I used to love coming here with friends and wanted to see what they had new on the menu. I brought my niece and per usual this is a great place for a family. The counter service was great. The lady who helped us was wonderful. We sat on the patio as it was a nice day. I tried the lemon poppyseed pancakes and looking at them they look like cornbread but they are soft on the inside with nice crispy edges. These pancakes were delicious. Let me tell you something as a Yelp Elite that has been to this restaurant at least 78 times... this year. There is a reason this restaurant is thriving, visit in this context and you will see it's GLORY. I have kept this place to myself but I have to speak up now. This is the ULTIMATE family dining space. You are literally overlooking a large green space while your children frolic and blow bubbles, kick soccerballs, hunt for caterpillars or whateverrrr while you enjoy lunch, brunch or dinner with or without live musical entertainment. This place is legit. The food, is family friendly... you want a pizza - it's good, you want a burger - its good, you want a glass of wine so you can unwind while the kids have the time of their lives... and God said it is good! This is not the best food in Houston, it may not have fancy steak or an extensive wine list... but we Houstonians in the area know why we bring our families here. Still, it was great. I also ordered the tomato basil soup, and that was where I was disappointed. The tomato was very mild and the soup was overall kind of bland. Not sure if maybe it was an off day for the soup, but yeah not ordering that again. I ordered a sandwich, and after I had finished eating, I found a hair in my food (it was very clearly not mine). I let the employee clearing my plate know about it, not because I wanted a replacement or a refund, since I was already done eating, but so they would be aware and hopefully prevent it from happening again. Another employee came over and asked if I wanted a discount. I told her no, because that wasn't the point, i was just disappointed that there was a hair in my food. Instead of apologizing, she told me that next time I should show them the hair (which is what i did?). The way she said it came across as if she thought I was making it up, for politely bringing it to their attention, which is completely unacceptable. She raved about everything and my pasta was wow flavorful! I'm a spice love, so it wasn't as spicy as I'd like, but surprisingly, my pasta was gluten free. It's crispy on top, and the vanilla ice cream scoop with chocolate on top is the perfect addition. It is a really cute spot located in the center of City Center. I love sitting outside because it faces the grass and water/fire. And sometimes there's live music which is so peaceful! The service is pretty quick! I was about to ask if we had done something wrong, but you never know -- then they might get mad and spit in your food. I don't understand why people have to treat customers this way. This is the last time I'm coming here. Terrible service. We asked what comes with the Home Slice since there were no menus available, and he told us to "look it up online." JUST WOW. To make it worse, since we live in City Centre, we had forgotten to mention the "neighborhood discount." When we told him, his first reaction was to say "shit," then he aggressively hit the cancel button on the screen, and after that just said, "ok, done." Located in the busy area of City Center, the restaurant is always crowded. There are plenty of seatings inside and at the patio. There is free garage parking at higher levels. There is also valet parking or paid parking on the ground level garage. Paid street parking is also available. My family came here for lunch. We had the kids pasta, kids chicken tenders, white chicken parm pasta, super crab cakes, and white chocolate bread pudding. Kids meals come with a side of French fries, sweet potato fries, quinoa salad or fruit cup. The meals also include fountain drink, juice or milk. The kids meals were of decent portions, and everything was good. The chicken in the white chicken parm pasta wasn't tender. The pasta was tasteless too. The spaghetti was cut up into short strands too which made it hard to eat using a fork. The crab cakes were ok. They were cooked right but needed a little more seasoning. The slaw was delicious though. The white chocolate bread pudding was good. The custard was smooth and of the right sweetness. The ice cream on the top was a great addition. Overall, the dish was a delight. There is no wait staff in the restaurant. Customers have to wait in line to order their food. After ordering, customers will get a number tag then proceed to find a table. The food would be served to the table but customers have to get drinks from the drink dispenser which is next to the cutlery. I would go back to try other food. read more

This is one of those times and I probably should have known better than to order a burger. The burger was well cooked, medium rare as asked, it just didn't have a lot of flavor. The sweet potato fries were solid. Strangely addicting as I kept eating them, but at the same time I felt like they were just average in flavor. It's a counter service place which I like. It actually keeps the cost down a bit as my burger and fries were only about $13. If it was a little cooler outside I would have opted to sit outside as the patio looked nice. I was here for a business meeting so I didn't snap a lot of photos. If I was in the area I would go back, especially for lunch. This place is located right in the center of the little park in City Center. Parking is not always easy to find but the garage is not too far from there. My experience wasn't that great here because of their customer service. We found a lot of employees just standing around by the counter and not one was eager to take our order or even refill the space where they have their menus, it was actually empty even when there were so many servers right there. I assumed it was a fast casual salad spot but it has a bigger menu than expected; there's appetizers, burgers, tacos, salads, and pasta. We got the fried cauliflower wings in a sweet sauce, which was solid. The burger was a bit meh but cooked decently. The flavor was just below what you expect a cheeseburger to be. The sweet potato fries were cooked well and the side Caesar salad was also decent. Prices were between the $10-15 dollar range for most of the dishes.
