8/4/25: We were traveling back home on 95 and started to get hungry for lunch. Thanks to Yelp, this 5 Star "Turtle Cafe" just happened to be near by. This place is nothing fancy inside, but an ultimate hidden gem! We walked in and the small place was packed! The server said the food wait was a while. We didn't mind. It ended up being maybe 15 minutes. The three of us ordered: BLT Eggs Benedict, French Toast, English muffins and a fruit cup. All the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! There's only one short order cook. He does a one-man show cooking 4 to 5 meals (maybe more) at one time. It was incredible watching him. Overall, Customer Service was great. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. There's one very tiny restroom in the back of the restaurant. Regarding parking, we just grabbed a spot on the street. Looking forward to stopping back into the Turtle Cafe! read more

Fan-freaking-tasting! This place is absolutely amazing and a must go to for breakfast or brunch. I came here with my family while in town for a wedding. We sat outside and it was beautiful. We were seated pretty quickly and service was awesome. All but one of us ordered the lobster crepes. This is a must get entree. There is about a 1/2lb lobster chunks. The creative breakfast and lunch menu make Turtle Cafe special. The gf frittatas are amazing, especially the lobster or the Merlyn Farm veggie, the Portuguese, the Meat Lovers, all great! The clam hash is also unique and delicious - a nice break from the same old, same old. We like the sidewalk tables out front when the weather is nice or sitting at the old school counter, watching the culinary magic come together. This place is so cute, they had outdoor seating so we took advantage of the beautiful day! Looking over the menu they had so much to choose from....omletes, French toast, waffles, bagels, sandwiches and crepes so much more. I got the apple brulee french toast, my husband got a hot bowl of breakfast stuff it was fantastic , pictures included. Great Diner experience. They have Classic Diner staples, such as eggs any style, burgers, fries, and bottomless cups of coffee. However, they also have a great selection of Crepes as well. My heart was set on French toast, and I selected the berries and cream variety. (However, if I come back here, I'm absolutely getting there Apple French toast, which features slice apples torched atop The Stuffed French toast, with a healthy serving of whipped creams, and a drizzle of caramel!) On this visit, we also had some classics, such as corned beef hash topped with sunny side of eggs, locks on a bagel, smoked salmon crepes, and omelette with four toppings. Everything we had was tasty and made exactly to our specifications. Overall, friendly service, and quick! Just know ahead of time that there might be a wait, as this place is tiny. Additionally, use the bathroom before going here, I didn't see any signage for restroom facilities, but according to reviews you have to walk through the back half of the kitchen, and it is extremely tight. While there is some outdoor seating, don't expect to sit inside if have a stroller or mobility devices. read more

Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. Service was slow but I'm sure due to them being very busy. The coffee was not very good but the food was delicious. We had French toast and an omelette. We sat outside and it was pleasant, we didn't experience the inside as we preferred the cool fall day soaked in the sun. What a hidden gem! A cozy little hole-in-the-wall that's absolutely worth the visit. The space is compact, with only 6-8 tables, but there's also plenty of bar top seating and an outdoor area. Today, the inside was packed, and we were lucky to grab the last available table. Breakfast came out quickly, piping hot, and was incredibly satisfying. Loved Turtle Cafe as the menu was extensive and there were also interesting specials for brunch. I had the Shaksuka which was incredibly tasty! Visited an outlet mall in southern Connecticut and saw the Turtle Cafe food truck. The menu was great, had a tough time choosing between the smash burger & their bacon wrap, chose the wrap and was not disappointed at all. Driving on I 95 and looking for a place for brunch we found turtle cafe on Yelp and since it had great reviews we thought we'd stop by. Was the right choice. A lil gem less than a min from the highway. Not very fancy but quaint. Friendly staff and quite clean. Lea was very friendly and went out of her way. Menu was amazing n was a tough choice as to what to pick as everything looked yummy. Finally We decided on the mushroom crepes, Singapore wrap and Louisiana wrap but they were kind enough to make it into a crepe. The were all generous portions n yummy. Ok here we go! It's a small charming (little) cafe with six tables of four with twelve bar stools. Rest room is thru the kitchen to the left. It's a small joint (hole in the wall vibe) Let's go...the menu selections are creative with the worn out paper menus, specials hand written on the board. Chef is two feet away, right in front of the bar stools whipping up everything that's ordered. (Did I mention that it's small and charming?) Ordered the "famous" Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, wheat toast and coffee. I asked Kirk (my server) if the CBH was fresh and homemade and not any of that canned stuff, "oh yes, we make our own Corned Beef Hash" was his quick quip! My order came to the table, (right away I recognized it was the canned variety) and was sooooooo disappointed!!! I did ask prior, because the CBH is one of my favorite breakfast items, and gave it a try. NO BUENO!!! The only thing they did was to add diced onions; period and point blank done. It was very crispy and dark and..... Wheat toast was wheat toast and the fried eggs, over well break the yolk was eggs. I really did not enjoy this experience. DISAPPOINTED. Coffee was hot. Perhaps when I'm in the area again, I may stop by and try something different-doubt it thou. I will rate this breakfast .025 out of 5 stars! If I had not inquired prior to ordering it may be different! I was looking to freshly cooked, homemade, well seasoned delicious CBH with brunoise potatoes in the mixture. We missed our train and decided to get breakfast while waiting for the next one, gave Turtle Cafe a try. We loved the local casual diner feel and the option of counter seating. Service was friendly and attentive. The chicken and mushroom crepe was delicious and a very generous portion. The hash and eggs were also delicious, with over medium eggs cooked perfectly and also a generous portion. We loved that the offerings include more creative options such as lobster crepe, beautifully prepared crepes both sweet or savory, professionally prepared and beautifully presented as well as classic breakfast favorites. Spent a bit of time with some friends in CT. We all happen to be "breakfast people" (it's not a horror movie, I promise). I will cut to the chase. We were staying at upper-end resort, and went here on the recommendation of some friends. The place looks like a luncheonette from the 50's. I was expecting someone to sing the theme from Chock Full O'Nuts, with Cora pouring a cup of coffee. While it is nothing spectacular to look at, the breadth of the menu selections are incredible. I had the Smoked Salmon Frittata. Two days in a row. While the menu offerings are vast, including specials like Lobster Frittata etc., this entree was incredibly good. It had goat cheese smoked salmon, with spinach as a base. Crazy good. Others had their s'mores with Nutella, toasted marshmallows and strawberries. Not sure what the strawberries were doing there, but you have to make it healthy. Others in my group had their hash, eggs, and pancakes. Incredibly good. The portions are huge. Service was good, and timely, despite the fact that they were extremely busy. If you are looking for ambiance, this ain't it. However, if you want a great food experience, it is more than worth going there if you are in the CT area. read more

This deserves way more than the 4.5 stars it has. It's a solid 5. We got the Nutella waffle and the corned beef omelet and we were so impressed. My husband has not stopped talking about the efficiency of the cooks, and how seamlessly they worked together and hustled. The cafe has a diner feel with old school vibe. Small inside. Which was nice. They have crayons and games for kids to use. Which was great with a 2 year old. I got a lobster omelette with spinach and home fries. Which was very good about $20. I also ordered a Hawaiian Belgium waffle for about $13 which has fresh bananas and pineapple with a mango puree. Favorite part of vacationing at CT shore ! Always sit at the bar to watch Ricky cook - amazing what he can do in that small space ! Went two out of three days and got the same thing twice since it was so good- the southwest frittata which has chorizo, chicken, green peppers, etc Love how connected the owner is to the regulars calling them by name, discussing their lives and families etc. Need to try a sweet breakfast sometime but I can't stop myself from all the other choices!! read more

The crepes with fruit were to die for, the location not so much. As a plus-size gal (size 16) the aisles/booths/bathrooms were tiny! Not ADA friendly but a lot of older historic places don't have to be. If you don't mind squishing in the food is worth the inconvenience. read more
