NY Times says this is one of the 50 best restaurants in the US Nah. Maybe one of the 50 best restaurants on Noank. Clam fritters were fried dough, but I failed to find one clam in the whole serving of 5 fritters. Really??? Rest of the meal was just so-so, and came out just a few minutes after the clamless clam fritters, so I had to sacrifice focusing on the hot appetizer to start on the hot entree, which is not good service. It was 3 pm on a gorgeous September day, not busy so the staff could pace meals better. I wasn't expecting Michelin stars, but this definitely shouldn't have made the NY Times list.

We ordered the quahog stuffie and hush puppies for apps. Both delicious. The hush puppies were light, not dense and the butter that came with it was amazing. For mains we ordered the fish n chips and the fried haddock sandwich. Again, both delicious and very fresh. Great view of the water and we loved watching the boats go by. Will definitely be back.

Was Ford's Lobster. Now Harings Marine. 90 minute wait! Hostess typed in the wrong phone number for us so we waited. Be sure to double check! I ordered the lobster roll. It was rather plain so we asked for butter! I think they forgot to put anything in it as it was tasty once we added the butter. I asked for Cole slaw and got potato salad but they brought a replacement with no hesitation. My table for a lobster. I would not recommend that route. They don't really clean it nor ask if they clean it. Better off going with a lobster roll! Upcharge to the .50 lb! BYOB! BYOW! QR code on your table and the local beer place delivers to you!! Lobster bisque is just ok.

Oysters - Mystic. They decorated the table with pumpkins.

I ate at Haring's 4pm on 10/18/24. So good! It was 65 degrees and sunny. I sat outside staring at the water, with my shades on. They played a chill music playlist that matched the vibe perfectly. Any you can call them on channel 71 you are arriving via boat. Stay Nautical! It's BYOB but they give you a QR code to order beer from Universal Package Store next door. They run to get your drinks too. I ate oysters from Mystic (happy hour- phenomenal), the Brussels sprouts (ok), and lobster bisque (very good). I'm traveling but I hope to be come back someday. Joe

Beautiful setting to dock your boat!

The food is exceptional! The chef is so sensitive to the complexity of sauces and soups. Butternut squash with maple syrup is to die for!

Ok... so I reluctantly gave Haring's another try. Didn't order seafood (which kind of seemed weird) but my wife and I split the 1/2 bourbon chicken. It came with red potatoes (whole , not smashed) with no butter or seasoning, just boiled, and again.. swing and a miss.. the only cool part of the experience was you can order wine/beer etc from the local liquor store and they deliver it since its a BYOB set up. I really wanted this place to work since I can sail into the dock, step off with guests and have a meal. I don't know what is going on there, the wait staff is pleasant, the dock help was helpful, the food just sucks. I don't know how else to say it. Ambience is second to none, I just wish they'd get their act together and serve up some bangin seafood. Probably not going back

Living along Connecticut's shore, we've been on a quest to find the BEST New England Clam Chowder so we visited...HARING's Marine which plis a picturesque "shack" along Noank's rocky shore, just lovely! The staff was cute, inexperienced in professional table setting, however they were engaging and fun! Now to the CLAM CHOWDER; thin, watery soupy with lots of potatoes, decent flavor and TOO expensive for a VERY small "bowl" literally the size of a coffee cup for $10...disappointing and the search goes on!

Dockside dining with great food and beautiful water views.

Fantastic food. Local oysters and lobster rolls! Also excellent local mushrooms if you want to go vegan or just feel like a change. Highly recommend the hush puppies too! Great service and such a pleasant staff and setting. On a summer day, what can be better than a delightful casual dock side spot. Arrive by boat or car - or on foot of course! Restrooms are clean and neat. It's BYOB or you can order from the nearby liquor store which delivers. They say 15" but it was less than 5" for the tables near us. (We took our own). We will be back. It was great fun. https://www.haringsnoank.com/

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.

In the interim I have only had two chowders that I would even put in the same league. Last night we had dinner here, and everything was excellent, the atmosphere was of course as wonderful as always. The only disappointment I had was the quality of the chowder has taken such a drastic turn. It was very onion heavy (my daughter thought maybe leeks) that I couldn't taste clam at all. It was also very thick and gluey. Lastly (and I know this is the luck of the ladle) if I got any actual clams, I didn't notice them. Clearly a lot is going right in that kitchen, but I think the head chef needs to go back to the drawing board on the chowder. For such an icon of a restaurant to be serving that chowder is a true shame.

Half of us couldn't move our seat back without hitting your head on the dormer. The acoustics were horrible as we could hardly hear the person next to you. Six of our party were in the restaurant on time. But four of our party arrived at location on time but were a little late (20 mins) getting in due to virtually no parking available. They eventually had to park at a marina among the boats and walk. During our wait, we were informed that we were only allotted two hours for our reservation by the waitstaff and then the management, rudely I might add. After we finished dinner, we were asked if anyone wanted dessert. Some said yes. The waitress left which we assumed to get dessert menus. However after a rather long delay she returned and informed us that we couldn't have dessert because they had another reservation. At this point, we were only 20 minutes past our ALLOTED time. We left and agreed that was the last time we would ever go the Daniel Packer Inne. When the reservations were made we were not informed we were on a strict time limit. If we were, we would not have chosen DPI as our party was from three states and coffee and dessert would have been nice before the long trip back home.
