I like this place but I have to say they fall down on to go orders. Everytime. I won't order to go anymore. 2 sandwiches and drinks over $50. Blts..a 15. Sandwich should have something in it. There were 3 slices of bacon in each sandwich and all on one side. Not one piece in the other side. Lots of lettuce tho. I just really feel it looks sad when it's to go. 5.49 for fries. A tiny amount there too. I know food prices have gone up but for a little bit more I could have went to karlines or something for a great meal so spending 50 on nothing worth that is irritating. read more

I walk in this morning, the guy at the counter asks me if I'm ready and I say, "No, I'll need a minute." He comes back in a couple and I order my breakfast. He says, "Sorry, we end breakfast at 10:30am." I look at my phone and it's 10:33am. He adds, "Is the breakfast menu still up?" and I tell him that it is. Look, I get it that it's technically past 10:30am. I get it. I've also worked service industry all my life and I also get that your underpaid and overworked. In this situation my recommendation is to simply asks the cooks if it's cool. It's not about the breakfast, I'm seated elsewhere now and I'll be fed. It's about the poor experience of sending someone to another establishment. This review is not based on a single experience but another poor experience the last time I also went here that didn't leave a particularly great impression. Anyway, do a little better next time. My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our way back from vacation. I had the Southwest Chicken salad and my husband had the BBQ Chicken salad. Both were ok, apart from being a little dry. We asked one of the staff to bring us extra dressing, which arrived fairly quickly. My issue with this place is that only ONE staff member we could view from the seating area was wearing a mask. All the other staff members behind the counter and bringing food to the tables were maskless, as were nearly all the customers waiting in line to order food! This business is blatantly ignoring the indoor mask mandate for California. Apparently they don't care about keeping their staff members and customers safe! We could not see if those who were preparing the food had masks on, either. We ended up staying to eat our food but got out as quickly as we could. Oof - it pains me to do this review. For the last couple years, I've been coming to this drive-thru location because I loved (emphasis on past tense here) their hand pies. I'd get two sausage hand pies and some sort of coffee, and it was always great! Super flaky crust and yummy egg and sausage filling. And then about 2 months ago, they were dry and had maybe not even half of the filling that they had always had. I thought maybe it was just a bad batch, but I didn't go back until today. And they were the same - not great. They just seem drier and have not even half as much filling. One of the pies didn't even have sausage in it. If you look at the pictures, they used to be much more full and filling. But now, I will need to have an earlier lunch at like 10 because there isn't much in these. Honestly, they remind me of pastries that have been in the freezer a little too long. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back for these. We ordered a plate of fries and a whole milk latte as part of a self-proclaimed Redding Roaming Potluck. The fries are unbelievably crispy with some kind of magical crusty nom-nom texture-enhancers. They hit the spot. With homemaranch of course. This is Shasta County, for crying out loud. The latte was yummy, not too bright (a plus for the Mr.), and a lovely balance of espresso-to-milk-to-foam. We got to take a family's picture, admire the cozy fire, and the music wasn't too loud. Also, the plates are cute. I love coming here for coffee whenever I'm in town but I will NOT come on a Sunday every again! The boy working is rude and very unprofessional!! I'm in town on a business trip and took a chance on a DoorDash recommendation for lunch. What I received far exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Black & Blue salad, cup of chicken pot pie soup and apple pie. Everything was phenomenal. I immediately checked online to see if there was a location near me but sadly there isn't. PROS: I've been coming here off and on for about three years, it is so nice to get local breakfast food from a drive-thru. I always get the peanut butter pipeline smoothie or a breakfast sandwich (bacon is the good kind, thick cut and well cooked), but today I tried the peach and it was delicious. The staff is refreshingly friendly and the wait time is never too long, they also still have punch cards. CONS: I haven't been here in quite a while, so I ordered my go-to bacon breakfast sandwich. The reason my updated review went from five stars to four is because of the bread. Instead of the little square ciabatta bread (you can see it in one of the pictures somebody else posted), it was some kind of sourdough toast slathered with butter, making it a little bitter and leaving my fingers greasy. Clean place with a hipster flavor of clients. Food was tasty... Then an hour later my bowels exploded. It was not a good experience. On another note, if you want a smoothie, go to Jamba juice. You get more for the money with more flavors and a better taste. In regards to cost... it is fairly high for the product. Whoa. The chicken pot pie soup is LEGIT. So good! My compliments to the chef! So flavorful and topped with a flakey pie crust. Yum.

Quality control is obviously lacking. Black beans still hard in the middle and chalky, meager 5 pieces canned pineapple on the dish I received vs the huge grilled rings in the picture. Flavorless and kinda sad looking. Like the wish version of what so ordered...Disappointed I spent a whole days wages on what looks like a half hearted effort. My son and I have been to every other from the hearth location and that we would try this one to see what kind of selection they had, assuming it wouldn't be what they have in the actual restaurants, even though the restaurant menus are really tiny so we had hoped they would have everything. As someone who has worked in the food industry, I tend to notice food quality-- unfortunately I was disappointed by my experience here, and would like to offer some constructive criticism. I ordered the blackened chicken Caesar salad. The positives- I really enjoy the Caesar dressing and the Parmesan cheese that was used. The negatives-- a large amount of roughly/ poorly chopped romaine lettuce, including the " butt" of the lettuce head as well as wilted and rotten pieces-- making my salad largely inedible . There was so much of the salad I couldn't eat because it was so poorly cut and bad lettuce. There was actually a bad smell coming from the salad which turned out to be some of the wilted/ rotten pieces, along with some cucumbers that were also turning rotten. There was also a very meager portion of chicken compared to salad and what was there was dry. I have pictures pointing out what I mean about the lettuce pieces. I don't write this to be nit picky, but with the hope that some small improvements can be made to make sure each and every meal presented to the customer is prepared with excellence and attention to detail ! This little coffee shop drive through is fantastic! I've been going there fairly regularly for a cuppa cold brew (New Orleans Style) ...but recently I discovered their delicious selection of soup du jour...a daily cup of yummorama! Today I tried the Greek Chick Pea...who knew chick peas could be soo scrumptious? A mighty blend of chickpeas & savory spices...what a great surprise... I absolutely love going to the From the Hearth Bakery on Pine Street. The coffee is always amazing, better than Starbucks I might add, but more notably is the remarkable customer service you get here. The employees are always courteous, treating their customers with the upmost respect while also providing a positive atmosphere that can't be matched by any other coffee competitor. I honestly love going here because of the genuine nature of the employees. I've never felt uncomfortable or bombarded by hollow dialogue while waiting for my coffee. Frankly, I despise giving up the best kept secret in Redding but I have to stay true and give credit where credit is due. Great job ladies and gents! I frequent From The Hearth mainly for their pastries. It does seem like the quality has gone downhill. Their croissant, while normally very good, seemed overcooked and small. Their bear claws got too sweet a long time ago. The filling is too sweet and doesn't have enough almond. In addition, there's too much frosting squirted on the top. I don't need them to taste like a donut shop bear claw. That's why I pay more for real pastries. As one of the few, if not, only establishments nearby that serve quality pastries....I'm disappointed with the way things have been sliding. read more

The drive through window is in a very convenient location on my way home! Interesting concept, one side is a full service coffee shop, the other is a gas station mini-mart. I'm not a smoker, but the barista informed me that you can purchase cigarettes at the drive through window, which I imagine is very convenient for some people. The carmel white mocha I ordered was decent. I am very picky about espresso, and I'd say the shots were a little under-extracted. I'm sure it would taste fine to most people. It was less sweet then I would have expected for that drink, which I actually prefer. If you like really sweet drinks (dutch bros. style) you might want to ask them to add extra syrup. When I showed up around 11am they were sold out of breakfast sandwiches so I tried the ham & cheese stuffed croissant which was good although it would have been better if it were fresher. Both times I have been there the people at the window were extremely friendly. The guy was making all sorts of jokes. I wasn't exactly laughing hysterically or anything, but I appreciated the effort! read more
