This is what I would consider to be an upscale dining restaurant with a unique assortment of specialty dishes. Ordered hot honey chicken bites, Brussels sprouts as starters and they both were excellent. In fact everything was excellent. Greek salad, Sonoma chicken salad on wheat with orzo salad and the chicken skillet pot pie. All very good. Neat feel to the building and kept impeccably clean. Specialty cocktails, happy hours etc... Would expect to find this restaurant in the heart of First Colony or in premium dining downtown. So great to see upscale dining in Bellaire. Found prices to be very fair given quality. I have one very important question... where has this place been hiding?! Because how am I just now discovering a pot roast this good? I treated myself to two onion rings and I regret absolutely nothing because they were worth every bite. I had the Bistro Chipotle Cheeseburger, and it was pretty good, but I was expecting a little more chipotle flavor. It could definitely use a bit more chipotle sauce to make it stand out. The real surprise was the Fire-Roasted Brussels Sprouts. They were amazing and easily one of the best appetizers I've had in a while. I highly recommend ordering them. The highlight of the meal, though, was the Poblano Chicken (aka the chicken fried chicken). It was outstanding and easily the best dish I tried. I'd recommend it over the burger without hesitation. In my opinion, it's even better than the chicken fried chicken at Mia's Table or Grace's. The only downside was the service. It was a bit slow, and our server wasn't very attentive, so there's definitely room for improvement there. The server gave us ample time to order as we sat chatting for a bit, and we sat after lunch for a bit. This is a very pretty local restaurant - it is well populated by the locals, and people are also coming around from nearby towns. Our meals came out in about 10 minutes and the only think that was better than the food presentation was the taste! - nice portions too. No photos of the ice tea but it was also very good. Upon opening the door, I was loving the interior of the restaurant. There was a bench surrounded by fake flowers for customers to take pretty pictures. The bar area was on the right. I had the fire-roasted Brussels sprouts, and Sun-Dried Tomato Lemon Pasta. The Brussels sprouts were crispy, but the sweet chili sauce didn't had any spiciness to it. The lemon pasta was flavorful. I I live so close by that I was excited for this restaurant, but I am so disappointed. Cute bar fancy little drinks, but if you're hungry, I've tried the meat. Okay this place is cute and has a lot to offer both on the menu and in unique experiences. The interior is really cuteee. Also interesting note they have a child's play room. The menu is very diverse and has something for every pallete whether you're vegan, pescatarian or a carnivore. They also have an array of beverages to choose from both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Our waiter was great and very helpful with choosing apps and entry selections. We ordered the jalapeno hummus with pita bread and I found it to be pretty bland. This is a fun local Bellaire restaurant with a lot of local and personal touches by the owner. The dishes are well made and are very filling if you're looking for entrees, not to mention they have a happy hour drink and food menu. I love the indoor/outdoor concept of the place as well. So we came in for lunch on a Monday with a another family for a party of 4 adults and 6 kids. So The '401 has a Monday special where kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. You can definitely tell this place, while a great brunch and date spot, also caters to families. There is even a dedicated play room for the kids so that the adults can actually have some conversation. Fortunately, we were there early so our large party of kids didn't have to fight with other kids inside. I really liked the Sun-Dried Tomato Lemon Pasta and The Chicken '401. While we had a brand new server who made a few mistakes, we could tell he was really trying and he was very polite and courteous. I haven't come here in a while, since 2018 when I heard this place first opened until a co-worker brought up how good the food was when they went for lunch. So my co-workers went out for lunch to try the food and I really enjoyed everything! We ordered some shishito peppers for an appetizer and artichoke dip. I ordered the shrimp pasta which was really good. The noodles were al dente and I enjoyed the artichoke dip. I'm giving 4 star because the waitress we had didn't really check on us until after we finished and I finally got a water refill by the time the bill came out. I wish she had come by earlier because it would have been great to ask for red chili peppers. I had never heard of this restaurant before, my friends mom held her annual ladies Christmas gathering here this past weekend. This was a last minute reservation as the restaurant we had previously picked had a mix up with our reservation. I was so impressed that the restaurant was able to accommodate our party of 12. Our waiter was so nice and friendly and all of our food came out in a timely manner and everything came out correct. The food was delicious and the restaurant was very spacious. I'm obsessed with their Brussel sprouts! Everything was so good. Their carrot cake was delicious and such a good size for several of us to share. Will definitely will be going back. I actually would rate this restaurant a 3.5. A group of three of us went on a Saturday at 11:30 am. It is a much more casual, easygoing place than I expected but it made us all feel comfortable. My friends had a Oaxaca Old Fashioned and Lemon Drop that they truly enjoyed. We shared Fire Roasted Brussel Sprouts which were great- not a lot of oil and very flavorful. From beyond burgers to cauliflower crusts to the standard brussel sprouts, it's an impressive array of stuff. Don't sleep on the protein bowl if possible. bs up. I think the protein bowl is a good choice, are hearty, yet light. Beyond that, the burgers are solid despite the small'ish patty. I have been pleased with a majority of the brunch choices, especially the omelettes. The lemon pasta and the cajun chickpeas are fun. While their pizzas are okay for snacking, I think the quesadillas are a safer bet. The mac and cheese is close to an abomination, which is really just some sauce and penne pasta. Prices are average maybe overpriced with the amount of protein you get. My friend got a chicken sandwich and the breading was too thick, she gave 3/5. Fries were also soggy but seasoned well. My other friends enjoyed their Philly cheesesteak sandwich and chicken 401. 4/5 I got the seafood etouffee and was actually surprised at the amount of crawfish. I wish the etouffee and rice were separate because it felt like bits of rice and seafood swimming in the stew. There were also only 2 measly pieces of garlic bread that was not enough.
