Returned for Southern comfort food. Casual service with order at the front and bring food to your number. Pluses 1. Ample indoor dining and outdoor patio 2. Ice tea had three flavors 3. Chicken pot pie was personal size and was good value for $15 with two sides 4. Mac and cheese very cheesy and good texture 5. Cup of gumbo was good 6. shrimp and grits was good Areas to improve 1. He thought the jambalaya was not very good 2. The corn bread was warm but too dry for me, it was difficult to swallow even with the butter We will be back to try other specials. I'm curious to try their Shepherds pie.

I absolutely loved this place! The prices I felt were very reasonable for the amount of food I received. I had the chicken fried chicken and felt like the batter was perfectly cooked, flavored, and crispy, which I love. The chicken was also juicy, which was really nice. I had the brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese as my sides, which were both fantastic! I especially loved the fried deviled eggs as an appetizer. Customer Service was super friendly and helpful and the service was very quick. I love the atmosphere and outside patio area. Overall, I will definitely come back.

+Customer service was excellent. +The 8oz chicken fried chicken and two sides ($16.00) was delicious. -The large beef and bean chili with rice and onions ($9.50) was okay. -The complimentary bread was meh. If they improve the complimentary bread, this place would be 5-stars.

Let's come right to the point Shrimp étouffée delicious good flavor lots of vegetable In order to make it more flavorful, you do have to put their sauce the hot sauce, one of the best you can even use Tabasco fried deviled eggs oh my God, so delicious and then we had vegetable soup all this food you need to add sauce to it to bring out the flavor go ahead enjoy that southern style. Best food you won't regret it. very reasonable price good quality good quality

This is the best location for Treebeards thanks to the ample parking and the hours. The food is excellent. If you're sitting in the bar area there is a waiter, but otherwise it is a counter service and then the food is brought to you. You can get your own tea and fountain drinks and also silverware. The red beans and rice are a staple and something I get every time I am in town.

Treebeards was amazing! Beautiful Ambience Lots of Good Choices Amazing Desserts. A nice spread for a reasonable price and lots of parking! They have a garage. We went here for our couples dinner and stayed until closing time, the service was quick and easy and the food was delicious, the wait staff was nice and accommodating, only thing is you have to remember to order before you sit. Worth a try!

I got the daily special chicken fried chicken with dirty rice and French fries. The chicken was crunchy and tender enough to cut with a fork. The dirty rice has banana peppers or some sort of yellow pepper that I not a big fan of but still was very good. French fries were fresh and crispy, if it was hit with a little more salt fresh out the grease it would be perfect, still good. The gravy was also delicious. Plus they gave complimentary bread, although I did not try it. Overall I'd give it a 7.7/10 for taste and 10/10 for price. This meal was only $11.20 and with tip $14.50!

Ordering was a breeze. We sat our self and waited maybe 15min if not less then our food was served. All the staff were nice. Love the indoor / outdoor seating. Fried deviled eggs.....over priced but the flavor was a 10/10 Mac n cheese 9/10 Greens 8/10 Bbq shrimp and grits 8/10 Shrimp étouffée 9/10 The food needed to be served hot and not room temp.

I wasn't sure what to expect as this was an impromptu visit and I hadn't looked at the menu in advance. I had the chicken pot pie, green beans and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious!! Good, solid southern food. I'll definitely be back to try some more.

I have a super helpful Yelp Elite mentor who lives in Houston. This individual says Treebeards is one of the three top foodie hot spots in all of Houston. That's good enough for me. My Yelp mentor says the service is 5-Star. Like all Yelp Elite folks, my Yelp mentor says, the atmosphere is perfect" Five Lone Stars! At Treebeards, every meal means time to celebrate! I used to go here all the time downtown. I haven't been in a long while so when they put this up on the meeting place for post church lunch I was excited. Now I probably went a bit overboard in ordering but I wanted my kid to sample a few things. The only thing we didn't get that I used to always order was the red beans and rice with sausage link. It's good but I only used to order it because it used to be the cheapest thing on the menu. My kid didn't like red beans and rice though (last time I got it at a food truck) so I decided to pass. Instead I ordered the seafood gumbo (a bit bland - their branded hot sauce helped), fried catfish with étouffée topping (the best of the lot) and a side of tartar, and the jambalaya (also a bit bland). For sides we got mashed potatoes (they have the variety that has chunks of potatoes and skin), jalapeño corn bread (a bit dry), squash casserole (also kinda dry), and fries (nice - best side of the lot). For desert we got the Italian cream cake (still fire), yellow cake (kinda dry but ok if you take a bite with the frosting), buttercake (super sweet like I remember it) and banana pudding (which was arguably the best of the dessert bunch). The staff was super duper nice and not rushed like downtown. Overall the food was decent but not like I remember it downtown in the 90's. I think maybe eating is all about being in the moment. So while the nostalgia will live on I guess it'll never be quite the same.

We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!

We were sat relatively quick, I would put reservation for this place if I were you, but when we came it wasn't too busy. We were sat and was greeted by our server, Fabian. The vibe was very nice, had the R&B jams in the background but wasn't overly loud to where you can't converse. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and it reflected all throughout the large windows of the restaurant. A+ for the ambiance. We started off with mimosa carafes for the table, great blend of juice and champagne. No complaints at all about the mimosas. He started us with a round of biscuits, with butter & jelly on the side. Would give it overall rating of 8.5/10, I actually liked them they weren't too sweetened like other biscuits. For food, I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles, turkey links, and side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. The food was good, above average in my opinion. The buttermilk waffles weren't overly crisp but still had nice warm flavor (8.7/10), turkey links were satisfactory (8.1/10), and the mac & cheese was above average as well, not out of this world but pretty good nonetheless (8.0/10). In my opinion, I give this restaurant a 5-stars, not just because of the food (4 stars), but just the overall experience. The ambiance was great, our server was hilarious, kept us entertained the entire time, and they were convenient nonetheless. They do 20% auto-gratuity as well. Was a calmer brunch with a good vibe, something that is very underrated in a city like Houston. Maybe seasoning them a little more, cutting them in halves, and charring them would've done the job. Peach cobbler was so yummy. I loveeeee how they have offer for preferences with the peach cobbler (more crust, more filling, or neutral) because I personally love more crust. The main highlight was the 5 star service by Eric! He's enough to make me want to go back! I'll definitely ask for him every time! 2nd highlight is that cornbread because whew...bussin. Pair it with the collard greens and that's a five-star combo all day. I was undecided on what to order, so I went with the cajun stuffed chicken exactly as it comes, along with mac & cheese and collard greens. The meal wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either. The chicken, I'd probably skip next time, I took most to go and it went bad cause I couldn't do it. Mac wasn't anything to write home about either but again, them greens and cornbread are absolutely getting reordered. My friend ordered the key lime pie and enjoyed it, so that seemed to be another solid choice. But back to the real MVP of the visit which was our server, Eric. He made menu suggestions without being pushy, kept my glass full the entire meal, was kind, patient, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. That level of service is becoming harder to find, and it definitely elevated the experience. Overall, the food landed somewhere in the middle for me, but Eric's service easily pushed this visit to four stars. I'll definitely be back...mainly for that cornbread lol.

Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Looking forward to celebrating my birthday here in June!

I visited yesterday with a few friends for the first time. The restaurant itself was very…read moreimpressive and clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.
