This is an unassuming bar cafe in a strip mall. I would say that Sneekers is loaded with regulars and locals. One of my friends recommended this place to me. So I went. Like I said, it's a local bar that serves decent food. I ordered the Rhode Island clam chowder and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for about $15. I also had a local craft beer. The craft beer was suggested by the waitress and was cold, and on point with a citrusy flavor. It was really good. Nothing seemed to hit me on the menu so I went with Rhode Island clam chowder to compare, that included a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. The Rhode Island clam chowder was OK. But the grilled ham and cheese was on point, that included lots of cheese, and a smoky ham. I like this. On a cold and damp day like today, I couldn't think of anything better than soup and a grilled cheese. This was comfort food. So if you're ever in the Groton area, and you're hungry and need a beer or a cocktail, this would be an OK stop. There are other choices I would like to visit, so I'm sorry to say this is probably a one and done for me. We were honestly hesitant about trying this place out, as pubs/bar & grill places aren't really our jam. But it had great reviews, so we thought we'd give it a chance. We're very glad we did! The food is solid, no matter what we order. My husband likes the burrito, and I've liked everything else I've tried also (I like to switch it up). Drinks were well made by a very happy and warm staff who kept apologizing because it took a while to serve us. The only thing I would suggest is putting an extra bartender on to just do service. I came by with the family on a Thursday evening. They had live music and it was packed. We found one single table near the music, which it was not the best choice but we were hungry and didn't want to wait. The music was too loud and not synchronized properly so it hurt our ears. Songs were nice it just was too close for us. About 15 minutes later, The waitress was nice enough to move us farther as soon as a table became available and that was awesome. Food came quick enough considering how packed it was. I didn't take any pictures on this day because for real I was very hungry. We had 3 Ruben sandwiches and sweet potatoes. It was perfect. We all devoured it. We had some chicken tenders and fries; and extra sweet potatoes to share. Everything was delicious. We did have to tell the waitress about a few things that were forgotten but she was always pleasant. We left very happy. I'm sure people may not think much of this place but I can tell you the food and atmosphere are great. They have a full bar; great prices; fun bartenders and good variety of draft beers which I love. I decided to order wings and brussels sprouts once they came back open. Today I did - a poor presentation. - I don't understand why they have such a good rep for their wings, they were not cooked enough and small. Let me start out with when you walk in you time warp back to the 80's. Don't panic and run for I had the thought to run but became extremely happy I stayed. While sitting and looking around the establishment you can pick up on who is a regular in this place. The interaction is great between the staff and them to the point you would say they are family. The service was great and my wife and I tried the potato balls. They were about the size of a baseball, but dang they were great and with the horsy sauce they got better. To the main courses and my wife had the Chicken parm and stated it was good. The portion was large so she never finished it. My meal was the Wicked Chicken Pasta. This entree was fantastic. I never have seen this on any menu before and was very delighted with it. It has a creamy Gorgonzola sauce with cherry peppers and the chicken is buffalo sauced. I could not not finish this my self and well we have lunch now. When I'm the area I will be back for as they say don't judge a book by its cover. The Fish & Chips special for only $14.99 was quite tasty and fresh and it's obvious why that is what they are known for. My Mussels & Clams in garlicky tomato broth was so delicious that I requested a spoon to get every drop of that broth after using the 3 slices of fresh French bread to sop up all I could. Dessert for my hunbie was a 'homemade' Black Forest Cake which he raved about as he quickly devoured it. I preferred to drink my dessert in the form of their Key Lime Pie Martini, not overly sweet with a fresh lime taste, topped with whipped cream, served in a graham cracker rimmed glass. The staff who work here are very kind. Despite being near closing time, they seated our group of 10. Also, they have 50 cents wings on Sundays which are great. The little shopping center Sneekers sits in seems a bit sketchy, but was pleasantly surprised by the place, itself. Funky little dive bar/pub. When I went (on a Wednesday night about 9:00), they had some live music going making for a fun atmosphere. Seems like a local version of Cheers...where you go, and everybody knows everybody, and everybody seems to have a great time. I ordered a burger which was tasty and was good portion size for the price. I don't drink, but from what I could tell, seems like there was no shortage of selection if that's your thing. Only reason I give a 4 instead of 5 is because I did have to wait for a long time to place/get my order. There a few very large parties there and only one waitress working to room. A very unassuming looking place from the outside but once you get inside it's like home! The waitstaff was super attentive and explained various menu items to us.
