Very nice atmosphere. Friendly service, great menu, orders don't take long to come out, and it has a fully stocked bar. I went for lunch and enjoyed the pig and poultry sandwich with seasoned fries, which was really good. The French toast sundae is an awesome dessert. The draft beer is cold. I definitely recommend this place! read more

The best calamari I've ever had. They're salads and fried shrimp and catfish are outstanding!

Tasty meal and good portions. I enjoyed the fish sandwich (large portion) and my kids liked the burgers. 2nd visit with friends - The bar is fun for happy hour, but the drinks are pricey. There were a variety of seasonal drinks. read more

I highly recommend the tricky fish dish with blackened mahi mahi or the blackened red fish. I've gotten the dish several times, they consistently make it well. read more

I have been here a couple times since they opened, the food itself is very good! When I took my family here some of the dishes were a hit- but some were a miss. It is a little pricey, and I will admit I got the fried fish, which was wonderful. Something that really stands out here is the waitresses and waiters hold the doors open for you when you come and go, literally every time. The only thing I would change is maybe to lower prices, or add a little variation to the menu. read more

We went there for brunch and they offer a nice selection of both seafood and breakfast plates on the menu. Praline Pancakes were out of this world good...loved the whisky berry sauce and orange cream butter on top of the pancakes. You can't go wrong with the Fish & Chips...very delish! read more

Food was pretty good. I'm from the seafood state of Maryland. So I guess I'm kinda hard to please in that area when I'm in another state. However, the food is good and and the service is fast. I have been here twice. read more

So we tried Tricky Fish because the delicious smells coming from that place were great but our dining experience was lack luster for sure ordered beer battered fish and shrimp which smelled and tasted like old dirty fried fair food server was all But absent and when told things were not right said sorry and walked away !! As a chef and corporate trainer for quite a few companies I was super underwhelmed the veggies were over cooked on another order and bland grilled fish calamari appetizer was rubbery and greasy Sorry but really not sorry for your lack Of care and service!!the best service was the hostess !!! read more

First time here with my husband. Staff was very friendly. They told us their faves and the best ones on the menu. Food was DELICIOUS! I'm a mule drink person, so really was excited to see a little variety. We came Saturday afternoon and it was not busy, very calm and our food was brought out in a timely manner. Definitely would recommend this place. read more

Just had oysters 1/2 shell and calamari , both were excellent . Great location and easy parking . Service was excellent at the bar .

We ate here when they first opened, we loved the beer battered Cod, salads and the wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. We liked the City Line location and a fun place to entertain other friends. Just recently we noticed a little difference in the quality. read more

All I can say is yum. I took my Dad here for his Birthday based on Yelp reviews and were they spot on. We ordered bloody Mary's to start and the presentation was beautiful and delicious. I ordered the fish and chips and I was surprised with how much food you get. It came with two battered filets, fries and coleslaw. The tarter sauce was the best I have ever had. My father ordered catfish, fried oysters and gumbo. He was in heaven. His only complaint was the catfish wasn't crunchy. Otherwise, he said it was the best seafood in town. I agree and we will be back very soon. read more

The menu isn't huge. At first we thought it was really constricting. We ended up getting calamari, lemon pepper shrimp tacos, fish and chips, and Mac and cheese with chicken. The fish and chips has beer battered fish which definitely comes through in the flavor and it was delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the lemon pepper shrimp tacos only because I didn't like the sauce that was on it (personal opinion, not a dig at the chef). The Mac and cheese.. OMG, the Mac and cheese. You have to try the Mac and cheese. It was by far the best Mac and cheese we've ever had at a restaurant!! Our server was cool, she didn't bother us too much which was awesome. The staff is friendly. Will definitely be going again. read more

?????????? Is how I feel right now. We ordered gumbo, the Tricky Fish, and a fried oyster po' boy. Service is not great- the guy came to ask for our drink orders and give us a couple minutes more to look at the menu- and then we never saw him again lol so someone else took our order. Our food came out looking good so I was excited. But several bites into the Tricky Fish dish I got super tired of eating it because it's severely underseasoned. The fish has close to 0 salt and the crawfish etouffe is almost saltless. Blackened fish is usually remarkable because of the seasoning, no?? I'm all for being healthier but this is unpalatable. Messing up on seasoning is unforgivable in my book, unfortunately. On top of that, they don't have salt and pepper at the table so I couldn't even fix it myself. The gumbo has a good amount of seafood but is underseasoned as well. The po' boy was way too sweet for my palate but it was definitely more stimulating. I've pushed my dish to the side and written this whole review before the server noticed to bring us the check. Sigh. They earned back a star because they seemed apologetic and took the Tricky fish off our tab. read more

Food was good, but the waiter messed up orders, spilled a plate on one guest and they never even offered to comp or make better on any issue. Felt like they over charged our large group drinks. Poor customer service. read more

We had the absolute best date night at Tricky Fish! The restaurant itself is cute, the staff are SO friendly, and our meals were delicious! Remember the movie, The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY? Well, the Yelp Version is known as the GOOD, the GREAT and the MEH. Let's start with the GOOD: Great interior with high ceilings and open concept layout. Friendly host/hostesses who quickly tend to you. Good seasoned fries. Then the GREAT: Fantastic service from our waitress Bailey. Amazingly fresh-tasting calamari. Awesome Mac n Cheese. Scrumptious French Toast dessert. Excellent boutique-label fountain sodas. And the MEH: Fish n Chips just ok. Salmon dinner had small portion for $17. Tricky Fish signature dish was nothing special. No kids menu?! We had fun though and will be back to try some different dishes. Hopefully, a kids menu is on the horizon. read more

My friend and I tried this place out for lunch. We were able to sit immediately; it wasn't too packed but there was a crowd. I ordered the fish sandwich with no bacon jam- I don't eat pork. I was surprised, it was really good. The fish was not over cooked and did not taste like old grease. The dish comes with coleslaw. I am very picky when it comes to coleslaw; however it was a great with the sandwich. The portion size of the dish was a lot for me but over all I was pleased. Overall I have a good experience during my visit. The establishment was clean and the server/bartender was friendly & knowledgable. I would recommend this place. read more

I hosted my birthday brunch here for 15 guests. The manager, waitstaff and bartender were very friendly and helpful. My tables were quickly assembled and the mimosa bar at our table was set up and refreshed without asking. Our waitress managed the orders and drinks without any challenge. We had a great time. The food was great as well. Everyone had compliments about their entrees. The team also gave me a birthday card signed by everyone with a coupon for my next visit. Some of the best calamari I've had has came from this restaurant, the tomato sauce they give you to dip the calamari in is so addictive. Ok I guess but if you really like American Catfish instead of the Vietnamese SWAI that a lot of these restaurants pass off as US farm raised catfish then beware. I don't care how you cook it or prepare it it has a rubbery texture. Do your research people that fish isn't even allowed to be sold in the state of Louisiana. https://www.ajot.com/news/three-states-ban-seafood-imported-from-vietnam Texas needs to catch up or restaurants need to stop being cheap, and sell real catfish or how about stop marketing it as catfish. Oh and three stars were actually for the margaritas and not the catfish! read more

Clean, food is good. Crawfish étouffée is awesome, fried okra is great. Best thing is the fried green tomatoes that have fried shrimp and remoulade sauce- they used to do a full shrimp and now only 1/3 of one. read more

I felt this place was a little overkill. Way too expensive and a little too over the top for my taste. The fried okra was literally deep fried slotted okra which frankly just doesn't cut it as fried okra. I think if you are trying to be gourmet then it should probably explain exactly what their idea of it is. All in all it was ok, but just a little too over the top for my liking. read more

Tricky Fish was phenomenal! The shrimp tacos were seasoned well but needed a little more shrimp and less filling. The gumbo was on point and oyster BLT was delish, but I HAVE to tell you about the bread pudding dessert. It was slightly crispy on the outside with a perfectly soft center. Which paired wonderfully with the vanilla ice cream and drizzled on top was heaven.... a peach bourbon sauce.. this made the dessert. I could have bathed in the stuff! read more

Recommend you try tricky fish. Hubby and I had lunch on Friday. Service great. The left side of restaurant is full service which is where we sat. The right side is not. Nice cozy booth for two at the window by the bar. Crawfish ettouffee was delicious. Hubby had the catfish and shrimp with fries. Very good too. Parking is a challenge as not a lot of spaces. However we spotted parking garage when we left. read more
