Excellent pizza. And I felt like I was in NYC. We came here on a whim on an early Saturday night (around 8 p.m.), though this joint has been on our radar for years. The atmosphere is somewhat dingy, but not in a dirty way. Rather, it just felt like they spend so much time turning out wonderful pies that they really don't have time to touch up the paint. Seating is limited. We found a table in the loft, and it was just fine. It's counter service here, and the young lady who took our order was polite and efficient. Parking, by the way, is on the street or in one of the nearby garages. Most importantly, the pizza here is really good. The atmosphere reminded me of so many pizza joints in NYC, as did the pizza -- thin, foldable crust and a tomato-forward sauce. The cheese is top notch, as is the uber-thin pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. Slices are available, and seemingly popular, but we ordered a whole pie. I understand that this place is open until the crack of dawn for all the bar-goers. During our visit, however, we were the only customers without kids -- or infants. Yep. It was Romper Room for sure. Came in on a Friday evening to get the boudin pizza ofc. The place has a pizza place style with an upstairs as well, which is a little less busy and can be more intimate I'd say. Be mindful that there's NO PARKING! There's two spots in the front.. but I'm pretty sure the staff snags that up as soon as they get here. There's a Parking lot around the corner and that mf is 18.23 for 10 hours.. so honestly either take a Lyft, get dropped off or have someone waiting on you cause ugh! My pizza cost 18.50 and took about 15 min. To make and for a medium it sure looks like a small! The pizza wasn't bad, but it was dry, maybe I should have asked for extra sauce.. Service was fine, waited inline to place my order, no issues. There is no ambiance and limited seating, however there is good pizza and that's what matters. After going to two bars, my friends and I had the munchies around 1 am on a saturday. So we came here! It was extremely packed yet still manageable and had open seatings. There was also security on site. It was super busy so we just picked a slice of pizza that was ready to go and went upstairs to chill and eat. There were only two types of pizza ready to go, cheese and meat. Everything else had a 20 min wait. The cheese was super stretchy and bread was soft and thin. But I would like more sauce and more topping variety. I really liked how they can sell by the slice and had ready to go boxes if we wanted to eat elsewhere instead. But it was like $5 a slice. Thinking back, it would had been more affordable if we just bought a whole pizza and shared that. There were also napkins on every table. Frank's is a good pizza place in downtown Houston. We walked from our hotel and ordered from the restaurant counter. I was amazed how many people stopped in for a slice or two. There was a line most of the time while we were waiting for our pizza to be cooked. We considered staying at eating in, but it was pretty tight quarters inside. They have two small dining in areas, one at the back of the restaurant on a small mezzanine and the other where you enter at the front of the restaurant. We ordered the meat special medium pizza. It was only $16. Wow, great value! The pizza was in good condition after our 6 block walk. The crust was chewy, not crunchy. It could have cooked 1-2 more minutes to give more stability to the undercarriage (crust). The sauce, cheese, and toppings tasted fresh and were tasty. We added red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese to spice and jazz it up. My wife and I really enjoyed the pizza. It was perfect for 2 people. read more

The food here is consistent, affordable and always hits the spot. The staff is friendly and gets the orders moving. Whenever I am around the area this pizzeria is always on my list of spots to eat. There are usually crowds, but they have upstairs seating. I like to sit up at the front and people watch all of the theatre crowds. We were in Houston to see the Astros, and heard from the Hotel we were staying at that Frank's was THE pizza spot to hit up after the game. We figured it would be pretty busy, so we decided to phone in our order while we walked there. Was just about a 1/2 mile from the stadium, so not bad at all. We were told it would be about 20-25 minutes for our order, and by the time we arrived, we still had about 10 minutes remaining. It did take a bit longer than what we were told, however, they were VERY busy. The place is definitely small when you first walk in, and somewhat of a tight space. I did see they had an upstairs for those choosing to eat there, as there were just a couple tables available right when you walk in along with bar seats. Was VERY noisy and VERY crowded. We ordered 2 medium pepperoni pizzas and an order of garlic bread. The pizza was pretty good, however, we felt the garlic bread didn't quite "make the cut". It seemed pretty bland and dry. Would we come here again? ABSOLUTELY! The pizza was def better than your basic pizza chains. My only suggestions would be to add a bit more "umpff" to the garlic bread, and add a "Pick Up" sign and spot for those who do to-go orders. Took my husband to Frank's for the first time. Safe to say he loved it. We got the large meat special pizza and had 4 slices each. The pizza tastes amazing fresh. They normally have pizza slices to grab and go ,but if you want anything more you will have to wait. The wait can get pretty long as they are making the pizza fresh. We went on a Saturday night which is normally a busy time. They do close at 3am on Saturdays. Well known pizza spot downtown, so there is usually always a line. Like I said earlier , you can grab the pizza and go. However , there are places to sit but limited. Downstairs can get a little crowded , so I would suggest sitting upstairs if you can. read more

Man, Frank's Pizza is a downtown institution. I'm not downtown as often as I used to be, but if you were in the area late at night, there was no better place to grab a slice. Even the carriage drivers coming from Discovery Green make an option to stop there and pick up slices if you're interested in doing so. The pizzas are New York style, with large slices at reasonable prices. They're a bit greasy at times, but it's well worth it. You can grab a table and order a whole pie cooked to order, but most people grab a slice and get it in that not-so-little triangle box. You don't have to worry about the pizza by the slice, because enough people are ordering it that they're churning out new pies every few minutes and you know you're always getting something fresh. With other chain restaurants trying to imitate true New York pizza in their menu offerings as of late, they'd all be well served to taking a visit to Franks and seeing how it's done. read more

It was well worth the wait and the hassle to find parking, as it is downtown. Expect a line, especially on Saturday night, but they move quickly if you are only ordering single slices (will take longer for boxes or non-pizza items). There is not much seating space for dinning in, but you will have better luck finding open tables upstairs than downstairs. Not sure how I feel about this one. Lots of great reviews so I was maybe expecting more than what it really is. When I came in, they had only a few flavors ready for grab and go - cheese, pepperoni, meat, and supreme. No unique flavors which was kind of a bummer. I really wanted to try something like Pesto Chicken or even Hawaiian. The pizza itself was OK. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. It takes a lot of work to mess up pizza and they in no way did that but it just didn't live up to the hype for me that I saw on past Yelp reviews. Prices were cheap enough so I didn't feel robbed though. Would I go back? Maybe. If it is late and I'm looking for something cheap and fast. For pizza by itself? Probably not. read more

Ordered a medium Frank's Scrumptious Supreme as you can't order a personal sized one on pickup orders. Picking up from Frank's can be a challenge, and they do mention a host of options for parking in the area since there are just three spots out front. Being from the NY-NJ-PA area, I have had a lot of great pizza. I was told that Frank's is in this league. The toppings were fresh and plentiful, but the vegetables were undercooked, particularly the onions. Sauce was good and flavorful. Pizza crust was undercooked and gummy. It is a very crowded place, and they had nothing but cheese and veggie left so I didn't get to try their other pizza types. The many years of serving drunk craving pizza has served them well, giving this place a fanbase amongst club goers, drunks, and late night enthusiasts (#1). The cliff note's version for folks seeking out New York pizza: If Frank's were actually located in NYC, this would likely rank on the lower end of the pizza spectrum. This is middle of the road to lesser New York pizza, but everything tastes good when drunk. It's not hard to pinpoint the differences, Frank's pizzas are of a slightly thicker end crust, the sauce to cheese ratio is way off, and the baking has a certain kind of Costco-esque broil finish to it. The conveyor oven that they use is stuff I would attribute to some of the national pizza chains, which appeals to a lot of the rest of the America. It's not bad pizza per se, but it's not in the same realm as some of the more typical pizza joints in any of the five boroughs. Also, what's up with the whole slices of tomatoes in the margherita? There is usually a good crowd here and the seating is limited to the upstairs and some counter / small table space in the front. Most patrons are going in takeout mode and order pizza by the slice. A lot of the slices are in the sub-$4+ range, which makes them a slightly pricier option (#2) right off the bat. I realize that one of the weakest links in H-Town's food scene is pizza but that likely won't stop me from coming here. Lots of traffic pulled over with their hazards, waiting for pizza to go, my wife ran in and got us two slices of cheese pizza. They were so good! Came across this place late one night walking back to my hotel after a series of conference receptions. Love the vibe! I wasn't starving but needed some food, so I just ordered one slice of cheese pizza. Service was quick, but that's because they just took a slice out from under the headlamp and out it in a box for me. It wasn't too old and tasted relatively fresh, so this wasn't a big deal.
