    New updated menu Jan 2024

Djs breakfast is very good, tasty fluffy pancakes, setting is fine especially in the front dining room overlooking a small square near Connecticut College Two ladies do their best to keep up with customers although sometimes do get a bit behind They recently upgraded their menu and prices have increased significant but are now much more in line with similar breakfast/lunch restaurants in the area but still a fairly good value

Went here for the first time today and loved it. They were pretty busy but we were seated promptly. Our server was a woman named Tina who was super friendly and funny. Pancakes are massive and so yummy.

So these guys opened up across the street in a new building. Me and my boyfriend wanted to try it out, being locals, we've eaten at every diner around. So I walk inside, ask for a table for 2 while my boyfriend is outside finishing his cigarette. The waitress is grabbing menus, and I tell her I'm going to use the bathroom real quick. This lady in the kitchen yells at me that "THE BATHROOM IS FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY" I replied with, "I am a customer, I just got a table for 2...." Disrespectfully, she yells again even louder, "you haven't purchased anything you're not a customer yet." That was the most disrespectful, unprofessional thing I've ever seen and I've been in the restaurant business my entire life. Whoever the owner is should know what happened and how they r treating potential customers. And btw. We both were going to get steak and eggs. So you just lost like 40$

Wow wow wow, what a hidden gem. This is the best breakfast spot by a far. Went for breakfast this morning as a party of 7, staff pulled two tables together and sat us right away. The waitress was great, super friendly and a great sense of humor. The pancakes are literally the size of the plate and taste great. Great prices, great staff, and family owned and operated! Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area.

If anyone knows about me and my food preferences, they'll know I don't usually like breakfast. That means we go to every breakfast place near us to find a place we both can find something we love. On one of these outings, we found the Campus kitchen, and have given them three tries...each worse than the one previous. Our first trip, my husband went big and ordered the Wide Load, a comically named, but accurate description for a 4 egg, 4 sausage, 4 strip of bacon, and 4 slice of cheese sando on a large sourdough hoagie. It's a heart attack of a sandwitch, but albeit pretty delicious. I tried the pork chop which was dry and boring with grits, which were just plain boring. On our second trip, I opted for the pancakes which were obscenely large, and alternately dry and goopy. Today was probably our last visit, where we both tried the wide load again, and it was greasy, salty, and borderline oppressive. Service is rough, with what I think is a family running it. Nobody talks to anyone else, so things get miscommunicated if communicated at all. We asked for a glass of water and they brought us boxes for food we didn't even have, and I asked for only one egg, and instead they took away my cheese (that I actually really wanted). Prices are mid to high for the low quality and low attentiveness of service. Location is convenient, but the restaurant is mucky, dingy, and in disrepair, with some of the most disgusting bathrooms I've seen in awhile. Wait is long for such a relatively small place, and it's never packed, so I don't know really what the big deal is. They do offer military discounts, but I don't see that as a factor really in influencing me to ever come back. This is a great place if you want to order one huge pancake and feed your 20 kids, or you're a hungover college student trying to get back into your day, otherwise this place is a mess.

This was my first time to this breakfast diner. It's very close to Connecticut College which was really convenient for my friend and I because we were at the Arboretum. Parking it abnormal, there's an "in" on one side of the building, and an "out" on the other and parking in the back. Inside is roomy with plenty of space in between the tables and chair room so you're not on top of someone next to or behind you which is VERY nice. The staff is very friendly and decorates the meals beautifully. For the food, my friend got a short stack of the chocolate chip pancakes and the home fries. I got a plain waffle with blueberries and whipped cream and a side of hash browns. DISCLAIMER: The pancakes are almost the size of the plates, and a short stack is two of them. She could only eat half of one, but took the rest to go. Everything that I had was delicious, and I would definitely go back if I ever was in the area again!

Holy breakfast! Short stack pancakes, strawberry waffle (WITH ICE CREAM!!),and a ham and cheese omelet.

This was a great find! It was a cute atmosphere with rustic decor, the portion sizes are huge, and staff was wonderful. It was also reasonably priced which is always a bonus. The only down side is it is relatively small. They also did not have the correct address on the previous listing so we got lost. The strawberry waffle was INCREDIBLE and a nice treat. If we are ever in the area I would go here again.

I don't recommend with people who are trying to get a quick bite since food and service can take a bit. There is parking right in front of the restaurant and the public parking lot behind the restaurant as well that is a short walking distance to the restaurant. I've come in 3 times to this location so far but the wait staff and times for food and drinks are pretty consistent. The wait staff can get distracted and aren't very observant. We sometimes have to ask multiple servers for the same thing since they'll get distracted and forgot what we asked them. For example, we asked for utensils from our waitress, she was stopped by a patron and forgot we asked for utensils. She proceeded to wait on tables after speaking to the patron. My husband tried to get the attention of the 2 staff members in front of us but neither heard him so I had to get up to get someone's attention to be able to eat our appetizer. We had to ask 2 people for boxes since we asked a wait staff for boxes, she walked pass them and proceeded to bus tables. The food and drinks are great though. We got there on a Saturday late morning at 1049am. The place was packed so completely understandable and the hostess advised it'd be 10 to 15 minutes before a server would even wait on us, which was pretty accurate. We didn't leave until 12:21pm between time to get our food, drinks, boxes, and pay the check. I've had the shrimp and grits, water street avocado toast, the birdie trio, friend green tomatoes, and the drunken master on a skillet. The food is delicious overall. The fried green tomatoes were a tad on the salty side but with the chutney they made it was pretty balanced. The birdie trio was delicious too and the opportunity to try all 3 on one dish is great! Between savory, sweet, and spicy. Perfectly crispy chicken and waffles. The shrimp and grits were on point too. Definitely a heavy meal so make sure you have or make space for it. The drunken master was good with tater tots. One thing I wish I had with it was some sour cream but overall it was good. I love that they have a flight option for coffee. It's not on the drinks menu so you'll have to ask for it. I wish that they still had passion fruit juice but they also have a mimosas flight option. I love the place, food, drinks, and atmosphere. I know they put on the menus that it can take at least 45 minutes for food but the print warning on the menu should be made on a sign posted in the front or at the host podium. Every guest seated should automatically be given a menu and utensils to make things easier. These are just a few tips that'll help ease things for the wait staff/patrons.

The parking lot is 'smallish' on the right side of the building and flows right to left in one direction, so be sure to look for the 'enter' sign. There are three steps up into the diner so be aware of that if you have difficulty using steps. Also, the restroom is tiny: like so small the sink is about a foot long by half as much wide, small. We stop in here on our trips out to Groton. Last visit we stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch. I ordered a coffee and it came in a nice big mug and is a mellow blend with a smooth finish. There are photo descriptions on the table of what your eggs will look like based on how you order it, so no surprises. What a great idea. The table holds napkins, hot sauces, salt & pepper, jellies, creamer and sugars. The staff are pleasant. Some are more chatty than others. There are definitely some regulars here each time we visit. The menu has lots of breakfast options but there are no substitutions so you may need to order al a carte or get a different 'meal' option and add-on an item. Just a heads up. They have plenty of toast options including English muffins. The lunch menu is a variety of sandwiches and burgers. Fries are tasty. Lettuce and tomato on your sandwiches are fresh. I can't think of a single disappointment we've had here. If you are in the area and enjoy a nice diner experience, stop in to Norm's.

We do like those, so that's what we got. Sandwiches here come with a bag a chips, which I love, because I usually end up taking them with me and look forward to snacking on them later. :) The restaurant is manned by the cook and one waitress. Both are very personable. The tables are set and waiting for guests. Everything is clean and tidy. The table holds your salt, pepper, hot sauce, ketchup, sugar and jelly. I ordered a coffee with cream and she brought cream to the table with the coffee; which is good by the way. We also got waters. The Rueben is Very good here. Thin slices of very lean meat, good flavor profile with the vinegar in the sauerkraut and the creamy dressing. The bread held together perfectly and was grilled without all the grease. Both of which make it much easier to eat the sandwich and enjoy all the flavors and textures. Free on street parking was easy to find.
