Really cute bakery/restaurant in mystic village that was a great vibe for a weekend brunch. The inside was well decorated, and the menu had plenty of options without being overwhelming. Cocktails were great and fairly strong. The two sweet dishes we tried were pretty good, but the savory items definitely looked more unique so would try those next time. Service was friendly as well. Overall a great place to get a bite and some tasty drinks.

Just stopped in with a couple others for some coffee and light bites. Toast + Tonic has a lot of trendy options to choose from, everything seemed pretty reasonably priced. I split a grilled cheese which was a bit greasy/buttery, but my hot latte was great. I did not get a flavored latte but someone in my party got the oatmeal cookie iced latte and enjoyed that one (it was pretty sweet).

Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend making an advance reservation if you are going to be in town. It wasn't crowded when we got there at 10:30, but it quickly filled up. I loved my oatmeal cookie latte with oat milk, and my pumpkin French toast. I would have gone back the next day for something more savory but when I woke up they were already booked out. Also, this place is adorable.

Came by for brunch with a few friends. We needed a bit of relaxation while catching up. We decided to sit outside. The tables were dusty and understandably since the parking lot is right there. I asked the waiter to please wipe table or allow me to do it, and she did immediately. We ordered freshly squeezed juices. Loved the carrot ginger juice. We had coffee and lots of yummy food.

We went here after walking around mystic village and it is a cute restaurant, but the service was average at best. We were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait but it was definitely closer to 40 minutes. Service once we actually sat down wasn't great either, our water cups sat empty for over half the meal and we had to wait awhile for the waiter to bring us the bill. Food was average, especially the french toast. The food was definitely not good enough to make up for the poor service. Overall not a horrible experience but we won't be rushing to come back anytime soon.

The perfect brunch place after a run on a Sunday around 10. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes but it went by pretty quickly. The inside is cute and has a nice atmosphere. The menu has a variety of brunch items and they all sounds so good. They also have a case of pastries and desserts when you walk in that all look delicious. Our server was prompt and very friendly. I ordered the chicken sammy and loved it!The apples and fig jam worked very well with the arugula on the baguette. I thought it was a fair price of $16.25 and left very full. I would definitely recommend this place to other people!

Super cool atmosphere with a bake shop up front and restaurant in the bigger portion. We tried the sweet potato bowl and the sweet potato toast. Everything was delightful. Service was a tiny bit slow but we didn't mind.

My sister and I came by Toast + Tonic this past Saturday morning for brunch around 11:30. When you enter there's a small bakery section to the right, so I knew I'd be getting some pastries before I left. There was no wait so the host sat us right away. The place is pretty small but super pretty, great setting for brunch with friends, and it seems like they have outdoor seating in the warmer months. What threw me off was how long we sat without anyone coming to our table. Someone dropped waters off after 15 minutes and said nothing. Our waitress came over after 20 minutes, apologized for the wait. I had seen her running around with other tables so I feel like they were just understaffed or in a rush but there were only ~8 tables so it surprised me. We both ordered the brioche french toast, and got the bacon and roasted potatoes to share. We'd told the waitress we needed to leave by 12:30 (sis had work) and by then it was already noon. She said she'd ask the kitchen to rush it, which we really appreciated, but rushed it was Our bacon and potatoes were delicious luckily, but my sister's french toast was so undercooked, the center was still wet and eggy. Mine was cooked but tasted strongly of pumpkin? They were kind enough to comp her french toast, but it was a little disappointing. I still wanted to take pastries for the road, so we got a red velvet cupcake, a raspberry swirl cupcake, and a lemon bar. The lemon bar was delicious, I would definitely recommend. The cupcakes, however, were mid at best. Neither my sister nor I liked the raspberry swirl (tastes artificial), and the red velvet was pretty flavorless. We will not be returning :(

Cute place. Food was very good, they had bakery options as well that I didn't try. Coffee was good and staff was very nice. I'd definitely go back! No complaints

We had breakfast at Toast + Tonic last weekend when we were in Mystic and had a nice time! Their menu is really broad (egg dishes, sweet breakfast options, bowls, toasts, breakfast sandwiches) - something for everyone. I'm in love with their deviled egg of the week concept - I love a deviled egg, and the deviled egg of the week when we visited was delicious! It's a charming spot, with a great breakfast menu. I'd be happy to return!

"You know it's good when you are reaching for your next bite while you're still chewing your last!" We didn't have super high expectations but this place was incredible! Service, food, and atmosphere 10/10. Good portions, incredible fresh taste, and overall great experience. We can't decide if the Bleu sandwich(think bleu cheese BLT) or the Chicken Sammy(grilled chix/fresh apples/fig jam-YUM) was more delicious.

What a cute place!! I'm sure it's jam packed in the summer time but it was just pleasantly busy this last weekend. The owner came over and served us herself and was super nice. She shared how she made the plant display on the wall which was just charming. The food was tasty. Between the four of us we had the classic Benny, frittata, French toast, toast w/feta and tomato and cucumber - sides were roasted potatoes (regular and sweet), sausage, chicken sausage, and the highlight of the meal in my opinion, the deviled egg of the week with dill and cucumber. Everything was really good with a very creative menu and some delicious looking pastries to go. Definitely a place to stop while in Mystic for some breakfast!

Outstanding breakfast, the crab omelette was cooked beautifully with a lot of delicious filling. The Irish coffee was the best I've ever had. Pork sausage was juicy, perfectly seasoned. Service was exceptionally friendly. Many creative and delectable sounding dishes on the menu, will be returning regularly!

With its Latin American focus, I felt like the Peruvian chicken would be the best bet. Plus it was listed first on the menu (unlike concert setlists the best isn't usually saved for last - what's the deal with The Killers opening with Mr. Brightside? - but I digress). This was superb, partly thanks to the salsa verde, but also due to the excellent basil bread. I also enjoyed the mint lemonade. The local customers, like many Yelpers, raved about the Chinese BBQ sandwich and said I should get it next time. I had a moment of indie-rock snobbery and thought I can get Chinese sandwiches anytime in NYC, but I was curious about the emphatic praise. For a second I pretended I couldn't possibly get a second sandwich. So with some self-delusion combining "I didn't eat breakfast" and "these nice people told me to get another one" I got the BBQ sandwich. There were a lot of intriguing options to choose from. I had the chilaquiles ($15) and a Cacio Pepe doughnut ($4). The chilaquiles had corn tortilla chips, salsa Verde, salsa Macha, cotija, white onion, cilantro, and a fried egg. The chips appeared to be homemade, and they were tremendous along with the salsa Verde and Macha. There was a nice kick to the salsas and a perfect crunch from the chips. However, it just felt like the dish was mostly chips. I felt like more toppings could be added or an additional egg. The fried egg was also a little overcooked, guess when ordering, we could have specified how we wanted it to be cooked. The doughnut was okay. The sourdough base was very solid, but essentially just a lot of cheese on top. I was not sure what to expect regarding this type of doughnut, but this was the least optimal choice. Will I go back? I would.

Since Pasta was in the name, I figured it might be more of a market than a grinder shop and I decided to visit. It was actually more of a grinder shop that sold some fresh pasta and sauces and things that you would expect a grinder shop to have. I honestly thought about walking out without buying anything, but I kept thinking about that awesome looking Italian Trio (basically like an Italian Combo) grinder. I decided to order a small, take some pics and a couple of bites, and save the rest for later since I had lunch plans. This grinder was my ideal Italian Combo. First off, the small was huge. Full size at most places. I ate it over the course of two days. I ordered it with lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, cucumbers, provolone, Oil and Vinegar, Salt and Pepper, and Mayo. The three meats were pepperoni, Genoa salami and capicola. The bread was good, fresh and up to the job of holding the ingredients. There were about six slices of meats, but they folded them around the inside of the bun (cut on one side) so you were really getting about 12 layers in each bite. And the inside was stuffed with the veggies and other toppings. So stuffed that the toppings fell out as you were taking bites. But that was actually great from my perspective, because you could just pick up the fallen toppings and put them exactly where you were going to bite next. I've been to a lot of highly rated grinder shops in CT. I don't think I've had a better Italian combo. The ingredients were all great. It was a well constructed sandwich. You got bits and pieces of most of the stuff in each bite. Ingredients were in the right proportion. It was salty. Acidic. Juicy. Great contrasting textures. This was a text book Italian Combo Grinder. Now if you live near Mystic, getting a grinder from Pasta Fresca is a no brainer because you can take it home. If you're not from the Mystic area, there was a bit of seating. Seating may be hit or miss though. In any event, if you can figure out where you're going to eat the Italian Trio, you're going to love it. Can't believe I've never heard of this place. 5 Stars

They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
