We came to star pizza to give these buffet lunch special a try since it was literally less than $15 a person. The service was nice, somebody came to greet you at the table and asked you if you wanted to do the buffet which we agreed to. The pizza quality was average and unfortunately, unlike other pizza buffet places, they do not have a salad included in the offer, you had to pay an additional two dollars for a side salad. They did have a dessert pizza, which was actually pretty crunchy, just the right amount of sweetness, and goodness. Star pizza was great!! They have happy hour from 3-6 which seems great! I love how they do half toppings so you can try different flavors. I think we may have over ordered for three girls but it was great. We definitely carb loaded and felt very full afterwards, but I loved trying the different flavors and taking the leftovers home. I'd realistically give Star Pizza in the Heights a 3.5 if Yelp allowed it. The pizza is good, but for the area it's definitely not the best. The salads are great though, especially if you're trying to feel a little better about indulging in pizza. The servers are friendly and the parking at this location is amazing !!! I never feel like I'm fighting for a spot. Portions are big and the lunch special is the perfect size. The fried potatoes are actually pretty good, though it's hard to mess up potatoes. My son commented that the pizza was heavy when when we picked it up for takeout. His wife selected a pizza with garlic and spinach toppings. He added pepperoni. My flexitarian friend enjoyed the buffet which is tries quite recent reasonably and assured me that all the food was fresh and flavorful there they were kind enough to make a vegan pizza for me. We've been to Star Pizza many times over the years but never this location and it did not disappoint. We started our meal by sharing some Caprese salad which was crisp, fresh, and delicious. We also ordered a large Starburst pizza with the expectation that we would take some leftovers home. We ordered deep dish but it isn't just thick dough like some places. Just delicious crust-more of a medium thickness but it comes up the edges of the deep dish. Star Pizza is one of my all-time Houston faves. I've been coming here for years, but not often enough that each time I visit it feels like a special occasion. There are 3 Houston area locations - the Heights, Norfolk, and Katy. I wish I lived in the delivery radius! But alas, I usually call ahead my order for pickup. They make it a seamless process. When I call in, they have your phone number saved in their system and the pizza is usually ready within 20 minutes of ordering. At this location, there is also a separate pickup line inside for to go orders and the pizza is always nice and hot. My personal favorite pizza to order is the chicken alfredo with added bacon. All of their specialty pizzas are fun with delicious flavors that blend together really well. They also master the classics like pepperoni or supreme. I'm not a big fan of Chicago deep dish style pizza, but from what I hear Star Pizza has some of the best in the area. Definitely worth a visit (or two)! read more

I have been going to Star Pizza for years but this was my first time stopping at this location. They are known for their deep dish pizzas so I definitely recommend getting that if you stop here - you won't be disappointed! We went on a Saturday night and the place was surprisingly empty. We ordered a small starburst and a small chicken alfredo. Both pizzas were AMAZING, per usual. This was definitely too much food for only two people but it made for perfect left overs the day after. How does Star Pizza average 3.5 stars?! Are y'all on crack? Star Pizza is the gold standard of pizza in Houston and has been for about 40 years. It's one of the few places that has been able to maintain its high quality throughout its entire history. I don't know if it's the fresh ingredients, the generous portions or magical elves making the pizza - but their pizza is far superior to most. My favorite lately is the Chicken Alfredo on a New York style wheat crust. Perfection. It's heavy on the mushrooms so we do 1/2 without because my wife doesn't care for them. The white sauce is delicious and the pizza is also garlic heavy. My favorite classic is the Starburst on Chicago style crust. It's their version of the supreme pizza and it's amazing. While I have tried some of their pasta dishes and really enjoyed them. my go-to order for the table is a Caesar salad and a deep dish. The caesar dressing is a little heavy on the garlic but personally, that's just how I like it. The deep dish is the best I have had outside of Chicago. The crust is always slightly crisp on the outside while remaining just slightly doughy in the center, with the perfect ratio of toppings, cheese, and sauce. I have tried many of their topping options and can honestly say I've never had a bad pizza here.
