I used them for my wedding in November, I called sometime around august to schedule a pick up for the tasting box. First thing, absolutely delicious, extremely flexible with everything I had going on, and so so helpful and kind. When I went in to pick up the box, everyone was so nice, it was clean and tidy. Then I scheduled a consultation to pick the cake, I went with the small 6 inch personal cake and 60 cupcakes. I chose red velvet for the cake and 2 different flavors for the cupcakes, made the down payment. With wedding planning and bills all being so expensive, I didn't have money for a moment to finish paying for the cake until about a week before the wedding, I called and paid as soon as I got paid. Wiley was so understanding of this situation. I will definitely be back for treats. 10/10 experience 10/10 service and 10/10 quality. read more

I am so glad I found out about this place, because these are the best cupcakes you'll ever eat. Even 3 days after having the cupcake, they are still moist and delicious. The service was great and fast and no one was in there. The shop is small and there is no place to sit down, but it is a cake shop so therefore most of the time you will probably be there to just pick up anyways. I can't recommend this place enough and will continue to come here more often. If you do plan on getting cupcakes get there early because they do run out fast, I went around noon on my lunch and they only have a few regular size cupcakes, but a ton of small ones. read more

Was in the Redding area and before coming I googled places to eat that were sponsor on the food network. To my surprise this cake place was featured as a two time winner in "cake wars." As a food network fanatic I knew right away i had to check out this place. So i booked marked this location in my yelp bookmarks as places to go during my Redding staycation. So, before I left Redding I went to get my cupcakes. I was the first one to arrive to this cupcake place. Upon entering I did not know what cupcakes to get. Simce they all looked soo delicious. They have normal size cupcakes and small size cupcakes. I went ahead and ordered regular size cupcakes. I got "red velvet." Which was very light, fluffy, and had a bit of edible red glitter sprinkled on the top. As for my partner he got the cloud 9 cupcake. Its a vanilla bean cupcake with caramel filling. It was really good! Overall, I would highly reccomend checking this place out. My only regret is not getting a cupcake of each flavor to bring back home. Cake was very expensive and tasted like box cake mix, lard icing and the lemon curd was NOT lemon curd it was some kind of chemically tasting yellow store bought jelly. The cake was ordered as a coconut cake but again, tasted like bland white cake with coconut sprinkled on top. The "full sizes" cup cakes were the same. Basically to sum it up, Sublime is going off its reputation for winning on a tv show but in reality, it's cookie cutter cake making. Very disappointing. I could have done better at home. read more

I grew up in Redding and, boy, do I wish that Sublime Cake Design was around for my birthday parties! I don't know how Wiley does it, but Sublime Cake Design should be your go-to for either cakes or cupcakes. You can tell that every cake they bake is done so with love, and Wiley and his team are always so cheerful to welcome you and celebrate your event. Their cakes are made-to-order, but you must plan ahead as they (to no one's surprise) get booked fast. However, if you cannot place your order in time, their dessert cakes are perfect for any event. And, if you are overwhelmed by their options or designs, just talk to Wiley or someone on his team: they will help you make the right choice, and they have tons of books of past cakes they have baked and designed. For my father's 60th birthday, we purchased a Cloud 9, and added custom text to the top (thanks, Wiley!). The cake was ridiculously delicious and devoured by our guests within minutes. It was just the right amount of vanilla and chocolate and not too dense (as some fancier cakes tend to be). They also make delicious cupcakes, and I'd recommend buying one as you place your custom order :) The "Redding Velvet" melts in your mouth, and the "Pink Lady" is the perfect amount of sponge to it.
