Fresh Romaine leaves and croutons and the grilled chicken was moist with a nice, tasty grill on the outside while easy to bite through. I couldn't stop eating it. You have about 7 choices of dressing which the put on the side so you can choose how much. $14.50 but it could easily feed 2 people. The sandwich was so big I had it for 2 meals. The turkey was juicy with sourdough bread, good cheddar cheese, not overly mayonnaised, and a few large leaves of lettuce. I had the best hike after this delicious 1/2 of the sandwich. Ate the other the day prior and it was so delicious I scarfed it down forgetting to take a picture. $14.49 and again can feed 2 people. We found ourselves in a highway hotel chain in an industrial area outside of Redding, CA. On a Sunday evening, to boot! We were panicked to find food before the town closed down. In a warehouse less than 100 yards away was "Dill's Deli". What a perfect place to eat a last minute meal! They have hot or cold meat sandwiches, BBQ, salads, and even an early morning 6am breakfast menu for road warriors. My hot pastrami sandwich was superb! The service was great. We did come around lunch time and they do get pretty busy. There is an online order option on their website if you wish to do so. Our first sandwich was the French dip with au jus. Was recommended to here for breakfast after dropping our motorhome off for repairs. The guts said you gotta have their biscuits and gravy! This place is pretty cute, lots of seating and even an ice cream parlor in back, it was closed but looked nice. The employees were really nice too. My hubs and I each got a full order or B&G which is 2 biscuits split open with gravy and we shared a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. It was tasty but everything was just microwaved or put in the toaster. I just dont care for microwaved biscuits or sausage. It looks like they have got a good sandwich menu. So I'll have to come back and try one, I bet those are better than the breakfast, but it was still good and I'd eat here again! I found Dill's Deli during one of my regular drives from Northern California to Oregon, and fell in love immediately. I now stop by Dill's Deli every time I make the drive, a few times a year, and look forwards to their sandwiches as the best part of the drive. I've enjoyed all of the sandwiches I've ordered at Dill's Deli, but I usually go with a build your own sandwich, with their turkey, provolone cheese and veggies on their jalapeño focaccia bread. The sandwiches always include a generous portion of meat, and their turkey is super flavorful and tender. Their jalapeño focaccia is also a star for me, although I've also enjoyed their Dutch crunch and wheat rolls. My partner gets their salads and is super impressed by how loaded the salads are with meat and the other toppings. We both love eating here and look forward to it as a nice break from the drive. Local favorite! Dill's Deli may be just off Interstate 5 but it feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of the West's major thoroughfare. It's a large space with no nonsense concrete flooring and plenty of stainless steel tables. Deli sandwiches can be made-to-order (see detailed checklist for the options) as well as a selection of barbecue choices-Tri Tip, grilled chicken, and pulled pork. On this Sunday afternoon their was a quick moving line at the counter which the staff worked through with friendly efficiency. And, oh those sandwiches! We ordered a tri-tip (The Kidd) with "run through garden" veggies and hot pastrami & turkey on sourdough. Both were yummy, juicy, and sized so large we could have easily shared. They told us they were out of food except for 1/4 of a chicken and a little bit of tri-tip. This was at 4:30 on a Sunday and they're open till 7. No explanation, just they were out of food. When we walked in, there was an employee laid out on the floor after slipping by the soft drink machines and a customer was helping her. Her elbow was all busted up. The place was trashed and dirty. We were referred to this place by the Fairmont Inn across the street. There are other restaurants two exits south in town. We had a good experience with Pizza Factory. But once I got in and found the beer, I was greeted and asked if I was ready to order. I saw "Tri-tip dinner" on the menu and ordered that and a couple sides. Potato salad and baked beans. Found a nice selection of canned and bottled beers one of the several refrigerators. The meal is amazing! The tri-tip looked a bit well done but it absolutely is not. So tender and a wonderfully strong smoke flavor. There is a bit of heat in the spices, man! This is really good! The potato salad and beans are delicious as well. I just found a great place to eat! There's an ice cream shop connected to the Deli, so dessert is right on hand, if you are craving ice cream. They offer hot & cold sandwiches & dinner plates. You also have the option of creating your own sandwich. The staff were courteous and quick making our sandwiches. It was understandably quiet at 3pm & the place was a little run down but the sandwiches were HUGE and very tasty. I ordered their TBA (turkey, bacon & avocado). First time ordering here and I'm very happy. The wife loved the pulled Pulled Pork sandwich. It had plenty of chunky meat with no gristle or grease. They also honored her special request for a different sauce and no cheese. My full rack of St. Louis Pork Ribs tasted great, but weren't quite tender enough, but that worked for me since they were for several meals. I wrapped more up in foil the next day at 350 for an hour and they were perfect and also hot again. Still a strong 5 stars. I got multiple sides, but the cole slaw was the best. While traveling in Redding we were told about this place and let me tell you this hidden gem rocked our socks with their BBQ. So good we ate there twice in 2 days. For some reason I opted for Dill's. I was not disappointed, a bit surprised how good it was. This was a couple months ago and I'm still thinking about it. I love the fact there was no fat on the meat. Pastrami and cheese. I actually ordered something else. My friend told me later I ate hers and Visa Versa. I would definitely recommend Dills. I'd really like to give this place 5 out of 5 I like pretty much everything about this place the food is great place is clean workers are nice but there is one downfall and it's huge. I can't believe I've never eaten here. It's really good. The restaurant is way bigger than I thought and is clean. The smells of bbq greet you as you enter. I was expecting a deli (it's called Dill's DELI) but it's really a barbecue joint with a few extra sandwiches available. I'm not complaining. I had the dirty pig with everything and I enjoyed it, especially the crispy ends of the pork loin. More of that please. It does take a few minutes to get your food, so plan accordingly. Just had a half rack of ribs. Website says that they are slow cooked with a dry rub and smoked over low heat for many hours. I could see the smoke ring, but tasted NO smoke at all. Also, the BBQ sauce that came with the order was no better than cheat store bought sauce. If you understand BBQ, avoid this place. read more
