This is one of my father's favorite pizza place that he's been taking me to since I was a young kid! A classic pizza joint that's been around since forever and has become one of my favorite in the city for New York style pizza. It really reminds me of the New York Pizza joints I visited and gives off that vibe. Our family favorite here is the Margarita Pizza. Huge slices of pizza that are delicious. The Lasanga here is also delicious! Plenty of parking in this parking lot and friendly staff. Overall I recommend it if you're craving New York style pizza or pasta!

I ordered a Calzone stuffed with chicken, mushrooms and bell peppers tonight. It was really delicious, filling and somewhat unique. It was like a big Italian empanada with a pita bread / pizza crust texture for the wrapping. Very fresh, warm in n out holding a toasty, slightly crispy outer layer to it. The mozzarella and cool ricotta inside added richness to the veggies. The chicken pieces were very good in poultry taste and could pass for organic in taste imo too. Mushrooms n peppers are always welcome and tasted great in it with the rest. The side of marinara sauce was certainly tasty for dipping. I also recommend letting the calzone cool down a bit when it arrives, bc the flavors really come out when it's not too warm / hot. Great, very friendly, efficient service. I really like their pastas, pizza slices and calzones here. I still need to try their Chicken Marsala next time. I have some family from Long Island, NY and I know they would really like this place if they try it.

Located in an unassuming shopping plaza next to TJ Maxx near West Gray. The interior is also a bit plain and had a funny cleaning solution smell. Besides that, it looks like the closest thing to a New York style pizzeria that I've seen in Houston. They sell pies by the slice and also some subs and entrees. Got the calamari for appetizers; it was alright, a bit bland on the seasoning but the tomato dipping sauce was good. I also got a slice of cheese and a slice of pepperoni; the crust was solid and firm, while being fairly thin crust. Definitely New York style. I got the Italian sub to-go; it was honestly fairly sub-par. The meat was okay, the sub was seasoned with mayo and oregano, and had some cheese and veggies. Overall, it isn't my favorite Italian sub in town by any means. The pizza is solid and recommended! Service is minimal but quick and the staff are friendly.

If you're on the hunt for perfect NY style pizza, this is the answer. So tasty and simply made pizza with good ingredients. They do everything right. Crispy thin crust. Cupped pepperoni with just the perfect amount of oil in each one. The cheese and sauce live in harmony on each slice. Open kitchen is always a great sign. Staff is welcoming. Lots of seating. Run don't walk if you're anywhere near the area and want a great lunch today!

After moving to Houston, one of the things I missed most was NY style pizza and Romano's was among the first recommendations I received. River Oaks was the last place I'd think to find it, but I'm pleased to report it's the closest I've found to the real thing. By NY standards, Romano's is spacious (#1). There is ample seating left and right with plenty of parking to boot. It's clean in here with lots of natural lighting. Solo diners and groups would thrive here, though I suspect that the takeout game is more frequent than the rest. Some immediate positives is that they sell by the slice, which is not common in Houston. They also use real pizza ovens, which is old school but produces the best crust versus all the other faux-NY spots that use a broiler to brown and crust up the cheese. They also have a whole slew of guys kneading dough, assembling pies, and cranking out fresh ones constantly. There is a bit of flop in the crust, proportionate ratio of cheese and toppings, a well seasoned sauce, and a nice thin-crust layer that passes off like something I'd see on anything in NY. The taste is good for Houston standards, but average for something back home.. A slight let down is their largest pie is only 16 inches, which is somewhat modest for large pizza standards. I appreciate that they also have Sicilian pies, a slew of sandwich options, calzones, and pastas. They have some eye-talian specialties such as the veal florentine, chicken francese, and even a veal parm. I appreciate the chef specials, sauage and peppers, and pasta options ranging from ziti to tortellini and lasagna. The downside is that like everything else, it can get pricey. A plain pie is only $20 for a large, but with a few toppings it's $36. The special version of their Sicilian is close to $50 and the dinner specials are all $25+ for each plate. They do provide a slight discount for cash, which I recommend for everyone. Owners Frank and Vinny are from Queens (#2) and although removed from the borough for the last few decades have done a great job in maintaining some semblance of home and ultimately, providing a service for those of us who miss it most. ____________ (#1) Almost feels like a pizzeria in Florida. (#2) Ozone Park?

Changing my review to 5 stars! I never give 5 stars. Check my reviews. I save 5 stars for the equivalent of a Golden Buzzer on AGT. Why now? Well.... First time tonight I tried their pizza. OMG! This might be my new favorite pizza place in town. The crust is amazing! Great sourdough flavor. Perfect thickness. Perfect crunch. Perfect flavor. Just perfect! A little on the expensive side for a 2 topping pizza, but well worth it. I still stand by the chicken picatta being delicious. But now I have to pick between pizza and chicken when I go there. For a Saturday night I was surprised they were able to prepare my pizza with a minimal wait. As always, they pump out food fast, fresh, and piping hot! The staff is always friendly. They make small talk with you. They genuinely seem like they enjoy working. How can they not when they create perfection like that pizza!!! I love the casual vibe. Plenty of tables. Could get a little noisy, but who cares. It's the right vibe for the right type of place. Do yourself a favor, and indulge in Romanos Pizza ASAP!

Great location to have homemade pasta! Clean & small area to have lunch & dinner. Serve plenty when ordering pasta meal (includes salad, garlic bread, & pasta on the side when ordering the chefs special pasta) The chefs & employees were very kind & accommodating. & much flavor to the food!

The pizza was as expected good. Service did come across a little crude for the great service I have received in Houston so far. Maybe its all part of the NY pizza style dining... idk but the pizza was the star. Just in case you wanted garlic knots they don't have them here. But you can get pizza by the slice. I got 2 slices of pizza and a side salad and paid over 20 bucks. The place was very Diner like in style. Its a nice spot to come and catch up with a friend without great fuss. Drink choices were limited to fountain drinks, beer, and topo Chico. I do appreciate a good too though!I would definitely come back for the pizza alone.

First things first. Just because someone is from NYC by way of Italy does not mean they are pizza experts. After all, there are plenty of Texans who don't know (you know what) from Shinola about smoking a brisket. But these guys produce legit NY-style pizza. This is a counter-order joint from which I witnessed a dude tossing dough. I was also able to start a tab for beers. There is nothing fancy about the atmosphere, but it is clean and there were plenty of available tables on our visit. Bathrooms are also clean. The pizza here is the epitome of NY-style... crisp yet foldable crust with a slight yeasty flavor, sweet sauce (some of the best I've had), and the perfect amount of real mozzarella. I had pepperoni and mushrooms on my half of the pie. Delicious. My wife was born in Manhattan, raised in the Bronx and spent many years in New Jersey. I spent a few years up there myself, and Romano's is better than many of the pizza joints we frequented there. And the service is a hell of a lot more polite! ;-) I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time, and we drove 45 minutes just to eat here. It was totally worth it ... especially if you are a displaced Yankee who is jonesing for authentic NY-style pizza.

Romano's had been on my pizza to-do list for some time. I'm not sure what took me so long to check it out. Honestly, it was probably my inability to believe a spot between TJ Maxx and Marshall's could be pumping out top notch pies. But they are. I love a good New York style pizza and Romano's has that covered. From the dough to the sauce to the pepperonis, just a great to-go pizza all around. And to their credit, the parking lot makes it really easy to get in and out. The only negative: unlike TJ Maxx and Homegoods, you're not likely to come away with a steal. At the same time, pizza prices have been steadily on the rise, but you have to justify that you could get two chain pies for the price of one Romano's. That aside, these pizzas are not to be missed.

My family has been coming to this establishment for 15 years. Because we moved out of the city, it had been over two years since we last stopped in to Romano's. The impeccable service and product remain excellent. Their consistency warrants admiration. They somehow produce flavor close to what one would have in NYC, but here in Houston. Romano's is truly one of Houston gems. I just hope that it doesn't take us so long to return.

Fried Calamari Appetizer - literally $1 per calamari
    Diana S.

Being generous with my 3 star review as I love their food and they are the nicest people there. But we've ordered Uber Eats multiple times (about once a month) and the calamari appetizer just keeps getting smaller and smaller. Set at $15 (increased to a couple more dollars because of Uber Eats up charge), this is just not worth the money for the portions we received. Our other favorites are their chicken parm and meatball hero's which are both tasty. But truly, the portion size of this was definitely a disappointment. In the future, I would not order delivery and just go straight to the store and order a slice of pizza. Can't go wrong with that and it tastes better fresh and hot.

My pizza was ready on time and the service was great although our interaction was brief. It's a thin crust pizza and the edges were just perfect out of the oven. The chimichurri worked perfectly with the smokiness of the chicken. The cheese was so fresh and the sauce flavorful. Next time I'll order it well done because the toppings made it a bit soggy in the middle the next day. I can't wait to try more on the menu! The space is small and has patio seating. I would consider it more for takeout or a quick lunch.

Walking in there a couple seats to the right, menu is on the wall to the left, and order & pickup counter in the center. I ordered the Coffee Cowboy pizza and a full order of Dad's Bruschetta (Dad OG's). It took quite a while for the food to be ready, as it was a Friday, and was just blowing up on social media. So I recommend ordering online beforehand, I also noticed while waiting for my food to be ready, that the staff taking orders were bias towards certain customers but that could just be me. There are more tables and seating outside in front with napkins rolls available which I sat at when the food ready. The Coffee Cowboy pizza had coffee-crusted hereford flank steak, smoked onion bianco sauce, mozz, white cheddar, caramelized onion, smoked salt, and truffled arugula. But sadly wasn't to my liking along with the Dad's Bruschetta. Overall, food wasn't really to my liking, and recommend ordering ahead of time.
