We always wanted to try this place but aren't downtown Seattle that often. They have been in that location for 35 years- that says a lot! We stopped at their beautiful bar for a drink & a small bite while we waited for our friends- the bartender was wonderful- telling us about the restaurant & the history & he'd been there 11years! My husband & I shared the seafood of the day dish that was amazing prawns with zucchini & fennel in a spicy tomato sauce over polenta-yum! Our drinks were delicious as well- a generous pour of Sauvignon Blanc, a vodka soda & a delicious martini with blue cheese stuffed olives! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with an upstairs room for private parties. We'll definitely be back!
Tulio has been around for decades, an institution despite the building changing hands; the building is currently the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Seattle. Through it all, it remains the destination for some diners. On the day we went, a large party of locals and regulars were having a birthday bash. As much as I enjoy new dining experiences, I also appreciate the old timeless locales which Tulio is with their dark wood furnishings, lower ceilings, and cozy tables. We wisely made a reservation and were seated by the bar with a window. Our server clearly has been with the business for a long time. The first thing he asked was if we have a show at the 5th (Avenue Theater) to ensure we finish on time, which we did. With the big group, he wanted our orders to be ahead of that table. Nice. The Food: Cured Steelhead, $17 - 4.5 Stars Menu: fennel crema, giardiniera, crostini I always ask for recommendations, and this was one of his recommended ones. For the seafood lovers, this is a top choice. The steelhead had excellent cured flavor and not slimy. The sauce is excellent. The only thing odd is 4 pieces of crostini for the 6 pieces of steelhead. They should match. Bread Service, $10 - 5 Stars Menu: house made focaccia, corto olive oil, butter, maldon sea salt, ken's pickles If a restaurant is charging for bread service, then make the bread special and in house like Tulio, not because you bought a loaf from Macrina or Grand Central. The sides of olive oil, butter are spot-on, too. Lamb Shank, $39 - 5 Stars Menu: mint, barrel aged feta, creamy polenta, lamb demi This lamb shank is one of their signature dishes and perpetually available. Their preparation yielded an impeccably tender lamb shank with lamb meat that falls off the bone easily with the fork. Delicious. Halibut - 3 Stars This is their fish of the day at market price. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was about $55. I know fish can be spendy, but this was not worth the money given the small size. Maybe 5 oz before cooking. The fish was good; the veggies were oily and overcooked. I will not order their fish again.
The service was very attentive and fantastic. The food was all delicious, though the steak special was quite expensive and we were a bit surprised with the cost in the check, but my husband said it was the best steak he'd had in a really long time. My pasta was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was pretty romantic and fancy with some classic decor. It felt a little gatsby for vibes. We would love to come back and highly recommend!
If you're tossing around the idea of going here the answer is 100% yes. Their menu is small but they more than make up for that in the quality of their food. I was staying in the hotel and ate here for lunch and breakfast. Here are my takeaways. Breakfast: eggs are eggs and bacon is bacon but they showed out with those rosemary potatoes! They were absolutely perfect. Perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned. I was just sad there wasn't more of them. The coffee they serve is also very good. It's smooth and not the least bit bitter. Lunch: I had the Orecchiette pasta and it blew my socks off. The presentation was elegant and the flavor was so robust. It was absolutely delish. I also had the Budino dessert. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal. The interior is cute and I love the staircase. The staff is also really nice and they love to give recommendations on things to do and see.
Best breakfast of our entire vacation. The mushroom and goat cheese omelet was delicious. My French toast was exquisite. My husband had the steel oats and even that was great. The service was great. Gladys our waitress was superb. We will come again when we visit Seattle. Very nice ambiance. Very clean. Music playing so nice and not loud.
This restaurant is located inside the Kimpton Vintage hotel we were staying in . It's considered an Upscale Italian Restaurant. Gladis was our server. She was friendly. We decided to have Sunday Brunch here and it did not exceed its reputation. Restaurant was well lit and spacious. Water served with no ice and looked like dish water . Brunch menu in my opinion was not considered brunch items but overpriced plate options. All drinks were ala carte and overpriced as well. I chose the Tulio breakfast which consisted of two eggs, herb potatoes, bacon or sausage and hard sour dough bread. Service was very slow and they must have had one cook that was overwhelmed considering no one was eating for awhile . Food came out semi warm and just ok. I expected better for the prices. On a good note coffee was hot. This visit was definitely a 4/10!
Tulio's was our lunch choice before an afternoon theater performance because it's in easy walking distance of the two largest downtown theaters. I would recommend reservations because even though it was midday in the middle of the week, it was fullish. Our party of three had the papardelle ragu, orchiette and chicken budino. All tasty. Pasta was Al dente. Presentation lovely. Plus a bread plate which was delicious! I loved the little dish of pickles. Saw some kvetches about them in another review. Wrapped up with the olive oil cake for a birthday sweet. I am not a dessert fan but I'll have to say this was tasty! Gladys took good care of our table. Swooping in at just the right moment to replace a dropped fork (oops!), refill waters, etc. Loved the warm wood interior and festive decoration (we visited in December.) I believe this will be our go to before our next theater visit!
We recently dined at Tulio in downtown Seattle and had a pretty solid experience overall. We started with the focaccia bread and burrata with salad--both were fresh and really enjoyable. The truffle pasta was definitely a highlight, rich and flavorful without being too heavy. The Caesar salad, unfortunately, didn't quite hit the mark for us--it was the only dish we wouldn't order again. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server, Sanji, was extremely nice and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Great service can honestly save anything, and in this case, it elevated the meal.
The Tulio restaurant is downstairs at the hotel where I stayed. The decor is old-fashioned and elegant. I ordered the Orecchiette for $28. The pasta was perfect and tasty. My friend's pasta with spicy sausage and tomato sauce parmigiano reggiano was also very good. The server was very nice.
My mom and I stayed at the Vintage hotel the last two nights and departed this morning but not before a very yummy meal from Tulio. We have both been here before and it's been an ok visit but today was just lovely. Gladdys was our server and she was so friendly, quick, and helped me pick out a phenomenal meal. I love savory food and while we were there early for breakfast, their brunch menu also had savory and Gladdys was not wrong with the recommendation of the tagliatelle as I love mussels. The pasta was clearly fresh and so so yummy. It was also my mom's birthday breakfast, as the visit to Seattle was to celebrate her and Gladdys brought out a delicious chocolate mousse and candle for my mom to blow out. Lovely meal, included a photo of the tagliatelle below. Thank you Tulio! And you've got a keeper with Gladdys!
The atmosphere of Tulio is welcoming and I enjoyed the decor. Staff here I found to be very friendly and helpful. Tonight I opted for the Halibut on special. For $60 I would expect it to be properly seasoned and flakey. I don't remember having such a tough bland piece of fish in my lifetime. I was given a steak knife to cut it which I thought was interesting until I started to eat my halibut. I've never had a piece I couldn't cut with my fork easily. I don't mind paying for an exceptional meal and this was airport quality at best in my opinion. Moving over to the vegetable side of the plate the potatoes were interesting and not in a good way. Not sure how Tulio has a 4 star rating on Yelp. Perhaps I caught them on an off day. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience the only thing here worth the visit is the service. It's unfortunate the kitchen doesn't match the service
We are in Seattle for the weekend and facing a creeping jet lag, opted to dine at the bar! Tulio is close to the Lotte Hotel where we are staying (highly rec!) and has a warm, slightly dark and cozy Italian vibe. We shared three dishes and enjoyed them all. The creamy citrus vinaigrette on the arugula salad was perfect; the size is plenty for four to share! The burrata was creamy and the figs were a nice accent. The roast chicken was the star, with perfect skin; the lemon risotto was a nice complement. Lovely casual spot.
We came for dinner before a concert. The restaurant's atmosphere takes you away from the city outside. Plenty of old charm. The valet service is top notch. I'll look forward to my next meal at this restaurant. Hopefully I'll have room for dinner next time.

Perhaps it is true that familiarity breeds contempt because, after our first breakfast at Tulio, I would have given Tulio a 4. But we ate four breakfasts here as well as three dinners. It's now down to a 3; meaning, average. Let me start by stating that not one waitress (breakfast) or waiter (dinner), or the Bartender, introduced themselves. We asked one waiter (Shawn) his name; and we asked the Bartender (Leah) her name. No one told us their names. I do like the Matre D. On one occasion, he told us which three tables he had available and let us chose. Another evening, he set a professional basketball player and her friend next to us. That was kind of cool. The restaurant is pleasantly dark, lots of wood, very traditional and warm. Love the interior. However, getting in and out of the booths (which we did twice at breakfast) is hard; especially getting out of them. We then started asking for a table for breakfast. We had stuff to spread out, literature for planning our day. Even though four-tops were available, we were always seated at two-tops which didn't give us room to plan our day. First breakfast: Hubby had the Waffle with fresh fruit, syrup, a compote and whipped cream. He doesn't like compote or whipped cream; he wants syrup on his Waffle. It's Italian syrup, so way too sweet for his taste. Several days later, I ordered the Waffle and used the compote which I loved as well as a wee bit of whipped cream, which was delicious. In my case, I also ordered bacon, "crispy, please." The bacon was prepared "crispy," as I had asked. First breakfast: I had the Frittata which was topped with dollops of Goat Cheese. It was good. The OJ is $5. I guess that is typical of restaurants but the first breakfast was the first and last time we ordered juice. After that, we swallowed our pills with water. I never have more than a few swallows of coffee, so I brought my own coffee in from the Hotel Lobby. Why pay $5 for half a cup of coffee? Speaking of water: It is served without asking in all of the Seattle restaurants we visited; and, of course, served without straws. I have a problem with that, because I don't believe that all restaurants get their glasses germ-free; I don't believe the water gets hot enough to sanitize. Just saying. Second breakfast: My husband wasn't very hungry, so he ordered the Cinnamon Roll. It wasn't warm and the icing had congealed. I had the Waffle and bacon and was very happy. Third breakfast: We knew we would be out in the wet and rain all day, so we both had Oatmeal. I was surprised it wasn't served with milk. The next day, I ordered Oatmeal again. Different waitress; this one offered milk. We split a Fruit Plate. Fourth breakfast: By now we were so tired of their limited breakfast menu, we could scream. Fortunately, I rode the elevator with a hotel guest who was carrying two cups of coffee in a tray and a bag of pastries. The next morning, we walked just one block to Vovito where we had tasty, warm Turkey & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches and good coffee. We spent $20 on breakfast at Vovito's instead of $40 at Tulio. Tulio adds a 5% surcharge to their bills. Hubby didn't notice it when he paid for our first breakfast. I noticed it later. After that, I took care of the bills. I tipped 15% consistently, instead of 20%. In Seattle, check your restaurant bills to see if you're being charged any or all of the gratuity. We dined at two restaurants that add 20% BUT they are clear about it, and say that the wait staff do not expect more. Tulio is sneakier. They make it sound as if it's in accordance with a law to provide a higher minimum wage, but that actually isn't the case at all. First dinner: We shared the Gnocchi appetizer. The Gnocchis are stuft with Sweet Potatoes and then lightly pan-fried. They were surprisingly good. I had Linguini with Clams. Couldn't see any linguini because there were so many clams. I did eventually get down to the Linguini, at which time I requested cheese. They don't shave the cheese at your table; they spoon already shredded cheese onto your food upon request. Second dinner: Bartender Leah is great at her job. One evening we just sat at the bar. We wanted some food to soak up the liquor but found their Appetizer Menu to be sorely lacking. When I told Leah there was nothing on it that suited, she offered to put together an antipasto plate. We accepted. We had drinks, the antipasto plate and one slice of Tiramisu. Our bill came to $145!!! Yikes! Third dinner: My husband had Mussells and thoroughly enjoyed them; the best Mussels he's ever had. I had Pumpkin Soup. It was okay. I've had better. (Five Spice Pumpkin Soup at the historic Panamonte Inn in Boquete, Panamá.) Dinners are served with Foccacia, but the bread is bland bland bland. We eat Foccacia at home frequently, but what we buy from Trader Joe's is tasty. This was so bland that it was "one and done." read more
Tulio reminds me a lot of old Italian restaurants on the East Coast - great use of wood, moulding, and quality materials while being a bit more 'buttoned up' than most restaurants in Seattle (even the 'fancier' ones). We went for lunch on a Friday and while they were full, they were able to seat us in the bar. Service was prompt and friendly. We were almost immediately served four slices of soft bread with olive oil for dipping. We ordered two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, and I ordered the agnolotti and my co-worker ordered risotto. The food came out remarkably fast, and the agnolotti - OMG! YUM! At first, the use of lemon was a little overpowering in this creamy dish, but when paired with the cheese inside of the pasta, it was balanced very nicely. My co-worker enjoyed his risotto and we happily drank the sauv blanc (which was good, but a bit pricey per glass). The environment here would make for a great place to bring someone when feeling a bit more upscale, or if you're on a date. The food was delicious, and I'm looking forward to going back and trying the full dinner menu. read more

Great service, amazing food, perfect atmosphere. Perfect place to take someone on a date - we actually saw a lot of couples come in on their first dates tonight. We made a reservation with a booth at 7, and they were super accommodating. Our booth was decked out with two beautiful pink roses and faced the rest of the first floor of the restaurant. Our waiter, Ricardo, was excellent and knowledgeable about all the seafood and ingredients in the meals. He treated us to a sample of Gorgonzola & prosciutto for our anniversary and strawberry ice cream on the house. We started off with mussels in a succulent broth (the best I've ever had), followed by chicken risotto, clam linguine, and topped it off with their tiramisu. I do wish their linguine had a little more flavor because I'm used to eating asian food most of the time, but they deserve 5 stars nonetheless. We absolutely cannot wait to come back. read more
A group of four stopped in here for a quick breakfast before hitting the Pride Parade. If I'm being honest, the only reason we stopped into Tulio's was because they were one of the only places open in the early morning hours. Discover is an accepted form of payment. My bestie and I each ordered a red beer (Bud Light and tomato juice) for $8 each: $6 for the beer and $2 for the tomato juice. My daughter ordered the Tulio Bloody Mary for $10. We were actually charged $10.25 for the Bloody Mary. When I brought this discrepancy to our servers attention, he removed the up-charge with a flimsy excuse of "the computer had the wrong price". My daughter requested Tabasco sauce for her Mary and was told Tabasco wasn't stocked. She then requested Tulio's house hot sauce - which never came. One of the four water glasses had lipstick stains on the rim. Our server stated that he would let the dishwasher know for future cleanings. We were never offered water refills. My bestie and I shared the Breakfast Sandwich for $12: eggs over-easy, spicy coppa, mozzarella, arugula and mama lil peppers served on a Ciabatta roll. Our sandwich also came with roasted baby red potatoes and fresh fruit. We each thought our breakfast choice was yummy. Our kids shared the Home-Made Biscuits for $15: Spicy Italian sausage gravy and two cage eggs any style. They also thought their breakfast was tasty. Tulio's adds a 5% surcharge to each bill to support Seattle's minimum wage act, which I find annoying. I prefer to decide where my hard-earned money should go. I had eaten at Tulio a few times, most recently before a Seahawks game. It is a nice, classic Italian place. For brunch, they had both breakfast items and pasta. I ordered the Orecchiette, which is spicy Italian sausage with pasta. The portion size was not big, but the pasta was really nice and I liked the sausage--very authentic tasting. Others ordered traditional breakfast items and liked them. Service was kind of mixed. They took awhile to get our orders and then they were not great about refreshing our drinks, but the food came out quickly after it was ordered. Most restaurants seem to get slammed before games, but the staff seemed particularly stressed. Tulio is a great place for dinner and they have a great wine list. read more

I came here for a business dinner. Tulio it is at a great location as it is right next to the Seattle Public library, the W Seattle, and the Fairmont. The herb bread was awesome. For drinks, I ordered the lavender Lemon Tini. It was delicious. For food, I ordered the prosciutto wrapped asparagus as an appetizer and orecchiette for entree. The white asparagus and duck egg was an adventure. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The pasta was simple yet comforting. I especially loved the spicy Italian sausage. Nothing too crazy. Just a good time. Probably not worth a special trip into town. But if you are close by, why not. read more

I can not recommend this spot to anyone. We tried to appetizers, the burrata and the asparagus and both were not good. The asparagus was very crunchy and tasteless, we left most on the plate. We tried the squid ink pasta and another red sauce based one. The pastas were bland, and unfulfilling. We boxed our food to go, and I went to subway right afterward, and honestly it was better. If you want good Italian, I suggest Alturo in Capitol Hill. read more

Tulio still has it! Dont sleep on a Seattle classic. The food here is delicious. Whatever you order is just the way I remember prior to pandemic. If there is one thing you have to get , just one well that would have to be the gnocchi. Dang its so pillowy soft and the brown butter sauce thing that accents the pillows is so irresistible . Shank is so tender I cant help get it every time. Service is the best, attentive and full of class. Support local , yes please Tulio has been around and survived the pandemic . Came for brunch after friends recommendation. Thoroughly disappointed. Pasta was mediocre, brunch menu was subpar, service felt rushed. I substituted sausage for veggies in my pasta dish and what veggies?! Lol it was very laughable. Please tell me if you see any veggies in the red sauce pasta dish. There were tiny onions and 3 mushrooms. No offer of pepper or grated cheese. Isn't that standard? In conclusion, everything was mediocre. Would not recommend and will not come back. You know that feeling when you go to a restaurant and you go through immediate feelings of regret because you dont want to eat the food, but it feels like a waste of money? read more

DO NOT ORDER THE HALIBUT!!! Because I want to make sure this still a piece for me next time I return!!! Was here a couple weeks ago and upon bartenders recommendation I ordered this for dinner and it did not disappoint. One of the best fish dishes I've ever enjoyed! Me and older bro popped in here for some lunch. It feels like a perfect place to dive into during a stormy, blustery, and cold winter evening. It felt upscale, modern, and pleasant all together. I had me a Chicken Salad, which is nice. Without the pine nuts, it probably would've been an okay salad, but those made it great for me. We've been passing by Tulio everyday on our way to work and finally had the pleasure to visit this establishment due to the proximity of the hotel we stayed in. We were only looking to have a nightcap so we sat at the bar and had the Finocchio Negroni cocktail. What a special concoction this was made with Fords gin, fennel campari, cynar, china china and orange bitters. It was so delicious I had two of them served by the most hospitable bartender named Leah. Another person in our party ordered the chicken. It was roasted with caramelized garlic and sage and served on lemon risotto. That is definitely on our list for the next time we visit and we are also looking forward to having brunch. Maybe we'll have the hand made biscuits and /or the handmade cinnamon roll. Can't wait! read more
