The expresso martini was absolutely fantastic, that cold foam was light and airy with a good sweet taste. A very solid martini! The halibut risotto was probably one of the best fish meals I've had in the area. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. The risotto and sauce were super savory together and mixed really well with the fish! My only complaint would be some of the chairs there not providing much support. We had dinner here after arriving in Mystic for the night. We were looking for good seafood, a view of the river, and a good glass of wine. It delivered on all plus more! The lobster roll was delicious and very meaty. My husband got a cod sandwich and it was super flavorful. Our server was so nice and explained about the two bridges that move to allow ships to go up and down the river. They have a nice happy hour too, in the bar area but you can make a reservation for a high top bar seat and that counts for happy hour. Reservations suggested as everyone had the same idea .. to take advantage of this wonderful location. Seafood and a water view were my wish and I couldn't have had a most wonderful experience with our family.. A big group of us decided to come by our favorite spot last Friday after work. We all sat outside by the bar. The place was packed everywhere. Our bartender Jorge was so cool to make me a new drink specially for me. A custom White Sangria which I loved. My friends all were happy with the food and drinks. Anniversary in Mystic. It was a beautiful day, so dinner with a view was a priority. Red 36 fit the bill. There is a lot with plenty of free parking for the restaurant. After our dinner, we were easily able to walk over to the downtown area. We got to the restaurant at a few minutes after 5 on a Saturday. There are no reservations taken during summer months (April-September), so we hoped there wouldn't be much of a wait. We were in luck, and got a table outside overlooking water/boats. Perfect. 5-10 minutes later, and we'd definitely have to wait. Our waiter was very nice. Our meals were wonderful. I had the fish & chips. 2 large pieces of fish (I think cod?) and homemade fries. Our first time here and it was disappointing. We've heard such great this about this establishment and we're so excited to try it. The restaurant itself is chic, modern decor and casual. It sits on the water with indoor and outdoor dining. The view is spectacular. It took a while for our server to greet us. The drinks took too long and food was a tad slow as well. We started with the Mystic oysters for $3.25 each as a lunch special. I prefer west coast oysters but they only serve local ones which is fine. The person that shucked them didn't do too good because pieces of shell fell into the meat. I asked for extra lemons and only got two. The creamy clam chowder had good flavor but way too many potatoes than anything else in it. Linguine clams in red sauce were mediocre at best. The clams and pasta were overcooked and lacked flavor. It appeared that used garlic out of a jar instead of fresh garlic because you definitely can taste and smell the difference between the two. Clams were super chewy and a bit gritty with sand. Lobster Cobb salad was okay once I added more dressing and salt to it. My Cobb salad was missing avocado so I had to ask for that. For the two of us we spent $150 with tip. Our server was a bit slow in refilling drinks and it wasn't busy. Other people helped by bringing out our food and clearing the table. Overpriced for mediocre food. It may be a good place for drinks and the water view but I will not return. read more

Well I just may be partial, but this quaint little town surrounded by water creates a lovely coastal vibe for this gem. Ambiance is salt life, beach, boating, 360 views of the water, high ceilings, white and blues decor, salt air and seafood, and yacht rock. They offer a really nice varied menu of both small plates and harder dishes most of which are inspired by the sea, but there's something for all tastes and preferences. The raw bar is a must. Great cocktails like the frozé, Mezcal Paloma, and the Hugo spritz. Start with a chowder, fried clam bellies, share the lobster Cobb salad. Beer battered (as it should be!) fish and chips, and the seared scallops over truffle mushroom risotto are solid tasty satisfying menu options. Honestly would be 5 stars for food but the customer service was a miss. My mom is 4 foot eleven so she can't sit in high top chairs because her feet don't touch the bottom. We asked for a table for 2 and they said they had nothing and it would be a 20 minute wait, which would have been fine if we didn't have to get to the airport. After saying that one of the hostesses offered up the sofa in the lounge- which again would have been fine, if there weren't empty tables everywhere. Apparently they keep four top tables for parties of four, even if someone physically can't sit in their tall high top chairs. We had a lovely lunch, our waiter was adorable, food wonderful, and when we left, surprise, the tables were still empty. Just a request to do a little better for your customers. read more

We were a party of six right after the lunch rush. Hostess was not welcoming and I felt like we were bothering her. In spite of that, someone else came along and we only waited a couple of minutes while tables were brought together for us. We were seated in what I called the enclosed porch, which was lovely. The waitress seemed impatient and not really helpful with the menu (I didn't even realize there was a specials menu until after I had my mind set on my selections). The NE clam chowder was a bit salty for my taste. The crab cake was well-received. We ordered assorted raw oysters but there was no "explanation" of which were what. A group of us ate there on 7/18/26. Our food came out almost immediately. 3 of us ordered the black bean burger. The brioche roll was stale had grill marks on it but was cold. The bean burger was slightly warm and tasted like one from a frozen box not home made. The fries were fine. Our hostess started clearing plates before 1/2 of us were done eating. They added the tip automatically and she didn't deserve 20%. She never smiled till she got her tip. We were told at the end that they only can use 4 credit cards at most so luckily we all had cash. Worst meal that cost me $30 after tax and tip. Never will go there again even though the scenery is gorgeous. I plan to write to the owner. Day trip to Mystic today and this was my husband and my first stop for lunch. Beautiful day and we sat on the covered patio. Gorgeous views of the water and harbor!! It was a brisk day but we were plenty warm as the patio is covered. Service was excellent, no complaints at all. Our server was super nice and did a great job. I got a glass of prosecco which was tasty paired with a cup of the creamy clam chowder. Chowder was very good but perhaps needs more clam and less potato. Red 36 is a seafood restaurant located right on the water. They have tables on the deck and inside. Our server was super fast and friendly; best server I've had in a long time. The place was packed when we went, I understand why! We saved this restaurant for the end of our trip, to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed. We started off with some freshly shucked raw oysters and clam. Those were fresh and tasty. The red sangria was good. For my main entree, I got the mussels, it's on their appetizer menu. I was full and didn't want a big dinner. Wow, that broth was amazing and the portion was great! It had white wine, chorizo, garlic, tomato, basil, and crushed red peppers. Below are the food items we ordered and what we'd rate them. Best thing to get is the clam chowder, calamari and fish and chips! Sounds so simple but this place knows how to do it really well. We kicked things off with a warm, hearty clam chowder, followed by their crispy Bang Bang Shrimp and a fresh dozen Ninigret oysters. There's a lot of tables crammed in together not sure if it's due to the season so there's limited outdoor seating. That being said we were seated close to the covered deck and the door to the deck was constantly opening so we were pretty cold the entire time. Drinks were not the greatest. I ordered a cosmo and didn't finish it. Food was pretty good but the price was kind of high. I got a salad that ended up being $32!! I asked for shrimp in mine and they charged PER shrimp. So I got 4. Salad originally without any protein was $18, which is crazy for just a salad. My boyfriend got a shrimp flatbread which he said was pretty good in flavor. That was $20. Service was very basic. Nothing over the top that stood out. Girls at the front desk seemed overwhelmed/stressed out so wasn't a super welcoming experience in the front desk. Came here with a large work group for lunch. Originally we wanted to go to S&P but the wait was 2 hours so we came here instead. Very spacious and we got a big table with great view of the boats and water. There was lot parking nearby. Service was very good especially when managing large groups. There was 12 of us so we sat at 2 tables they pushed together. We shared the nachos and Thai peanut calamari which I really liked! The calamari was very light and crispy and peanuts were a nice touch. I ordered the lobster roll hot and buttery and it was delicious. Large chunks of fresh lobster on a buttered roll. This occasion was lunch prior to attending the Mystic outdoor art walk. Despite the restaurant having a lot, parking was a bit challenging, but I think it was due to the high number of visitors for the art walk. We found seating at the bar which was inside but with the windows and doors open leading to the outdoor patio, we felt a nice breeze and were still able to soak in the water views. The restaurant has options for indoor and outdoor seating and while there can be a wait, it moves quickly. I ordered the seared 5 spice Ahi Tuna sandwich which was topped with wasabi coleslaw, avocado, crunchy wontons, and cilantro mayo. The portion of tuna was generous, and the combination of flavors was delightful. The sandwich was served with fries which were hot and crispy. My friend opted for the beer battered cod sandwich which was topped with a jalapeno tartar sauce. She gave her sandwich rave reviews as well. If you're traveling to Mystic you NEED to check out Red 36. All other restaurants do not compare to the ambiance, service and quality of food you'll receive once you're here- HANDS DOWN! First off, this place is beautiful. It's situated right on the water overlooking docks with fun boats. The layout of this restaurant is so neat. There is a beautiful bar indoors and almost like a sunroom as you get further into the building. There are multiple levels as well. The coolest area though is their deck. Seriously so beautiful. I could sit out there all day! Our server was super attentive and patient with us while we were tending to our baby. Very family friendly here- I saw a lot of families at lunchtime. The food was delicious! My husband ordered a white clam chowder and it was so flavorful! He also got a lobster roll and said it was top tier in the state. I would agree as I had a few bites of his! For my lunch I got the korean pork lettuce wraps. This was outstanding!! For just an app this filled me up for my lunch. It had so much depth of flavor between the tender pork, pickled veggies, gochujang, and crisp lettuce! Easily would get again! I cannot wait to come back here!
