The food and service were amazing. Our family definitely felt welcomed even though there were 10 of us, 4 of which were little kids! The nice young lady who helped us was always pleasant and composed. The manager was friendly and brought out food and drinks too so the waitstaff could manage a busy lunch hour. Everything was delicious! The place is clean too. Thank you for an awesome dining experience, Tricky Fish! read more

Cute place. Pi boy was meh. Lots of bread but more like fluffy sub bread than po boy bread that is crispy. The fried oyster to bread ratio was light for the price. Good fries. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. All in all food was a disappointment. read more

Good food. Good atmosphere. Grilled options better than the fried ones. I'd definitely go back.

Saint Patrick's Day was our first visit to Tricky Fish and it did not disappoint! In the spirit of our Irish ancestry, we decided to try the fish and chips and they were delicious. The service is awesome and we will definitely be back. read more

Our service was great our food was quick so were our drinks .the place is very clean our food was very good. It had the best okra I've ever had,And I don't even like okra. My wife love the place! read more

Fantastic Place !! Great fresh seafood and a few selections for non-seafood eaters. Fried platters have just right amount of fresh breading (not prepackaged or frozen). Sides were very flavorful and all of the sides at our looked amazing. Good portions and reasonably priced. Looking forward to trying the other location when in Ft Worth. read more

What a wonderful establishment. The food is so so so good! The service is EXCELLENT! I don't know where these people got their training but they are absolutely wonderful. Every single one of them. They have a new fan. I can't wait to visit again. My husband grew up in New Orleans and he loves this place and the po' boys. read more

Legacy West in Plano has some competition on the rise!! CityLine in Richardson is new and upcoming with a lot of nice restaurants. Tricky Fish was everything I was looking for in Cajun food. Our waiter William was excellent, to the point that he stood in a parking space and held it while I moved my car from the garage. Now if that is not excellent above and beyond for customer service, I don't know what is!! He is very knowledgeable, engaging and a pleasure just to talk too!! The food was so good and full of flavor. It's like Mardi Gras in your mouth!! There are so many things I want to try and I plan on going back soon!!! Oh and how can I forget the MEGA MULE!!! It was so good and it literally takes two to drink it and we barley finished. It may seem small on the inside, but packs a punch and you will not be disappointed!!! HEY TRICKY FISH SEE YOU SOON!!!! read more

I wasn't even aware of this hidden little area off Renner and Bush in Richardson. I was looking for something different for a Sunday brunch and found Tricky Fish by accident. Dayum was it good! Had the blackened redfish that included crawfish etouffee on rice and fried okra. The okra was split and not batter fried but fried crisp. It was awesome. my wife had the fried oysters and grits with a fried egg. They were both ridiculously good and even better with mimosas. read more

If you're a seafood junkie, you need to try this place out. Good selection of hors d'oeuvres. Lots to choose from on the menu. Five stars to the bartender for a PERFECT dry martini. One piece of advice...come hungry. read more

Really good buffalo chicken sandwich and some of the best fried okra I've ever had, if you're an okra lover, you wanna stop here for sure

This place is great. The staff are very attentive and provided excellent service. The food is good too! They accommodated a large party of us for brunch during COVID. They have contactless bill pay with QR codes on the receipts. We ate here twice on our trip to Richardson. Definitely recommend! read more

Bringing a small group of 10 to the restaurant today for lunch. Called to make a reservation or at least notify the staff but was told it's first come first served. You'd think they'd want to at least try to have tables set up expecting a group...but we'll see how it goes once we get there and update the review. So far not impressed and we probably won't come back for a group outing. Update - luckily we got there at 1145am and were able to secure 3 tables. The system is your table has a number. You read over the menu, go up to the counter to order and give them your table number and then they bring the food to you. I was a little nervous as people in my party had walkers, but it worked out just fine. Everyone enjoyed their food. Gumbo, fish tacos, the fried shrimp platter and the fried green tomatoes were all very good. The French Toast dessert was ok but would have been better with more sauce to soak up into the bread. It was a little too dry and not moist. I'd go back and would recommend it. Can't vouch for the drinks as this was a business lunch. read more

So lately ive been spending my brunch sundays at the same spot, why you ask a couple of reasons primarily they are one of the few resturaunts left that serve endless mimosas super plus. The staff is also,so friendly and courteous I frequent here so often they know me by face and always super kind A+ for such great customer service. Lastly their food is super delish from cajun to brunch burgers tricky fish is thr spot to be! If your looking for one of those last spots that offer unlimited mimosas run over here for brunch hopefully they don't discontinue it like so many other resuraunts have!! read more

What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Our precious waitress, Chasity, was attentive and just downright friendly!!! Enjoyed a great girls eve out! You must try the Thai Chicken Wings appetizer and the French Toast Sundae! The Anita batter fish sandwich is yummy!!! And don't forget the Okra Appetizer too! Will be back often with friends!! read more

Probably one of our favorite seafood restaurants! We love the tricky fish dish that comes with tilapia and crawfish etouffee and dirty rice. Its reasonably priced and it's plenty of food! I've tried the seafood linguine and the fried seafood platter with fried shrimp, fish, and oysters as well. The shrimp and fish had a very nice crispy batter but the batter on the oysters fell apart too easily. Seating can be a little confusing. On our first visit a host sat us down and told us to order at the front. But on our second visit we were seated but had a waitress taking care of us. Location is right in city line and parking is easy using the nearest garage. read more

Delicious! Full of flavor. I had the tilapia with lemon butter sauce and rice plus the fried green tomatoes with remoulade sauce and blackened shrimp. Well done, Tricky Fish! read more

You have to try the okra! It's amazing as an appetizer! We love the bar seating. Great drinks and nice pours!

I really wanted to like this place, but it's just really mediocre. Why is it so hard to find good cajun seafood here?! I mean, there's always Papadeauxs, but who can afford that on a regular basis?! I might try it one more time, we'll see... read more

I have a new favorite - the flash fried whole okra. Do not knock it, until you have tried it. I was initially too skeptical to try okra, but glad I did. I also recently tried the smoked bourbon drink - the bartender smokes it right there in front of you. This smoked drink is to be savored, not sipped. I just wish they would offer the amazing crab cakes again; they were so delicious at a ridiculously low price. read more

Simple and delicious. We started with the peel and eat shrimp, which were seasoned to perfection and chilled perfectly. The cocktail and tarter sauce that accompanied were also on point. I ordered the redfish which came with a wilted spinach salad and a side of grilled okra. Everything was prepared delightfully and tasted even better. This place is a must go if you want to grab an inexpensive seafood dish that will leave you wanting more. read more

Bartender was amazing!! He took really good care of us, I can't remember his name. They have really good specials/happy hours during the week (impressive). I was disappointed in how long it took to get our food. Also, a couple of people's orders came out wrong. Other than that, I really like Tricky Fish. read more

Interesting method of assigning tables as you walk in, you order at the counter, show them your number, then sit at the numbered table. Food was good, got the tilamook mac n cheese with grilled shrimp. My business colleagues enjoyed their fish and chips and po' boy as well. Good for casual seafood, lots of catfish on the menu. read more

I have been eyeing this place for a while because the pictures looked really good on yelp (I know, I am that girl). When I walked in, it looked very promising. This guy was standing at the door greeting you and asking you where would you like to sit and it was nicely decorated with contemporary style. However, the set up was slightly confusing because it could be a chill bar or a nice sit-down restaurant; you couldn't tell. Our waiter was really great too. My expectation for this place kept growing and growing and then my food came...and it quickly went from 100 to 0 (or maybe 20). I ordered the shrimp and oyster fried platter. They gave you like 4 oysters and 4 shrimps. The coleslaw and fries were good; I will give them that, but my expression just went from SpongeBob to Squidward as I was eating my food. I wish they would up their food game and this place could be really poppin'. read more

My dude and I went here after wine walk in Downtown Plano. We took our dog here and one night and sat on the outside patio. Our server was really cool and immediately got a water bowl for our dog. How nice! This restaurant kind of has a fast casual feel as you order in the front, but I guess servers can also take your order when seated, which I appreciated (because of the dog needing to stay outside). They also have soft drinks that you can serve yourself with, but our server got our drinks for us; again this is something we appreciated. We ordered their special fish of the day, which I can't really recall of the name but it was grilled to perfection and buttery and delicious and all that. We also got their grilled salmon, which was excellent as well. The sides we got were yummy, which included fries, rice, and mashed potatoes. Overall, we had a great experience here. The food and hospitality were excellent. Also the location is pretty cool as it is located at the CityLine of Richardson. The only downside was that the prices were a little higher for a fast casual restaurant, but it is a small matter... I would still return to dine here again. Enjoy! read more

Poor boy was less than. I'm from Louisiana. Bread isn't right at all and tarter sauce on a poor boy isn't a thing. If you want a couple of shrimp on a loaf of bread(That isn't good)), you're in the right spot. read more

My experience here was great! I came here on a weekend with my fam...nice environment and phenomenal service! Not only from our waiter but also we encountered a couple employees and every single one of them were nice. Definitely coming back here soon for drinks and food ! read more

We really enjoy having date nights and eat at pappadeaux often for seafood and usually order the redfish. The Redfish was comparable to pappadeaux and half the price! I had been wanting to come to this place ever since I had seen a picture of the bloody mary awhile back but hadn't gotten around to it. Friday turned out to be the perfect excuse to go as I needed to find a place that had happy hour later than 6. I saw that this place had HH until 7, had great Yelp reviews, & of course has that bloody mary. Our server was awesome, & I had a fun time with my friends, however the drinks and food were just mediocre. They were nothing to write home about, especially for the prices! I'm not saying I'd never go again, although I did half jokingly say that when I tried the subpar ranch. However, I would never be the one to suggest it and unless it was for a special occasion would only tag along during HH for drinks. read more

Damn good fish sandwich loaded with killer slaw and bacon jam. Shiners are reasonably priced. Cocktails are expensive. the etouffee was mildly spiced but good. Definitely not great, but quite good. I came here after they changed from walk up and order at the counter to being seated with a menu. I thought the food was great. The portions are great for what you pay. I ordered a burger since i was short on time and figured it would be the quickest. I also got it with coleslaw. The Burger was huge and extremely filling. The patties were juicy and full of flavor. The coleslaw was fresh and not drowning in sauce. It came cold and very crisp which is the best way to get it. I would have preferred the order at the counter option. The wait staff the day I was there was a little on the slower side and over chatty. I would still recommend the place and will continue to visit. read more
