What a marvelous little breakfast place. Everything is so cozy and well-put together. Friendly staff. Food is terrific and portioned very nicely. The pancakes were beyond expectation, covering the whole plate served up piping hot and smothered in butter, without doubt some of the best pancakes I've ever had. The Applewood Smoked bacon, eggs and hash browns left us as full and happy as kids on Christmas morning. Tina made sure our coffee never reached the bottom of the cup. I stopped into this quaint seemingly family run business while visiting my daughter at school. It was a rainy day and the restaurant was pretty busy for a rainy day. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly waitress who's was nice and charming and made us feel very welcomed. My daughter had the fruity French toast with a side of corned beef hash. My son had the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon and I had the eggs Benedict with a side of bacon. It did take a beat for our food to arrive, but it was totally worth the wait. Huge portions of delicious food and very reasonably priced. I tried all three breakfasts as my kids weren't able to finish theirs, and my son who ordered the short stack (hub cap sized pancakes) is a 6'5" volleyball player. So these guys opened up across the street in a new building. Me and my boyfriend wanted to try it out, being locals, we've eaten at every diner around. So I walk inside, ask for a table for 2 while my boyfriend is outside finishing his cigarette. The waitress is grabbing menus, and I tell her I'm going to use the bathroom real quick. This lady in the kitchen yells at me that "THE BATHROOM IS FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY" I replied with, "I am a customer, I just got a table for 2...." Disrespectfully, she yells again even louder, "you haven't purchased anything you're not a customer yet." That was the most disrespectful, unprofessional thing I've ever seen and I've been in the restaurant business my entire life. If anyone knows about me and my food preferences, they'll know I don't usually like breakfast. That means we go to every breakfast place near us to find a place we both can find something we love. On one of these outings, we found the Campus kitchen, and have given them three tries...each worse than the one previous. Our first trip, my husband went big and ordered the Wide Load, a comically named, but accurate description for a 4 egg, 4 sausage, 4 strip of bacon, and 4 slice of cheese sando on a large sourdough hoagie. It's a heart attack of a sandwitch, but albeit pretty delicious. I tried the pork chop which was dry and boring with grits, which were just plain boring. On our second trip, I opted for the pancakes which were obscenely large, and alternately dry and goopy. Today was probably our last visit, where we both tried the wide load again, and it was greasy, salty, and borderline oppressive. Service is rough, with what I think is a family running it. Nobody talks to anyone else, so things get miscommunicated if communicated at all. We asked for a glass of water and they brought us boxes for food we didn't even have, and I asked for only one egg, and instead they took away my cheese (that I actually really wanted). Prices are mid to high for the low quality and low attentiveness of service. Location is convenient, but the restaurant is mucky, dingy, and in disrepair, with some of the most disgusting bathrooms I've seen in awhile. Wait is long for such a relatively small place, and it's never packed, so I don't know really what the big deal is. They do offer military discounts, but I don't see that as a factor really in influencing me to ever come back. This is a great place if you want to order one huge pancake and feed your 20 kids, or you're a hungover college student trying to get back into your day, otherwise this place is a mess. read more

This was my first time to this breakfast diner. It's very close to Connecticut College which was really convenient for my friend and I because we were at the Arboretum. Parking it abnormal, there's an "in" on one side of the building, and an "out" on the other and parking in the back. Inside is roomy with plenty of space in between the tables and chair room so you're not on top of someone next to or behind you which is VERY nice. The staff is very friendly and decorates the meals beautifully. For the food, my friend got a short stack of the chocolate chip pancakes and the home fries. I got a plain waffle with blueberries and whipped cream and a side of hash browns. DISCLAIMER: The pancakes are almost the size of the plates, and a short stack is two of them. She could only eat half of one, but took the rest to go. Everything that I had was delicious, and I would definitely go back if I ever was in the area again! read more

This place is awesome! A tiny little hole-in-the-wall with delicious food, generous helpings and friendly servers. Clean and neatly decorated. We stopped here on the way home one Saturday morning in August and had a delicious breakfast! We had two 17 yo boys with large appetites and even they could not finish all the food they received. Wish we lived nearby as we would be eating here a lot more often, but this will definitely be a stop on our way home going forward! read more

This was a great find! It was a cute atmosphere with rustic decor, the portion sizes are huge, and staff was wonderful. It was also reasonably priced which is always a bonus. The only down side is it is relatively small. They also did not have the correct address on the previous listing so we got lost. The strawberry waffle was INCREDIBLE and a nice treat. This might actually be the greatest breakfast place I have ever eaten at. The food is fresh and tastes homemade. You can tell this is a family owned place and has a rich warm feeling. The wait staff are friendly and service is fast. The prices oh the prices. You can't beat these prices. The portions are huge and everything is delicious. I love the fact that they only are open from 6am until 12noon. The space is small but you really don't notice it because of how big the service and portions are. I can't wait to return. With some of the biggest pancakes you've ever seen, DJ's is one of the best breakfast places in New London. Everything is well prepared and can satisfy any hunger. The pancakes are amazing, just be sure to prepare yourself for how big they are! DJ's is always busy, so be prepared for a 25-30 minute wait on the weekends. DJ's campus kitchen is a nice, fairly priced breakfast place close to both the Coast Guard Academy and Conn College. The menu gives a decent array of both breakfast and lunch options. I got chocolate chip pancakes (not on the menu, but they have them!), hashbrowns and an egg. The chocolate chip pancakes were delicious! Not only were they chock full of chocolate chips, but they had some sprinkled on top as well. The pancakes are huuugee so come hungry! The hashbrowns were also very good- but the home fries were missing something. Overall, a great little restaurant, inexpensive, close by and friendly. Not to mention delicious! read more

So, I just have to put this one out there because I am BEYOND DISGUSTED; and I don't even know the words to use quite honestly; because this place is absolutely PATHETIC the way we just got treated within the first 30 seconds OF BEING SEATED!!!! DJ's campus kitchen, on 405 Williams street in New London Connecticut... so we come in and we sit down the first thing Jose Colon does is go to charge his phone. He then proceeds to get screamed at from behind him from WHOEVER was at the counter, "Excuse me Sir! There's NO charging ANYTHING here!" So we said,"okay no problem we didn't know". SO anyway, the waitress comes over and she asked us, "so what you want to drink?" and he's deciding, taking his time so I told her that I wanted ice water. Shes like "ice water, okay and you?" he still didn't even get a minute to look so she's like "coffee, something...?" and he said "yeah I'll just have a coffee." and she goes okay and she snatches the menus out of our hands, which we weren't even done LOOKING at the menus cuz we STILL had to order breakfast. So she walks away then we're sitting there and I'm like, "yo, we are getting treated like shit and I don't even know why. I think we should go somewhere else. Now I do know why... it's because he's on a hefty dose of methadone daily, AND along with his anxiety meds mixed with it which he just got back so his body's readjusting, and in the morning (every single morning after he takes his meds it takes a few hours for him to even out. But other than that he looks real sleepy but that's all it is.) He gets drug tested ALL the time, if he was using everybody would know that is set up for him med-wise, Dr wise, methadone clinic wise, just everybody in general; they would ALL know. And NONE of them have ever seen anything. He's always fine. Anyways, so he says, "excuse me we're going to cancel that coffee and we're just going to go somewhere ELSE. And she says, "oh okay, GOOD and did you replace that outlet cover from when you were charging your phone?" and I looked at her and said, "NO outlet cover was ever taken off ma'am, it's right there." She said, "oh GOOD!". I'm like, "I've NEVER been treated like this in my LIFE!" she's like "yeah..." and she just looked at me I'm like "yeah well you have a nice day." and she said "oh don't YOU worry I MOST certainly WILL NOW!! As we walk out she's just standing there watching us the whole way to the door way and stood still there with her hands on her hips watched out every single move until we finally made it out the door . Not to mention, she was loud as all hell and the whole restaurant heard it. Now that is part of the stigma recovering drug addicts get and it's not fair. She has no idea who we are, how hard it is for us or how long it is that we've been fighting to even accomplish the things that we have so far and still have all of these goals ahead of us that we're still trying to achieve. BUT people like her just make us want to do it even BETTER so I can go back there one day, make sure I get HER as a waitress and leave her a PENNY tip write her a LOVELY little note on the bill and say, "remember me bitch? I'm the one that you treated like a piece of shit JUNKIE, especially considering it wasn't even me you had our should've diverted your attention to. But hey, it's all good." read more

I'm a die hard, picky foodie. I finally got here after reading the reviews. Really enjoyed it! We had a very nice breakfast. The restaurant was very busy so we seated ourselves and had to wait a few minutes for a server and menus. Waiting on menus is usually my deal breaker but not here. The server made SURE she made eye contact with me, welcomed us and said she'd be right over. The service was good and the food was even better. Priced right. Parking in the back was easy.
