They are not friendly, they seem to be miserable at work, the service was minimal at best, and they act as if they are being bothered if you ask for anything. A true neighborhood gem. We are regulars here and the food and service are consistently outstanding! They serve classic American comfort dishes with very generous portions and great drinks suitable for everybody. Vibe is clean and casual, and the patio is dog friendly. The restaurant is frequented by the locals in the Tanglewood area and you can really feel it in the vibe and warm service. Our favorite foods are the small house salad (technically a starter but large enough to serve as a meal), spinach artichoke dip, basket of fries, Cobb salad with fried chicken, petite steak and eggs, egg salad with bacon sandwich, bacon blue cheese hamburger, and chocolate cake. The strawberry lemonade is excellent and the drip coffee is solid. Don't sleep on the garlic ranch. The portions are so big here that each regular meal usually ends up being split into two for a leftover meal or to be shared at the restaurant (they can even split individual plates if you ask). Their style of fries is one of my personal favorites - stringy thin and crispy fries with Cajun seasoning. read more

This was the best Barnaby's I've ever visited due to the staff. I cannot express how kind, friendly and attentive everyone was. We thought our waiter should be working at a high-end steakhouse because he was so on point! As always, food was very plentiful with huge, tasty salads. We both had enough to take home. Love their tasty fries with BBQ sauce! This is a newer location and looks very fresh and cute. Cozy at night with a nice wine list! And patio area too for the pups. read more

The service was great! The food was delicious. The ladies room was clean, and they had complimentary mouth wash with disposable cups available too. Fancy! There's also a baby changer. Plenty of parking! The inside of the restaurant is spacious. Lovely decorations. I tried their Luna pepperoni pizza and it was tasty! I ordered for myself the meatloaf with grilled asparagus - the sauce on the meatloaf was sweeter than I'm used to but the meatloaf was very savory so it was a nice combination of flavors. This was my first time coming to this location. Barnaby's has great breakfast/brunch/lunch and is yummy and affordable. I always enjoy the club sandwich even though it's painfully messy to eat. The best! Everything I've ordered here has been delicious and the employees are always smiling. Ingredients are fresh, and I'm not sure how they make their vinaigrette but it's sooo good! Stopped by for brunch with my friend and his kids and the host was very off-putting from the moment we walked in. They dismissed us until I spoke up as if they couldn't see us standing there. Then tried to sit us by the bathroom, with two kids, which was an absolute NO. We asked to be seated in the "patio" area and ordered right before brunch was over. The food had no taste and the service sucked. Our waiter was decent and the only polite person there but the experience overall was upsetting. You'd think people would be nicer especially when they see you with kids. Sigh. read more

How have I not reviewed my local Barnaby's yet?! We live nearby and have been regular diners since they opened this locale. We love it, our daughter loves it, dogs love it, everyone loves it. Since it's newer than the rest, the interior is a bit fresher, the paint a bit brighter, and the décor is a bit more modern than some of the old staples. Beyond the interior, there's plenty of outdoor cafe seating, and they're VERY dog friendly. The food has always been great, and the portions are massive! If you order a full sized salad, prepare to eat salad for that meal and 1-2 leftover meals to follow. You can split most dishes with a tablemate and be equally full, FYI. They also offer beer and wine, and have a happy hour on Tuesdays where they're all $3. (Check if that's still happening if this is an old review. Hello future!) The servers have always been prompt and friendly. They're happy to help navigate the menu, take special requests, and after a couple visits, you quickly feel like a welcomed regular. I'm no stranger to Barnabys, I've been many times for Breakfast and Burgers and I'm a fan. I decided this time to try a new item. The chicken fried steak was moist on the inside and crunchy and not overwhelming saturated with gravy it was served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I had to ask for a to-go box from the get go. It's been awhile since I've had a chicken fried steak so this was a hearty treat. I recommend it highly and our server Randon was great, funny and very attentive to our table. Overall the staff very helpful amongst each other making sure that as a whole, very nice and on point with customer service. I returned to Barnaby's on Fountainview in Houston for the second time today. While serving my entrée, a large container of cocktail sauce slid off the plate and onto my jacket. The floor and chair took a hit as well. It's in the low 40's in Houston. The waiter handed me a bill at the end of service. There was no attempt to correct their error. Management later informed me of their policy, which is for the patron (me) to return to the establishment with a dry cleaning bill. Question, who would return to an establishment that makes you leave with no outside garment in 40 degree temperatures after they ruined the one you wore there and there's no showing of any appreciation for patronizing their business? 40 degrees is considered very cold for Houstonians by the way. Needless to say, I will never go back. Oh yeah, and the Friday special lacked any flavor whatsoever. That was money awfully spent. read more

The food is premium quality and upscale restaurant quality with large portions. The presence rivals any five star restaurant and the variety is incredible. All this in a fast food restaurant with all the ambiance of the best steak houses. Still maintains a fun and delightful atmosphere. I'm in utter shock I've never reviewed this place, even though we've been coming here since it opened (and for a decade to the other locations!). It's a bit cleaner and fresh-looking than the other locations. Always loved the staff here, and the menu even more. My kids love Barnaby's too! Their honey mustard is made in-house and my favorite sauce for all the things! Their burgers are great. My favorite salad is the fattoush, and the brownies and carrot cake are never a disappointment! read more

The food is usually pretty solid here. The fries were a little undercooked for my liking & too salty but still decent. The pesto chicken salad sandwich is always a hit though. Service was quick and I love that they have a dog friendly patio. Some of the items on the menu are a tad over priced but their portions are pretty large. One big complaint I have is that they only have canned soda, no fountain drinks. read more

I've been going to Barnaby's - this location and others - and it's usually a good experience. Unfortunately I cannot recommend after this latest dinner experience. I'm vegetarian and this usually isn't a problem. I ordered their lasagna and as soon as it hits the table there's meat in it. The server then mentions Barnaby's no longer serves the veggie version. I request an Impossible patty burger. The rest of my dining party finishes eating by the time I get my burger. And it's a regular burger, not alternative meat patty. I wasn't told this until I had taken a bite. By this time I'm deeply upset, and honestly I don't trust any staff to respect my health concerns or dietary restrictions. They did offer to bring me another meal, which I didn't finish (veggie pizza) and tossed later. Overall, I would have liked to send a note to management to ask that better procedures be put in place for serving clients with dietary restrictions, but there isn't a place for that on their website. It was an upsetting experience and will not return for future visits. read more

Great spot for casual dining! We went to grab lunch with family during our trip to Houston. Parking is easy as they're located in a plaza. We had no wait time and staff was very attentive. I ordered the bacon and blue burger and the falafel burger. Both incredible choices although if you had to choose between one or the other I would choose the falafel. They offer regular Fries, waffle fries, and sweet potato fries. Tried the regular which were good but not great, and the sweet potato fries which were amazing For dessert I recommend the brownie with vanilla ice cream, amazing choice. Burger cooked to perfection and very big plates. Go when you're very hungry! They have games outside for kids and a relaxed ambience. We went during lunch time. read more
