Dublin lawyer
Allison K.

Tiny seafood spot with amazing appeal of having the best lobster roll in Connecticut! I have to say I'm a lobster roll aficionado and this one went straight to the top of my list! Also the Dublin lawyer- an inventive hybrid between a hot lobster roll and a cheesesteak - was also incredible. This was our first time but won't be our last. What a hidden gem! The servers and chefs were all super welcoming and friendly! Do not miss this place!

I did not, on purpose, visit The Inishor the day after WFSB Channel 3 crowned the 'Shor best Lobster Roll in CT. I've heard people say that the 'Shor has the best Lobster Roll, but I wasn't following the Channel 3 story. So there was an unexpected medium long line out the door to order at 12:15, and a group of customers hovering outside waiting for their orders. As I planned to visit, I wasn't sure I was going to order a lobster roll, or even a sandwich. They have fried seafood as well, and I bet they make a killer Fish and Chips too. Ultimately, I did not exactly order a Lobster Roll, but my sandwich makes me credible on the subject. I ordered "The Dublin Lawyer". Surf and Turf on a Banh Mi roll. It comes with lots of that same butter poached lobster that makes the Hot Roll so popular. It also comes with shaved ribeye. And a whiskey cream sauce that ties it all together. The sandwich is served with fries and coleslaw. If you're going to charge $36 (I get that shelled lobster is expensive btw) for a sandwich, fries and slaw, and then ask people to wait in line for it, you better nail every part. The 'Shor nailed every part. And the staff was remarkably good spirited given the crowd. They managed the orders well too. They came outside, and called my number. I ate at a nearby bench away from the crowd. I loved the sandwich. The lobster tasted fresh and it was tender . The pieces, like claw and knuckle, were substantial and looked great. The shaved ribeye was also high quality. I don't always love alcohol based sauces, but the whiskey cream sauce was mild and rich. The bun was fresh and a good choice for the lobster, steak and sauce delivery system. The 'Shor's fry style is not one you see at a lot of CT's restaurants. It's more of a medium, square cut and is appropriate for something like Fish & Chips. They were terrific. Crispy on the outside. Tender inside. Good temperature and golden brown color. I ordered a side of tartar sauce for dipping. It was homemade, tangy and delicious. The slaw was very good too. The 'Shor has inside counter seating and a few inside tables. There were several umbrella-shades picnic benches outside. The town green is across the way too if you need more space or want a picnic vibe. I can't wait to explore more of the 'Shors' menu. 5 Stars

There's a reason they were voted one of the best lobster rolls in CT. It's because they have one of the best. The lobster tastes amazing and the butter ratio is absolutely perfect. We feasted on it outside in the shade and it's the perfect way to do outdoor dining in Colchester. Their fries are heavenly too, and their staff are so so nice.

Best hot lobster roll in CT! Nice ambiance as well with bar seats if you want to dine in

While the SCALLOPS were amongst the best I've ever had- the rest was truly lacking. Paying close to $80 dollars for a sandwich in which the bread was the star and main ingredient? Well, to say it was an expensive and lackluster disappointment for two is just the truth. Served on cheap paper goods and with very inexpensive very pliable plastic cutlery and tiny crunchy napkins... was an insult. Even our beverages of choice were served in tiny paper cups without the favor of any ice. I'll enclose pictures. Don't bother with wasting your hard earned money - small wonder as to why the place was empty for the duration of our stay, as we ate "in. " I believe there were no dessert options to counter the lacking grub. The very small portion of vinegary slaw, nor the frozen seasoned fries were worth even mentioning, either-except that --IF you DO go, don't go very hungry-and DO get the scallops. But bring along plenty of money even if it's just for a quick lunch bite.

What a great spot to get some lobster rolls. This is a small restaurant with more outside seating than in. The service is very friendly as well. But let's be honest, we came here looking for the lauded lobster rolls, and they didn't disappoint. I just came back from a trip to Maine, and these rolls were better than some I had up there. Generous portions of succulent lobster, overflowing the top cut, butter toasted rolls. The warm lobster was buttery goodness, nothing to see here but bun, lobster, and butter. Perfection, in my opinion. The chilled roll had a plethora of stuff going on, but it was still large lobster chunks underneath it all. All the add-ins didn't overpower or obscure the lobster, which is a real risk. Also served with very tasty fries and coleslaw that's actually worth eating. Bottom line, you can go to Maine for a great roll, or you can just go to the Inishshor and know it's just as good or better. 1st place out of 13 lobster rolls we had in CT this year.

We drove 50 minutes to try the lobster roll after seeing the best lobster roll in CT on WFSB. The lobster roll was amazing!! Buttery roll with a large portion of lobster in it! Every bite was delicious! The lobster grilled cheese was equally delicious. It over flowed with lobster and cheese. It was so worth the drive! They only issue was we went to Inishsmor which was next door and waited over 30 minutes before realizing we were at the pub and not the seafood spot. Fortunately, the taste of the food amase up for it.

Hot lobster roll and crab and corn chowder.

The good is great. A ton of butter lobster on the lobster roll with the best fries I have ever had. Then one of their specials was a crab and corn chowder that out of this world. Service great, friendly and quick. Know that there is only two tables inside and but several outside.

Epic double burger and fries - a true classic!…read more Had the double burger with fries and it was absolutely epic! The patties were thick, juicy, and packed with flavor - exactly what you'd hope for from a historic Connecticut drive-in like Harry's Place. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, making the whole meal a standout. This place has been around for over 100 years for a reason. Great portions, no-frills deliciousness, and that old-school vibe. If you're craving a solid burger and fries (or their famous clams/hot dogs), this is the spot. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! Highly recommend - 10/10 on the burger front.

This is kind of weird. I don't think this is a New England thing or a Connecticut thing. Had I known there was mustard and relish at a condiment counter around the corner, I would've just got a plain dog. The place gets busy for lunch and there's only one order taker. So the line can get out of that testy, especially if you're in a hurry. I know many say this is an institution and I shouldn't be speaking negatively about it, but it is what it is it's overrated. Yes it's been around for a long time, but it's super expensive for a hot dog and milkshake. I see no value here. I should've went up and around the corner to that bar that serves those really great lobster rolls. Colchester is a beautiful town, with many wonderful choices for a place to eat. I don't think this is one of them.

During the…read morewarmer months, we might take a to-go order and eat it on the 'town green' nearby for a picnic lunch. I love these older New England town greens. It seems like the drive thru line is always veerrrryyy long. I just walk inside. Why idle my engine for twenty minutes (or whatever) to pick up a meal. Inside I'm usually first or second in line and have my food in minutes. The entrance situation on this building is odd. You really can not see it. Located on the side of the building, facing the main road, you have to cross through the drive-thru line of cars (or park on the left side of the building), follow the sidewalk toward the drive-thru, bear left and then look to your left to see the door. We placed a rather large (seven people) on-line order over the summer and they did manage to forget an item, so I get how that process needs to improve at this location. We also got an item that was not 'ours' in that order. Perhaps a case of 'wrong bag' in a busy kitchen? Whatever, the person without a burger was unimpressed as was the person who paid for the sandwich. Figuring out how to stop this madness definitely needs to happen. When we order inside for just a person or two, they do 'get it right'. There are napkins, straws and a couple other items located in an area just past the cashier. Whether you are dining-in, or taking-out, you need to grab your own items from this area. The staff are pleasant even if not the most interactive. Last visit I had their fish value meal. I must say, this fish is good. The outside is surprisingly crispy, you can really taste the cheese on there, nice bun and it was well constructed (as in, everything lined up, my cheese wasn't half off the patty for example). I will definitely get this fish sandwich any day ahead of some other fast food option. Way better texture and taste. I like Wendy's and am glad I have this option. On days I need to 'chew and screw' this is my preferred option.
