This should not take very long because I waited for a table longer than it took to leave after receiving my meal. If a place with "Burger" in their name cannot properly cook a medium-well hamburger, there is something terribly wrong. I had high hopes when I found a burger place that serves grass-fed beef and it happened to be just down the street from where I was staying. The place was packed on a Friday night a bit after 6pm, another positive sign. Oh boy, was I in for a treat ... NOT! When I saw that they had a house margarita for $5, I was even more enthused, but wait, things went downhill quickly after drinking about half of my margarita, which was pretty good by the way. I ordered a 1/2 pound Angus beef burger, medium-well, with sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and herb mayo on a brioche bun ($9.95), adding bacon, sauteed onions, and avocado ($1 each). Fries do not come with their sandwiches or burgers, so I thought I would try a side of their Skinny Fries ($2.99) as well. When my burger arrived, I was quite impressed, it looked delicious. The brioche bun was perfectly toasted, the burger patty thick, and the contents I ordered piled so high that I was wondering how I would shove it into my piehole. The first bite was pretty good, the burger was a little more pink on the edges than I expected for a medium-well burger, but I thought "what the hell" and took another couple bites. As I got closer to the center it was obvious that this burger was much closer to medium-rare or rare than medium-well, it was nearly raw in the middle. My stomach turned because there is a reason they put warnings on menus: "WARNING: Eating uncooked or undercooked beef can be hazardous to your health!". I do not give a shit what Gordon Ramsey says, I do not eat uncooked or undercooked beef, not until tonight at least. The poor waitress came back and asked me how my meal was and when I showed her my uncooked/undercooked burger, she apologized profusely. She asked me if she could take it back and cook it longer, meaning "nuke-it", or if I wanted something else, but my this time I had lost my appetite and asked for the bill. The manager also came by to apologize and took the burger and fries ($15.94) off my bill, but they lost a customer by letting me walk out the door without so much as comping my margarita or offering me a free or 50% off meal the next time I came in. I NEVER tell establishments when I visit that I am a food and travel writer with a popular website (80,000+ visitors a year) in addition to being Yelp GOLD Elite for 6 years running and a Zomato "Verified" Connoisseur. I, obviously, also have never accepted a single gratuity in exchange for a meal, hotel, play, or anything else I write reviews about because they have no idea who I am until I leave my card after paying the bill. If a place offers a free dessert, drink, or anything else because I am dissatisfied with my experience, I am more than happy to accept it because that is what good business owners and managers do, make amends to unhappy customers in hope that they will return again. Apple juice for the little one. The meal was amazing!! No, really. We tried to find something wrong and there wasn't and rbis time for desert we had the baked cookie with ice cream on it. Desiree the manager came out again and recognized us at the same time we recognized her and over tasty desert bites we talked about the earlier review and how appreciative she was (even though we weren't looking for acceptance or she knew we were about to write a follow-up). The waitress Peaches came back with the check and made sure we were taken care of and after paying made our way out by wheelbarrow - we were stuffed! So, round 2 of 3 and we were extremely pleased of the back to back service and food this place offered. Sometime in the next month we'll be back and give it the final whirl of our review process and if it passes, which I'm sure it will, then we'll be fixtures to the place like pieces of art hanging on the wall. We already love the food, drinks, service and locale... why not just accept it and love that Anthem has a staple restaurant to goto whenever you want an amazing burger, drink, or fun atmosphere? LOVE this place! The only reason I don't go more often is because they moved away from my area. I am absolutely crazy about the Bistro Burger. It has goat cheese, caramelized onions, basalmic... just amazing! In fact, I keep saying I will try something different there, and I never get around to it because I love that burger so much! The mask mandate was lifted in Arizona but I appreciated that the staff is still wearing masks and a sign is posted on the door asking that patrons to also do the same. My daughter attends one of very few public schools open FULL TIME in our area but if she so much as sniffles or sneezes, she will be sent home until you can provide a negative covid test. So, we are still being cautious so she can attend school without issue but enjoying all the indoor dining options while visiting the area. My daughter and I came in for lunch on Monday and enjoyed the following: Buffalo wings - my daugther loves wings but she doesn't like it with any sauce. They were kind enough to do 4 of the 8 wings with no sauce and 4 with the bbq. Tasty and a nice little treat before our meals arrived. This was probably the best item we ordered. Kids Mac n' cheese with a side of broccoli - Kraft Mac n' cheese and the kid loved it. She ate her entire side of broccoli so I'm sure there was some butter melted on it. Whenever a kid finishes veggies, it's a win so I will just take it. Chop Chop chicken salad - The portion of the salad was huge which was unexpected. I wish I had ordered the dressing on the side because they put more than I would prefer. They are generous with both the portions and their dressings so if you prefer light dressing, I'd suggest you ask for the dressing separately and toss it yourself. They had one available table and they decided that we should wait 15 minutes or longer before we were sat just in case they got a party of five or more. Also, the gentleman that we were dealing with when we called to complain to a manager you could hear him obviously talking poorly about us. I can't say enough great things about this small gourmet burger place . The first two things that come to mind are variety & quality. I've tried several things on the menu some of my favs are as follows: Chicken Sandwich tender & juicy (it doesn't hurt that all meat is hormone/antibiotic free). Bison burger (yes, bison really, really good) And the Cobb salad I usually get their ranch dressing (smooth & creamy). And their Hot Wings (fuego and meaty!) Lastly, the Happy Hour is pretty good but it does get noisy we usually choose the more quieter outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable on bar food and drafts even though we don't drink anything but drafts I do see a fair amount of margaritas and sangrias go out. Stopped in on a Sunday night, party of 5, for dinner. Ordered a couple of burgers, sweet potato fries and the Chop Chop salad. Confirmed with the server that the salad could be made gluten free. After what seemed like forever, our food finally arrived. The burgers were lukewarm, and the fries and the chicken on the salad were cold. The menu didn't mention won ton strips, but the GF salad was basically a bowl of cabbage covered in them. Just removed them and carried on because the service was so slow and we were getting tired. Really poor experience and explanation when ordering online. We ordered our family some food at 5:44 and at 6:15 when I arrived the order was cancelled. Literally was parking in the lot when I got the notification. When I came inside to ask why, they said "we don't take orders between 6p-8p bc we're so busy." This restaurant just can't get it right! For some unknown reason the cooks in the kitchen are highly incompetent and can't read tickets that include customer requests. For example, substitute romaine lettuce instead of the lettuce you normally use on the side salad. This apparently is too difficult for them. Same with differentiating blue cheese dressing from ranch, cooking a burger medium well not medium, adding or including extra sides of ranch with the zucchini fries. As you can see these are not major requests. It shouldn't be that difficult! But every time they blow it! I've had so many discussions with the manager that they don't even want to acknowledge the problems anymore and refuse to take my call when I call back to bring this to their attention. It's not fair when you pay good money and they can't follow simple directions. Even more pathetic is when you ask them to double check the order before it's picked up and they claim they do and they still get it wrong! The key is comparing the order against the ticket so you know what you're looking for and not eye balling it and think it looks good. Another important reason to verify against the ticket is to ensure all items in the order are in the bag so the customer doesn't leave and go all the home only to realize you forgot to give them several items in their order! Great Find right off the I-17 in Anthem. Fantastic menu with lots of options to satisfy whatever you are craving. We dropped in one evening as we were craving a good burger. Our server was Brooke, who had some excellent recommendations. I had the Green Chile Burger; my wife had the American Burger....both were excellent. We also tried the Fries, Sweet Potato fries, and the Zucchini Fries; all were tasty. You need to try the various dipping Sauces by getting the Sauce sampler; the Wasabi Ranch was great coupled with the Zucchini. Highly Recommended. Everything is a la carte so if you want fries you need to order those separately, however a serving of fries easily feeds 2, maybe even 3 so you can get a couple baskets for the table and call it good. Speaking of fries, I strongly recommend the garlic parmesan, they were delicious. We also enjoyed the avocado sticks and fried pickles as an app, another couple of winners. As far as burgers go, they were seasoned well, but a couple of us had sections of our bun that were too burned to eat so that was disappointing. I have ate a lot of burgers in my life and the best one I have had was at Tru Burger. I had one with goat cheese, bacon, and carmelized onions. It was delicious. I did not appreciate the undercooked bacon on it but my son likes his bacon that way and ate it for me. I did not like having to pay 3.95 for fries - they don't come with your burger automaticaly. I hate that so many restaurants are now doing this. It is a shameless cash grab. Service was just ok. I notified the waitress and she took the burger back to the kitchen. I received the same burger cut in half and noticed the edges were "browned" where I had cut the burger in half.
