SO disappointed in this place. We saw the high ratings and were excited to try it. We went on Labor Day. 1: our waitress was so incredibly RUDE. She had an attitude about everything, forgot drinks, and literally just set everything we got at the end of our table and made us pass it down. What the hell. 2: we specifically wanted somewhere with mimosas. They sat us outside in front of the business and then when we attempted to order mimosas, our waitress told us we could not have them outside. WHY DID NO ONE SAY ANYTHING? Why would you not make sure to mention this to guests before seating them? This alone makes me knock off 2 stars. 3: because we were outside, the sun was beating on us. We had kids with us, and there were sunshades about 1/3 down, so I went inside to ask if we could lower them a bit more. I was told they had to be the ones to do it, and someone would be out soon. They never came and did it so we just adjusted everyone best we could. 4: cherry on top? None of the food was worth the trouble. 10 people and none of us felt it was better than subpar AT BEST. One of our kid's meals was the cold turkey sandwich, and it came out as massive chunks of turkey (like straight off the bird) and stale bread. Nothing else. Trendy's has become a must-stop when rolling through Redding, having been here a couple times now I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch, friendly service in a family environment, and a fast kitchen, which is great when hunrgy! Most recently my sister was staying in Redding and I drove up to spend some time with her. When I told her I was taking her to Trendy's she was a little nervous thinking it was a bougie brunch spot but once inside she understood its cozy charm. We got a table for two inside on an unseasonably hot March day. The waitress was so nice, she took our order and brought it out FAST! In no way were we rushed, but we appreciated the quick service. I ordered the Mozzarella Basil and tomato sandwich on ciabatta with balsamic and loved it! I ordered it with coleslaw and appreciated that it wasn't the sugary sweet kind, it was angel hair cabbage and their sauce. We don't really have old-school diners with an authentic Americana quality in my city, so I was very interested in trying Trendy's during my stay in Redding. The servers were super friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and there was a steady stream of regulars while I was here. I was initially excited for my meal but the food wasn't to my taste. The menu states that classic plates and omelettes come with garlic herb potatoes and choice of toast, biscuit, or pancake. My corned beef hash plate ($16.50) was pretty lackluster and underseasoned. The corned beef was mushy and more fine textured than what I'm accustomed to. However, the potatoes in my hash were decently browned and my eggs were cooked over easy as requested. The pancake was fluffy and came with pats of salted butter, but the pancake itself tasted like it was made from a mix. A server kindly brought over some homemade mixed berry, strawberry, and mango jams that made the pancake more interesting to eat. The warmed bottle of syrup on the table was a thoughtful touch. I didn't get a side of garlic herb potatoes with my plate, so I asked a server about it and they said my corned beef hash was already made with potatoes so it wasn't included. Maybe the menu wasn't updated or there was a misunderstanding, but I do see that another user posted their corned beef hash plate which did come with the garlic herb potatoes. My dining companion ordered the "pearl waffle" plate ($13.50) which had 2 Liège style waffles, whipped cream, and fruit. I ate some of the waffle and enjoyed crunching on the pearl sugar. It was nice with a smear of jam. The waffles are pretty small so if you have a hearty appetite, you might want to order an additional side. They ordered some scrambled eggs ($4.50) to round out their meal and said the eggs were fine. I don't think I'll be coming back but I definitely see why it's a local favorite. It's just not the best breakfast place for me and that's okay! Had the BEST Monte Cristo I have EVER had! We're in Redding for the weekend and turned to Yelp to find a breakfast spot--so glad it led us to Trendy's! The reviews were spot on because Trendy's did NOT disappoint. I love a good Monte Cristo and have tried a lot of them, but this one is hands-down the best I've ever had. The ham and turkey tasted like something straight out of grandma's kitchen on a special holiday, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the bread-to-meat-to-cheese ratio was absolute perfection. The service was just as amazing--Alma, our waitress, suggested I try the mango jam with it. I was hesitant (I'm usually a berry jam girl), but WOW... it was so good I ended up taking some home! My husband ordered the BEN sandwich and said it was delicious. He also had the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which brought back sweet memories of his grandma making it for him in a little amber glass when he was younger. Portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and parking was easy--which is always a win. If you're passing through or local to the area, make sure you stop by Trendy's for breakfast or brunch. We are always looking for restaurants with outdoor seating and were so happy to see they had plenty of it. On to the review... We were warmly greeted and got our outdoor table. Edi was our server and so pleasant and friendly. My husband had the Mt. Shasta which was more like a breakfast layered bowl; with their seasoned potatoes on the bottom then egg, ham, cheese and green onions scrambled on top with sour cream. It comes with a side of either a Huge pancake or huge biscuit or toast. They also have homemade jams. I had the classic, eggs, potatoes or hash browns and one of the above sides. Stopped in Redding for a night on our drive from the Bay Area to Seattle and this looked like a really solid brunch spot! It did not disappoint -- we ordered the chicken apple sausage as well as the California Breakfast Burrito with country potatoes. The chicken apple sausage was delicious, and I would definitely reorder if I came here again. My husband also loved his breakfast burrito, especially with the spicy salsa (they also have a mild option). He was a bigger fan of the country potatoes than I was. We also had the cinnamon swirl pancake and panko-crusted french toast on the side. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pancake as I found there were too many walnuts in it for me to enjoy, so I think next time I'd try their sweet cream pancake instead. The french toast was definitely a standout though and super unique. The panko crust added the perfect crunchy texture and the sourdough gave it a solid structure that held up well with both syrup and their house jams (I recommend trying the peach jam if it's in season!). Came here for breakfast after taking to Yelp to find a nice local spot that wasn't a mediocre chain. Trendy's was the highest rated breakfast spot, and had classics that everyone in the group would like, so Trendy's it was! We were helped by Mary, who was very friendly and gave great customer service! The food was talking a while because it was packed, so she brought out our pancakes a little early so we could have something to snack on while we waited for the rest. My boyfriend and I shared the Huevos con Chillies Omelet and Corn Beef Hash, with a biscuit as our side for one and a pancake for the other. Both breakfasts were good, with the corned beef hash being my favorite of the two. The portions were a good size to fill you up, and the prices reasonable. It was Father's Day, so the place was filled with families celebrating. Even though it was quite crowded, we only had about a 10 minute wait to get seated. They have seating inside and out, but Redding is hot, so we opted for inside - otherwise it would've been even quicker to get seated. Dope little breakfast diner with friendly service and solid food. We got both the norcal burrito and the breakfast tacos. The burrito was solid, but I'd HIGHLY recommend getting the breakfast tacos. Those were hella bomb. We also go the panko french toast, which I thought was decent. It was nothing special, just your standard french toast with panko breading, but still yummy. We went here on a Sunday morning around 1030ish and while it was a bit busy, definitely wasn't overcrowded and they had no problem with seating us promptly. There's plenty of parking as well, so that wasn't an issue. I'll definitely plan on coming back if I'm ever in the Redding area and wanting breakfast/brunch. read more

As I started this review, my sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I've had. The grilled sourdough was not greasy, the Gouda was melted and held everything together. The over medium eggs provided just enough runny richness, and the star of the show was the deliciously caramelized sausage patty. So many different flavors all brought together by this spicy chipotle aïoli. It was a perfect sandwich.
