My daughters love this place and honestly, the last time I went a couple of years ago I was nonplussed but when you're asked out for breakfast by your oldest daughter and my granddaughters, it's an offer you can't refuse. Wife and I got there a little earlier than the rest of the family (a total of 5 people) on a Sunday morning; be prepared, this restaurant is small. We expected a wait and were not surprised at about a 35 minute wait. In the meantime everyone had arrived. After being seated we found the service to be good and attentive. Then came breakfast. Overall I'd rate it as an 8-8.5. Hash browns were awesome. The girls all had variations of their favorites: pancakes, waffles, French toast, etc and they enjoyed that. My wife's bacon was overcooked (near burned) so it went back and the revision was good. I'm very much a steak and potatoes guy, so when the waitress said their special was a ribeye with eggs and potatoes (yeah I know, some of you are thinking heart attack on a plate) I had to try it. Added a biscuit with a side of gravy (yeah, yeah, I know...) and soon that arrived. Now I realize this is not a fine steakhouse and I wasn't expecting prime but it seemed like I had to chew for an hour. Didn't finish the ribeye (doggie bag) and figured the biscuits & gravy would be the clincher to save the breakfast. Quite bland and flavorless, with the biscuit being very dry. Too bad because everyone else seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their meal. BUT my hash browns were amazing and the company was as well and hey, it was breakfast. The eggs were also just right! read more

SO disappointed in this place. We saw the high ratings and were excited to try it. We went on Labor Day. 1: our waitress was so incredibly RUDE. She had an attitude about everything, forgot drinks, and literally just set everything we got at the end of our table and made us pass it down. What the hell. 2: we specifically wanted somewhere with mimosas. They sat us outside in front of the business and then when we attempted to order mimosas, our waitress told us we could not have them outside. WHY DID NO ONE SAY ANYTHING? Why would you not make sure to mention this to guests before seating them? This alone makes me knock off 2 stars. 3: because we were outside, the sun was beating on us. We had kids with us, and there were sunshades about 1/3 down, so I went inside to ask if we could lower them a bit more. I was told they had to be the ones to do it, and someone would be out soon. They never came and did it so we just adjusted everyone best we could. 4: cherry on top? None of the food was worth the trouble. 10 people and none of us felt it was better than subpar AT BEST. One of our kid's meals was the cold turkey sandwich, and it came out as massive chunks of turkey (like straight off the bird) and stale bread. Nothing else. The pearl waffles taste like straight sugar. No other flavor. read more

Had a croissant breakfast sandwich. It was ok. I'm not a fan of their eggs, it was off. The color seemed off. Everything else was fine. read more

It's another one of those places that you are not sure about when you arrive. But it had good reviews so we went in and I'm glad we did. Service was wonderful. I couldn't believe how much food we got on our plates. My husband had the corned beef hash with a biscuit and I had the steak breakfast tacos. I brought most of the potatoes home and had them the next day. The coffee was great as well. read more

Trendy's has become a must-stop when rolling through Redding, having been here a couple times now I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch, friendly service in a family environment, and a fast kitchen, which is great when hunrgy! Most recently my sister was staying in Redding and I drove up to spend some time with her. When I told her I was taking her to Trendy's she was a little nervous thinking it was a bougie brunch spot but once inside she understood its cozy charm. We got a table for two inside on an unseasonably hot March day. The waitress was so nice, she took our order and brought it out FAST! In no way were we rushed, but we appreciated the quick service. I ordered the Mozzarella Basil and tomato sandwich on ciabatta with balsamic and loved it! I ordered it with coleslaw and appreciated that it wasn't the sugary sweet kind, it was angel hair cabbage and their sauce. My sister ordered a platter and we loved that she brought us multiple homemade jams to try with the biscuit. Highly recommend coming by if you live here or are passing through. read more

We don't really have old-school diners with an authentic Americana quality in my city, so I was very interested in trying Trendy's during my stay in Redding. The servers were super friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and there was a steady stream of regulars while I was here. I was initially excited for my meal but the food wasn't to my taste. The menu states that classic plates and omelettes come with garlic herb potatoes and choice of toast, biscuit, or pancake. My corned beef hash plate ($16.50) was pretty lackluster and underseasoned. The corned beef was mushy and more fine textured than what I'm accustomed to. However, the potatoes in my hash were decently browned and my eggs were cooked over easy as requested. The pancake was fluffy and came with pats of salted butter, but the pancake itself tasted like it was made from a mix. A server kindly brought over some homemade mixed berry, strawberry, and mango jams that made the pancake more interesting to eat. The warmed bottle of syrup on the table was a thoughtful touch. I didn't get a side of garlic herb potatoes with my plate, so I asked a server about it and they said my corned beef hash was already made with potatoes so it wasn't included. Maybe the menu wasn't updated or there was a misunderstanding, but I do see that another user posted their corned beef hash plate which did come with the garlic herb potatoes. My dining companion ordered the "pearl waffle" plate ($13.50) which had 2 Liège style waffles, whipped cream, and fruit. I ate some of the waffle and enjoyed crunching on the pearl sugar. It was nice with a smear of jam. The waffles are pretty small so if you have a hearty appetite, you might want to order an additional side. They ordered some scrambled eggs ($4.50) to round out their meal and said the eggs were fine. I don't think I'll be coming back but I definitely see why it's a local favorite. It's just not the best breakfast place for me and that's okay! Some non-food details: friendly and efficient service, indoor and outdoor seating, and decent amount of onsite parking + street parking available if needed. read more

Stopped in Redding for a night on our drive from the Bay Area to Seattle and this looked like a really solid brunch spot! It did not disappoint -- we ordered the chicken apple sausage as well as the California Breakfast Burrito with country potatoes. The chicken apple sausage was delicious, and I would definitely reorder if I came here again. My husband also loved his breakfast burrito, especially with the spicy salsa (they also have a mild option). He was a bigger fan of the country potatoes than I was. We also had the cinnamon swirl pancake and panko-crusted french toast on the side. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pancake as I found there were too many walnuts in it for me to enjoy, so I think next time I'd try their sweet cream pancake instead. The french toast was definitely a standout though and super unique. The panko crust added the perfect crunchy texture and the sourdough gave it a solid structure that held up well with both syrup and their house jams (I recommend trying the peach jam if it's in season!). Definitely don't miss out on the french toast! Overall would stop by again if I'm in the area. read more

Came here for breakfast after taking to Yelp to find a nice local spot that wasn't a mediocre chain. Trendy's was the highest rated breakfast spot, and had classics that everyone in the group would like, so Trendy's it was! We were helped by Mary, who was very friendly and gave great customer service! The food was talking a while because it was packed, so she brought out our pancakes a little early so we could have something to snack on while we waited for the rest. My boyfriend and I shared the Huevos con Chillies Omelet and Corn Beef Hash, with a biscuit as our side for one and a pancake for the other. Both breakfasts were good, with the corned beef hash being my favorite of the two. The portions were a good size to fill you up, and the prices reasonable. It was Father's Day, so the place was filled with families celebrating. Even though it was quite crowded, we only had about a 10 minute wait to get seated. They have seating inside and out, but Redding is hot, so we opted for inside - otherwise it would've been even quicker to get seated. This spot is pretty hidden and nowhere near the areas of Redding we frequent when visiting, so very glad I found them on Yelp! read more

We stopped by for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was warmly welcomed upon entering by one of the servers. She told us to grab an open table and someone would be with us shortly. Our server came over with in a few minutes and asked if we had looked at Menu and wanted to order: Our food arrived quickly looked amazing and tasted even better. Had the BEST Monte Cristo I have EVER had! We're in Redding for the weekend and turned to Yelp to find a breakfast spot--so glad it led us to Trendy's! The reviews were spot on because Trendy's did NOT disappoint. I love a good Monte Cristo and have tried a lot of them, but this one is hands-down the best I've ever had. The ham and turkey tasted like something straight out of grandma's kitchen on a special holiday, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the bread-to-meat-to-cheese ratio was absolute perfection. The service was just as amazing--Alma, our waitress, suggested I try the mango jam with it. I was hesitant (I'm usually a berry jam girl), but WOW... it was so good I ended up taking some home! My husband ordered the BEN sandwich and said it was delicious. He also had the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which brought back sweet memories of his grandma making it for him in a little amber glass when he was younger. Portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and parking was easy--which is always a win. If you're passing through or local to the area, make sure you stop by Trendy's for breakfast or brunch. There's a reason they have so many great reviews! *REVIEW UPDATE* It was so good the first time we went back today! My Husband had the steak tacos and said they were AMAZING! I have a sensitive tummy and sometimes finding a good mix of carbs and protein can be a challenge. I ordered just a scrambled egg and since the turkey in the Monte Cristo was so good I ordered turkey all by itself for an added little protein! Dipped it in their homemade jam of course! For my carbs I ordered a pancake. (Kind of apprehensive about that from a prior review I read...) that review was way off! If that pancake was from a box please let me know who makes it cause it was so fluffy and yummy! As we sat outside we saw many people come in and out and the employees greeted many of them by name! I almost wish I lived closer so I could be a regular too! Sorry no pics This time as we are before we thought about it! read more

Trendy's is tucked away in a sort of random corner of Redding but still made a good stop along the way from SF to OR. Dope little breakfast diner with friendly service and solid food. We got both the norcal burrito and the breakfast tacos. The burrito was solid, but I'd HIGHLY recommend getting the breakfast tacos. Those were hella bomb. We also go the panko french toast, which I thought was decent. It was nothing special, just your standard french toast with panko breading, but still yummy. We went here on a Sunday morning around 1030ish and while it was a bit busy, definitely wasn't overcrowded and they had no problem with seating us promptly. There's plenty of parking as well, so that wasn't an issue. I'll definitely plan on coming back if I'm ever in the Redding area and wanting breakfast/brunch. read more

Trendy's is a "hometown" diner serving breakfast and lunch. The staff make you feel right at home with welcoming smiles and attentive service. We sat outside to enjoy the morning sun, the for folding chairs they were comfortable, and the chairs and tables clean. The food was delicious, especially the omelette and the pancakes, syrup & butter (it was soft :) and easy to spread) are not necessarily needed- the pancake was light, fluffy, and buttery sweet. Whether you're a local or passing through Trendy's is a great choice and sure to become a favorite!! read more

We always like to stop here when in Redding - and it's a great mid- drive stopping point when you're driving from the Bay Area to Ashland! I'm a sucker for their Monte Cristo sandwich and my husband always gets their eggs. Their hash browns are perfectly crispy, and he likes their blackberry jam. Staff is friendly and helpful - a nice family place and outdoor area is perfect when you're traveling with a pet (our dog approved the water dish). We'll definitely be back on our next trip! read more

We came here early on a Tuesday morning at 9am, it was just us and another party of two. A local mom and pop breakfast spot. Plenty of parking. Our server was nice and sweet and attentive. The burrito was your normal bfast egg and bacon. Would come to support local again! read more

Loved being able to dine outside! Old school diner vibes. Great menu! The service was excellent as well. Will absolutely go back!

We came here on a weekday and the place filled up with a trickle and was pretty full by like 930 am. We ordered a French toast plate and the chia pudding. We also ordered a coffee and orange juice. In total, the bill was over $50 and so it was not cheap. The food itself was just ok. The French toast was much more eggy than we thought it should be, and on the drier side. The chia pudding was fine, nothing special, but it did come with some fruit and granola. Overall, we thought the food was just ok. The service was kind and helpful, though. There is plenty of parking up front and on the side streets. read more

One of those small out of the way jewels that you find once in a while with absolutely amazing food and service! Huge portions! My wife had the Locomotive omelette. An egg omelette filled with meat, veggies and cheese, served with cottage potatoes and a biscuit bigger than a man's fist and their homemade jelly. My son had the Mt Shasta. A generous serving of scrambled eggs, mixed with ham, potatoes and cheese. Served with a pancake that was as big as a plate. He's a 17 year old and a big eater and could not finishe the whole thing. I had the Cortez with steak. Basically a bowl full of eggs mixed with corn tortillas (or Texas Migas) added steak that was amazingly tenders If you're in Redding this is the breakfast spot! Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Yes, I said it. Despite its high ratings, we almost judged "the book by its cover" by its remote, location and rustic exterior. I'm glad we know better because Trendy's was the perfect stop for breakfast in Redding! We were greeted quickly and took a seat in the compact restaurant,. Coffee arrived soon after and it was jexactly as I hoped it would be. Straightforward diner coffee. Service was incredibly friendly and efficient, with the meals arriving so quickly it felt like they had already started cooking before we got there. Obviously that's not true, but it was just that fast. Hubby ordered a classic bacon, eggs, hash brown, and single pancake breakfast, with every component being exactly as he loves. As I started this review, my sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I've had. The grilled sourdough was not greasy, the Gouda was melted and held everything together. The over medium eggs provided just enough runny richness, and the star of the show was the deliciously caramelized sausage patty. So many different flavors all brought together by this spicy chipotle aïoli. It was a perfect sandwich. Start to finish, I'm so glad we found this place and would definitely come back when visiting or passing through the area. read more

ROACHES!!! Like actual roaches all over the restaurant. Last year or so the quality has gone down. Steak tacos used to come with big chunks or juicy steak and now they're chopped up burnt pieces. Roaches crawling around the table a cook stepped on one and then wiped it off the floor with the table rag like it was the most normal thing in the world.
