Salt Brick Prime Steakhouse, you've truly outdone yourselves. From the moment you walk through the meat-locker-style entrance (yes, really), you're greeted with warmth, class, and a hint of drama--in the best way. The hostess greets you like royalty, and the sleek bar and stylish decor set the tone for what's to come. To start? Warm popovers that melt in your mouth as you browse a menu full of indulgent options. First bite: Thick-cut bacon glazed with Chinese five spice, laid on crispy rice, topped with green onions. Bold. Savory. Addictive. Main event: Porterhouse for Two. Perfectly cooked. Tender enough to cut with a glance. Served alongside garlicky mashed potatoes with chives, balsamic-glazed asparagus, and a dreamy medley of mushrooms & onions. Every side elevated the dish. And just when you think it can't get any better--you're gifted a cloud of complimentary blue raspberry cotton candy to end the night on a sweet, playful note. If you're in Branford, Connecticut and looking for an unforgettable dining experience (yes, there's a prix fixe menu too!) -- Salt Brick Prime is a must. #SteakhouseGoals #SaltBrickPrime #FoodieFinds #PorterhousePerfection #CTEats #DinnerVibes #InstagramEats #WhiteAesthetic

Came on a Sunday evening so it was pretty quiet but nice. The space is nicely decorated think cross between rustic-(cowhide print on booths) to upscale ( Crystal chandelier). Service was great, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We had a birthday and they did come out with a slice of cake and candle. Will our server was awesome. We ordered French onion soup, wedge salad, Caesar salad, clam chowder. All were very good. To start they bring out warm popovers and butter. The wine selection is pretty good offering a nice variety to choose from. For entrees we had filets and broccoli raab the steaks were very good and very tender the broccoli raab the opposite and unable to cut it. One person ordered an aged ribeye which I tasted it was very good and came with a small bunch of salad greens. We ordered extra sides. Mac n cheese (no) had an off putting flavor Brussels sprouts had chestnuts and one type of yogurt sauce (no) The potatoes were good The desserts were all very good. Choc cake, cheesecake, and a pumpkin pot de crem I think a bit of tweaking on the sides is needed but all in all was a nice dinner.

We tried Saltbrick Prime last night and it did not disappoint, it's a beautiful restaurant. We were running a little late because of the rain, but I was able to call and push our reservation back 20 minutes with no problem--so thankful for that! Now, let's get into the food. We both went with the PrimeTime 3-course deal and honestly, it was the best decision. Everything was delicious. I had the chowder, the cod with vegetables, and finished with the crème brûlée cheesecake. My husband went with the Caesar salad, prime rib, and chocolate cake. Needless to say, we left stuffed and happy. The drinks were on point, the service was amazing, and the whole experience was a 10/10. We'll definitely be back.

This place would be one star if we were just talking about the food, but the service was great so it gets two. My first steak came out pretty overcooked (ordered medium rare, came out mostly brown) so I sent it back with the prices being so high. The second steak I ordered came out cooked okay, but it was inedibly salty. The manager did comp part of the bill unprompted, which I appreciated, but for the price I would obviously prefer to be able to eat the steak. The sides and desserts were good. Restaurant was very nice inside, the steak just needs to be figured out.

This is a well-thought out restaurant with a beautiful environment, fantastic service, and delicious food. We tried the prixe fixe menu and enjoyed a satisfying filet mignon, an outstanding cheesy French onion soup, grilled asparagus and a fun wedge salad. Sophia was an entertaining mixologist who served the perfect watermelon martini on a hot summer day. I'm really looking forward to going back. This is my new favorite restaurant which is on par with Café Routier in Westbrook or Liv's Oyster Bar in Old Saybrook. A real gem.

Anyone that reads my reviews will know I believe any restaurant in Connecticut is lackluster with very few exceptions to 3 that I like. So going into this restaurant I had high expectations because the owner is from Daniel and was instrumental in one of the Daniel Michelin Stars, but I was very skeptical. Upon arrival there was no host to great us, and once there was we found out our table wasn't ready so oh boy here we go. We waited for our table at the bar and almost immediately we were greeted by Webster who in his first sentence said "sorry the tables not ready, your drinks are on the house" I was pretty impressed as we didnt make a comment to anyone about the table not being ready and this was a courtesy I have never seen extended in Connecticut while it is standard practice in almost any other state. The dining area is pretty cool, salt looking bricks line some walls, others with cowhide, theres a tree in the middle and a entire cow on a ledge looking down on you. The only thing I would change is the lighting seems brighter than you would expect. Overall it has a nice air and was very welcoming. I especially liked the chandeliers and raw wood beams. They promote their patented aging process that adds to the name of the restaurant but really its an offshoot of David Burks patent for aging steaks and while cool is just copy cat. The waitress brought rolls to the table that were very hard and flavorless. I have had a similar roll at Daniel and at a steakhouse in Washington DC that were delicious but these were not good. I ordered 6 oysters that came in the standard presentation. They were good but just average. I ordered the 55 day aged ribeye and my wife had the 30. Each had its own distinct flavor and was cooked perfectly. I would say it was a top 3 steak compared to Gallagher's. There weren't any sides that looked appealing so I asked if I could order a sliced tomato and the kitchen happily accommodated the request. Adding bonus points to the experience. My wife had the soup that she said tasted like a Daniel soup we had once, she also ordered the Brussels sprouts which were not that good. Who likes those things anyway, but with the expectation set by the about page on the website they should have been delicious. At the end of the meal everyone gets a blue raspberry cotton candy. It looks like it came from the county fair. Really cool idea, but its presentation takes the glamor the restaurant is trying to achieve down a couple notches. Our waitress was absentee from our table, plates were not cleared and stacked up most of the meal. The waitress must have been very new because she seemed clueless as to how to navigate waiting on a table. Dont want to be mean but this is not the job for her. Overall the meal was very good by Connecticut standards, probably wouldn't cut it with the competition in Manhatten. I was going to give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars but when I noticed today that my bill had two sides of Brussels Sprouts not one that bumped it down. Theres no room for errors on the bill. The restaurant is worthy of a return visit which is huge in Connecticut as other restaurants rarely get a second visit from me. If this place refined itself a little it would be amazing. I recommend you try it out.

LOVE the decor! I absolutely loved the color of the walls, the tree in the middle, and the furniture. Great job to whoever designed this restaurant :) The music was meh. I felt that the type and price of food being served needs to have an ambiance that matches. A sports game was playing loudly at the bar & what sounded like the 2010s Playlist was playing (which I love, just didn't match the ambiance). The servers were friendly, but to be honest, again, I expected a little more attention to detail & extra friendliness. When I think of other high end steakhouses I have been to, the waitstaff is what blows me away and makes me come back again. The food is phenomenal. The prime rib was hands down the best I have ever tasted. The meat MELTED in my mouth. The ribeye had such a great flavor and feel probably due to the 30 day dry-aged process. The shrimp cocktail was super yummy; some complained about the price to quantity ratio, but the shrimp tasted fresh. The oysters were tender and not as salty as one would think- bravo! The dessert was mediocre. The whoopie pie was very dense; the dessert actually tasted like I was just eating a PBJ sandwich. The strawberry sorbet was okay too! Again, high end steakhouses tend to have some sort of specialty on their dessert menu as well, like a soufflé or a crème brûlée- I'd like to see this develop in the future! Overall, this steakhouse is 3 months old with so much potential. Great job with the steaks, decor, and apps- I will definitely be back!

Two of us tried the "prime time" special which runs from 4-5pm- why they don't extend it until at least 6 is beyond me. The dining room was almost empty and employees were seated at the bar as of the service had not begun. We were given the regular menu with its steep prices and had to ask for the prix fixe early menu even though it was 4:30. It took a while for the server to locate it. Food: popovers were dry. Better use a lot of butter! I prefer them softer. Shrimp cocktail- 4 very large grilled? shrimp. Strange. Onion soup- very nice but you need a fork to pierce the flamed cheese top. Broth was excellent. Filet mignon- dry and unremarkable even though ordered medium rare. Dessert- cheesecake and chocolate cake- served cold and likely mediocre commercial cake offerings. Really surprising. Server was pleasant and food was served promptly. Dining room pleasant but felt a bit cavernous being so empty. Price for the bargain dinner with two glasses of wine and coffee and tip almost 2 big ones. We tried the early dinner to see if the food was good enough to justify returning for the full pricier menu. Unlikely we will return. If you can't serve a great prix fixe, I can't imagine that the regular menu will be worth the high prices, which are quite lofty for a restaurant in a shopping center in Branford.

We went on Christmas Eve . Party of 7 . 6pm . There were many tables empty . Appetizers started strong , loved the bacon app - pork belly bacon ? The $59 price fix was a great deal ! All of our food and drinks came - we finished everything, my New York strip was amazing! We had 16 empty glasses on our table - ( water glasses , wine glasses , espresso martini glasses , soda glasses , whiskey glasses ) and dirty plates and side plates and bread plates , and were excited to each get a dessert and coffee . It was 7 pm , but our waitress had disappeared . At 7:20 I got up and walked over to the manager who was chit chatting in the bar area (. I mean this bar is beautiful). And explained that we had been abandoned. He said he would take care of it . Ten more minutes later the waitress came over and gave us the bill . Right in the middle of our table brimming with dirty glasses and plates . I said " ummm. We would really like coffee and dessert ". And she took our dessert order , and brought the desserts. We had to move our dirty plates and dishes and glasses - I. Order to eat our dessert. We just wiped off our used forks and ate . The manager did take $50 off the bill and brought over one free cappuccino. I loved my damn stake , and I would like to go back and maybe eat at the bar ! I also had a baked potato for $12 that was " loaded " ! And it was very good ! I would go again and redo my post . It's hard to find the door of this place - it shares a building with another lovely bar / tavern . So we did have to take time finding the door . It is disguised at a refrigerator door I think .

We had been on a break from eating out since Christmas and owing to family commitments on Valentines Day, we decided to celebrate a week early and get out for a nice, upscale dinner. We had been to Lockworks Tavern and enjoyed it. We decided to try the other side,Salt Brick Prime. Upon arriving, we were a bit confused until we realized that the front door is a walk in freezer door. Pretty cool. Once inside you can see the similarly to the Tavern with the tall ceiling and exposed beams but that is where it ends. The dining room is very upscale looking with round booths in the center around a birch tree and other booths and tables around the perimeters. The bar is gorgeous with a back lite salt brick wall and cool pendent lights. We settled into our booth and were professionally greeted by our waiter. The menu was straightforward and the wine list generous. We decided on a couple cocktails however. Our cocktails arrived and we put in our orders. The cocktails were well crafted and tasty but not weak. We enjoyed the atmosphere and each other's company while sipping our drinks. Our appetizers arrived swiftly, a pair of shrimp cocktails. 4 good sized and fresh shrimp nestled on a bed of chipped ice with cocktail sauce and lemon. A side of extra horseradish would have made it perfect but still an excellent start. Our meals arrived in a timely manner. I had chosen the 40 dat aged T-bone and my wife chose an 8oz filet. We both ordered mid rare. The sides we chose were baked potatoes each and creamed spinach and greens. Our steaks were just a shade on the blue side but extremely flavorful. A nice crust on each and generously dusted with a good spice mix. The potatoes were good sized and came with whipped butter and sour cream. The spinach was excellent. We decided against dessert. Our meals were very filling. We did note that other tables had popovers delivered and we didn't but we didn't miss them. Service was on point without feeling overbearing. I believe we will return in the near future.

It was between here and Home and I had been there before so we came here. It's the old Tiki bar across from the Mexican place. Same as tiki bar...small place. Not many tables and it was freezing inside so we moved out to the patio. Not much warmer....Whatsoever. There were doors open that didn't close properly and it was pouring outside. I said to myself it is what it is. Ordered the Insalada di Roma to start. Eh. Overpowering garlic taste. Got the lobster roll and man got the Thai Fighter Burger. My lobster was tasty as all lobster is. I can't do gluten and they don't offer gluten free buns so I just ate the lobster meat and fries. The butter on the lobster was very different. Thick. Corn buerre blanc sauce. I still don't know how I feel about it but to me lobster doesn't need a thick sauce on it. Also, it said MP on the menu upon arrival but online one menu said $34 and their actual website said $40. It was $52 tonight. Are you EFFING KIDDING ME?! Never in my life have I seen a lobster roll be $52. This place has no business charging that. We go out to eat all the time to very nice places and have never paid that. It wasn't even a large roll!!! Average. I went to use the bathroom and it had an Out of order sign on the door. I had to go so I used it anyway. Door didn't shut. Prayed no one would try to come in. My hair stinks hours later of fried food. Gross. For almost $200...would not come back.

Onto Yelp and we find Brazzas. 4-1/2 stars on 55 reviews - let's look. The place is nice, but unassuming. We walked up to the counter and the friendly lady and gentleman (I'd guess husband and wife) cheerfully took our order - a whole chicken dinner. We were told it would be about 15 minutes for a chicken to be ready and we agreed to wait. How can you complain about getting fresh food? We got our chicken that came with a salad with avocado and rice and beans. The beans were not your typical Latin beans. These were white beans that were not swimming in sauce. The salad was nothing special, but was fresh. The chicken was excellent! Well cooked, juicy and tasty. The green sauce for the chicken was terrific too, not too spicy as some tend to be.
