3,stars for the food and 4 for atmosphere The food was just ok. Cooked up by teens. Calamari had a thick batter, was overcooked and no dipping sauce which made it dry. The crab cakes were good, full of crab and very little extra filler. Onion strings were just ok. My friend enjoyed the lobster roll, it looked small in a hamburger bun but seemed to be the right amount of lobster. The bun didn't hold up to the sandwich. The atmosphere is fantastic. We enjoyed watching the boats sail by and the cool ocean breeze. So I'm a little torn on this one!

My daughter and I were traveling and craving seafood. Decided to try this place out. We placed our order and went to find a place to sit. It was a very breezy and cool day but we decided to sit up top anyway! What a beautiful view! It was probably about 10 minutes at most before they called our number and we picked up our food. We both had ordered the clam strips and they were really yummy! If I had to complain about anything it would be how fast I had to eat after choosing to sit in the shaded upper level with the wind whipping through and cooling off the food. Lol We both decided we would love to go back again. The girl who took our order was very friendly and helpful. The views were gorgeous and the food delicious!

Nice views and Friendly staff. I enjoyed the lobster roll... not amazing but good and for$24 vs $32 around Mystic it was worth the price paid. Stuffed claims not so great Not to bad for a quick bite.

Fried while belly clams and a bisque

My husband and I were in Mystic for a day in August. We have friends who grew up in Connecticut who told us a traditional dish is fried whole belly clams. This place offered the dish and a beautiful outdoor area to eat. You order at a window and they give you a buzzer. The buzzer lets you know when you should go pick up your food. The place did not sell beer but let us drink our own. The view of the boats at the docks and moorings was fantastic. A great Connecticut memory for us.

Delicious food and beautiful views!! More of a self serve type style place and you seat yourself.

Stopped by for some waterfront views and dining. You order at a window and then pick up at a separate window. Fried clam bellies were fresh and pretty sweet. My favorite dish by far was probably the steamers. Quality and quantity was very good for the price. We got the fish tacos too, which was ok, but wouldn't go out of my way to get again. Seating is first come first served. Orders took a while to come out. Bathrooms are available on the premise but they only have two one toilet bathrooms. Overall, good place to come on a nice summer day and settle down with a heaping pile of steamers.

The only good thing is the view.

We were excited to try this place. We were looking for something nice with a view and good food. Well......we got the nice view and that's about it. We ordered Steamers, the CCC which consisted of fried shrimp and a small piece of fish, corn chowder with shrimp and lobster bisque. My fish and shrimp was pretty good but was just barely warm. The Steamers were very dry and seemed like they were steamed in the morning and then again in the afternoon. Both soups were pretty tasty but were colder then the outside temperature. All things considered I would not even give them a second try. Never again.

I don't even know where to begin. I'm so disappointed with first visit to this place. I went to this restaurant to get something for my sister. I got there at 6:30am because my cuz. I and my girlfriend ate at Abbott's everything was delicious. I put my order in at Costello's at 6:30pm. I received my order at 8:30pm.. I have never in my life waited to eat food that I ordered from a damn window. If I knew I wouldve been waiting that long, I would've never went there. The customer service of each employee I came across was great but that doesn't excuse their God awful service. there were several people coming into waiting area asking about there food. It was so bad that one male customer stated it's been 45 minutes his wife was in line and we have been waiting another 30 min,...SMDH!! This man was after me and when you order your food I stated to her my order was to go. So I didn't have a # she took my name. There order system sucks, there is no organization. I'm sure my facial expression said a lot. At this point I couldn't take it anymore, I was like what's going on here I've been waiting for fried food almost 2 hours. I stated to everyone that I will be requesting an refund. Because the female and her family requested a refund as she hadnt received all her food. I'm going to close by saying if your in Mystic CT area, I suggest you check out Abbott's the food was amazing.

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.

We were greeted right away by the friendliest host and server and seated quickly. Started with 2 cups of lobster bisque which was delicious and topped with a whole lobster claw (totally worth the $10 unlike what some other reviews mentioned - it was great) and some hush puppies which were perfectly fried and served with a delicious lemon herb butter. Fried haddock sandwich and eggs Benedict were great choices for lunch, and our son got the fried haddock nuggets. Fish was salted just right and the crisp coating stayed together which is a must for me with fried fish. Really good cup of coffee too. Must not miss this place, we'd come back for sure!

Haring's has a terrific, classic New England location in Noank right along the Mystic Harbor. It's a touch north of Abbot's, and is where Ford's used to be. Our family was on a boat and looking to dock for lunch. The Captain's first choice for lunch did not have dock parking available, and I recommended Harings based on social media posts. The Harings employee who helped us dock was very nice, helpful and hard working. He was probably the high point of our experience. We were told that since he had a boat, we would have to eat on our boat and they would come to the boat and take our order when it was our turn. From the point we were told that, here was our experience. Nobody came to take our order for about 45 minutes. I went to the desk and they apologized and sent someone to take our order. She was friendly and helpful. We were told it would take about 30 minutes to get our food. It took longer. A boat that docked about 30 minutes after us had their order taken within about 15 minutes, and they received their food 10 minutes before I had to complain that we still hadn't received any of our food. The person I spoke with was friendly and our food arrived soon after I said something. The food, which was not inexpensive, was not spectacular. Certain items were not delivered. My son said his fries were not warm and were undercooked, and his $18 chicken sandwich was much smaller than cheaper sandwiches he normally orders. The people who ordered hot lobster rolls said they were OK. At this point, so much time had passed, that we did not have time for them to correct these issues. I ordered the Bisquets and Gravy, which was a 1/2 pound of lobster, lobster bisque and cheddar biscuits. The bisque was average. It could have been better seasoned. There was a lot of lobster, but at least some bites were overcooked. The lobster wasn't well seasoned either. The highlight of my food was the oysters, which was a substitute for the scallop crudo they had run out of after I ordered. I have the sense that the people who helped us, wanted to provide good service. It just seemed like the structure of the service was disorganized, and you never knew if they had forgotten you or that was just the normal lag. I ultimately concluded it was mostly that they had forgotten about us. The location is fantastic. Perhaps the food is better when the business is less steady. I did not see enough in this visit to return. This was probably my least favorite New England water side food experience in years. Especially at this price point. 2.25 Stars

The building itself is gorgeous with thick beams and great finishes. It's a beautiful place even if it is a little tight. With that said, we had a party of 10 and had reservations in advance. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.
