Welp this was the $32 shrimp scampi, the portions are super small, Laura the waitress grabbed the plates hard and all the silver wear fell on the floor out of anger.pizza was good, chicken Marsala was hard as a rock, drinks were great besides the bugs in the orange juice. service and food could have been better... happy 4th!

Yesterday for fathers Day we hung around in Mystic. It was a beautiful day . This was my first time at AJs Bistro, that's where my dad wanted to go for lunch so why not! It's his day! It was a cute restaurant, on the dark side inside but the patio seating was super cute!! We were greeted and chose where to sit. It was lunch time and not many people were sitting outdoors yet, it was still Kind of early. Service was wonderful!! Menu had a variety of salad, apps, seafood and pasta. Portions looked small but very filling. For those who are GF, only pasta was able to be made GF and there was the salads of course. No separate GF menu, . I had Scallops in vodka sauce with mushrooms and peas. My dad had pollo a la puttanesca. He was very happy with it. We both were, it was savory, delicious and filling!!

4 stars for the bread and the drinks. 2 stars for the Marsala sadly! I looked it up on yelp ahead of time and wanted the marsala for the beautiful pieces of chicken and pillowy looking gnocchi. What I got was some pasta that wasn't gnocchi and 1 chicken tender cut up into 3 pieces. For 3 people we ordered: 2 drinks each, shared 1 salad and bread, each had an entree and shared dessert. Total was $300 for 3. Not the cheapest not the most expensive but I'd say the quality of the Marsala has gone infinitely downhill in the past couple years. Oh well! The chicken parm looked amazing though and the other pasta dish my friend ordered was really good as well. Will be back but skip the Marsala.

This is another favorite restaurant that my husband and I have been going to for over 20 years. The food is delicious! It is a quaint Italian restaurant. We stopped in for happy hour and sat outside under the covered patio. It is a lovely little Oasis where you can dine al fresco. This was the first time dining on the side patio and it was perfect weather for it. They have heaters that we later turned on above our umbrella and it was cozy. We ordered Everything on the happy hour menu and shared. We had the Caesar salad, broccoli rabe with Italian sausage, rigatoni and meatball, and calamari. A wonderful assortment. We later decided to stay for dinner and waited for my daughter's boyfriend to join us. For dinner, I had the carbonara with parpadelle noodles. A creamy Alfredo sauce with Italian sausage, bacon, mushrooms and peas. A very generous amount of protein but I wished I could've more noodles! However, it was the right amount because I was stuffed! My husband had the soupy and garlic pizza. The soupy was not spicy and the garlic was spot on. The crust was a thin crispy crust, very enjoyable. My daughter enjoyed her lobster Roll and side Caesar salad. It was on a buttered hot dog roll and filled to the brim with lobster. Her boyfriend had the chicken parm with rigatoni and he ate it right up! A generous piece of chicken and the sauce homemade. This place is a gem of Mystic and we always have a pleasant experience with the staff and always have a great meal.

Anthony J's gave major small-town vibes and I enjoyed it. I had the Chicken Marsala with gnocchi and enjoyed every bite. We ordered garlic bread to share and it was the best garlic bread I've ever had - highly recommend. The waitress was so welcoming and helpful - adding to the small town sentiment... the table was a bit small especially with respect to the large plates but we made do. Overall, it was a great Italian spot right by the water and I'd gladly go again

Nice wait staff. Easy parking up the road. Clean bathroomS. Bustling Saturday night with lots , made me anxious given COVID. Staff had masks. Salads were fresh with good choices for dressings. Burger was huge!! Margharita pizza was over cooked, like having good sauce and mozzarella on a cracker. And it took sooooo long for our food. Cappuccino was small.

    Chicken parm and ziti meal

We were seated right away but waited for a wait staff for 10 minutes wayyy to long. The food was good when it finally came out. We ordered salads but they never came and so when the meal finally came we told waitress to cancel the salad. She said oh yeah I forgot... yes it would of been nice to have her come while we waited 45 minutes for our meal. She never came back to table. The service was horrible. The food was tasty but expensive. No salad or bread included. The chicken Parmesan dinner was $32 and pizza $24 was costly too. House Salad would of been $12. Nothing to nibble on while the wait was too long. Probably will not go back again. Just not worth it.

Currently docked in: Paris!…read more Wow. Truly a phenomenal dining experience all around and I'm very sad I didn't think to take pictures. We went for an early seating yesterday and bravely brought our 8 month old. This was already a bold ask because this restaurant doesn't scream children but port of call took it with stride. We were accommodated with a highchair and several staff stopped to say hi to our baby. (For his part, our baby was relatively chill although a loud babbler, and no tears which we would call a win). Now onto the product. Absolutely phenomenal. We were wowed from start to finish. Every single drink, dish, and dessert far exceeded our expectations. The happy hour menu is very generously priced and had several favorites off the actual menu, as well as some items which I believe are available all the time. Our server (I'm very sorry I can't think of his name) was fantastic and offered excellent recommendations to like drinks on the current menu based on drinks we said we usually steer towards. Every drink (we had 4 different ones) absolutely knocked it out of the park. This would be an awesome spot for cocktails and apps with friends but is also a superb full service date night spot. We can't (and won't) stop raving about port of call!!!

Let's start with the positives:…read more Strong flavor choices, boldly executed, with notable skill and expertise. Uniquely thoughtful menu with beautiful ingredients. This restaurant provides a higher quality meal than 99% of restaurants in CT. To the detriment of an otherwise fantastic experience: The overall experience here lacks some of the polish you'd expect from a restaurant operating at such a high culinary level. There seem to be consistent breakdowns of the overall communication, planning and operations throughout the restaurant experience. While the service team is friendly, capable, and professional, there are recurring lapses in communication and organization that affect the overall flow of service. These hiccups express a system lacking in polish and organization, perhaps due to a breakdown of cohesion, a weak overall structure, or management issues...? The intimate dining room is a part of the restaurant's charm, but it also leaves little room for error. Seating logistics and pacing require careful management, and we've experienced a few situations where communication between the front and back of house appeared to break down. To the staff's credit, any issues we've encountered have always been handled directly, graciously, and professionally. Port of Call remains a top dining choice, but the operational inconsistencies keep it from feeling like an automatic recommendation every time. Food: 5/5 Servers: 5/5 Finesse/Operations: 2/5

If you can't handle stairs do not come. The website's statement regarding it's accessible patio was not accurate. It looked like one existed but it was closed and they were not seating people there. Sometimes mistakes are made, and websites are not updated... but, my niece had confirmed via phone that this patio was accessible. We were completely blindsided. Members of our family ended up just going back to the hotel because we were a party of 14 people on graduation weekend with no other options. Furthermore, There were only two bathrooms and they were on the first floor. If the patio had been open, these bathrooms would not have been accessible for anyone with mobility issues sitting on that patio. And there was a line, and no soap in one of the two bathrooms On the good side, the dining room was pretty and open air. It was a nice atmosphere and the waitstaff was good. But the food was expensive, and disappointing for the price and the hype. The onion roll in the bread basket was fantastic, and the sour dough was ok, but I didn't love the weird unchopped ceaser salad with discs of bread and parm. It was just frustrating to eat even if the flavors were good. My husband didn't really like the buccatini. I can't really speak for anyone else in our party. It was really going to be a high bar to make up for members of our family having to leave and not being able to celebrate with us. It could probably be a great place if they just got their act together. Other things to keep in mind are that parking in this part of town is beyond insane.
