One sample that was not requested and one sample 3/4 of an inch and a 2 ounce glass. I know it sounds trivial, but seven dollars is seven dollars. Another bartender listen to us explain that and took it off of our bill. Make sure you check your receipts.

Waitstaff was very pleasant and service was fast. They are a beer garden and while they had a large tap list, it wasn't particularly interesting on the day we were there. Looking at their current tap list it's much better, but I'd still love to see more Belgian beer. The food was good. Their Belgian fries are amazing! I got a chicken schnitzel sandwich which was very tasty, but I was disappointed by the portion size for $16. The bun was your average grocery store burger bun size, and the piece of chicken was smaller than that. My husband's Reuben was good, but not particularly special. Overall, I'd come back again, but there are places in Mystic I'd rather go first. It's a 3.5 for me, but I'll round up for now.

A brunch experience you definitely want to arrive hungry to!!…read more I went to Sunday brunch at Sift bakery and I cannot wait to come back. You pay a flat rate for the food where it is a buffet style and you get the option to choose from a full breakfast (hot meal). Our waitress was so nice and was great about checking in on our dining experience. We definitely ate our money's worth! We started off at the pastry bar, I enjoyed the guava and cheese danishes & a mini chocolate croissant. Their spinach and cheese danish was also so tasty!! Then made our way through the charcuterie bar where there was an assortment of fine cheeses and meats, as well as the option for a fruit parfait which my friend really enjoyed. Finally, our favorite part of the buffet was the raw bar (which we could not stay away from). The oysters and clams were so fresh and cleaned exceptionally well- their mignonette was one of the best that I've had! The last 'course' of brunch was a dessert tower!!! I cannot wait to dine here again in the warmer months, this was epic.

Ambiance is beautiful. $65 price tag for brunch is steep. Was it worth it? The jury is still out…read more It includes a buffet of raw bar (oysters, shrimp and clams), a couple of side salads, cheeses, meats. The pastries and deserts that are included are underwhelming. Think smaller versions and less popular options from Sift bakery downstairs. Like, come on... you have beautiful baked goods for sale downstairs but you provide basic, small samples for the buffet? This was disappointing. We could order one a la carte entree for our main. I asked the server her recommendation between 2 dishes. I didn't end up eating my meal as it was not cooked as ordered and frankly, was not that good (avocado toast). If you are going to command a large price tag for brunch, it should feel special. This didn't quite. Finally the deserts were all just not that good. Each of the confections were pretty but sickeningly sweet. The other dessert options just didn't meet the mark. There are so many delicious offerings downstairs that are hard to choose from. I was blown away by how bad the desert choices we were given on our (5)? towers were. The service was ok. We were a party of 20. We had one server. I have worked in many restaurants. For a party of this size, 2 servers would have been more appropriate. I was bussing the table myself at one point. Of course the gratuity was guaranteed on a party this size, and the server knew this, but the service could have been better.

The beer selection is always solid--plenty of familiar favorites plus a few rotating picks that keep things interesting without overwhelming you with choices. The Irish‑leaning menu is where they really shine. Comfort classics, generous portions, and that cozy pub vibe that makes you want to settle in for a while. Whether you're craving something hearty or just need a plate to go with your pint, they've got you covered. Live music adds a great energy without drowning out conversation, and the staff deserves a shoutout--they're faithful, friendly, and keep the place humming even on busy nights. You can tell they care about the regulars and newcomers alike. Not quite a perfect five, but absolutely a Mystic go‑to when you want good beer, good food, and a warm pub atmosphere. Cheers

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.
