich and it was super flavorful. Our server was so nice and explained about the two bridges that move to allow ships to go up and down the river. FYI...there is parking in front of the restaurant and you don't have to pay $25 for the lot at the entrance.

Before heading to mystic i had looked up where people recommended going for a lobster roll, & red 36 was shared a bunch. I'm so pleased to report it did not disappoint. The weather was perfect, so sitting outside was a delight. The service, food, atmosphere, and vibe were amazing. My lobster roll was delicious and even my non-seafood eating Dad found something to eat! Would absolutely recommend!

I really love red 36! I've tried a bunch on the menu, including the crab dip, lobster roll, salmon, and the things pictured and it's all been really great. They have a nice happy hour too, in the bar area but you can make a reservation for a high top bar seat and that counts for happy hour. Service has always been pretty solid, even when they're busy

Recently we had lunch at Red 36 and we loved everything about the restaurant. The setting, the menu, the staff and service, the easy parking, and much more. We arrived and after about a 20 min wait, we got a table. The menu was varied and very well priced. I got a Mexican salad and my husband got a flatbread. Both were good size and they were delicious. Our server was attentive and prompt, even though every table at the restaurant was taken. A great choice in Mystic, with a nice view of a marina and the water.

A perfect place to enjoy dining with a water view by the Marina on a sunny/mild October afternoon. Reservations suggested as everyone had the same idea .. to take advantage of this wonderful location. Seafood and a water view were my wish and I couldn't have had a most wonderful experience with our family.. The menu was filled with a variety of delectable seafood choices, but offered something for every palate. The beverage menu was impressive( wines, beers and regular & seasonal cocktails, etc) The atmosphere was energetic.. we were fortunate to have a table one of their outside decks... the service was excellent ,and as as a belated birthday celebration ..I couldn't have asked for anything better!!!! Highly recommend..

A big group of us decided to come by our favorite spot last Friday after work. We all sat outside by the bar. The place was packed everywhere. Our bartender Jorge was so cool to make me a new drink specially for me. A custom White Sangria which I loved. My friends all were happy with the food and drinks. As always you just have an amazing time with the view; weather and all other customers that are never afraid to start conversations. We had not tried their nachos and was super surprised to see how big it was.

Anniversary in Mystic. It was a beautiful day, so dinner with a view was a priority. Red 36 fit the bill. There is a lot with plenty of free parking for the restaurant. After our dinner, we were easily able to walk over to the downtown area. We got to the restaurant at a few minutes after 5 on a Saturday. There are no reservations taken during summer months (April-September), so we hoped there wouldn't be much of a wait. We were in luck, and got a table outside overlooking water/boats. Perfect. 5-10 minutes later, and we'd definitely have to wait. Our waiter was very nice. Our meals were wonderful. I had the fish & chips. 2 large pieces of fish (I think cod?) and homemade fries. My husband had a burger with egg on top & fries. Really good. I had one of the drink specials - cider sangria. So glad we tried Red 36. Definitely recommend a trip there.

This was nice find at Mystic. We stopped before heading to the aquarium and were very happy with the service and selection. The fig drink with bourbon (forget name) was really good. I ordered the salmon poke bowl which was very good. I also started with oysters on the half shell which were also delicious. Others in group various dishes, all said they were good.

We've been to Red 36 many times for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, and we always enjoy it. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, making it a great spot whether you're stopping in for a drink or sitting down for a full meal. The service is consistently good, and everything always feels well taken care of. It's a place we're happy to keep going back to.

We really enjoy Red 36 The good: -Beautiful location on the Mystic River including deck dining -Open air dining most of the year as it is surrounded by folding glass doors -Cool even on a hot day -Awesome fresh and local raw bar -Fully stocked bar and local beers -Good service -Dedicated Gluten Free Menu taking the hassle out of ordering for those with celiac. GF favorites include the local scallops and risotto, the seafood paella, the PEI Mussels and of course the Ninegrit and Stonington Oysters -Family favorites include the Paella, Fish and Chips, Lobster Mac and Cheese, the Salmon Burger and the Fried Brussels. The not so great -No reservations during the summer months so the wait can be long -There is a dedicated parking lot but it gets full quickly in the summer. -Raw bar and bar service can b slow, plan accordingly.

Our first time here and it was disappointing. We've heard such great this about this establishment and we're so excited to try it. The restaurant itself is chic, modern decor and casual. It sits on the water with indoor and outdoor dining. The view is spectacular. It took a while for our server to greet us. The drinks took too long and food was a tad slow as well. We started with the Mystic oysters for $3.25 each as a lunch special. I prefer west coast oysters but they only serve local ones which is fine. The person that shucked them didn't do too good because pieces of shell fell into the meat. I asked for extra lemons and only got two. The creamy clam chowder had good flavor but way too many potatoes than anything else in it. Linguine clams in red sauce were mediocre at best. The clams and pasta were overcooked and lacked flavor. It appeared that used garlic out of a jar instead of fresh garlic because you definitely can taste and smell the difference between the two. Clams were super chewy and a bit gritty with sand. Lobster Cobb salad was okay once I added more dressing and salt to it. My Cobb salad was missing avocado so I had to ask for that. For the two of us we spent $150 with tip. Our server was a bit slow in refilling drinks and it wasn't busy. Other people helped by bringing out our food and clearing the table. Overpriced for mediocre food. It may be a good place for drinks and the water view but I will not return.

Well I just may be partial, but this quaint little town surrounded by water creates a lovely coastal vibe for this gem. Ambiance is salt life, beach, boating, 360 views of the water, high ceilings, white and blues decor, salt air and seafood, and yacht rock. They offer a really nice varied menu of both small plates and harder dishes most of which are inspired by the sea, but there's something for all tastes and preferences. The raw bar is a must. Great cocktails like the frozé, Mezcal Paloma, and the Hugo spritz. Start with a chowder, fried clam bellies, share the lobster Cobb salad. Beer battered (as it should be!) fish and chips, and the seared scallops over truffle mushroom risotto are solid tasty satisfying menu options. The service is always friendly and unrushed no matter how busy they are. I've always found everyone to be so pleasant.

Honestly would be 5 stars for food but the customer service was a miss. My mom is 4 foot eleven so she can't sit in high top chairs because her feet don't touch the bottom. We asked for a table for 2 and they said they had nothing and it would be a 20 minute wait, which would have been fine if we didn't have to get to the airport. After saying that one of the hostesses offered up the sofa in the lounge- which again would have been fine, if there weren't empty tables everywhere. Apparently they keep four top tables for parties of four, even if someone physically can't sit in their tall high top chairs. We had a lovely lunch, our waiter was adorable, food wonderful, and when we left, surprise, the tables were still empty. Just a request to do a little better for your customers.

I don’t believe so because in order to get to the deck, you need to walk through the restaurant. But I’m not 100% certain

Would reservations be needed for a weekday lunch?

They don't take reservations but there's tons of seating.

Is it kid friendly and do they have a children's menu?

Yes they do, but upon request

    Is it fancy or casual?

    It's causal.

What is the name of the marina that the Dock side of restaurant sits in?

Seaport Marine ... restaurant is between train bridge and mystic river bridge. Parking for restaurant is in boatyard. Docking available in harbor ... restaurant feels like it's suspended over water!

The regular menu looked creative and appetizing as well. I had their daily oyster ($1.50 each), mussels ($10), and their cutie smash burger ($9). The oysters were from sixpenny on the day I attended. They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal. Will I go back? Definitely.

The service was okay while the food came out in a timely manner. I liked that some of the fish items listed the fishing vessel on the menu. Three appetizers were ordered which consisted of a beet pickled deviled egg ($4 each), chilled oysters (Half Dozen $18), and the local fluke crudo ($17). The egg had a crispy clam strip and espelette pepper. This was solid. I thought the clam strip was a little too overpowerful given the size of that and the egg. The pickled beet egg was interesting, and I liked how the filling was also under the egg, so the egg did not move. The Riverhawk oysters were fresh and tasty. The mignonette was simple and paired well. The crudo had an herb mayo, pickled ramps, kelp crisp, and pickled sugar kelp. This was alright. It seemed like fennel or a similar type of herb was used in one of the pickling items, which took over a little bit. The kelp crisp was nice and paired well with the fluke. For an entrée, I had the local scup a la plancha ($37). It came with Marshall Cove mussels, fondant potato, English peas, and a saffron emulsion. This was a nice sized portion. I thought the saffron emulsion was key and went together with everything else on the plate. The mussels were fresh again, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. It was a well-done dish, but the use of scup made it feel more modest, but maybe that was the point, so what do I know? I also tried the scallop dish that came with green crab crispy rice, chili crispy, and a garlic aioli. The rice was very crispy, and it reminded me of a traditional hibachi rice, but elevated. The scallops had a perfect cook to them too. For dessert, the oyster ice cream ($10) was tried. It had to be tasted when it was on the menu. It had a slight briny flavor, but nothing too overpowerful. The ice cream itself was very creamy with a nice texture. I believe Greek yogurt was used, which probably helped with the oyster flavor that was incorporated. Will I go back? Sure.

Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! Haring's has a terrific, classic New England location in Noank right along the Mystic Harbor. It's a touch north of Abbot's, and is where Ford's used to be. Our family was on a boat and looking to dock for lunch. The Captain's first choice for lunch did not have dock parking available, and I recommended Harings based on social media posts. The Harings employee who helped us dock was very nice, helpful and hard working. He was probably the high point of our experience. We were told that since he had a boat, we would have to eat on our boat and they would come to the boat and take our order when it was our turn. From the point we were told that, here was our experience. Nobody came to take our order for about 45 minutes. I went to the desk and they apologized and sent someone to take our order. She was friendly and helpful. We were told it would take about 30 minutes to get our food. It took longer. A boat that docked about 30 minutes after us had their order taken within about 15 minutes, and they received their food 10 minutes before I had to complain that we still hadn't received any of our food. The person I spoke with was friendly and our food arrived soon after I said something. The food, which was not inexpensive, was not spectacular. Certain items were not delivered. My son said his fries were not warm and were undercooked, and his $18 chicken sandwich was much smaller than cheaper sandwiches he normally orders. The people who ordered hot lobster rolls said they were OK. At this point, so much time had passed, that we did not have time for them to correct these issues. I ordered the Bisquets and Gravy, which was a 1/2 pound of lobster, lobster bisque and cheddar biscuits. The bisque was average. It could have been better seasoned. There was a lot of lobster, but at least some bites were overcooked. The lobster wasn't well seasoned either. The highlight of my food was the oysters, which was a substitute for the scallop crudo they had run out of after I ordered. I have the sense that the people who helped us, wanted to provide good service. It just seemed like the structure of the service was disorganized, and you never knew if they had forgotten you or that was just the normal lag. I ultimately concluded it was mostly that they had forgotten about us. The location is fantastic. Perhaps the food is better when the business is less steady. I did not see enough in this visit to return. This was probably my least favorite New England water side food experience in years. Especially at this price point. 2.25 Stars

Started with 2 cups of lobster bisque which was delicious and topped with a whole lobster claw (totally worth the $10 unlike what some other reviews mentioned - it was great) and some hush puppies which were perfectly fried and served with a delicious lemon herb butter. Fried haddock sandwich and eggs Benedict were great choices for lunch, and our son got the fried haddock nuggets. Fish was salted just right and the crisp coating stayed together which is a must for me with fried fish. Really good cup of coffee too. Must not miss this place, we'd come back for sure!
