This is a cute little place. We were just passing through Redding just after 1 PM and decided to have lunch. We used Yelp to find this place. They're open only for breakfast and lunch, closing at 2 PM. I had a Reuben Sandwich with a side of Potato Salad. My wife had the Carnitas Taco Salad. She loved it and it was big and very hearty and came already dressed and a small cup of guacamole. So if it was so good, why didn't I make it 5-star? Well, because the prices were a bit high, especially for Reddding, CA. The salad was $14 and the Reuben was $13. Those are 'Big City' prices. Standard "American" breakfast fare.. until you get to the waffle. Oh boy, that was a good waffle. Nice initial crunch coupled with great follow-through in the bite. I typically order savory over sweet, so I got the eggs & bacon, which was fine. The waffle was for my wife, however, one bite of the waffle made me reevaluate my life decisions. Very nice people, fast service, offered take-out during this pandemic. I guess one lens for evaluation of food is how well it holds up for take-out. You know hidden little cafe's usually have surprisingly great food? Well this is a diamond! Coffe was bold, and perfect. And omg the food: I got my standard chicken fried steak, crunchy, with creamy, mild savory country gravy, tasty country potatoes. My son is eating healthy so he got the garden omelette which had fresh veggies wrapped in egg whites. My little boy got the breakfast burrito,which was NOT little and had big flavor. Just passing by through Redding and found this place on Yelp. Went it and was greeted and seated immediately (keep in mind this is on a Monday morning around 9:30/10). We ordered the fresh oj which was really good, so props to them! Food was good, had no complaints but it also wasn't anything amazing. We both had the Trendwich which was good, a little dry, and needed more of the chipotle sauce but was good overall. Service was not the greatest, it did seem a bit busy for a Monday morning but there were only 2 waitresses for the entire place. Not once were we checked up on. It was very straightforward for them. Order, bring food, bring check and that's how it very much felt. It took about 10-15 minutes for a side order for corn tortillas to come out. As someone just passing by I would definitely recommend someplace else and don't think I'd ever come back to Trendy's due to the service. read more

Excellent Pancakes!!! They call them griddle cakes, it's a huge serving so I would suggest ordering the smallest serving possible. But regardless, their pancakes are fluffy and simply cooked to perfection. Highly recommend !!! Kathy(one of the owners) was our server and she is a sweetheart. So friendly and attentive. We were pleased to learn that Trendy's is a family run restaurant- it's great to see the owners involved and so hands on. Tucked away from downtown area, looking from the outside as if it was a bar or pool hall in its former life, Trendy's offers fresh, plentiful food served by friendly, polite, and caring people. The inside is clean (especially the large, well lit bathroom) and decorated sweetly retro diner/cafe in black, white, and red with a railroad/train theme. Most of the customers seem to be local and regular, but if you are driving up/down 5, take a moment to get off and relax with quality food instead of grabbing something less desirable just of the highway. It's a family affair- mom, dad, and daughter busting butt to make sure coffee and water are refilled frequently, food is put out hot, you get more homemade jam, the toast is not too dark, you have the containers for the extra food you can't finish, and more jam to go for that leftover Monte Cristo half. Our busser on 7/20 was sweet and efficient; while I'm not sure if he is part of the actual family, but everyone is part of a well coordinated team. Don't try to decide between the garlic home fries or the fruit bowl- get both. Wish we'd had room for an order of the FRESH house-made fried zucchini, but we were breakfast focused. They have only been in business for 2 years. I hope that they continue for many more. I'm already looking forward to stopping on our next trip up north. No food shots as we made a mess of those before I thought about photos. But portions are generous, food is fresh, fruit is cut to order with no sugar added, the potatoes were not greasy, and the service was excellent- even when busy. read more

Amazing service. We got seated right away and our order taken very quickly. The servers were attentive and kind and the food came out within 15 mins even though they were busy. Trendy's is my favorite breakfast spot in Redding. It's close to home, with super charming interior, great service and excellent food! Honest to goodness, the tastiest fresh squeezed oj in town! The breakfast tacos are a really big portion. Our adult son couldn't finish them though they were really good. The pancakes taste like they have vanilla in them. DELICIOUS! Eggs are cooked any way you like them & the employees are all very fun, friendly, & professional. They were very accomodating when one in our party insisted she needed filtered water. The waitress gracefully brought her "filtered" water with a lemon & "no one" was the wiser. The women there are incredibly kind & considerate. Seating is limited & fills up fast so get there early, enjoy your time then move on. This isn't the best restaurant to hang out once your finished eating & catch up. It's really small & popular so share the seats! read more

I was very hesitant about trying this place because there are not many good food places in Redding (especially if your from a big city that has an abundance of great foods). Trendy's was a pleasant surprise!! I had the Trendwich which was under their originals. The first thing I notice when the food was brought out was how thick the sausage was!! I was expecting a weak patty like at McDonald's lol. Then it was great because the medium egg was cook perfectly, also their were two eggs one for each half. It came with some country potato's, those were good nothing to brag about but good. I drank a hot coco, which tasted like a standard packet you would but at a store. The presentation was beautiful though, it was topped with whip cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup (again store bought not home made) The staff was friendly. Also on Sunday it is reserve only which I did not know but they kindly seated us right away :) I would definitely go back to try other original on their menu. read more
