We walked in and within moments were warmly greeted by someone at the bar, the place was pretty packed, so he came out from behind to chat with us and give us the rundown. We tasted a couple things and I ended up going with a pint of the hard root beer, which was amazing. We ended up taking a 6 pack of it to go and I'm still bummed we didn't get more. I also tried a seltzer, which was good, just not what I was wanting in the moment. Boyfriend ended up getting a flight with a few different styles of beers and a seltzer. I tried a few of the brews and liked some of the hazier ones. You don't have to like beer to like this beer. So...wow. I've recently learned that I like IPAs over lagers. I guess it is congruent with liking bold red wines versus the lighter reds. But if you really want something different and refreshing go in for their sour beers like the Sherbet IPA! It sold out while we were there! They are coming out with a tropical IPA next week so they say. I'm sure it will be good! You gotta do a flight to figure what you like. The flight was $12 for an equivalent what we assumed was 2 pints. The other great thing is you can bring food in. We ordered from the Hawaiian restaurant next door. Yummm. Really fantastic. We went to three different breweries on our weekend in the Redding/Red Bluff area and this was hands down the best brewery experience we had. Service was attentive and friendly, beers were on point, and I loved the amount of outdoor seating they have. The space is equipped with hanging lights, a covered area, and fans (because you know how sweltering this town gets). We ordered a flight that comes with 5 beers at the bar, and our server was kind enough to walk the whole thing out for us to whichever table we wanted outside! I've never seen that before. Usually once you're poured, you take the flight yourself and are left to your own devices. What service! Parking is plentiful since it's in a strip mall around various other businesses. Fall River makes great beer. Went to the Taphouse for the first time last Saturday. The place is small and was packed but my buddy and I lucked out when two were leaving the bar as we entered, so we didn't have to stand. The first thing I noticed was the place smelled like a litter box. That's not an exaggeration. Distinctly like that odor from a cat's litter box. I do have a more acute sense of smell than most people, so maybe most others don't notice things like that? I asked a couple others and they said they didn't smell it. I hoped the stench would go away as time passed but it was just as strong when I left as when I arrived. If it smells like that the next time I go I won't go back. I'll just continue to go to the brewery which is odorless as it's big and open, literally so during the fair weather months. Other than that, the crowd were friendly regulars and a few them of them well lit. The staff were friendly and accommodating as well. read more

How the hell have I never reviewed this place? Fall River make the BEST beer in the North State, hands down. Honestly, they make world class beer--and the fact that they're based out of the Redding area is so cool, and shocking. When my parents first moved to Redding, I was all about Wildcard (RIP). The taproom was in a cool spot, very close to my parents' house, never too busy, had great Modern Times-influenced merchandise, and pretty good beer. But once I visited Fall River, it was all over. Even before Wildcard expanded to the Bay Area and destroyed itself (very sad, honestly), Fall River became my go-to in the area. And don't get it twisted: for a town of about 100K people, Redding has A LOT of good beer. I hope none of the breweries are owned by Bethel people. (Have I mentioned before how much I hate Bethel? How I think they're colonizers and gentrifiers and, as importantly, that their doctrine is hateful, homophobic and dangerous? Remember when they tried to use prayer to resurrect that little girl who died, torturing her grieving family for a self-indulgent, delusional circle jerk? Remember how they're taking over the city politically and exerting their influence in every aspect of life in Redding? Remember how they visited Trump at the White House? FUCK BETHEL. Y'all aren't Christian; you're evil.) Anyway. Apologies for that digression. I've always been impressed by Fall River's stouts and seasonal offerings--their Irish Coffee Stout is a thing of beauty--but everything they brew, even the stuff I don't much care for, is really solid, which is how I rank a brewery. And a couple years ago, they began brewing NE IPAs. Ooooh, man. Lazy Hazy is one of the best Hazy IPAs I have had--and I have had a lot, because I buy into that trend real hard. Numb Numb Juice is super delicious, too. People love this place. A true taproom as opposed to the restaurant/brewery model you see more often in this area, it's always been packed when I've visited--hopefully, with the pandemic, they're making sure people stay pretty far apart--and that's very telling re: the quality of Fall River's offerings. Also, the people are super nice, super helpful. Keep doing what you do, Fall River. Keep brewing those delicious, diverse beers. I hope to see you again someday, when it's safe to travel again. HMMH!!!! hoppy makes me happy) Liquid Candy...well okay....now this is a hazy IPA that has pineapple, stone fruit & melon...so I actually ordered this because of the name...and i needed a 5th beer to complete my flight...Im not a fan of hazys or fruity beers...hut this was delightfully surprising!!! It wasnt over fruity...i was so surprised that I liked it....i would actually order it again! Irish Coffee Cream Stout... OH MY GAAAWD!!! I have been waiting this whole time to try this stout (the last beer on my flight)...it is made with the local theory collaborative coffee...when you bring the snifter to your nose the coffee hint smells so wonderful...the stout itself is coffee goodness!!! The Fall River Taphouse is in the Safeway Shopping Center on East Cypress near Churn Creek Road in the thriving center of the North Valley, Redding, CA. The Taphouse sits in a small strip next to Starbucks, a Hawaiian BBQ, and Hair Salon. (What's not to love about Beer and Coffee). Parking is plentiful with the large Shopping Center that has a Safeway, CVS, and Lowe's. This is an updated review, as I first reviewed Fall River after they opened a few years back. I'm not sure if I have changed or their beer has gotten so much better, but either way, this place is excellent. I love Sierra, Stone, Lagunitas, Russian River, and several other great Microbrews in California. I honestly think that Fall Rivers Beers are at a level that they can easily go against any of the Breweries previously mentioned. Fall River has been very innovative and has a strong following in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Fall River is a great place to go with a little something for everybody. They have everything from a full-strength Double IPA (Widowmaker) to an Irish Cream Coffee Stout. They have Blonde Ale's, Hazy IPA's, East Coast IPA's, Stouts, Scotch Ale, and their world-famous Hexagenia IPA. The Staff in the Tap Room is excellent, they are super attentive to see that your Beer Mug stays full during your visit. The Bar is a nice L shaped Bar with Handicap Seating at one end, a very nice touch. They have both High and Low Top tables in the Tap Room. There is also outside seating, on the patio, with various tables and chairs. Many Pet lovers bring their Dog's and have a cold one outside with their pouch. Brent and his team at the Taphouse make everyone feel at home in their taphouse. If you're traveling through Redding, give them a shot, you will be glad you did, as this is less than a 5-minute detour off I-5 to the taphouse. For selfish reasons, I'm hoping that you don't because sometimes its difficult to find a seat. read more

174 people in Shasta County have died of COVID-19 and we're still in the middle of a pandemic. While this death count may be considerably lower than other counties on the West Coast, I was disappointed to stop in for a beer today and find really lax safety precautions. The beer was pretty good, but there was no distancing observed inside, no staff wearing masks upon entry. I get it. We're all tired of this COVID shit. But as public-facing staff exposed/exposing to potentially hundreds of people on a daily basis, not protecting your patrons by wearing face coverings is irresponsible and disappointing to observe. We all need a beer, especially during the pandemic. I think bars, breweries and taphouses are essential to mental health and I recognize the inherent risk of visiting/operating them right now. It's been sad to see incredible places close and amazing business owners struggle during this time. I know it's not an easy time to run a business. But I've seen more than a few businesses, breweries especially, making an effort to keep their staff and patrons safe. Ignoring or loosely following basic safety precautions may gain you favor among patrons who deem them overreactive, fake, or unnecessary, but it is the not the kind of responsible thing to do. read more

This is a Great place to get a local draft beer. I really liked how the atmosphere it was very inviting and it's a good place to hang out with friends. They have an outdoor patio and you can bring your dog there at least someone had a dog here and no one was complaining about it so that was a great thing if you have a dog! beer prices aren't that bad and they don't have any food here so make sure to get a good burger at habit burger before you come over. read more

Every time I visit I'm treated to a skillfully crafted brew. This last time I tried the Irish Coffee Cream Stout. A-MAZ-ING! If you are afraid of dark beers, this is your gateway dark beer. While the color is dark, the taste is smooth with coffee flavor with a smooth creamy finish. Even the other couple we were with who shy away from dark beers fell in love with this beer. It was a little ways off the freeway, but well worth the drive! The service was outstanding and friendly and the food was incredible! The salsa and chips were some of the best we've ever had and thank goodness they sell it to go. We enjoyed a local beer from Fall River brewing Company called Hexagenia.
