We were looking for a good breakfast spot while staying in Redding for an extended family visit. So of course we consulted our go to source Yelp and had our interest sparked by Trendy's reviews. Trendy's is an old school breakfast spot and just what you'd want in a good hole in the wall restaurant. We came in and snagged a spot at the counter as there was quite a line of waiting patrons and the place was packed. It was obvious that the place is a local's favorite and I can see why, sitting at the counter in the heart of the action it was amazing watching the interplay of the staff, everyone friendly and enjoying each other with a lot of side banter, I like that in places I eat especially under the pressure of a full restaurant. We were greeted by a hostess that brought us some iced tea, and our waitress was great, you could tell from the way she handled customers and our ordering she was a delightful veteran of this environment. The menu is pretty deep and everything is made to order, so if your the type of diner that has one eye on the clock and the other on the kitchen, you'll be disappointed. The cooks make sure your order is right and not premade. I had the chicken fried pork loin with, over easy eggs, country potatoes and homemade biscuit and homemade raspberry jam. My wife had the corned beef hash, over easy eggs and toast and the raspberry jam. My portions were huge, I couldn't even begin to finish everything, the chicken fried pork loin, seriously, covered half the plate. The country potatoes were excellent, very good seasoning, eggs perfectly cooked, and the biscuit was incredible, fluffy very buttery flavor and the jam simply could not have been better. My pork loin was a bit lacking on flavor, being a milder flavor cut over over your standard chicken fried steak, but still a good cut of meat. The gravy had the right texture and thickness, but I'd like a more seasoned flavor, had to add my own salt and pepper, I was hoping for a better taste to go with the perfect texture. My wife enjoyed her breakfast, everything was done right and raved about the homemade jam. She liked the hash, but as always, tries to compare it to the incredible hash at Jax at the Tracks, our winter hometown Triple DDD favorite, in Truckee. Overall a good solid breakfast stop, great staff, good made to order food that's sure to please. We'll definitely be back when having breakfast in Redding. read more

Trendy's is worth a detour off the highway - it was one of the best meals on our road trip! The restaurant is family-run and is just outside of the main downtown area of Redding. We were seated promptly, and it only took about a half hour to get our food on Memorial Day, which was pretty good considering how crowded the restaurant was! It was awesome that we were able to get small portions of the eggs, pancakes, and French Toast so we could try a bit of everything! The breakfast potatoes were delightfully crispy and garlicky, the pancake was tasty and huge, the French Toast (with a Panko coating) was sweet and a bit crunchy, and the biscuit was enormous and uniquely fluffy. The homemade preserves (apricot and jalapeno) were also out of this world! The service was super warm and friendly, like you were dining with old friends. We would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area, and we would definitely come again! read more

Can't go wrong with this place. I was just passing through Redding and found this place on yelp. Pancakes were legit along with the Locomotive scramble. Good size portions with a homemade, home cooked taste to it. Get the jalapeño jam to put on your pancake or biscuit. Also start your meal with a homemade peach crumble muffin. read more

Thank you, Yelp, for guiding me to this little gem. We were driving through and wanted a casual place to eat some yummy food. Trendy's popped up as close to us. It's a cute little diner set up. We decided to sit at the counter. They had good options for kids. And the regular menu had some interesting options but it all looked amazing when it came from the kitchen. It was busy, which is always a good sign. We ordered the chicken caprese sandwich and the sweet potato medallions. My kid had the turkey sandwich and fruit. The fruit was beautifully presented and 100% fresh. The chicken sandwich was to die for. And the sweet potato medallions were amazing with ranch. They offered cinnamon and sugar sprinkles on the medallions, but we opted not to. But it's a good option if you like it that way. We chatted with a couple of the servers and come to find out it's family run and operated. They said they love what they do and it definitely shows in their food. I got a mocha latte blondie bar to go and that was amazing, as well. We will definitely be stopping here on our way through again! read more

Went here after working a charity golf tournament and were looking for a brunch style menu. The wait was a little long, but well worth it. The food was delicious and we were able both breakfast and lunch items all day. Our server even noticed I am a veteran and offered me a veteran discount on our bill. Stopped in for breakfast on our way out of town. This is a cute place with friendly service and tasty food. The breakfast Trendwich was so fresh and delicious. The gouda and aioli were a great combination. The potatoes were golden and crispy with just the right amount of seasoning. The kids loved the chocolate chip pancakes and my husband really enjoyed the corn beef hash. I also enjoyed the coffee. It was served in a nice large mug and was better than most diner coffee. Was really excited about eating here after reading all the positive reviews. Was seated at the bar and given coffee. The coffee was awful but I still was excited after seeing the menu. After 10 minutes of being completely ignored the host told us to take a table since the servers tend to forget about the counter. Sat and waited another 10 minutes while the servers continued to completely ignore us. Multiple tables that came in after us had their orders taken. One server stopped and talked on the phone, and even did a mini interview with someone dropping off a resume. I have worked as a server most my life and was honestly appalled at the rudeness. Left after 25 minutes and honestly the whole experience was awful. read more

My husband and I frequent here as often as we can! The garlic fries are delicious! The breakfast is what we go for though! We always try to mix it up and try something new and so far we have not been disappointed. The ingredients are always fresh and the coffee is always hot and kept full. We were in town visiting family and wanted a good breakfast before hitting the road home. The menu is a little different but everyone found something they loved including my two kids. I had a breakfast sandwich that was nothing that I've ever had before including gouda cheese and a homemade aioli. Yum! My daughter had crusted French toast that was the perfect crunchy soft. Even the coffee tasted special and delicious. The service was fantastic and everyone working seemed attentive and nice. There was a wait when we got there but they managed to get us a table quickly. Trendy's has always been our go-to for breakfast, the food is fresh and on point. Today we came in because it's our anniversary, and breakfast was going to be our only time to celebrate. Had our four year old with us, he loves the pancakes! We sat in the back room where only one other table was occupied, the restaurant had maybe only half a dozen tables seated in all. Were brought coffee and menus promptly. Within 10-15 minutes the room was completely full and we were entirely forgotten. Watched tables seated well after us order and receive their food before our order was ever taken. Tried to catch the waitress a couple of times unsuccessfully until she delivered food to the table next to ours and I said "Excuse me ma'am, we still need to order..." and she waved a hand in my direction, mumbled something and turned and left the room. A few minutes later a different waitress came in and took our order. This was now 35 minutes after being seated. Another 35 minute wait and we finally received our food. Several tables who arrived after us had eaten and left by now. Never did we receive an apology for our wait, even when our coffees were refilled a second time and I politely declined with "no thank you mine is already cold". Not sure I will make the effort again to choose Trendy's though we do enjoy their food. read more

We immediately noticed how cute and clean the restaurant was and were greeted the minute we walked in. They were pretty full but had our order placed within 10 minutes. We were offered homemade jam with our breakfast and it was so delicious. I had the taco omelet and it was spicy and filling and the fruit bowl was amazing-not just a few melons with a grape. This fruit bowl had blackberries, blueberries, apples, grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe, bananas and honeydew! Husband had the Shroom Cali omelette and he said it was realllly good! Food is usually really good. So I decided to try the breakfast the last time I went into Trendy's, but sadly my pancake was left under the heat lamp for to long while my other plate of food was being prepared. The rest of my breakfast was good but I thought it was pretty disappointing to receive a cold and dry pancake especially when the food takes so long to get to you. I would have said something about my pancake, but everyone was busy and didn't really acknowledge me when trying to wave for them to come over. Also I always see the young couple that works at Trendy's making out and touching on each other while on the clock. We came from out of town, looking for a place that the locals love. We certainly found it. We tried the panko french toast, 2 versions of the eggs benedict, the corned beef hash and chicken fried steak. Everything was delicious and a bit unique to this place. I'm pretty picky when it comes to diners/cafes but this place was so amazing! I got the Locomotive scramble and it came with fresh fruit and a pancake. The scramble was delicious and came with avocado on top (a sure way to my heart). The fruit was a sweet assortment of strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, blackberries etc. The biscuits and jam are also homemade and to die for.
