We like coming to Trio for dinner, and we usually sit in the bar area. There is a good-sized parking lot where we've always been able to get a spot. It's right across from Kenwood Mall, so if you're hungry after shopping, come enjoy a meal here! There is a good selection of entrees, and they have a full bar. Our favorites are the grilled branzino and the meatloaf. The branzino always is perfectly cooked with a crispy skin, and it's served along fingerling potatoes and sautéed chard. I love the meatloaf!! The mashed potatoes are creamy, and the meatloaf is seasoned perfectly! I feel justified eating them because of the generous serving of haricots vert and carrots that are served along-side (haha!). I am so glad that I finally tried this restaurant. Heard good things over the years, but just didn't have the opportunity. I originally didn't include it in my list to visit during The Cincinnati Restaurant week '22. It was the last minute decision and reservation time was available. We tried chopped salad, salmon, lemon chicken, creme brulee, and tiramisu. Everything was good. I am very picky especially desserts because I'm all about food. I've been working in the Kenwood area for over a year now and I'm not sure how this was my first time trying Trio. First, the menu is huge and the options are and endless. Second, the service was great! Our server was very knowledgeable and kept our drinks filled the whole time. Lastly, the food was very fresh and tasteful. I ordered the club sandwich and soup. I was very satisfied with my meal. I would 100% get the same thing again as it was perfect for lunch. I'd love to go back and try one of their main entrées for dinner... And plan to do so in the near future. If you're looking for a place to take a group of people look no further. Such a wonderful experience starting as soon as we walked in the door. We were warmly welcomed by Sam and the other hostesses, sat promptly, and greeted with a welcoming smile from the server. The bread was warm and toasty, the pomegranate martini was fresh and crisp. The starter side salad was delicious, and the perfect size. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with a delicious peppery seasoning. We then decided to try the ricotta donut bites. They were so sweet and fresh. My wife and I stopped for dinner after shopping. Menu is seasonal with some items that stay the same. Pricing is higher than average but worth it. They serve fresh bread with clove butter and have very attentive servers. I ordered the rigatoni dish with chicken and it was nice and spicy!! Cons: restaurant was loud. I think it was a Thursday night and it was packed!! I felt like I was shouting. Their clientele is definitely upper middle class so I felt a little out of sorts. This is a nice place, the environment is upscale, location is right across Kenwood mall. Food is awesome. I have been here twice, first time, had lobster which is very fresh and cooked right. Today, had filet migon, I ordered medium rare, but it was a little over cooked to medium well. Still it is very tender. Alcohol selection is plenty, I had Cabernet and it was very savory. Trio Bistro is a wonderful crossover; comfortable and feeling slightly sophisticated at the same time. The menu has a wide range of styles and dishes, all well done. The service feels upscale, but not snobbish. It's the type of restaurant with meatloaf that is as well made as any "fancy" dish, while the fish or steaks are always perfectly made. The soups are not just a menu filler. My wife orders the onion soup whenever we eat there, but not elsewhere. The rest of the menu is just as well made. We made lunch reservations the morning of and got a table no problem! They were also understanding of us running a little behind our time. On our way to the table I saw that this place was really hopping - every table was absolutely full! This is obviously a popular mid-week lunch choice. I also saw that I was a tad under dressed. Oops! I assumed lunch would be a bit more casual. I'll be more prepared next time! We barely glanced and the menu and immediately knew what we wanted because we were all very hungry. Mom and Mr. M shared a sandwich and salad, hubby and I did the same. There was a bread basket with herb butter to distract us from our wait, but we didn't wait long! The salads and sandwiches were huge with a side that looked quite small in comparison - I really could've gone for more of those sweet potato fries! If you get a burger, definitely go for the one with goat cheese. Also, the Cobb Salad is not to be missed - lots of chicken, bacon and they let me swap bleu cheese in place of cheddar. Mom couldn't quite finish her meal, so she took it home for dinner. They brought out not only a box, but a paper bag to carry it out. This place left such a good impression on us all. This review is from the perspective of a group dinner before an interview. --- Atmosphere: They redid the private rooms, last year we had a huge board room size table which was horrible for dinners, made conversation so difficult. The decor was modern and they did have a TV in the room (though when off blends in with the wall) so if you wanted to have an NFL/basketball game on in the private area you certainly could. Honestly you can not go wrong here; if there is one thing Trio is, it is consistent. Consistently good service, consistently good food, consistently interesting menu. I've never had a bad meal here, but on this occasion I was eating healthy--a challenge sometimes, but my beet salad was quite possibly one of the tastiest things I've had in a long time. I never take the time to write reviews; however, I was so disappointed with the cost and quality of our Easter 'Brunch'. The food itself tasted good and the server was amazing, with that said. The Easter menu consisted of a so called 3 course meal... One course offered fruit cup, (the entree) Eggs/English muffin, and then the finale a plate for five to share 8 small bite size mediocre desserts and your drink was not included...wow! Now that is worth $26! I can get better any day of the week at Bob Evans! Two years ago I took my mom to brunch in Seattle that consisted of all you can eat Seafood, any Breakfast item made fresh in front of you, a myriad of other delicious items and a table with 20 plus desserts, with beverage included for $120. Trio's pathetic attempt cost $98. All I can say, if this is what these overpriced restaurants call Brunch, I will pass! read more

I had a luncheon reservation at 11:30 am today 12/1/23 to celebrate two friend's birthdays. I eat and order out food at Trio's often, but never again. Today when we got our checks, mine had only one receipt in it. I paid the amount in cash (2 x $10's and a $5 bill) and tipped more than 20% as I often do there. However, after taking the receipt with me for accounting purposes, when it was given back to me, which was mine to keep, a very rude older, grey-haired manager came out after us in the parking lot. We were right in front of the booths at the window so everyone could see him accost us. He accused us of not paying for our meal because we didn't leave a receipt in the check folder. This man is rude, always in a rush and has the balls to blame something on two friends that is clearly the fault of the restaurant and their servers. He asked me to prove I had paid by giving him my receipt and I refused! We will NEVER eat at this restaurant again. Nor, will we eat at the sister property Embers. I am now cancelling my son's birthday dinner at Embers in December and moving it to Hyde Park. I have spent thousands of dollars at Embers for company parties while I was working over the years. How rude an ungrateful this man was to us and the owners of this establishment! read more

The restaurant is lovely decorated to give a private, romantic, more adult feel. There is a good ratio of booth to table seating available. I personally am the No. 1 fan of booths.. nothing like comfort as I indulge in tasty morsels. We tried the pecan crusted goat cheese and balsamic salad - 4 of 5. The dish was very tasty, but i was disappointed to not really taste the pecan influence over the goat cheese : ( ! As entrees we had the Lobster special ~ 1.5lbs with red skin potatoes. The potatoes were super delish but the lobster was a little chewy. Overall not bad for not living off the coast :D Sides - French Onion soup: was good once my taste buds got over the initial shock that it does not taste like the Soupe à l'Oignon I had in Paris or Lyon, France. The Brandy + (?)give it a very sweet, almost tomato-like taste - which was a shock to me. Also, it was made with provolone and not Gruyère. I guess it would have helped to prepare myself had the menu stated - Trio specialty rendition or the like...because the ingredient change aside, I did enjoy the soup very much; I just had to look past the differences :D! read more

Trio is a throwback restaurant. It seems like a scene that would have been really hot in the 90s. So, yeah, I guess I'm saying it's dated, but in a good way. We've visited twice, and enjoyed it both times. Most recently, the waiter helped me customize a dish. I had scallops on the set up that was meant for the salmon. It was scallops on haricot verts, mushrooms, and red peppers, with ginger rice and a red curry peanut sauce. Yum! I came here with my boyfriend the other day for a nicer lunch and it was pretty good. We started out with some of the complimentary bread and butter. I loved that they had seasoned their butter to some extent (not sure what with - some type of green herb) and the bread was warm and ciabatta-like. We also got the meatballs as an appetizer and they were quite good. They were very tender and well-seasoned with some ricotta, shaved parmesan, basil, and Pomodoro sauce. It also had some thin slices of bread that were good to pair with the meatballs. I also got the Caesar salad and was very happy with it. It was perfectly dressed - not heavy at all - and had a generous portion of shaved parmesan on it. They did not have a lot of croutons also, which I tend to prefer. The waiter also brought pepper to crack fresh onto the salad, which was a nice touch. My boyfriend and I split the margarita flatbread and the truffle fries for our main. This may have just been an ordering thing on our end, but we didn't love the margarita flatbread. It was very messy, not very well-seasoned, and the tomato slices were very large especially for it being a flatbread. The truffle fries were okay - not the best in the world but I generally like truffle fries. The truffle just wasn't very well-distributed so only one or two of the fries tasted like truffle and it was pretty aggressive truffle. I probably wouldn't end up coming back here - the meatballs, bread, and salad were the best parts and the main was kind of a letdown after that. The atmosphere is also a little off because it feels almost weirdly quiet and echo-y for a mid-scale restaurant and not even in the way that a formal restaurant is - the vibes were just kind of weird. It wasn't necessarily a comfortable dining experience because of that. Seems like a lot of other people like it though based on the reviews, so maybe we just went on a weird day or something. read more

The complementary bread was freshly baked and hot from the oven, and the butter that they paired it with melted very nicely on the bun. I ordered the Moroccan Flat bread, it was very delicious! The fig that came on it was sweet and it complemented the saltiness for the rest. Had a chance to try the smoked salmon flat bread. It was also good, but the salmon had some what of a "fishy" taste, could have been the way it was prepared, but don't let that minor thing stop you from getting it, it was still very good. The portions weren't bad, and the prices were pretty standard for the flat breads.
