This restaurant was recommended to me to get some breakfast around the area. Wanted to try a new place so why not. Driving in there is a hidden parking lot on the left side of the restaurant. Walking in it the host greeted us and asked us to sit anywhere we like. It is a cute place with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. It was a bit humid out so we ate inside. When we sat, we were told that there is a coffee and tea bar. I thought that was cute and efficient. You get up, grab a mug and pour your own hot drink. I order the sampler which had a little of everything and my fiancé order the blueberry pancakes. We didn't know what to expect but the portions was huge. The French toast was good and the pancakes were normal nothing special. The home fries was a small portion on the plate. The bacon, eggs and sausage were good. To be honest I didn't need 4 slices of toast. Two max would have been good enough. My fiancé enjoy his blueberry pancakes. We didn't finished what we order cause it was so much. Overall great place if you want that diner style breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back. read more

A quick breakfast stop and was well worth it. The breakfast club was the perfect size with eggs done over medium as requested. I love corned beef hash and this did Not disappoint. Asked for well done with a lot of crisp and they were on point. The hot chocolate could have been in a larger mug because it was Chocolaty and hot but was gone before I blinked. Servers were courteous and food came out fast and hot. Interior has a diner feel without the diner look. Reasonably priced and perfect for a small town breakfast eatery. My only big complaint was the handicap parking was not really accessible to the building. It was a walking challenge for me to go from the back of the restaurant, around d the building, and back to the front. If you have mobility challenges, may be best to be dropped off in front. This is my favorite diner in the country. The food and portion are all amazing. The servers are always so friendly and attentive. I love the self serve coffee bar, and the coffee is actually really good. If I didn't live in the west coast, this would be the kind of place I'd want to be at every weekend. When Pigs Fly is an institution in the area for breakfast. Anyone here who wants a true local CT experience should make it a point to come. Known for their eclectic decor, delicious food and hefty portions, WPF hit the mark this weekend as always! This time around, we ordered a Super Scramble along with the Sausage and Gravy. Both were so filling, with eggs cooked perfectly. Potatoes extra crispy as we ordered. Awesome sourdough toast. Corned beef hash also good. Self serve coffee had a good variety of flavors as well, I mixed French vanilla and regular (with a splash of cream)! It used to be cash only, but you can now use a card to pay, which made things easy as well. Never regret coming here, excited to return next time I'm in the area! read more

First visit. Ordered there for takeout, so I didn't pay attention to atmosphere. Waiter was helpful and patient. My wife enjoyed the turkey club wrap but I lived the burger. Got real medium rare meat and paid extra for bacon, mushrooms and cheese. Was offered raw or sautéed onions too got them cooked. The meat was appropriately seasoned, but the real flavor bomb was also due to the very generous extras... no skimping. It was a delightful burger on a tasty bun. My 1 criticism is there were no napkins included and I didn't think to ask for any. Messy, delicious burger! I recommend you check them out. I'll be back. read more

So visiting from nyc and we ran into this place for some breakfast to go . I ordered the sampler for my husband that came with sausage , eggs, bacon , homefries, bread, 1 slice of french toast and a pancake. I had the country scrambler that is scrambled eggs with onion, mushrooms and sausage with homefries. The portions are generous. The omelet scramble was very tasty. The homefries needed serious seasoning. It is just cut up potatoes no pepper or onion. Just potatoes. They lacked salt entirely. The pancakes were okay. As was the French toast. The coffee set up was nice as they offer an open bar for as much coffee as you want. The coffee as i have experience in the New England area in general is not great. However, you can just walk up and get more coffee and fix it the way you like. It has the flying pig themed logo in the windows. And gives off that eclectic 1960 themed cafeteria look with light blue and white checkered floors. We were visiting for the memorial day weekend. I don't know if the staff were overwhelmed with the holiday rush but when asking questions they answered but their facial expressions screamed im bothered. The food was okay. The place was clean. Such a cute place. First time visiting. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in. They have decor that is piggy inspired. Reminds me of mom and pop restaurants from years ago. Ask for coffee to start. He told me that they had a coffee bar and that I could help myself to whichever coffee I'd like to choose. Walked over to a little makeshift coffee bar near the register. Again very cute and simple. The normal cups are on the right side of the cash register. Turnaround for your tea and coffee add in's like cream, milk and sugar. Highly Recommend their Crème Brûlée coffee. Yum. I ordered their Drew Omelette. It came out quickly even though they had a full seating if guests at the time. It was Delicious. They can be made to order which is great. I was able to add in the roasted Red peppers and it gave the omelette a nice bit of flavor. Also ordered their Banana Bread that is homemade and they were able to toast it so it had a little crisp to it, that I like. The menu had a ton of items to choose from and the waiter was very knowledgeable of it and was able to rattle off more options than I knew what to do with but happy he did. I did not feel rushed either. They brought me my normal... a to go box. Really was a nice first visit. I would definitely bring my family here when they come to visit. If you can, ask for Elias. Parking is always hit or miss for their back parking lot. We were able to get a spot and seated quickly. The waitress came over three times the entire time but we were assisted frequently by the bus boy. She only came over to take our food order, bring us the food and bring out the check. Pretty busy but got our food quickly. I ordered the banana bread french toast. My favorite local breakfast place! This is one of the few places I go where I struggle to order because there are so many good menu choices, such as the various Scrambles. And then, there is the specials board. The specials are always so good and a bit unusual, such as a pulled pork omelette and wonderful pancake and French toast options. I also love the flavored coffees and that you can help yourself. The servers are exceptional too. Fast, friendly and genuinely cheerful. We had a late brunch. Service was friendly. The menu seemed good but flavours left much to be desired. We had the corned beef and sauerkraut omelet, pistachio French toast, grits and a tuna melt. The omelette was not well seasons and lacked sufficient flavor from the ingredient that were present. The home fries that came with all meals were absolutely disappointing. They were 1/2 in x 1/4 in bits of potato which closer to the consistency needed for mashed potatoes than home fries. Proper home fries should be at least 1 inch cubes so that they could get crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The pistachio French toast was just a pistachio loaf cake lightly dipped in batter with a drizzle of a confectioners sugar glaze. All in all it disastrously sweet. The tuna melt and grits were standard. We will not be headed back there in a hurry. read more

This is my go-to favorite breakfast location on the Shoreline. They offer everything you could possibly want and all with good quality. The decorating is a bit kitchy in the most loving wonderful way. It's a place you can stop to feel joy while enjoying some seriously delicious breakfast foods. If you've never tried anything here I would recommend their breakfast sampler. You'll leave overly full but it gives you everything you could want for breakfast. Bonus that the pancakes are the fluffiest pillows you could eat. Savor that up! Parking in back. Handicapped accessible ramps leading into restaurant. Cash only but there's an ATM inside (with fee) - so bring cash if possible. Plenty of refillable coffee and tea that you grab yourself. Also a lot of seating options. If there's a wait you shouldn't expect it for too long since there are that many tables. Also in a convenient location just off of route 9 near Harkness. read more

WOW! OMG! What else can I say. This is a place you should not miss. That is very easy to do because if it's location. If you blink you will miss it. All the parking, which is plentiful, is all in the back which is accessible through a very narrow strip. The inside is very clean, unique and eclectic. I loved it! I have never smelled such a clean bathroom. Not a fetish just saying it smelled so fresh. The coffee is self served. Their coffee station has a variety of coffees and mugs or paper cups to use. They have a very large specials board so make sure you read them. The menu's uniqueness definitely matches the decor. I had the Portuguese omelette which had linguica and roasted peppers. I also had the grilled sourdough toast. The portions were good and the food was very tasty. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito and he loved it. I was too busy enjoying my order to ask what was inside his burrito and loved it so much that he ate to quickly for me to see. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Her name was Kim. We knew by the line out front that this place would be worth the wait. You're able to get coffee while you wait, which was really nice. I got the "Somewhere Special", a favorite from the sister restaurant "Somewhere in Time" - Absolutely heavenly. The best way to eat broccoli for breakfast- covered in cheese and bacon. Very good breakfast place with a nice earthy vibe and which can attract a crowd. So go about 15-20 minutes before you want to eat, enjoy the coffee while you wait for your table (ideally on the porch outside chatting with your fellow would-be diners), and then enjoy a great breakfast. But given the vibe and the menu I wanted it to be better than it was -- hence 4 stars instead of 5. While the service was great -- and they manage the line well -- but the food just didn't quite deliver. The breakfast quesadilla was good (and green), but not outstanding. The french toast was great, but the blueberries atop it (ordered in addition) were flavorless and we didn't eat them. The ham/cheese/spinach omelette was good, but a touch dry and the filling all loaded to one side. Make no mistake, the food was very good and I'd come here again. But with the vibe and the crowd, I was hoping for more. It's easy to miss driving by -- the sign is small. In general, look for the place with the people waiting outside and then turn right *immediately* into the narrow lane to the parking lot in back. Cash only, beware! read more
