    Chicken Marsala
    Barbara B.

Found a restaurant close to Norma Terris theater. It ended up a very good meal. Janet, our very friendly waitress, was very attentive and the owner Sal even came over to check on us. We all enjoyed our food. We started with clams casino..a little pricey for 5 small clams, but they were tasty. The Nashville hot chicken was a huge sandwich .. so big I am taking half home. My friend tried the special which was braised short ribs. Two of the three ribs were well prepared but one had a bit too much fat making it inedible. The chicken parm and chicken Marsala were both hits. We all enjoyed our drinks especially appreciating the $5 Blu Moon and $7 Two Roads . We love to try new places. Glad we chose this one .

    Amazing plate of yumminess!!!

Had the porkchop with cheesy mashed potatoes and flame seared tomatoes.... Delicious!!! Always a great meal from Chef Mike. Porkchop was seasoned and cooked to perfection! And Courtney, the bartender, always makes you feel right at home. Smiles and great fun when we are at Landing & Main!

Fish sandwich , sweet potato fries. The burger plate looked identical to this except it was a burger instead of a piece of fish .

Found this place online for a late lunch/early dinner after doing some shopping in the area. It was an unusually warm day for March, & it showed that they had outside seating, plus menu items that appealed to us. The photos we saw on Google looked great. We arrived...and the outside seating turned out to be a small patio adjacent to the parking lot. All the outdoor tables were dusty and dirty, obviously not being used. Ok, understandable, it's March. We went inside. There were maybe a half dozen people at the bar who appeared to be regulars. That's it. Nobody at any tables. It WAS a weekday afternoon (Thursday) so we didn't think much of it. The place did not look as new & fresh as it did in the online photos, but it was ok. Our server was the bartender who greeted us when we walked in. My partner decided on some kind of steak tips over crostini dish which the server/bartender recommended, it was a "special" that day, not on the menu. I just ordered the fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. And we waited. And waited. I was hungry. Contemplated leaving. AT LEAST 30-40 minutes went by, and the server finally came over- to tell us that they couldn't find any bread so they couldn't make the steak tips/crostini dish! Wow. She was very nice, and apologetic, but it was still kind of ridiculous. WHY did it take so long to inform us they were out of that item? The food came a little while after that and it wasn't great. The fish was ok, but it tasted like it was frozen not fresh. Same with the sweet potato fries, definitely a frozen product just heated up. Partner's burger was alright, but he said the bun seemed a bit stale (I didn't eat mine). The server did end up comping us for his meal, I guess she felt bad for the wait; so at least we didn't spend a ton. Just overall not great, and I felt like the pics on their website are a little misleading? It looked like a higher end restaurant with great fresh food, and it definitely wasn't that .

    Lobster bisque

I went to this place because of convenience since it was pretty close to where we were in the area. We went early afternoon and it was not busy at all so we were seated right away. We were a big party of about 10 people and they were able to accommodate for that amount but I don't see it working when it's busy, but it just might. Ordered for apps the lobster bisque which was okay not a lot of flavor, just ok. For my main I got the chicken cutlet sandwich. I asked for cheese because it doesn't come with it. I thought the sandwich was pretty dry and they toast the bread for you just as a heads up for those like me that don't like their sandwiches with toasted bread. Someone in my party ordered the Buffalo wings, which had flavor but were a bit too salty for my taste. I did try the French onion soup from my boyfriend and that was pretty good. Overall, this place has a wide variety of things to choose from which is good for parties that have different tastes, but I don't see myself coming again if I'm in the area.

This place was great about connecting and making the meal more enjoyable. Our server was a young lady named Nicole. She was passionate about the food and knowledgeable and down to earth. The food was EXCELLENT but elevated even more by the service we got from the servers and manager. Our steak was cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed the $1 happy hour oysters in the bar area. This place was just as enjoyable as a fine dining experience at a high end place like Flemings. In fact, this was better than Flemings location in West Hartford. We wanted a place that had sushi and steak and we found this place. Everything we had was over a 9/10 for us. The pimento Mac n cheese was so good as a side dish. The 30 day aged rib-eye was so good as a main course. We did give feedback about the crispy rice appetizer being too crispy and they just straight up comp'ed us for it. We weren't even trying to get it for free but they were so on top of everything. If you have a date night or special occasion, please consider this place. I will definitely return.

The cowhide chairs, beautiful booths, and warm lighting give it an upscale feel without being stuffy. It was the perfect setting for a Friday night sister date. My personal favorites were the oysters (so fresh!) and the truffle fries, which were dangerously good. We also shared the croquettes and the crab cake, and both were packed with flavor. To end the night, we treated ourselves to the crème brûlée cheesecake, which was the perfect sweet finish. Great atmosphere, great food, and the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. I'm already planning my next visit. Bonus: Monday through Thursday they offer $1 oysters and $8 martinis , and they also have a $69 prix fixe menu that's definitely worth trying.

The interior decor of the restaurant is a bit bland- multiple tables arranged in a large room. The room could definitely use some color to brighten the mood. Ceiling tiles were stained and detracted from the atmosphere. But I did like the choice of music- Sinatra, Patsy Cline, etc.! Great choices! The food was, overall, fairly good. The wedge salad was different than usual, served with blue cheese and dressing but also with a balsamic addition. Unusual but good. The rigatoni bolognese was very tasty. The Canadian salmon was good- however the Parmesan risotto could have used more flavor (salt?). The Delmonico steak was served on a sizzling platter and was cooked properly (I ordered it rare and it was rare). However, the meat was a bit tough/chewy which detracted from the meal. Not the quality of meat I would expect from a higher end steakhouse. Overall the meal was okay, but not up to par with other steak houses I've been to.

It was founded by restaurateurs Daniel Kay, Marc Knight, and Robert Bolduc. Knight and Bolduc had previously had success when they opened the popular southwestern restaurant Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in the Elm City in November 2007. Kay had spent nearly 15 years serving as the president of Connecticut Fluid Power. In 2015, the three business partners came together to open a new venture at New Haven's historic City Point. The location (on the ground level below the Pequonnock Yacht Club) had been home to several restaurants for decades (most recently to Sage American Grill & Oyster Bar). After a complete remodel, they opened Shell & Bones. The trio brought in the award-winning executive chef Arturo Franco Camacho to serve as the culinary director. My wife and I recently had a lunch date at Shell & Bones. The restaurant had been on our bucket list for some time. We loved the nautical theme of the decor as well as the amazing views of New Haven Harbor. We were seated in the indoor patio; it was a little too cold and rainy during our visit for al fresco dining. For drinks, I ordered "The Breakfast Bloody Mary" (Ostreida oyster vodka, Tres Agaves Bloody Mary mix, chorizo, cocktail shrimp, bacon, cornichon, olives) while my wife had the "Lavender Limoncello Spritzer". The cocktails were just as visually pleasing as they were delicious. From the raw bar, we shared four "Lucky Lady" oysters, which were super light and smooth. For our entrées, I had the "Crab Cake B.L.T." (sweet & spicy bacon, romaine, tomato, chipotle mayo, brioche roll) and my wife had the "Shell & Bones Lobster Roll" (served hot w/ house-made Lobster Butter). For our sides, we both ordered "Hand Cut Truffle Parmesan Fries". My sandwich was bursting with flavor, my wife's lobster roll was one of the best we ever had, and the fries were just the icing on the cake. We looked over the dessert menu (which looked great), but we were way too full. We had a fantastic experience at Shell & Bones and look forward to returning!

It comes with the mixed veggies (Broccoli. Carrots. Squash) and potato of the day (homemade mashed potatoes). The steak was a bit chewy and did not seem to be a typical prime cut of beef I am used to getting back in Texas. Maybe prime beef in Connecticut isn't as good quality, who knows. The homemade bread that comes out before the dinner is good but hard. It's also very garlicky. Service was a bit awkward. Our waitress came by halfway through and said she was checking to make sure we were well taken care of...but my tea was almost empty and she just walked off and didn't say she'd refill it. I eventually had to flag her down a few mins later to ask for a refill. At fancy restaurants, they just fill it without you asking. She also messed up my colleagues meal. He asked for no squash and the chef seemed to put extra squash on his plate. She should have remembered that he didn't want squash. When I saw the menu stated l the recommended temps and basically anything over "medium" was sacrilegious, or something to that effect, I was stoked. I am a black and blue, or Pittsburgh rare guy, and when I requested a great steak house when visiting, this seemed like the right call. My exact statement, as always, when ordering a steak, was "I will 1000% never send it back for too rare, and cold in the center is fine", so when my ribeye was served at BEST medium, it was disappointing to say the least. At $50, I expected the temp to be spot on. The waitress seemed "meh" when she came around and I noted that the temp was well over, she did apologize, but that was about it. In 1000% transparency, I've had way better temps at Texas Roadhouse. Flavor was fine, the sweet potato side was nice, but for a $50 steak to miss temp by that much? Very, very disappointing. Next time I visit, certain I'll look elsewhere. The most disappointing thing is that a black and blue temp is not hard. Yes, its a PIA to get out with a three top, but a 4-6 minute ribeye to miss by that much, at a steakhouse, is a bit of a travesty.
