I finally tried Jeremiah's after seeing it pop up in search results for quite some time. We were visiting from the South Shore of Long Island, and the internet still hasn't figured out that two bodies of water separate us from Mystic. Having made the trek, I'm really glad we did. We ordered the branzino special, prepared Spanish-style with sausage and tomato confit, along with the grilled salmon in beurre blanc. Both were outstanding. There is a kids' menu (contrary to one of the other reviews) , and I have to say the service was exceptional. I was dining with my young daughter during prime dinner hour (around 8), yet we never felt overlooked. The staff was attentive, warm and genuinely welcoming. I really liked this spot. We had reservations for inside but decided the tavern was the best for us, and we sat outside. My oysters were perfection, clean, delicious, so good. The only downside was my husband got the clams & they were a little sandy, but, our overall meals were food & didnt take away from our experience. I always like to share pros&cons, no one is perfect. Our server was a nice young man, but he also was unsure of the specials & wasnt well versed in them, but again, his charm&friendly demeanor made up for it. I had the blackened chicken BLT which was super tasty, and the sweet potato fries were really good. Others at my table had hot honey chicken&beer battered cod. All the food was good. I live in Mystic, and have been aware that Jeremiah's had only opened it's doors about this time last year, but had yet to have a chance to try it out. Today was the day, while downtown for the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival. After looking at the menus on their website, and seeing the prices listed, I decided to give the Tavern a try, for their lobster roll in particular. Was fairly quiet and was wide open seating at the bar. No sooner do I sit down, while glancing at the draft beer menu, I'm told their entire beer tap system had just gone down, and they were going to need their vendor to come and attempt repairs. So no draft beer at all. That's unfortunate, especially on a weekend, art festival weekend no less. And, the bartender commented that their cooling system was old and needed to be upgraded. That's not good. So I ordered a bottle beer, off the not very extensive bottle menu, with no offered discount. Strike one. Next, as I'm looking over the menu, I notice that the pricing on a fair amount of the menu is not the same as what they have on their website. Just to name a few: bowl of clam chowder on their website $10, restaurant menu $14. 40% increase! Lobster roll with fries on their website $30, restaurant menu $32. And so on, and so on.... I bring that up to the bartender, and he has no idea, but says he'll let the manager know. That was the last I heard of that. Then, a while later, coincidentally, the manager comes behind the bar to retrieve something, and asks if everything is ok and do I need anything. I bring up the price discrepancy and show him, he's surprised himself, and says that they have a whole team that handles the site, etc, and that he'll let them know. But thanked me for noticing and pointing it out. No offer to honor the online price or anything. No comp on a simple beer. Nothing. Ok, strike 2. So, I enjoyed my beer, lobster roll and fries (although I wouldn't get the Best of Both Worlds Lobster Roll again, not for me), and requested the check. No surprise, nothing taken off the bill. Now, I'm not out for any kind free ride, and I always pay for good quality food, and start my tipping at 20%. But, this is certainly not the kind of service I would have expected given the circumstances. Your taps are broke, you make allowances, you're still not losing money on your bottle beer, we all know that. And, if you've got differences between your online website and your actual menus, that's a problem. That could actually be considered false advertising. So, in summary, I'd like to think I'll go back and give them another try. Let's not forget that the locals are gonna be the only thing that keep a lot of those Mystic restaurants afloat, especially throughout the winter, etc. The owners of Jeremiah's owns several other restaurants in Mystic, so they're not losing a dime in making things like this right. Hopefully this was a really off day all around for them, and they can learn from things like this, and take this good constructive feedback, and make things right going forward. Thank you. read more

Great, relaxed dinner! The service is friendly and accommodating, and we didn't feel rushed at all even though we stayed a while. We got the Atlantic mussels, crab stuffed sole and grilled salmon. 4.5 stars! Jeremiah's tavern has great food and great vibes. The tavern is below the restaurant where the outside patio is. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Drinks were yummy and the service was great with friendly staff. The area downstairs is small so it can get loud, especially because there's a bar down there as well, so just be aware if you're looking for something on the quiet side. Perk is that they have their own little parking lot (a few spots) but still a win in Mystic! Definitely recommend. read more

Christy was amazing at the bar slinging drinks for large parties and taking care of the bar area as well. Very friendly and professional interactions from the whole staff which was great! Good selection of beer, wine and liquor to choose from. Menu has a bit of everything to keep everyone appeased! The hot honey chicken sandwich was great and service was fast! Great atmosphere with music in the background able to still have conversations easily! Service was terrible! There were 6 of us and only one liked their dinner. Two ordered the exact same thing (steak) and one was full of gristle and well done. (Both were ordered medium rare.) The sea bass was very thin and overcooked to the point of being so dry I couldn't eat it. We did order 3 desserts to share and after 15 minutes our waiter came by and asked if we wanted anything else. He forgot our desserts! Very disappointed because we went with another couple shortly after they opened last year and service and food was excellent. read more

Servers were friendly but pretty slow. The quality of the chicken blt was not great. There was a dry piece of toast placed on a lot of bacon and a tiny piece of dry chicken. I asked for aoli for the piece of bread but it took so long to arrive that I just ate the dry sandwich open faced. read more

My mom was in town visiting and we were attending an event in Mystic and wanted somewhere to eat afterwards. We ate downstairs in the tavern at Jeremiah's. The menu had several things that sounded good. My mom decided to get a burger; she rarely eats meat but it sounded good to her that night. She said it was the best she's had. It was really well seasoned and super flavorful. I had the fish sandwich and really enjoyed it as well. We got the cornbread appetizer as a dessert and it was amazing! The honey butter had a touch of spice, there were sweet and salty notes in the cornbread... just perfect. We loved the ambiance and service as well. My mom loved it so much, we ended up adjusting plans so we could go back another night. I tried the burger and clam chowder this time. It was just as good as the first meal we had. I highly recommend trying the tavern and I'll have to head back to eat upstairs in the restaurant as well. read more

We had our first visit and it was for Thanksgiving dinner which was wonderful! Our server Mylissa was friendly and attentive! The ambiance was very nice, warm and inviting with an elegant, bright old world charm. Our traditional turkey dinner was tasty and plentiful. The brussel sprouts were a nice treat. Definitely will be visiting again and also want to try their Tavern downstairs with an inviting cozy atmosphere. The manager and the hostess both stopped by tables to check on customers. This little restaurant appeared to be closed until we saw signs directing us behind the building. We found a nice patio with a small indoor bar. It was called the Tavern at Jeremiahs. I couldn't tell if it was a new venture or an old one that was rebranding. It had a very odd feel to it. The server told me they were adding breakfast, so that added to the mystery. The food was good. The service was slow in proportion to the size of the lunch crowd. Four stars is a little high but three seemed too low. have enjoyed the tavern for happy hour many times and wanted to try upstairs. unfortunately we were disappointed in food. the food lacked flavor, dinner was delivered in various times for our party of 4 (20 min apart). waited so long for a fork that we had to go up to the bartender. flounder was dried out, salmon had no flavor, muscles were bland. We live in Mystic and this is the second place to go here after original restaurant. Was blown away. Oysters and shrimp to start were fresh and on point. We got short rib and mushroom fettuccine and it was amazing. We ended with a strawberry rhubarb dessert. The drinks, wine and food were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be going back. I can only speak from what I got but the hot honey chicken wasn't the best there could have been. Looked good but small piece of chicken and dark meat. The bread, pickles, sauce, everything else was good, maybe I got a flop. Fries were good, pretty standard, Caesar salad more cheesy than anything but still good. Service was amazing, very attentive staff. Sat in the outdoor patio and that was beautiful. Sadly, on food alone, the star of the show did not perform well. Try other food options though! read more

Nobody asked me to pen this review. I am doing this on my own volition as the food was very reasonably priced and phenomenal in terms of flavor, preparation and texture. Unlike other places that rely on gimmicks like "Happy Hour" and dare I say pushy servers, Jeremiah's has varied prices in terms of beer selection and your budget is respected. The clam chowder was - by far- one of the finest if not downright best I have ever tasted. It is old school but with a very subtle modern twist. The clams were perfectly cooked and unnecessary shells for example were removed. The potatoes were not mushy or hard- just cooked perfectly. I never ate potatoes that were in such a sweet textural zone. It is almost like when you have al dente pasta that convinces you even though you are not an admirer of that cooking style. Then, came the lobster roll. Forget the prenup and in law blessings, let's just get married. Unlike other rolls where quantity and quality are conspicuously hidden, the meat selection was as generous as it was varied. Further, this roll was not drenched in butter or broiled like some places that cover lack of flavor or flavors that may not reflect freshness. I am not a fan of fried foods, but the fries that were an added plus were also incredible in terms of taste, size and overall gastronomic constitution. Lovely view, lovely people and you don't feel hustled or judged. They are confident they serve good food but never arrogant. You do not get the "how is everything" or "can I get you something else." Rather, they live and let live and in this discreet manner, you are able to enjoy the present moment. I should add that I witnessed the restaurant being cleaned in the morning as I sat in the nearby bakery. I've never seen such a thorough cleaning even though I've traveled far and wide in this globe including countries and cities that are cleaner than most urban centers in America. In hindsight, this caring approach inspired me to return a few hours later as they clearly protect and cherish their clientele. read more

Lucky " locals" so happy to welcome Jeremiah's ( the upstairs , recently opened) Restaurant to the neighborhood!! Our second time there for dinner ( make a res -the secret is out!) after a few fun visits to the cozy ,casual pub below over late summer / early Fall for L or drinks. This has it all..gorgeous atmosphere, not too bright, caring servers, no loud music ( altho , alas, a few VERY loud patrons ), nice varied menu and fun/ knowledgeable bartenders who came over to chat/ check on us as our table was nearby. Bar was also filled with happy customers. Great location w some parking, lots of windows- can't wait for deck season! I loved my generous lobster fettuccini, Chicago-born hub loved his filet, rare as requested with yummy sides! The chocolate / rum dessert was devine - lucky we could walk off a few calories on the way home! Not a" cheap" night out but priced similarly to several other wonderful places in town.." We just stopped in for drink before a tour but we really enjoyed our drinks. Recommend: lychee cocktail. The service was quick and efficient. The outside patio was gorgeous and relaxing, very inviting presence. We had Tom as our waiter and he was very attentive to ensuring we were allowed to relax and enjoy our time there. In the event we have more time on our visit back to Mystic, we promise to try the food, as it looked irresistible, but had to stay strong for our dinner reservations upcoming. read more
