Very solid seafood stop in CT. One of the better ones we had - this is probably our second time here and quality has not dropped. Lobster roll is filled with lobster and not skimpy. Clam chowder thick with plentiful of potatoes and clams. Oysters were small but so fresh and had a sweet aftertaste. The only thing I didn't love is the crab cakes which could be better IMO. I also love the outdoor seating - you have a choice in the shades under the tent or near the waters. Either choices give off a chill calming vibe.

Giving it three stars for the vibes but the food is 2. They call their lobster roll and roll and it comes on a hamburger bun I could buy at a grocery store. It's not even butter which I do fear is a main component of a lobster roll. Nice outdoor seating though with picnic tables right on the water. Also have lots of other stuff on the menu. Corn also can not shucked which was kinda weird

I came here because the location is great, right on the water. Ordering process was simple and easy. Prices were average. There isn't many options of non-seafood items. (For those that don't eat seafood like me). I did the short rib tacos for 14.00. They were amazing but only came with two. Corn was bland and not really good. Kids pasta was bland. Lobster roll was great, mussels were ok. Overall the place is ok, location is nice food is just ok.

Abbotts is the iconic lobster shack the Mystic River area. Sitting at the mouth of the river in historic Noank, CT., Abbotts has served what most be millions of these crustaceans to people visiting Mystic. Everyday fresh lobster is from pots in Fishers Island and Long Island Sound find their way to Abbott's dock. Make sure you try a few!

We drove out of the way from Massachusetts and were woefully disappointed. The famous lobster roll is closer to a lobster slider, very different than what is advertised as "The best of Connecticut". While disappointed with the size, the lobster was tender but was not served hot- closer to room temp. The kids' pasta was served with moldy parmesan, the 'street corn' was just roasted corn topped with chipotle mayo (that's it, no cotija cheese, no cilantro, just mayo) and the salad had 1 piece of green lettuce on top to disguise the browned pieces of white iceberg lettuce underneath. Spending over $150 and leaving hungry was quite a let down.

I've been going to Abbott's since I was a kid every time my family visited Mystic. It is the quintessential New England seafood shack. Even after all these years, Abbott's is still one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to. Obviously, the New England Lobster Feast is a must. The lobster is cooked perfectly as well as the steamers. The chowder is light and a great start to the meal. Don't pass over the tuna salad roll! Still my favorite tuna salad. It is magic. The great view and amazing food is a perfect stop when in Mystic.

What an amazing Sunday Funday! After going on a sailboat tour with Sound Sails, we were lucky enough to be walking distance from the parking lot to stop at Abbotts for their famous lobster rolls. A group of 6 of us were celebrating a friend's birthday and this was the perfect outing to enjoy the beautiful weather, yummy food, and good times together outside. There were tents for shade and tables out by the water with the lovely view of all the boats pulling in and out of the bay. The menu is big and easy to read right when you walk up to the lobster shack house. We had no wait and went right up to the counter to order our food. The food came out fairly quick too which was a plus! The lobster was fresh and delicious! We ate, drank and enjoyed the gorgeous day! There was no rush and they had plenty of seating so it made for a great relaxing day! I saw they had a separate area to order dessert but didn't get to try it, so I'm excited to head back soon and also try their sister restaurant, Costello's clam shack right next door!

Still our favorite after all these years. I have been craving their New England Clam Chowder for several years and have tried other substitutes but no one else could match. Maybe its the sitting waterside on the weather worn pier where their boat delivers daily, or the friendliness that comes from a well loved and established local family business, but something brings it all home to me and makes me love this place. Of course the clam chowder is great but so is my other favorite, the hot lobster roll. Add a side of crab cakes or oysters, a sunny spring day and a light breeze; ahhh what could be better!?! They've streamlined service over the years and I'm sure from necessity added seating. On our particular visit the food came quicker than expected and was piping hot.

Awesome venue, so cool seeing all the history if the place. And they have a very fun menu. Service was super nice, but a hair slow. The lobster roll i got was very average. Nice and buttery. But for 30 bucks i would hope for more then gritty lobster and a store bought hamburger bun. It's worth a one time visit for the history. But save yourself a little dough and just get the bisque.

Stopped here for the first time today to try the lobster roll, and unfortunately, I was disappointed. The "world-famous lobster roll" was served on what looked like a small sesame burger bun, which wasn't what I expected. While it was generously filled with lobster, it lacked flavor overall. Considering how expensive lobster rolls are, I expected a much better experience. We were also told because we ordered take out we could not sit anywhere on the property. Sadly, we won't be coming back.

11 out of 10 for atmosphere! Adorable lobster shack right in the water! There is plenty of seating and sun/shade options. The bathrooms are cute and so is the little separate dessert shack! Service was friendly and food came out very quickly. The hot and cold lobster rolls are very tasty and their New England clam chowder is great! Lobster rolls come with a bag of chips and a side of coleslaw (also good). The garlicky artichoke was a bust, but I guess it's not that kind of place. Will return.

The lobster, the scenery, the service, it's a vibe! This is my 3rd time returning & it's a must for every year, my opinion.

Frank C.

No doubt this is one of the best lobster roll I had, albeit a bit small. So I chip in another clam chowder to make it a full meal. Love the ambiance, while I can look at the shore while having my roll - a perfect summer day.

We ordered the spinach strawberry salad, fried calamari and coconut curry mussels. We were fine with everything coming out together and it did! We had to dig into the calamari first and it was amazing! The breaded is incredibly light and crispy at the same time. A very tender batter. Fresh calamari and sweet and hot peppers was delightful with a hint of heat. House made tomato sauce for dipping was tangy and sweet. The mussels were steaming hot for a while too. The coconut and curry were light, the mussels perfectly cooked and cleaned. Yes, it matters! We ended up taking the salad back to our room and it was tasty as well. Large slices of fresh strawberries, sliced roasted almonds, feta cheese and a dressing that wasn't too heavy, tangy or tart. It was perfect. Our servers looked after us and were very kind too. They told us not to rush even though it was close to closing time. If only we lived closer because we would be here regularly. The food is top notch!!

They have the seafood-laden, high-quality menu, and the scratch kitchen is executing everything at a very high level. We shared the bangin' mussels (a lager-based broth instead of white wine, with excellent flavor and tender, fresh bivalves), some raw oysters to start (fresh enough they didn't need a thing), a bowl of the best clam chowder I can remember having, a pretty affordable (comparatively so at $32) and delicious lobster roll, and some brussels sprouts for our health. Everything was well done, including the fresh chicken fingers for my kid that only eats chicken fingers and fries, along with a homemade honey mustard that hit the spot for me. The only thing I might wish they had is outdoor seating with a view of the water, but it was raining when we were there anyway so we didn't miss it this time around.

I sometimes say if a place has a fantastic location, it doesn't have to have fantastic food…read more However, when you charge nice restaurant prices, a fantastic location will not save you from myriad service and food quality issues. Haring's has a terrific, classic New England location in Noank right along the Mystic Harbor. It's a touch north of Abbot's, and is where Ford's used to be. Our family was on a boat and looking to dock for lunch. The Captain's first choice for lunch did not have dock parking available, and I recommended Harings based on social media posts. The Harings employee who helped us dock was very nice, helpful and hard working. He was probably the high point of our experience. We were told that since he had a boat, we would have to eat on our boat and they would come to the boat and take our order when it was our turn. From the point we were told that, here was our experience. Nobody came to take our order for about 45 minutes. I went to the desk and they apologized and sent someone to take our order. She was friendly and helpful. We were told it would take about 30 minutes to get our food. It took longer. A boat that docked about 30 minutes after us had their order taken within about 15 minutes, and they received their food 10 minutes before I had to complain that we still hadn't received any of our food. The person I spoke with was friendly and our food arrived soon after I said something. The food, which was not inexpensive, was not spectacular. Certain items were not delivered. My son said his fries were not warm and were undercooked, and his $18 chicken sandwich was much smaller than cheaper sandwiches he normally orders. The people who ordered hot lobster rolls said they were OK. At this point, so much time had passed, that we did not have time for them to correct these issues. I ordered the Bisquets and Gravy, which was a 1/2 pound of lobster, lobster bisque and cheddar biscuits. The bisque was average. It could have been better seasoned. There was a lot of lobster, but at least some bites were overcooked. The lobster wasn't well seasoned either. The highlight of my food was the oysters, which was a substitute for the scallop crudo they had run out of after I ordered. I have the sense that the people who helped us, wanted to provide good service. It just seemed like the structure of the service was disorganized, and you never knew if they had forgotten you or that was just the normal lag. I ultimately concluded it was mostly that they had forgotten about us. The location is fantastic. Perhaps the food is better when the business is less steady. I did not see enough in this visit to return. This was probably my least favorite New England water side food experience in years. Especially at this price point. 2.25 Stars

We had the request in the notes of our reservation, so it's a shame they didn't have it set up for us when we walked in or at least upon sitting down. There's no kids menu, and the regular menu is very limited if you have a child with a food allergy. My son has an egg allergy, and there were barely any options for him. There wasn't even a simple chicken option on the menu. We ultimately settled on a grilled cheese because it was essentially the only thing that worked, and no one offered to modify something or suggest another option that could accommodate him. The service overall wasn't particularly attentive, which made the limited options even more frustrating. Unfortunately, the food itself also didn't live up to the hype for us. I understand not every restaurant caters specifically to families, but a little more attentiveness and willingness to accommodate a child with a food allergy would have gone a long way. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for families with young kids or dietary restrictions.

Naturally, our post-dinner walk turned into a search for something sweet, and that's when we stumbled upon Sift Bake Shop. Oh, hello there! We opened the door and immediately knew we'd found our dessert destination. The bakery was bright, welcoming and absolutely adorable, with display cases FULL of beautiful baked goods. I started smiling from ear to ear before we'd even gotten close enough to properly inspect everything. And then I saw what was inside those cases. Cookies. Cakes. Pastries. So many beautiful little creations practically begging me to take them home. Suddenly, we had a problem. I wanted everything. After several minutes of me staring lovingly at the desserts and attempting to make what felt like an impossible decision, Adventure Buddy gently reminded me that we were not, in fact, purchasing the entire bakery. RUDE. But admittedly, he had a point. I finally settled on the Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookie ($4.50), featuring two peanut butter cookies with peanut butter frosting sandwiched between them. Adventure Buddy selected the Opera Cake ($9.45), made with espresso-soaked almond sponge cake, chocolate ganache, coffee and hazelnut mousse. We ordered everything to go so we could take our treasures back to the hotel and enjoy a proper sweet-tooth nightcap. And THAT was an excellent decision. First up, my peanut butter sandwich cookie. As someone whose personality is approximately 63.8% peanut butter, I consider myself qualified to evaluate this particular dessert. IT. WAS. FANTASTIC. The cookies were wonderfully soft and chewy, with what seemed like a little oat texture mixed in. The peanut butter frosting was smooth, creamy, rich and perfectly peanut buttery. Everything worked beautifully together, and I was one very happy peanut butter enthusiast. Then I tried Adventure Buddy's Opera Cake. WOWZA! The layers of different textures were incredible! The espresso-soaked almond cake, creamy mousse and rich chocolate ganache came together beautifully. And that chocolate ganache?! To die for! I'm not usually someone who gravitates toward coffee-flavored desserts, but this was absolutely worth stealing a few bites of! What made this discovery even better was learning that Sift is a family-owned, French-focused bakery operated by Pastry Chef Adam Young, with everything made from scratch in-house. They offer everything from artisan breads and breakfast pastries to sweet and savory treats, so clearly we only scratched the surface of what they're creating. For about $14, Adventure Buddy and I enjoyed two fantastic desserts and turned an ordinary evening at our hotel into a delicious little date-night finale. We stumbled upon Sift completely by accident, and I'm SO glad we did! We'll absolutely be back the next time we're adventuring in Mystic because there were approximately 47 other things in those cases that I still need to try.
