Ordered a large mountain of a fountain dew, refills for a nominal fee. Only ordered large side of market price whole Belly clams. Portion did not wow me but was acceptable. Bellies are fresh, but on the small side for a connosuier like myself. Tartar is homemade. A bit tart, seems like its cucumber and greek yogurt but i could be way off. For a road-side food stand, they are functional food in a location with very little in terms of options. You either get the dino park or you get the road stand, and both are not the best options. Given a choice between the two? The food stand is better. Cheaper overall and better quality. I appreciate that they grill their hot dog buns, and everything was cooked to order. Most of their menu is fried foods, which does kind of limit your diet options. But it's a food stand, health conscious foods are not this locations forte. The hot sausage had a little spice, but not a lot. The kelbasa was decent, but very fatty. price was okay, little high for a stand but not too crazy to be overwhelming. If you're coming off fresh from the dino park and you need a cheaper bite of food for you and the kiddies, this place will serve that function. Not good enough to make the trek to, but technically the best option for the area without spending a ton of money on chicken nuggets and french fries. read more

The ice cream cone was the the best part. The food came out fairly quickly and the fries and burger were fresh, we ordered a hot lobster roll but it came out like room temperature which was a little ehhh but my husband still ate it. They don't have kids menus, and service could have been better not on the young cashiers end but from the older blonde woman who it appeared was supposed to be helping her. We had a cheese burger, fries, lobster roll and a small ice cream cone (no drinks or water) for $40 and some change, Definitely felt like I could've have something way better somewhere else for that price. The fries are not worth 6 dollars. i could go home right now, Make crab cakes, shit them out and eat it again and it would taste 45 times better then these crabs cakes. Located near The Dinosaur Place with plenty of outside picnic tables with umbrellas and soon to reopen at a later date inside dining The employees are really friendly and the ordering process is simple . Two windows outside for ordering the other to pickup. You cap your own drinks if you choose a fountain drink (new rules) which some will appreciate. They sell hotdogs,hamburgers(looks amazing btw) claims strips , gyros ,curly fries ,onion rings and more ! A pretty good menu and family friendly pricing. We ordered a hotdog(not the best looks boiled) you can add toppings we just had ketchup on it. Curly fries were nicely cooked and a decent size for a small order . Onion rings were thin and absolutely delicious like they battered before you got them I am sure . A turkey grinder with over the top lettuce so you may have to ask them to add less (pictured) otherwise was a good sandwich . Lastly , two orders of clam strip rolls . They were good . The hot lobster roll was terrible. Over cooked no flavor never had one that bad ever. Don't know why the little roll was soggy because it wasn't from butter . The whole belly clams ok not the best . Was just a David's with 6 people everyone order and I paid for the meals.the wait for the food was ok . But when I got the order there was one chicken breast sandwich which was not made.they said that we only ordered one . had to wait for the chicken sandwich to be made and now all my other food is cold.I took one bite of the chicken breast sandsandwich and it was not a chicken breast but a preprocessed ground chicken that had the texture of a sponge.everyone else was finished with there meals and I just through mine in the garbage can.If you spend 9 dollars for a chicken breast sandwich it should be a real chicken breast meat.spent over 200 dollars for everyones meal.I will not bring anyone there ever again. read more

I love coming here during the Summer! They have a tasty and delicious Fried Fish Sandwich! Great whole belly calms, Burgers & Hotdogs with Chili and the list goes on. The owner is such a sweet friendly older gentleman! This place is a must on my summer hit list! It wouldn't feel like summer without stopping in for some tasty offerings. This place has been our '"go to spot" for years. Last night will be out last. First of all, the number of "do not" signs do not exhibit a welcoming atmosphere. We were waiting for the food police to appear. The prices have risen dramatically. $6.55 for 6 inedible clam fritters! Any local baseball team could use them to "play ball"! Stopped at David's Place Sunday 7/12/2020. I ordered clam strips dinner and wife had cheeseburger. We also tried the fried mac and cheese bites. Clam strips were very good, price was very reasonable for portion size, clams were fried perfectly and not greasy. Cheeseburger was on small side after grilled- not sure how grilled but definitely not cooked on flat top. If you have a bigger appetite might want to order 2 burgers. The homemade ice tea is good but not sweet, and it's served warm. Ice was added but melted almost instantly. All in all I would make a drive to eat here again and try other food. They also have picnic tables around side and back of building. The mac and cheese bites were good also. read more

Have been a couple times each season with mixed results. Tonight was the worst of them. The clam strips were visibly overcooked and the taste reflected it. Since they were dark, you'd think they wouldn't let it leave the kitchen like that. They weren't busy and we had phoned in our order since They were close to closing and I didn't feel I could ask them for a new order. They got part of our phone in order wrong and she wasn't paying attention and tried to charge me again for something. She was a little indignant about it which is why I also didn't want to complain about the strips. The onion rings were soggy and the shakes thin. For over $40, we could have had a nice meal out elsewhere. Maybe fried seafood isn't what we should get. Maybe a sandwich would be a safer bet. I have passed by David's Place many times over the years but had never stopped in. I finally did a week or so ago. It is a solid bet. The fried clams were crisp and very tasty; the onion rings were tempura breaded (the best way to have these, IMO) and not at all greasy and the meat sauce on the hot dog was spicy and very tasty. I also appreciated the toasted New England-style roll for the dog. This is the usual roadside drive-in fare but it rates right up there with just about any of the other drive-in stops in CT. They also have burgers, chicken sandwiches, seafood and ice cream. The counter and kitchen areas looked extremely clean and there is plenty of picnic table seating off to the side for eating on site. They also have an indoor seating area that is air conditioned. If driving by on Route 85, David's is worth the stop. read more

Have eaten the Lobster rolls here many times over the years. The ones we just had were terrible. First, the pieces were so, so small. No real pieces of a claw or a lobster tale. Just a bunch of small pieces. At first it appeared that the meat was piled high on the bun, but then I realized that the bun has shrunk. It used to be a regular hot dog roll size, but now it is at least one inch shorter. The price has increased to $20.95, for a much smaller roll and not very good lobster meat. read more

What a wonderful little summertime roadside eatery! There are picnic tables set up outside, and an air conditioned dining area inside for those (like me) who need a break from the summer humidity. Parking isn't a problem here, they have their own private lot. My family and I were visiting The Dinosaur Place across the street and decided that David's Place would probably provide a more tasteful and economic lunch. I know we were right! Our food came out quickly and it was all good! I had the fish and chips, it was crisp and well seasoned, just the way it should be. My husband loved the clam fritters and there were burgers and dogs for my kids to chow down! The service was friendly, the place was clean, and the food was great! Definitely a great option, especially if you find yourself at the park across the street, like we did, and don't want to pay 5X as much for junky food. Only downside for us was that there is no cross walk between David's Place and The Dinosaur Place and it's kind of silly to have to drive such a minuscule distance. read more

Let me start by saying I am an African American woman who brought her family to have a fun day at Dinosaur Place. We decided afterwards to go to David's place which is directly across the street. We were the only black family on the line. I never carry cash so I specifically looked for any signs that said cash only and there was none. There was a sign that said 4% discount if you use cash. So when it was my time to place my order the cashier (who was an older blonde white woman) immediately says cash only. Now she didn't say that to any of the white families that were in front or behind me. I ignored her and gave her my debit card. She snatched it from me and when the transaction was approved she slaps it on the counter along with my receipt and told me what my order number was. As much as I wanted to ask her if she had a problem I didn't because it was a fantastic day that I had with my family and did not want this unprofessional Karen to ruin my families day. In saying this I am giving David's Place a 2 because customer service goes a long way especially as a small business. My green money is the same as all the other white families that were on line. The food was fresh and it was enjoyable but I rather eat nasty food with great customer service than great food with horrible service. This is my first and last time going there. read more

My Mom and Grandma were visiting from Arizona and we were across the street at the antique shops when we saw David's place. We looked it up on yelp and some of the reviews made us wonder, but we decided to give it a try. We were very, very happy we stopped in to try the food! There is inside seating (which was great for my grandma even though it was a bit warm). We had three hot dogs, a kielbasa burger, onion rings, and curly fries. All of it was super yummy! We also had to have some of the ice cream... the moose tracks were fantastic, my grandma loved her pistachio ice cream, and my husband liked his chocolate shake. This is a great little place for some very yummy summer time food! Some of the reviews said the staff were not nice and didn't care... Well we disagree! The girls taking the order and cooking were very sweet and made sure we got what we wanted. The older man (possibly the owner??) who took our ice cream order even came to speak with us at our table and he was very kind and fun. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this cute, yummy place. The only suggestion my mom would add is she would like some yellow mustard in the bottles and not the packets haha, but other than that, it was all great! read more

The food at David's place is exactly how you would think it would be. It's pretty good. From what I hear the Lobster rolls and the clams are amazing but I haven't had them personally. What I have had was the ice cream which is very good, and the burger which was what I expected. I would return someday. read more
