What a joke... We were just here 11 days ago and it was completely fine. This visit was a different story, and honestly still hard to believe. Our waitress was walking away mid-sentence while we were trying to order. She never asked my girlfriend what side she wanted, just assumed fries without mentioning other options. The appetizer came out wrong and had to be sent back. When entrees came out, everyone at the table had food except me. My shrimp taco showed up 10 minutes later, clearly forgotten, and I was supposed to get four shrimp but only got two. Gone in one bite. When I brought it up, the manager didn't offer to remake it. She just knocked 50% off the price since I'd technically gotten "half" my shrimp. Not an apology, not a fix, just a discount calculated like a math problem. I've maybe written one review in my life. This is a solid spot on the mystic waterfront if you're down there. They dont take reservations or let you put your name in until your entire party is there. They have a cute little "tap room" for when youre waiting for a table- but we went on a friday night in August and there was no wait so I'm not sure how often that happens. Sawyer (? I think) was very attentive and good at explaining the dishes. I ended up with a Ahi tuna sandwich which was good but a little gristly so if that turns you off maybe go with something else. The expresso martini was absolutely fantastic, that cold foam was light and airy with a good sweet taste. A very solid martini! The halibut risotto was probably one of the best fish meals I've had in the area. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. The risotto and sauce were super savory together and mixed really well with the fish! My only complaint would be some of the chairs there not providing much support. Food quality / price (value) rating 8.5. The atmosphere is dockside dining, with a decent view of the water and docked boats. They have two medium sized dining rooms, and a large outdoor bar area with several tables. I had the Shrimp and Grits which had a very excellent (seemingly homemade) chorizo sauce with fresh garlic and small pieces of what seemed to be pork. It included five good sized shrimp, and a large portion of grits. The chorizo sauce was an excellent compliment for both the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and the grits were a little overcooked, but still very good. The wife had the Mexican Salad, it was good sized and had a generous amount of additional items mixed in with the lettuce. We each had some drinks, including the two beers I had. I wasn't going to mention the one thing that really ticked me off, but when I addressed the issue with the manager, Tom, he reacted very defensively, and even became a little hostile towards me. The issue was that they are selling an IPA ( Maine Lunch) stating on their menu that it costs "$14 for 14 ounces ($1 per ounce), and it is actually served in a 12 ounce glass. The manager made plenty of excuses for this, stating "That beer is very expensive for the restaurant to buy", and "The distributor supplied the glasses" and other excuses that had nothing to do with a reason for shorting their customers of two ounces ($2) of beer. He also didn't deny or defend the two ounce discrepancy. FYI, a keg of beer has 1984 ounces, which translates to $1,984 that they are charging per keg at $1 / ounce, and they'd serve 141 fourteen ounce beers per keg. That number rises to 165 twelve ounce beers (at $14) equaling $2,310 per keg, meaning they're ripping people off for $326 per keg. The food and service were very good despite this issue. read more

Inside is nice and right on the water with great views. We ordered a crab tuna appetizer that was a special. The fish tasted good but it was kinda small and hard to split. The rice was supposed to be crispy but it wasn't very crispy. I then ordered the seared 5 spice ahi tuna sandwich which I enjoyed. Anniversary in Mystic. It was a beautiful day, so dinner with a view was a priority. Red 36 fit the bill. There is a lot with plenty of free parking for the restaurant. After our dinner, we were easily able to walk over to the downtown area. We got to the restaurant at a few minutes after 5 on a Saturday. Our first time here and it was disappointing. We've heard such great this about this establishment and we're so excited to try it. The restaurant itself is chic, modern decor and casual. It sits on the water with indoor and outdoor dining. The view is spectacular. It took a while for our server to greet us. The drinks took too long and food was a tad slow as well. We started with the Mystic oysters for $3.25 each as a lunch special. I prefer west coast oysters but they only serve local ones which is fine. The person that shucked them didn't do too good because pieces of shell fell into the meat. I asked for extra lemons and only got two. The creamy clam chowder had good flavor but way too many potatoes than anything else in it. Linguine clams in red sauce were mediocre at best. The clams and pasta were overcooked and lacked flavor. It appeared that used garlic out of a jar instead of fresh garlic because you definitely can taste and smell the difference between the two. Clams were super chewy and a bit gritty with sand. Lobster Cobb salad was okay once I added more dressing and salt to it. My Cobb salad was missing avocado so I had to ask for that. For the two of us we spent $150 with tip. Our server was a bit slow in refilling drinks and it wasn't busy. Other people helped by bringing out our food and clearing the table. Overpriced for mediocre food. Well I just may be partial, but this quaint little town surrounded by water creates a lovely coastal vibe for this gem. Ambiance is salt life, beach, boating, 360 views of the water, high ceilings, white and blues decor, salt air and seafood, and yacht rock. They offer a really nice varied menu of both small plates and harder dishes most of which are inspired by the sea, but there's something for all tastes and preferences. The raw bar is a must. Great cocktails like the frozé, Mezcal Paloma, and the Hugo spritz. Start with a chowder, fried clam bellies, share the lobster Cobb salad. Beer battered (as it should be!) fish and chips, and the seared scallops over truffle mushroom risotto are solid tasty satisfying menu options. Honestly would be 5 stars for food but the customer service was a miss. My mom is 4 foot eleven so she can't sit in high top chairs because her feet don't touch the bottom. We asked for a table for 2 and they said they had nothing and it would be a 20 minute wait, which would have been fine if we didn't have to get to the airport. After saying that one of the hostesses offered up the sofa in the lounge- which again would have been fine, if there weren't empty tables everywhere. Apparently they keep four top tables for parties of four, even if someone physically can't sit in their tall high top chairs. In spite of that, someone else came along and we only waited a couple of minutes while tables were brought together for us. We were seated in what I called the enclosed porch, which was lovely. We started off with some freshly shucked raw oysters and clam. Those were fresh and tasty. The red sangria was good. For my main entree, I got the mussels, it's on their appetizer menu.
