I think that was a one-off over the past three years. It does get a bit cramped in there but the line does move at a decent pace. I love Frank's pizza, the food is always fresh and fast. If you go after 12 you will be standing in a line so be prepared. It's on the smaller side but they do have seating, you can enjoy your pizza in the restaurant. The sad part is the pizza could actually be good if made correctly. I ordered a large supreme; had so many toppings but they were undercooked. The pizza had literally almost zero sauce! It came hot but then I had to wait 10-15 minutes longer for the spinach lasagna. Like their timing was crazy off. Spinach lasagne was supposed to have ricotta. Be mindful that there's NO PARKING! There's two spots in the front.. but I'm pretty sure the staff snags that up as soon as they get here. There's a Parking lot around the corner and that mf is 18.23 for 10 hours.. so honestly either take a Lyft, get dropped off or have someone waiting on you cause ugh! Excellent pizza. And I felt like I was in NYC. We came here on a whim on an early Saturday night (around 8 p.m.), though this joint has been on our radar for years. The atmosphere is somewhat dingy, but not in a dirty way. Rather, it just felt like they spend so much time turning out wonderful pies that they really don't have time to touch up the paint. Seating is limited. We found a table in the loft, and it was just fine. It's counter service here, and the young lady who took our order was polite and efficient. Parking, by the way, is on the street or in one of the nearby garages. Most importantly, the pizza here is really good. The atmosphere reminded me of so many pizza joints in NYC, as did the pizza -- thin, foldable crust and a tomato-forward sauce. The cheese is top notch, as is the uber-thin pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. Slices are available, and seemingly popular, but we ordered a whole pie. I understand that this place is open until the crack of dawn for all the bar-goers. During our visit, however, we were the only customers without kids -- or infants. Yep. It was Romper Room for sure. I waited on hold for 30 minutes and no one picked up. We seem to believe they are trying to use their DoorDash more than riding the bikes now. That was the only way we could order the pizza was on DoorDash. Then we added the "pizza cookie" that was $10 which we assumed would be a cookie skillet but was mistaken because we were give two pre packaged cookies...added the hot honey for $1.50 and it was a packet a little bigger than a ketchup packet...pizza was still good but not worth the price through DoorDash. There were only two types of pizza ready to go, cheese and meat. Everything else had a 20 min wait. The cheese was super stretchy and bread was soft and thin. Frank's is a good pizza place in downtown Houston. We walked from our hotel and ordered from the restaurant counter. I was amazed how many people stopped in for a slice or two. There was a line most of the time while we were waiting for our pizza to be cooked. We considered staying at eating in, but it was pretty tight quarters inside. They have two small dining in areas, one at the back of the restaurant on a small mezzanine and the other where you enter at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the meat special medium pizza. It was only $16. Wow, great value! The pizza was in good condition after our 6 block walk. The crust was chewy, not crunchy. It could have cooked 1-2 more minutes to give more stability to the undercarriage (crust). The sauce, cheese, and toppings tasted fresh and were tasty. We were in Houston to see the Astros, and heard from the Hotel we were staying at that Frank's was THE pizza spot to hit up after the game. We figured it would be pretty busy, so we decided to phone in our order while we walked there. Was just about a 1/2 mile from the stadium, so not bad at all. We were told it would be about 20-25 minutes for our order, and by the time we arrived, we still had about 10 minutes remaining. It did take a bit longer than what we were told, however, they were VERY busy. The place is definitely small when you first walk in, and somewhat of a tight space. I did see they had an upstairs for those choosing to eat there, as there were just a couple tables available right when you walk in along with bar seats. Was VERY noisy and VERY crowded. We ordered 2 medium pepperoni pizzas and an order of garlic bread. The pizza was pretty good, however, we felt the garlic bread didn't quite "make the cut". It seemed pretty bland and dry. Would we come here again? ABSOLUTELY! The pizza was def better than your basic pizza chains. My only suggestions would be to add a bit more "umpff" to the garlic bread, and add a "Pick Up" sign and spot for those who do to-go orders. Took my husband to Frank's for the first time. Safe to say he loved it. We got the large meat special pizza and had 4 slices each. The pizza tastes amazing fresh. They normally have pizza slices to grab and go ,but if you want anything more you will have to wait. The wait can get pretty long as they are making the pizza fresh. We went on a Saturday night which is normally a busy time. They do close at 3am on Saturdays. Well known pizza spot downtown, so there is usually always a line. Like I said earlier , you can grab the pizza and go. However , there are places to sit but limited. Downstairs can get a little crowded , so I would suggest sitting upstairs if you can. read more

Man, Frank's Pizza is a downtown institution. I'm not downtown as often as I used to be, but if you were in the area late at night, there was no better place to grab a slice. Even the carriage drivers coming from Discovery Green make an option to stop there and pick up slices if you're interested in doing so. The pizzas are New York style, with large slices at reasonable prices. They're a bit greasy at times, but it's well worth it. You can grab a table and order a whole pie cooked to order, but most people grab a slice and get it in that not-so-little triangle box. You don't have to worry about the pizza by the slice, because enough people are ordering it that they're churning out new pies every few minutes and you know you're always getting something fresh. With other chain restaurants trying to imitate true New York pizza in their menu offerings as of late, they'd all be well served to taking a visit to Franks and seeing how it's done. read more

It takes a lot of work to mess up pizza and they in no way did that but it just didn't live up to the hype for me that I saw on past Yelp reviews.
