And because of the reviews we ALSO grabbed a loaf of sourdough and a small key lime pie to stick in the cooler and share the next day (amazing)! It was busy but worth the short wait. We'll be back. Absolutely fantastic! I can't seem to find the pictures that I took, but what we had gotten where the wedding cookies, snickerdoodles, fresh juice, garlic bread (which had actual garlic cloves baked into the bread), and a few tiny pies. Assistantce+ Balance+ Cleanliness+ Deliciousness+ Environment+ We were greeted kindly and told about the store and varieties that they had. The price versus the quality and quantity is on point, not too expensive at all. The place was clean and organized, easy to find everything. The flavor profiles were incredible. And although it was very modern it felt like a bakery, not just a place where you get bread but more of a place where you can actually go in and feel the energy around you. Reminiscent of that feeling when you came home and smelled fresh cookies or homemade bread being baked, it's definitely not home but it feels kind of like it. This is a big space with a lovely rustic vibe. They sell a range of breakfast/brunch foods and a large variety of pastries, cookies, and other desserts. They also serve some teas and coffees, including espresso-based drinks. They do seem to run out of some of their popular items, so be aware if you're visiting a little later in the day. The service is great, and the food doesn't take long to come out. I feel that the prices are reasonable (though for some items, they err on the higher side of what I'd consider the average price range). I find that I like their pastries a little more than their savory food options (the lemon blueberry danish is wonderful), and the coffee isn't bad either. There are a lot of snacks and small purchasable items displayed around the store, largely from their own or other small businesses. I like the selection offered, and I do think it's wonderful that they seem very supportive of small businesses. I would fully recommend stopping by for a nice breakfast or brunch, or even just to pick up snacks or dessert for a treat later in the day. Wow! I saw this place at a booth at the Redding Farmers Market like a month ago, but I didn't get a chance to try it. I came back thru the Redding area today and made it a point to stop here this time. Everyone here was really friendly and just laid back vibes. Per the suggestion of one of the chefs (assuming as he had a chefs coat on) - I got one of the cinnamon rolls... this is not your average cinny roll I am not sure what they do to this to make it this delicious, I can only assume it is touched by the hands of an angel cuz wow I also got a sandwich- roast beef. This thing was absolutely delectable. I almost wish I got one for later. The chai here is absolutely amazing! It's organic. It's not a real spicy chai - which I love. There is a cute little seating area upstairs. I did make just one small slightly selfish suggestion I really would love if somewhere in Northern California carried Lotus Energy. it's natural and has healthy stuffs like ashwaganda, lotus, green coffee - US Foods can source it. In terms of flavor, I'd rank them in this order: * Apple crumble -- best of the three * Apricot -- decent * Boysenberry -- my least favorite (about a 5/10) I also have to agree with some of the other reviews regarding customer service. Unfortunately, that part of the experience was lacking, and I'd rate customer service around a 4/10. It's so nice to find a place in Redding that baked up delicious pastries /dessert/and sourdough bread ! Pastries are a bit pricy coming in at 8ish but they do offer a great deal -3 for $20 and sometime day old pastries for 50% off! Awesome find in Redding. This place gives such interesting vibes as almost a hall in the wall little Mom and pop shop but the quality and service is top notch. This home made vibe is themed throughout the business with the seating and interior hard to describe but felt so comfortable and personable. We ordered a mix of different foods - pizza, sandwiches, key lime pies and such. It was all great and nice to see such a place with so much character out here. I drive through Redding a couple dozen times a year on my way to Fall River Mills. One of my go to spots is When Pie Meets Bread. There are two things types of food that consider myselfan aficionado: Lasagna and Croissants. And When Pie Meets Bread has one of the best croissants in the world. I've traveled all over to many countries, including France, and no one seems to make croissants like When Pie Meets Bread. From the size to the flakiness to the butteriness, their croissants stand alone. In addition to their croissants, their fresh baked bread every day is exceptional. They have an incredible selection of fresh baked cookies, and other pastries. Now I see they have a full restaurant serving scrumptious dishes. I was shocked to see the Yelp ratings not be a 5.0. In my opinion When Pie Meets Bread is a solid 5.0!!! Between the food, the open air bakery, and the extremely courteous and friendly staff, this is the definition of a 5.0 establishment. So if you're local, or just passing through, make sure you visit When Pie Meets Bread. You won't be disappointed. So here's my review: Order at the counter (slow line with only one clerk taking orders), get your buzzer & your drink, then find a table. Food looks good; chicken croissant sandwich for me, salad for her along with two iced teas. $27.50... hmmm. Salad is average at best; chicken croissant sandwich a bit dry but otherwise good. Iced tea full of ice so not a lot of liquid. Back to the counter with refill request. Uhm, that'll be $2.50... FOR ICED TEA FOR PETE'S SAKE! The first glass (16 oz, although probably 4-6 oz of tea, the rest ice) is $3.62 and right at $2.50 for the refill. Let's call it $6.00. Now that my friends is just plain ugly! Lots of Pies, Fun Interior [Redding CA] We purchased a couple of items from their bakery. I was going to choose an apple pie until I saw the huge slices of Burnt Almond Cake offered. For me there is only one original bakery that made delicious burnt almond cakes and it is located in San Jose. I was excited to see that this bakery offered it too. My husband chose a Coconut Cream Pie. We had it packaged to go. The desserts are on the pricey side. My hubby enjoyed the coconut cream pie. Unfortunately, my burnt almond cake is not even close to the original BAC that I know and love. The cake is a little too thick (not light and airy) and the filling doesn't taste the same. Oh well... nice try. I've never seen a bakery quite like it before. Actually, the first thing I noticed was beyond the shelf of loaves of bread, beyond the order counter to the left, past the vegan treats and the small freezer with frozen pies. My eyes focused on the back of the shop... the eclectic table seating and hanging lights above it. Then I looked above past the lights and there's a loft... Amazing place with lovely staff members. You can tell many of these things are baked with love and extra care. I was amazed by the quality and consistency of their breads. I stopped in for a quick bite to eat so I ordered a pressed turkey pesto panini. It was really big and tasty. All of their baked goods and breads looked amazing. I had this on my list of places to try when I visited Redding and oh my gosh everything was SO good. I'm sad I don't live closer to come here weekly. The avocado toast was delicious, along with the key lime cheesecake which basically had half a layer of cheesecake topped with a layer of key lime pie and a thick graham crust - one of the best cheesecakes I've had in a long time. My mom loved the key lime pie (I did too - it had a nice texture and no bitterness). The plain croissant was super flaky and you could taste the butter on the inside - I've never had a croissant like that before. It was rich but super good! Needed to pick up pies for a dinner on our way from the PNW to Sacramento. Thanks to Yelp, we found this gem! The bakery seating decor in the back is so cute! Wish we had time to enjoy it. We have yet to try the peach, apple crumb pie and bacon quiche we bought but we did have the soup of the day (zuppa Toscana) and pizza. We got the soup with the sourdough bread, which they split for us in two separate to go containers to eat on the road (for our two kids). Soup and bread were delicious and bread was so fresh! Between the delicious pies, quiches, cake slices, and drinks available...I ended up spending over $300 within my short stay in Redding! My favorite is their banana cream pie BUT make sure you eat it right away or the bananas turn black, found out the hard way TWICE. Cake slices are good but pies are where they excel. Quiches are solid! Highly recommend! Store is clean and well organized. There's even seating available upstairs with corn hole to play.
