This small cafe is the only one in this tiny town.. All locals known everyone in the cute place. They serve breakfast and lunch. Desserts like ice cream, cookies and muffins are offered. Small gifts are also for sale. There are tiny booths and a counter to eat your meal. The owner was super sweet, We ordered a tuna salad sandwich, egg salad sandwich and fried egg sandwich. We also took home some Death by Chocolate ice cream. The meal was good. The ice cream was delicious with dark chocolate chips and rich creamy ice cream. A great location, perfect hometown vibe... oh, and delicious food! My wife and I make this a regular stop every single time we're in the area. Carson's is a small, hometown diner that is small inside but worth any wait you might have... and even if there is a wait, it usually isn't long - as people tend to move pretty swiftly in and out of there. The service in there is always great and the staff are very friendly. They make you feel like a regular even if you only go once or twice a year. The bacon pesto Benedict is one of the best breakfast items I've ever ordered at a restaurant... yes I said that. It's absolutely amazing. This particular time, my wife also got the sweet bread French toast. That was insanely good as well. They always hit the spot with their food. Cooked perfectly and just the right portions. We ordered a malted maple milkshake, and it must be known that they did not use real maple syrup, but maple flavored syrup. Nonetheless it was a spectacular milkshake. I also ordered a BLT, and it was made on nice sourdough with a satisfying amount of bacon. The decor is classic and cute. Service is good. Prices are a bit high with $9 for a milkshake. read more

Service was horribly bad- young girls on college/ H. S. Break taking orders. Did not welcome upon entering- did not ask anything. Deers in the headlights. Failed to deliver one breakfast that was-on order. Manager and owner not paying attention on a beautiful Friday. Disappointed but decided it would not wreck our day. No one checking on tables or asking how is your service. Restaurant 101 skills missing. ‍. I wish the best for them they have a beautiful thing going. Just don't take it all for granted. The....and I mean, THE...greatest lobster I've ever had, is from Carson's Store. How did we stumble upon it you ask? We drove past here the day before when we decided to try having a lobster roll at Ford's, and I commented how adorable this storefront was. Little did we know, that this really is a town diner, that will transport you to the set of an American good-feel movie. No reservations, and everyone here addresses each other by first name. I didn't think places like this still existed; they're hiding in Noank! Hubby and I got the only two seats available at the bar that were directly in front of the AC yesterday morning. I really didn't mind, and loved how intimate and chill this vibe was. We were given coffee - and I mean, it was DAMN good coffee - in these cozy beige and green striped mugs that fit perfectly in your hands. I was HUGGING my coffee. The menu had alot of variety, but my eyes honed in on the lobster eggs Benedict, and Steve's on the lobster, bacon, and avocado omelette, with $19 each as the price tag, we didn't really care, because Carson's just feels "special". There was a little bit of a wait, but I couldn't stop looking around the amazingly cozy and yet familiar diner. No phones are used here, and I totally stuck out like a weirdo taking pictures of my food. The locals were indifferent, and new we were the suckers stuck in front of the AC - 2nd cup of coffee now. The food came and I had to catch my breath - it was literally a beautiful sight to see, and really looked like it jumped out of the pages of a Food Network magazine. The lobster to egg ratio was 1:1, and the plate was so perfect, I could've cried. The taste is indescribable; you need to experience here for yourself. Steve and I ate in silence; no sharing was to be had. I really hope Carson's Store continues to be a surprising hidden gem, and that it stays the way it is for many generations to come! Once again a reliable and tasty set of meals three days running as I'd hoped. . Breakfast, breakfast, lunch. The omelets, as always again tasty and filling meals, three days running. From great omelets to smothered home fries and turkey bacon melts the food and service hit the spot I'm happy to say. And an end of day malt to take down to the river was just the thing. We sailed into Noank for a three night stay and stopped at Carson's for breakfast the first two mornings. Super pet friendly on the porch, where they add tables to accommodate the weekend crowd. Good, basic diner style eating with good, friendly service. Breakfast options are limited in Noank but you won't be settling if you give Carson's a try. read more

Let me start by saying that this is nothing short of a gem!!! Carson's was recommended by one of our boating friends, and we're glad he did. It is small but very nice. There is counter stool seating of about 10. The decor is 50's deco that has been maintained nicely. There are 3-2 person booths and I do mean 2 people. I had the Lobster three egg omelette with lots of fresh chunks of lobster, spinach and provolone cheese on top of it. The home fries that came with it were Redskin baby potatoes that had been pre-baked, seasoned and then fried with a nice crust very good! You have your choice of toast. My husband had the Irish three egg omelette which was chock-full of they're homemade corned beef, swiss cheese and sauteed onions. This also came with their home fries and your choice of toast. They also serve lunch which I will have to try their lobster grilled cheese! Their hours are 7 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon. We will definitely be adding this to our breakfast stops. read more

I think we found Carson's Store because I was having a bad morning, and my pup is named Carson, so my husband was trying to make me feel better. Little did either of us know that in the midst of this sweet gesture, we would find a gem! Located in the middle of nowhere, in a town that had closed signs up past the time they were supposed to be open, is a tiny old ice cream parlor that can whip up a breakfast to impress even the most finicky breakfaster. We arrived around 9am on a weekend morning, and the place was full, which isn't saying much, given that they have maybe 4 or 5 tables, and 6 or 7 bar stools. The folks at the bar were sweet enough to move together so we could sit down, and everyone was being served by one lovely lady who seemed both friendly and at ease with a crowded diner. We ordered tea and coffee which came quickly, and set to the menu which was full or unique fresh veggies, interesting meats and cheeses, and unconventional breakfast selections. My husband ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs with english muffins, and I chose the Fresh Veggie sando, to which i added ham and their specialty soft cheese. the food was so fresh, so flavorful, and so interesting, I easily could have eaten this breakfast every day for at least a week. I loved the festive atmosphere, where customers felt comfortable starting up conversations with each other, including two strangers to our right who struck up some magic, and one ended up paying for the other's breakfast! I was so sad to have found them so late in our stay here, because if i had known about them earlier, I would have been dining here at least every other weekend. Golden eggs light and fluffy that you could TASTE, filled with slightly wilted spinach, big chunks of mushrooms and freshly grated cheddar. A side of home fries, lightly seasoned and so soft I couldn't imagine how they held their shape. Raisin Toast to compliment. This was what I had for breakfast. Best breakfast I remember having in years. Hubby had a Ham and cheddar omelet and all I can say is please check out the pics! This store is a lovely throwback to bygone day's where the locals would gather for their breakfast, local news, newspapers and mail from what I understand. The afternoons would find the little store made over into a soda fountain and still serves such ice cream delicacies as you'd expect to find and a few odd flavors such as 'mud' and 'swamp'. Summary: Over priced / poor service. I sat at the counter and was served cold coffee. When I pointed this out, the server looked as if I was putting her out. She put a new pot on but never came back with a new cup. When my food came, I asked the plate runner for the coffee, which she did get me and the coffee did taste good. I had ordered 2 poached with vegetables. My plate had two poached eggs (luke warm) on less that 1/4 cup of vegetables, and toast. There was less than a pound of food on the plate. After I was severed the first cup of coffee no one came back to for refills. When I paid, I was not shown an itimized bill, she just ran the card. So I am wondering if I was charge for something extra. So for less than a pound of food, 1 cup of coffee and and a 15% tip my bill was just over $27. The people in line next to me had 2 eggs Benedict and coffee, there bill came to $54. Don't be fooled by the "Hipster" shine on this place. It's over priced and there are better diner values near by. read more

It's a small hole in the wall place which is exactly what you would expect in a sleepy sea side town. Everyone had a good food, good sized portions no negatives to really speak of. We went on a busy, summer Saturday morning. We were greeted nicely and only had a short wait. The atmosphere is everything one would expect from a historic diner and you can pass the time easily by gazing across all their artifacts. The food was ok. We both got variations of the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached too long so you didn't get any runny yolk one would expect. The pesto and hollandaise sauce were both really tasty. The homefries are just soft red potatoes; I only had a sliver of onion. Homefries should be crispy! At least some texture or flavor would have been something. We had ordered a side order of 2 pieces of french toast but it came out as 3 and kind of strange looking. It was very blond and tasteless. Then we we receive the bill, the waitress informs us french toast only comes out in a whole order and charged us $13 for Italian french toast. The menu says otherwise and even if that were the case, it seems like something we should have been informed of while ordering. She was pretty lackadaisical and I think if we had one of the more chipper, competent waitresses, our visit would have been better. We may try to return for lunch on a slower day and hopefully we get better service. read more

I was on my daily bike ride today, and I decided to venture down to Mystic to partake in a trio of local favorites, B. F. Clyde's Cider Mill, Sift Bakeshop & Abbott's Lobster in the Rough. After leaving Clyde's, my next stop was Abbott's, but it turned out that it was closed. On my way through Noank village, I noticed this little cafe and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you Carson's is a "Diamond in the Rough!" Retro atmosphere hearkening back to a time before cell phones, fitbits & smart watches. I knew I was walking into my dream cafe when I noticed a sign behind the counter which stated, "There's no Wifi, pretend it's 1907, talk to somebody." They serve breakfast all day, but I decided to try out one of the many interesting choices on the lunch menu. My eyes fixated on the Grilled cheese with Lobster & Avocado. Two slices of Portuguese Sweet Bread, grilled with Provolone & Cheddar cheese. The latter was a substitution I made, replacing the American cheese stated on the menu. Sorry, but American cheese and Lobster, that's like putting ketchup on Chateaubriand. Lobster claw meat and slices of Avocado rounded out this delicious sandwich. Service was quick and friendly, and I just loved the ambience of the place. Now I need to take my wife here, she'll absolutely love it! Oh, and I never made it to Sift. I rode by it twice and was too full to stop in on the way back...that NEVER happens! That's how much I liked Carson's. read more

My wife, our friends and I wanted to give Carson's Store a try! We didn't get greeted immediately and stood for about 5 mins as no one instructed us to grab our own seats. My wife asked and they said we could sit anywhere. We did so and sat there for another 15 minutes. My friend went up to the counter to let them know that we were waiting and the young girl at the counter said they would be with us shortly. Another 10 minutes goes by and another family (same amount of people) we immediately greeted and sat. Their table was wiped and they were handed menus. Our table wasn't wiped and we received no menus and had to look it up on our phones. We ended up leaving as they took other orders for ice cream and despite being talked to twice they still didn't come over to even greet us. Not trying to play that card but my friends are both islanders and it didn't seem like they were welcomed there. I do not recommend if you're a person of color as it really did give off a '1907' vibe. Didn't get to eat the food which is disappointing as we were excited to try. read more
