We went here to get some pies, and were hoping to get a pecan pie or Boston cream pie if available, but they were out of everything but the cherry pie. So we skipped having pie, and just had a mocha and a latte instead. And those were some of the best espresso drinks we've had, even compared to specialty coffee shops. Totally worth going here for those, and we're looking forward to trying the pies from here at some point! read more

From the Hearth is by far my favorite place to get a quick bite in Redding. The food is always fresh with amazing flavor and takes no more than a couple of minutes to be ready. I love the large range of options and unique flavor profiles. I recommend the Thai wrap or the Steak salad. The employees are always friendly and the lobbies kept clean. Stopped here while driving through on a Tuesday for lunch. Very disappointed that they had 0 pies. Pie is in their name and they're all sold out?? Got a cookie instead from the display and it was hard. I was hoping for chewy inside since it's a thick cookie. I got the chicken salad on croissant, which was good. Staying in Redding a few days. Discovered the place by accident as I was picking up a pizza next door to FTHK. Everyone was friendly, and answered all my questions. They also allowed my pup inside, a huge bonus. Yesterday I ordered only for my pup; skirt steak which they cooked to perfection. Love the industrial type architecture and eclectic decor. Music was also upbeat making for a great experience. This is a double review as I returned today with my pup. I ordered the terriaki bowl which consisted of mushrooms, chicken, edamame, quinoa, red and green peppers, cabbage, carrots and kale mix (can also do rice). Arrived at 6pm on Sunday, right before closing, and the staff was nice enough to accommodate us (thanks so much!) Chicken Pot Pie, bowl. An incredible value for $8. Definitely enough for a whole meal, especially with the substantial pie crust that you get with your soup. Cobb Salad with ranch dressing. Also huge and delicious. Comes with plenty of everything -- avocado, chicken, egg, bacon, tomatoes, cheese. California Chicken. It could have had more flavor (maybe some more mayo?). FLAVOR (3.5/5): Pesto Benedict was decent, exactly as the name sounds a traditional Benedict slathered with pesto sauce. We also had their mimosas which were standard. Nothing blew us away but if you're looking for a brunch spot and aren't too picky, this wouldn't be a horrible choice. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (3/5): The inside of the place has ample seating and there are a few tables that line the outside of the building as well. Nothing fancy again, just your city spot for brunch. SERVICE (3/5): They only had one person managing the bar and cashier area. We sat outside so they had to call our names in to get drinks rather than bringing them outside. The food was brought to us. It took a while to get our order in and for the food to come out. TAKEAWAYS: Didn't have many choices in town to have brunch with a dog, this was one of them (sitting outside obviously). The blackened chicken Cesar salad is so good. Normally I would never order kale salads but this just hits the spot and I get some greens.

This location and the one by the college are the better of the three. The one on churn creek isn't good all the way around - employees are usually not friendly, food is not hot or tasty. Just an FYI. We're at the downtown location today which has some tasty food but all the locations serve lukewarm or cold potatoes and it's disappointing. Today I asked for hot potatoes, explained how they're always lukewarm, and still got lukewarm potatoes. I brought my plate back to her and asked if they could be heated and 5 minutes later got served hot potatoes. She said she gave them a note about it from when I ordered - which didn't work - and told me they put them in the fryer for me. They were hot when she brought them back. I just think if you're gonna serve potatoes with the yummy brioche sandwich, make them yummy too. They were when brought back out. From the Hearth is my favorite go-to spot! I eat here about twice a month for lunch, and I'm always craving their Southwest salad--it never disappoints. The desserts are seriously the best part, always fresh and delicious. Wait times can be a hit or miss depending on the day, so I've learned to be patient. My only real complaint is the inconsistency in portion sizes. Sometimes the salad is perfect, other times it feels a bit skimpy. Great place to stop for a quick bite! The place is comfortable with penty of seating available and a variety of options on the menu. Some of my favorites are the Peruvian steak sandwich, tomato basil soup, chimichurri tacos, Texas steak salad and brioche breakfast sandwhich. Yes, you want the side of fries! I've only had two items I don't really care for: the teriyaki bowl and breakfast burrito. The teriyaki sauce is very sweet and the bowl came drenched in too much sauce. The breakfast burrito is plain and comes with a side of pace salsa. There's beer on tap and they have one of those Coca-Cola fountain drink machines with a ton of options. The coffee is great and always tastes fresh. The order online for pickup is easy to use and efficient. read more

In DT Redding for a night and this spot was close by and had healthy options. Super silly of me, but I confused the Yakuza bowl for the one with steak when I ordered :( my fault, but maybe simpler bowl names would stick better. My pulled pork was on the dry side and a tad too salty. So adding on the sauce made it extra salty. However the veggies (kale, cucumber, carrot) were good. Wish I ordered correctly lol but this place seems overall good despite the Yakuza bowl being a 3 stars. I'd give them another try. read more

I don't care for the counter order and self bussing setup, but I understand it helps with staffing. The place is clean and bright with a good variety of offerings. My kids both enjoyed their waffles. I had the Northwest scramble and it was really delicious and fresh tasting. My husband didn't love his breakfast burrito and just from the look of it I could see why. The burrito was wrapped with a cold stiff tortilla, usually the basics of a good burrito is to steam or warm the tortilla so it's pliable and soft. It wasn't grilled after assembly either, comparing to the menu picture it looks like someone forgot a step? The salsa served with it had a good flavor overall but no spiciness at all. My daughter insisted on getting a smoothie too, and the tropical one was delicious. It tasted like pineapple and vanilla ice cream. Doubtful that we will ever be back in Redding, but if we are I would return to this place for breakfast or lunch. read more

I visited From the Hearth early on a Monday morning to do some remote work. I ordered a standard coffee, the brioche breakfast sandwich, and a maple cronut. (Which was entirely the reason I came here in the first place.) Before I talk about FTH specifically, I want to take a few seconds to discuss cronuts. This one was my first, I was expecting it to blow my mind since it's a really big trendy thing in the food scene currently. It's...fine. It's like a lighter and fluffier donut. Could have used more custard filling. This FTH is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Cute modern interior, many places to sit. The brioche breakfast sandwich was delicious. I especially liked the aioli they used. They kindly put avocado on it for me since I requested no meat. I felt the potatoes needed at least 10 more minutes in the oven, they were crunchier than I prefer. Unfortunately, the internet was not great. I have to make note of this since I was there to do remote work. I didn't end up getting much done because I kept getting booted off the network. Just as I walked in I got that diner feel but the only difference is you have to make sure to go up to the counter to order. My partner ordered the Eggs Benedict overall she enjoyed the eggs but she commented that the potatoes were on the greasy side. Whereas I previously had a large sized breakfast at home, so I opted for a smoothie. Therefore I can only speak in behalf of smoothies everywhere! I spotted this gem on Yelp when searching for a breakfast spot and this place did not disappoint! This place is beautifully decorated, super clean, and had very kind serving staff. We enjoyed a hot coffee, a cold brew, and some monkey bread while waiting for our breakfast. My husband got the brioche breakfast sandwich which was as large as a burger, with a huge sausage patty. I got the pesto eggs Benedict and it was bursting with flavor. The spinach and tomato were super fresh and the breakfast potatoes that came on the side were delicious too. We eat here about once a week and usually split two items. We've hade the Reuben (order it extra crispy - yum), the bacon burger (Mayo on the side), the pesto chicken on croissant (the onions really add nice flavor), the Cobb salad (my fave for warmer days), the chicken pot pie soup (has a flaky pastry piece on top), all of the bowls (if you're less adventurous with flavors, ask for sauce on the side). FTH is busy around lunch and with plenty of construction happening downtown the lunch rush starts earlier than you'd expect (like 11a vs the 1145am start at FTH on churn creek). We drive to the area and parking is always a lot easier than you'd expect. They are using the pay station/meter now so be sure to walk to a corner to find the large "pay here" device or find a sign on a street light (about every 50 feet) and use the text feature to share your license plate and credit card to pay. I tried the pay app but it wasn't as intuitive as the text in option. Also, I love a good brewed iced tea (vs. the iced tea that comes out of a machine) and FTH consistently has a great taste with theirs. I agree with some of the other reviews that there are some less hospitable hospitality workers here, but there are also some super stars that make up for that and are more consistently there than the cranky pants workers. So NBD. Enjoy a comfortable, well-designed space and your meal! read more

Food was terrible. The breakfast sandwich was worse than McDonald's. They don't even bother cutting off the root sprouts from the potatoes.

I really enjoyed the food. I had a chicken wrap and latte on my first visit. Yum! Had a Cajun chicken rice bowl on my second visit. Again yum! 3rd.
