Got there at 11:00am and place was empty, but within 30 minutes it was packed. Table enjoyed brunch items - honey biscuit chicken sandwich, fish tacos (only on Fridays), and Texas egg scramble. My husband and I visited Tapesters Grill many years ago when it first opened, we had a pretty bad experience with the food so never returned. Having read some positive reviews on Nextdoor , we thought we would give it a 2nd try, happy to find a good local eatery in our neighborhood. So disappointing ! Without an ounce of ambiance. The clue should have been there was only one table occupied at 7pm . We both ordered burgers , mine the buffalo one. Once arrived both burgers were overcooked , neither juicy and pretty dry. The buns are dense and not at all tasty. We ordered a side of Mac and cheese which was fair and the French fries were hot. We drank water with one glass of house of white wine . Our bill was $44.00. When the waitress asked how our meal was , I told her I could not eat my burger as it was overcooked. I ate some fries and macaroni , left my burger and bun. There was an apology but no other offer of a refund for poor quality food. We will not return .We will never recommend. read more

I was looking for a breakfast spot in the Meyerland area and Tapester's Grill was one of the top rated places. It's been around for a little bit and the reviews speak for themselves. My date and I arrived for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. The restaurant anchors a little shopping strip so parking was easy that day. I was expecting more of a crowd but I also could have missed it since it was closer to lunch when we arrived. The hours do vary so make sure and check times before coming. This is an order at the counter kind of spot. We had to let a few people pass us as we were undecided like usual. They do have some pastries on display and their coffee is on the counter for self service. Customer service was friendly and helpful. I'm a big breakfast guy so my eyes went straight to that part of the menu. I saw their famous Stickee Cinnamon Bun and had to get that. I was very excited for it because I am a cinnamon roll aficionado. Spoiler alert, it really wasn't a traditional cinnamon roll. It wasn't bad, but it was more cakey and had a very caramel forward taste to it. Just not what I was hoping for. My entree of choice was the eggs benedict but I substituted crispy chicken for the ham. Their version is served with a buttermilk biscuit instead of an English muffin. I thought it was a pretty solid benny. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was done just right. The side of hash browns were cooked like I like. They were crispy on the outside but still had some fluffiness on the inside. They could of used a little more seasoning though. My date got the huevos rancheros. I thought this was an excellent dish. I typically never look at that on a menu, but this dish will have me considering it in the future. We shared a single pancake which was a generous size on it's own. I'd get it again. We washed it all down with Katz coffee which you have a few options to pick from. They do have a nice selection of adult breakfast beverages, coffees and teas as well. Met a few girlfriends for lunch for the first time - really enjoyed it - definitely a repeat! Our table split a carafe of mimosas, had an iced coffee and ice tea. Our group had the truffle fries and fried pickles, the cali chicken sandwich and mac and cheese, and the fried rib eye steak. ALL DELISH! It was served with a hot, warm roll which was good. The restaurant was fairly empty which was great for our party of 16. Easy to switch seats to catch up with friends. Picked up food to have at home. The smothered chicken was fine. The other food: squash casserole and mashed potatoes were not seasoned and not good. The "gravy" was flour, some viscous moisture, and absolutely nothing else. The salad was chopped iceberg with a few croutons. This is the 3rd time I have had Tapesters, the other 2 times in the last 4 years have been just as disappointing. We were out-of-towners looking for a spot in the area to eat a good hamburger, and have a beer. We were delighted to find this place on yelp. It was very Clean, plain, simple, relaxing ambiance. . service was patient with us old people's questioning. they explained their specialty drinks and food items in detail. Even gave us a few draft beer tastes. We opt for the specialty frozen mimosa topper w port wine!! Goody!! Our food was Very delicious. I ordered a cheese burger. Juicy, flavorful, homemade bun. YumO! Heard about this place from friends who eat there often. For me, it's everything I was hoping for. The food selection was great and had lots of sandwiches I was considering. However, when I found out they do brunch everyday, I went with the corned beef hash and eggs for lunch. Some of the best I've had highlighted by large pieces of grilled meat. Awesome! The staff, from the greetings when you walk in -to the owner dropping by each table could not have been more friendly. This is definitely the type of place I wish was in MY neighborhood! Everything was delicious. A hidden gem. I've passed this place a few times and never thought to stop. I'm so glad I was in the area and it came up on my Yelp search. I had the honey butter biscuit chicken sandwich and it was so good and so big! You can't even hold it all at once to bite it. I had to cut it into at least 5 pieces to eat the whole thing. It had LAYERS!!! Each layer just as delicious as the last. This is such a beautiful place to be lowkey in and enjoy a private, intimate conversation, or just enjoy great food and vibe. We stopped for breakfast at 9:45 Tuesday 1-23. We ordered at the front door. My wife said her coffee was excellent. It went downhill from there. I ordered an eggs Benedict and a fountain beverage. I got a Dr Pepper but the taste was not anything like the Dr Pepper that I drink gallons of. When my eggs Benedict arrived it the poached eggs were so overcooked they resembled hard boiled eggs. They also had been cooked with way too much vinegar and the vinegar as the only noticeable flavor. Trying to wash Don the over cooked eggs I went back to get a new fountain drink. I tried their house brand cola but it came out the color of mild tea. I tried their black cherry flavor. It came out yellow and tasted awful. I gave up and left the restaurant never to return again. read more

For $15, it's practically 2 meals. I would however not order it spicy again since the flavor of the actual chicken biscuit got drowned under all the tabesco. The speed of the staff are great and they're nice. You go in and order at the front and then seat yourself. The breakfast tacos ($13) were pretty good too. The tortilla chip strips add a good crunchy texture. Although if you make a decent breakfast taco at home yourself, I would pass on this. I've been here a handful of times, enough to get a sense of most of this place's offerings. In summary, its value is quite par but can deliver if you're seriously into American style food/brunch. The Salmon Bagel is delivered with a side of Capers and is very generously portioned. A hearty dosing of hash Browns accompanies the bagel on the side, and is sure to leave any one full. Two smaller folks can probably split this dish as well. Of lesser value was the breakfast tacos, which was $13.00 for three moderately sized tacos. However, the flavor was overwhelmingly lacking. No real spice, though the tortilla strips added an interesting crunch to the blandness. If you're after good tacos, you can do much, much better than here. Last, the honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich. This behemoth of a dish is literally the size of a human stomach and will easily feed two adults. It left me feeling sick for the rest of the day though, so the cholesterol/carb content must be astronomically high. Service is excellent and competitive for any American brunch restaurant. They were able to accommodate a very large party of 15+ on no notice. The ambience is that is that of a cozy hole in the wall spot with sports playing on tv's in the background. read more

Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try since it's dog friendly and I prefer to bring my pooch along with the fam on the weekends. They have a small outdoor patio in the front for couples (tables seat two) and a larger patio out behind the building with larger tables for larger groups. As for the food, it was ok. I had the Beechnut breakfast. Presentation wasn't great and everything was stacked on top of each other on the plate which I don't prefer with runny eggs being on top of crunchy hash browns. The bacon wasn't cooked very well which I did not like but my dog did :) All in all, it has decent food, is convenient and is dog friendly so if those are the qualities you are looking for in a brunch spot head on over. read more

I haven't been to Tapester's Grill in a couple of years because of a bad experience. We went today because my son wanted to support a local business, especially after last week's awful weather. Glad he talked me into it. Unlike my previous experience, the service seemed more customer oriented this time. The brunch burger, huevos ranchero and sticky bun were fantastic. Everything was delicious and came out quickly despite the restaurant being busy with dine-in and take-out orders. I saw a FB review from a couple of months ago stating that the restaurant's food had no flavor. My son suggests that the reviewer and his dining companion(s) get tested for coronavirus. read more
