Welp this was the $32 shrimp scampi, the portions are super small, Laura the waitress grabbed the plates hard and all the silver wear fell on the floor out of anger.pizza was good, chicken Marsala was hard as a rock, drinks were great besides the bugs in the orange juice. service and food could have been better... happy 4th!

Yesterday for fathers Day we hung around in Mystic. It was a beautiful day . This was my first time at AJs Bistro, that's where my dad wanted to go for lunch so why not! It's his day! It was a cute restaurant, on the dark side inside but the patio seating was super cute!! We were greeted and chose where to sit. It was lunch time and not many people were sitting outdoors yet, it was still Kind of early. Service was wonderful!! Menu had a variety of salad, apps, seafood and pasta. Portions looked small but very filling. For those who are GF, only pasta was able to be made GF and there was the salads of course. No separate GF menu, . I had Scallops in vodka sauce with mushrooms and peas. My dad had pollo a la puttanesca. He was very happy with it. We both were, it was savory, delicious and filling!!

4 stars for the bread and the drinks. 2 stars for the Marsala sadly! I looked it up on yelp ahead of time and wanted the marsala for the beautiful pieces of chicken and pillowy looking gnocchi. What I got was some pasta that wasn't gnocchi and 1 chicken tender cut up into 3 pieces. For 3 people we ordered: 2 drinks each, shared 1 salad and bread, each had an entree and shared dessert. Total was $300 for 3. Not the cheapest not the most expensive but I'd say the quality of the Marsala has gone infinitely downhill in the past couple years. Oh well! The chicken parm looked amazing though and the other pasta dish my friend ordered was really good as well. Will be back but skip the Marsala.

This is another favorite restaurant that my husband and I have been going to for over 20 years. The food is delicious! It is a quaint Italian restaurant. We stopped in for happy hour and sat outside under the covered patio. It is a lovely little Oasis where you can dine al fresco. This was the first time dining on the side patio and it was perfect weather for it. They have heaters that we later turned on above our umbrella and it was cozy. We ordered Everything on the happy hour menu and shared. We had the Caesar salad, broccoli rabe with Italian sausage, rigatoni and meatball, and calamari. A wonderful assortment. We later decided to stay for dinner and waited for my daughter's boyfriend to join us. For dinner, I had the carbonara with parpadelle noodles. A creamy Alfredo sauce with Italian sausage, bacon, mushrooms and peas. A very generous amount of protein but I wished I could've more noodles! However, it was the right amount because I was stuffed! My husband had the soupy and garlic pizza. The soupy was not spicy and the garlic was spot on. The crust was a thin crispy crust, very enjoyable. My daughter enjoyed her lobster Roll and side Caesar salad. It was on a buttered hot dog roll and filled to the brim with lobster. Her boyfriend had the chicken parm with rigatoni and he ate it right up! A generous piece of chicken and the sauce homemade. This place is a gem of Mystic and we always have a pleasant experience with the staff and always have a great meal.

Anthony J's gave major small-town vibes and I enjoyed it. I had the Chicken Marsala with gnocchi and enjoyed every bite. We ordered garlic bread to share and it was the best garlic bread I've ever had - highly recommend. The waitress was so welcoming and helpful - adding to the small town sentiment... the table was a bit small especially with respect to the large plates but we made do. Overall, it was a great Italian spot right by the water and I'd gladly go again

Nice wait staff. Easy parking up the road. Clean bathroomS. Bustling Saturday night with lots , made me anxious given COVID. Staff had masks. Salads were fresh with good choices for dressings. Burger was huge!! Margharita pizza was over cooked, like having good sauce and mozzarella on a cracker. And it took sooooo long for our food. Cappuccino was small.

    Chicken parm and ziti meal

We were seated right away but waited for a wait staff for 10 minutes wayyy to long. The food was good when it finally came out. We ordered salads but they never came and so when the meal finally came we told waitress to cancel the salad. She said oh yeah I forgot... yes it would of been nice to have her come while we waited 45 minutes for our meal. She never came back to table. The service was horrible. The food was tasty but expensive. No salad or bread included. The chicken Parmesan dinner was $32 and pizza $24 was costly too. House Salad would of been $12. Nothing to nibble on while the wait was too long. Probably will not go back again. Just not worth it.

Ordering was very easy online, even though the prices seemed a bit high. We ordered $109 worth of food...Arancini ($16), garlic bread with cheese($16), Penne al Vodka with sautéed chicken($32), and the Alfredo with chicken cutlet($38). I was expecting a lot for prices like these. The Arancini were 5 pieces the size of golf balls and the flavor was ok, not worth $16, out garlic bread with cheese ($16) was left out of our order, the penne vodka with sautéed chicken ($32) was dry and there were 5 small pieces of chicken, and the baked penne chicken Alfredo had broken sauce, full of grease and almost inedible...I threw out most of it. I expected so much more from this establishment. The parking lot was packed and parking just to get takeout was challenging, but the food and prices were amazingly disappointing. We may try their pizza to see if that is any better, but I would not recommend the pasta dishes. I can see charging g prices like that if the pasta was homemade, but even that is a stretch. 3 stars is generous

The decor is gorgeous, blending Mediterranean-inspired blue tiling with warm mustard seating and rustic wood accents. The lighting is soft and inviting, and the layout feels spacious yet intimate. It's a beautifully designed space that sets the perfect mood for a great meal. The bar area is beautiful and full of character! I love the mix of the rustic whitewashed wood front and the intricate tile work. The tiered ice display filled with Limoncello and fresh lemons adds such a fun, refreshing touch, and the giant floral centerpiece is stunning. It's a bright, lively spot that's perfect for grabbing a drink. If you prefer dining al fresco, there's a patio and the porch space has a fantastic atmosphere. It feels bright and cheerful thanks to the lively pink flower baskets and the bold blue outdoor furniture. Because the deck is fully covered, you get plenty of shade while still being right next to the walkway. It's a very cute, well-maintained exterior that adds to the overall appeal of the place. The service here is awesome! Our waitress was incredibly sweet and hospitable, and she completely understood that we were on a tight schedule with a bus tour. She did an amazing job of being attentive and accommodating without ever making us feel rushed. The food rolled out in perfectly timed layers, and she even offered to refresh our drinks before we could even ask. I initially thought the garlic bread was a bit pricey but was totally worth $12. The focaccia bread was nicely toasted and seasoned with herb butter and four cheese fonduta. Next was the fried calamari with cherry and banana peppers. The calamari was delicious, seasoned perfectly and was a combination of rings and tentacles. Those who enjoy banana peppers might enjoy that they are lightly fried too resemble the calamari, however I'm not the biggest fan and probably should have asked them to hold them. With them being breaded the same as the calamari is difficult to tell them a part so when your taste buds are gearing up for a bite of calamari and instead you bite into a pepper or can be slightly disappointing. For $19 I would prefer more calamari and less peppers. The salads are very good here too. The Roasted Garlic Caesar features a classic Caesar dressing enhanced with a bright hint of lemon and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. I added salmon as my protein choice, which was cooked beautifully and paired perfectly with the savory, garlicky flavor profile of the salad. This made for a filling and flavorful meal. Tagliatelle - Outstanding homemade pasta and sauce. The tender, shredded short rib ragu is perfectly tossed with fresh noodles. It has an ideal noodle-to-sauce ratio and avoids being overly rich or heavy. A deeply comforting, cohesive dish topped beautifully with parmigiana. Also enjoyed the lobster roll which was served warm with butter on a perfectly toasted brioche bun, accompanied by a side of fries. The rich, melted butter beautifully complemented the sweet lobster meat, and the brioche added a wonderful touch of sweetness and crunch. Really glad that my bus tour stopped here. I'll definitely return and highly recommend!

We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. The regular menu looked creative and appetizing as well. I had their daily oyster ($1.50 each), mussels ($10), and their cutie smash burger ($9). The oysters were from sixpenny on the day I attended. They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal. Will I go back? Definitely.

Just to be fair in this review, My group had already had been seated and ordered by the time I came in. Parking is a bear. I found the atmosphere very comforting with families having a great time talking and enjoying meals. Their was a line for people to get in which is always a good sign. My table had ordered pizza, wings, drinks. Since I came late I ordered a Salad and a bowl of clam chowder. When the pizza came it was a good size pizza one was a meat lovers and the other was pepperoni. By the time I got my order they had almost killed the first pizza and the meat lovers was going down for the count. I was able to get two slices but I had to hit it quick. The pizza was a work of art. Rich thick flavor sauce that you can tell was freshly made with home ingredients that made me think they actually pick up the vegetables that very second to make this fresh hot pizza. The bite on the slice was juicy but not oily like some pizza. My only negative was that I could not get another slice to save my life. My salad was a Caesar Salad that was so big. I shared it with my wife and sister in law. They enjoyed it. that bowl it came it was almost as big as the table. We were having an issue because the pizza's and the other dishes we had ordered made space on the table very limited. My star of my meal was the Clam Chowder. OMG. This one was the best Chowder I have ever had outside of Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco. Rich and thick. Spot on. I only wish they served it in a bread bowl like on the docks in Frisco. I am a fan. Who ever make this I was taken away 10/10/ Summary. my family enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent and friendly. Recommended Yes Yes Yes. S & P Oyster Restaurant and Bar is a very charming and picturesque restaurant sitting on the Mystic River with indoor and outdoor seating, and photographic views of the Mystic River. Each employee is very attentive to your needs, and everyone works together as a team to assure each patron is getting quality service and a great experience. We were greeted at the entrance by the Hostess and promptly shown to a table overlooking the Mystic River. Next we were greeted by Evelina our server. She handed us menus and the daily specials and took our drink order. Upon her return to our table she went over the daily specials asked if we had any questions and if we knew what we wanted or if we needed more time. We both ordered unsweetened ice teas as we had a 2 hour drive back home. My wife and I both enjoyed a delicious bowl of New England Clam Chowder. It was creamy, rich and chock full of clams and not that pasty style you get in so many places. I ordered 6 oysters on the half shell along with 6 littlenecks on the half shell. They were very fresh, plump, juicy and tasted like the sea. I can live off these 2 mollusks. My wife ordered a Harvest Grain Bowl. It was loaded with crispy Brussel sprouts, butternut squash, roasted chickpeas, red onions, heirloom carrots, arugula, dried cranberries, toasted almonds, farro, with an apple cider vinaigrette. She loved it!!! Me being a seafood nut ordered Seafood Ambrosia. YUM, YUM & YUM!!!. It was a combination of cod, shrimp, scallops, crab, and seafood stuffing baked it an individual cast iron frying pan. It was buttery, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. It came with a side Mystic Salad that included artisan greens, radicchio, carrots, red onion, cucumbers, celery, and a honey balsamic vinaigrette. I recommend making a reservation for both lunch and dinner as they are one of the hottest restaurants in Mystic (especially during warmer months). If you have never been here I highly recommend giving it a try, I'm sure you will be as happy and as satisfied as I have always been with S & P.

Let me start by saying the ambiance is wonderful. The place is on the water. Too bad the food…read moredidn't match the ambiance. Went here with my family this year on the Tuesday after Mother's Day and I had hyped the place up based on my wonderful experience last year. I was thoroughly disappointed with the menu selections and the food. The waiter told me they change out their menu from time to time. I sure wish they hadn't because the lump crab dip was delicious but the replacement was spinach and artichoke dip. The artichokes were not blended they were chunks and it was not in a creamy sauce but dry with shredded Parmesan cheese over the top. It was awful. I didn't even eat it. I also ordered the crab cake which wasn't good. Last time I had the crab cake, it was made with chuncks of crabmeat. This time it was shredded crabmeat and a lot of breadcrumbs. My son's girlfriend and my husband both ordered mussels and they each said they were okay. My husband also ordered what we call a crab imperial dish containing different kinds of shellfish, bread crumbs, cream sauce and cheese. Our son ordered a crispy fried chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious. I tried it and it was so good. The chicken was fried light and with tasty Chilean sauce on it.
