The @OldPubClub is in #MysticCT at the @CaptDPI (The Captain Daniel Packer Inne). The #CaptainDanielPackerInne was erected at its current site on the Mystic River on Water St. in 1754. This tavern is exactly what the #OldPubClub looks for with its authentic wood beams, fireplace and mantles. The delicious, locally sourced, entrees, very helpful staff and tasty cocktails don't hurt either. If you are in Mystic and want that colonial feeling, this is the place.

After my mom got out of the hospital, I wanted to bring her somewhere for some yummy food. As soon as we got to Captain Daniel, they were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Our waitress, Faith, explained the menu very well and was knowledgeable of the specials available too. Its location near downtown Mystic village was super too. We ordered lobster rolls, chicken wings, French onion soup and clam chowder. It was all delicious and I could tell the French fries were hand cut! We sat right near the front and had a view of the water which felt nice too :)

Came here for lunch on a Thursday around 2pm. The parking was lot was full but we were able to find parking on the street down the road. We were able to have a seat anywhere and we took a seat at the bar. The inside is nice and has a great ambiance. We ordered a New England Clam Chowder to split and then I ordered a Grilled Tuna Steak Sandwich. The Clam Chowder was good and so was the sandwich. Nothing crazy good but good. Prices were average, ~$12 for the soup and ~$19 for the sandwich. The food took a decent amount of time to come out, it felt like 45 minutes. It was very filling.

The downstairs bar is a very cool spot

Great find, feels like a place that people keep To themselves. The bar is not a large space, but the stone walls and low ceilings make you feel like you stepped back in time and found a place that provides shelter from the storm. Bartender was friendly and managed the bar with proficiency. We walked so I can't speak to parking, but a great spot and worth a pint or three.

What a wonderful little place. We found it via Yelp and the promise of a good hot lobster roll. I had the DPI special Lemon Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. Simply said, all 3 were excellent and together, outstanding. The place is quaint, but not too crowded in the bar area. Upstairs looked like a more formal setting. A 4-piece jazz group was setting up next to us and we would have loved to have stayed and caught a set, but the bar rapidly filled up and the opportunity was lost (maybe next time).

This dish under casual plates has skewers with sirloin, shrimp and scallops over oven roasted potatoes, soooo good!

Okay this place! I want to keep my little secret but it wouldn't be fair. This is hands down the best meal you could have in Mystic. My family visits Mystic every six months and this is one place we have always kinda skipped for one reason or the other. Now I'm sitting here dealing with regret because it will be my first choice for all my upcoming trips. When I tell you I haven't been impressed with the flavors and quality of the food in a long time, well this place absolutely changed that. The food here is outstanding! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the chicken dish and the sauce was amazing. We also ordered This dish under casual plates which had skewers with sirloin, shrimp and scallops over oven roasted potatoes, soooo good! The dessert was a 10/10. Our waiter was super friendly, funny and attentive. We forgot his name because we were so into the food but he had a ponytail and if he reads this I hope he knows he made our dining experience an awesome one. This place also has a lot of history and has been family run and operated for years! This is our new favorite place in Mystic! A must try when you're in the area.

I ordered it with a gluten-free bun and the bun came out pretty much burnt. The burger was also supposed to come with cheese, but there was barely any cheese on it at all. The "pickled" onions were probably the strangest part. They honestly just tasted like slimy raw onions and added nothing to the burger. They also don't have a separate fryer, so being gluten-free meant I couldn't even have fries with my burger, which was disappointing. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the burger was a huge miss for me, especially with such limited gluten-free options to go along with it.

The employee dropping the food even asked "gluten-free over here?" before placing the vegan burger in front of me. We self-corrected this at the last possible second, because my friend cut into her burger & just as she was about to take a bite she realized it was real meat. This could've been a disaster for both of us. May I suggest those little toothpicks for marking allergies & whatnot? Visiting Jealous Monk was a very average experience. The whole food situation was just so Sysco - I'd rather just cook at home. I think this is a good spot for large groups & beer enthusiasts.

Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. We got a platter of nachos and the only exciting thing was the sheer size of it: one platter served five people, with some more to spare. The nachos were dry, flavorless, and was almost like dipping chips into a generic grocery store queso. All the vegetables were raw, so it didn't add much to the dish. I'd recommend really seasoning at least one element of the tray, like the vegetables, and it would have been decent. The Nashville fried chicken sandwich was spicy without flavor. Another massive portion size with plenty of fries, but nothing I would order again. Sweet Thai chili sauce that came with the Brussels sprouts had the texture of wet corn starch that had been mixed in with a bottled chili sauce--gloopy and oddly too sweet.
